I started going to Noc-Noc in 1990, and lived right across the street for 10 years. It was like my living room. The weekends here are not so great, because it gets filled up with lil' yuppies, and non locals. Just too crowded. Kitschy lil bar with a lounge meets cave meets airplane hangar on an alien planet vibe (you gotta see it to understand). Nice little selection of cider and sours and some sake too. Sake, wine and artisanal beers. Yum Yum. Sticky stuff on the underside of the table, Yuck Yuck. Graffitti encouraged in the ladies room - Whoo Hoo! And it looks like a cave inside.... Very chill atmosphere, my eyes were constantly entertained with the decor and wall art.. and their pear cider was awesome. Nice location of too, because after getting a buzz we walked across the street to grab a light dinner at Memphis Minnies (go ribs!). Noc Noc isn't necessarily the type of place I would frequent regularly, but it's worth visiting at least once. It's weird, and dark and cave-like and doesn't serve hard alcohol which seems weird for such a weird place. If you're around before 5pm waiting for one of the many restaurants in the area to open up, head to Noc Noc with your friends for a glass of wine, beer or sake (lush) and prepare to trip your balls out, you stinky hippy. read more

Don't remember anything special about the drinks, but I don't really remember much about this night at all... Could be a good or a bad thing depending on how you look at it? Go here and check out the chairs at the bar. The inside is REALLY neat. Lots of wonderful artwork and really cool lighting. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is trippy and beautiful. The place gets a little crowded and loud on weekend nights but it's still pretty chill. I don't think it's open for happy hours or during the day, but definitely worth a trip to Lower Haight to check it out. read more

Fun place.. looked like we stepped into Flintstones bar with caveman kinda drawings, florescent lights and awesome drinks. Its what I always imagined what a bar would look like in San Francisco - some sort of hybrid arrangement of Tim Burton, Salvador Dali, and Antoni Gaudi fueled on mushrooms, acid, and red bull. It has such an intriguing and beautiful interior - I just wish it was a bit bigger with a bit more cubbyholes where small groups of people could hide in. read more

This place made me feel like a trippy Flinstone. It's basically a cave with cool tribal art and glow paint. The beer here was pretty diverse and I got a really great cidar/ale mix. I think this bar is perfect for people walking around Haight just trying to get a feel for the neighborhood. It's definitely local, but the bartender was friendly and customer focused. It's the kind of place you don't mind wasting a night in. Not too fancy, really unique, and full of people ready to just chill and have a good drink. read more

I don't know what the hell is going on in here but it's f*cking awesome. It was literally like drinking inside a cave or inside an animal. Also, they serve drink combinations like cider with guinness - two of my favorite types of alcohol. The people that come here are friendly and open to random conversation. Best lounge yet. Get to know the locals and you'll fit right in. Cool calm and collected place and never a dull moment unless your looking for a club scene. Parking in the city, well that's an issue anywhere in SF, expect to be walking a few blocks if you don't get lucky. Nice place to play bored games before the rush hour between 9pm-10ish. Convenient food next door Mystic Pizza and Rosamunde sausage grill to sober you up. Beer selection is limited to the best 40 beers and has some favorites like Chimay and Piraat. Hot/cold Saki selections are also available recommended nigori sake! The music is unbelievably nice drum n bass, trip hop, indie is the main selection. Usually a nice crowd of people and will get packed for a bit after 10pm on Friday and often Saturdays, which makes for good times. Definite must visit more than twice to get a feel for the place and make sure to say hello to the owners and bartenders very nice people! read more

This bar is a weird little cave-like place that sorta reminds me of the inside of lame haunted house rides at fairs. However, since it's not that, it's actually kinda neat. They have a decent draft selection, though not great. They have a bunch of Belgians in bottles too. They have a few fun cider/beer mixtures that never would have occurred to me to try. I don't get this bar. The people who work here are pretty great and that's where it ends. I hate the ambiance. It feels dirty and sticky and the music is too loud. Very bad moment. We ordered sake bomb, which is not the most difficult drink on the menu, and the waiter got pretty angry about us ordering such an annoying drink to make. Second round, we order the same thing and get yelled at by the waiter, annoyed that we didn't anticipate we were going to pay several rounds and didn't leave the tab open. Of course the bartender is still angry with our choice of drinks. We gave 40% of tip on the first round, and, of course, we didn't give any tip for the second round because of the behaviour of the bartender. He started yelling at us in front of everybody and kicked us out of the bar after trying to have a fight with us. Very bad experience. read more

I like this bar. No liquor is why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5, but when I sit in this bar I'm reminded of Beetlejuice and it never seems to be that crowded. Although, I usually avoid all cool places on friday and saturday night so maybe that isn't so valid. Good beer, music, and pretty funny decor. read more

NOC NOC has one freaky awesome vibe. It looks like Tim Burton designed the interior with reclaimed furniture and midnight black walls. Their tap selection is far superior to many other bars and is rounded out with a few wines also. Plus, they have a good selection of bottled Chimays and lambics at cheap prices. I was surprised by it myself, but NOC NOC is a great place to have a chill time. read more

Back in the late 80's I'd come here all the time, the only thing I ever drank was sake, plum wine iced or beer, back then that's all they served I believe, those were fun times. This place is a trip. I feel like I'm in a cave somewhere in another galaxy when I'm in here. There are black lights, dark corners, and cushions on the ground a la an opium den. The music is always pretty good, happy hour is your typical dollar-off 3-7pm deal. Never too crowded. Everyone is laid-back and the bartender is cool with you bringing in food. read more

I fell in love the instant I walked into this place. Flintstones meets Batman Forever. It's dark with stone and wood all around you, yet it still feels comfortable and friendly. Cool funky little place to hang out. My reason for loving this place is a little sad. I was bar hopping in the area when my dinner didn't agree with me. I was about to head home since I only live about 6 blocks away when somebody overhead my situation and recommend that I head over to Noc Noc. This place has individual bathrooms!!! Either way, it's a cool place to grab a few drinks and stare at the walls if your date/drinking companion just ain't cuttin' it with the conversation. There was a pretty large selection of drinks, although it's pretty much beer ($5 draft), a selection of about 5 wines, and some sake? I thought the selection of beer was decent, although there was an inordinate number of ciders on the menu. And sake? Maybe in lieu of liquor? There are quite a few spots to grab a bench or seat, although the bar is somewhat hard to access, but the bartenders are pretty chill. read more
