My husband and I came here on a random Monday at 7:30pm and the place was bustling! I was craving sausage but Lao style (kinda hard to find here in the OC). We were met with the owner and his wife who were taking orders, and serving food, rushing all over the place to get orders. I can tell this seems like a small mom and pop establishment. I assumed it may take a while to be seated and have food bc it seemed that busy but we were seated quickly, ordered in a timely manner and the food even came out at the perfect time. Despite the rush, we were served on time and with respect We ordered the Lao sausage, ribeye laab (very spicy), roti, and the coconut juice. The plating is very authentic to Thai/Lao style which I loved. The food is 10/10. It's soo good we brought our parents here!! Because they were out of the coconut icecream, the owner gave us free Pandan mango sticky rice! This place reminds me of home. I am Hmong so a lot of Lao style food reminds me of Hmong food. I'm happy to find this place and will be coming here often!!!
I've been to many delicious restaurants...thankfully... I have also been to many restaurants that have great customer service But I have never been to a tasty restaurant where I've met my spirit animal. You may question this...but my spirit animal actually exists at Nok's Kitchen....Its Ricky! Know this... A friend took me to this restaurant on a Friday and the food was outstanding. I wanted to try it again because you know....results may vary. So I went back two days later to eat there again. I was expecting the same mediocre service we received on Friday, but no! We got Ricky! Not only did Ricky have grace and style, but embodied what I want from a server....a long lost friend that I am reconnecting with. Ricky's warmth and charm instantly put us in a good mood...and wow... so much knowledge of favorite dishes and 'off menu items' made for a fantastic blend of flavors Oh yeah...we also ate food...lol Over a two day period I had... Roti curry (twice) Fried pork belly (twice) Bbq mix combo (twice) Sticky rice (twice) Steak larb salad Crab and pork dumplings (secret menu) Pork cheek (one of Ricky's favorite) Papaya salad/noodles mixed together Nam wan taro (warm taro pudding dessert) Pandan mango sticky rice Ice cream Iced coffee All of it was delicious, and would have to be...for me to go back within a 48 hour period All the flavors are so intense and vibrant. You never really grasp how bright the flavors are until you try a bite of something, then try a bite of something else...and by then you realize you've eaten too much Even though this restaurant is not close by...this is now on a very short list of must eats. Nok's Kitchen is a Laotian restaurant with a variety of dishes on the menu. The menu items weren't extravagant, but felt like food for the soul. They made us feel warm, happy, and filling. Customer service was also really sweet. Our server, Ricky, was very friendly, personable, and down to earth. He was a delight to talk to and made us want to come back. * Rotti Curry 4/5 - This came with crispy and flaky pancakes topped with fried shallot sprinkles. The curry sauce was very flavorful with a nice coconut milk taste. * BBQ Mix Combo 4/5 - The star of the show was the spicy green sauce. It was medium spicy, and I think it had garlic, red chili pepper, and lemongrass. The chicken was 3.5/5: moist and juicy with crispy skin, but a bit bland. The beef was 4.5/5: it had a nice lemongrass flavor, though some pieces were less tender than others. The pork sausage was 4/5: made with pork and green onions, with a succulent texture and good flavor, but kinda on the fatty side. The rice had a chewy bite to it, a bit tough. * Oxtail Soup (Tom Hang Ngua) 4/5 - The oxtail was tender, but slightly chewy and not as "fall off the bone" tender as I would like. If it got simmered overnight or for a day, it would taste so good. The broth reminded me of pho broth, but with a spicy kick and a slightly different flavor profile. I liked it. Just be careful with the red chili pepper slices floating in the soup because they're very spicy! * Pandan Mango Sticky Rice 4/5 - The mango was nice and sweet. The sticky rice had a mild pandan flavor and sweetness with a slight bitter aftertaste. * Coconut Ice Cream 4/5 - This had a light coconut flavor with a tender sweetness. I wanted a more intense coconut taste, but this was still very refreshing.
Nok's Kitchen was the dinner pick and I knew it was going to be a big dinner since I was really hungry! We got to the store close to around 7:00 pm. The store has a parking lot and was nearly packed when I went. After heading inside, we added ourselves to the waitlist and waited ~ 8 minutes for them to clear some tables. The table space felt a bit small for two people. Or maybe it's because we had a large order haha. The table was also pretty close to another group though. Their menu was pretty descriptive and had pictures, which helped us decide what to get. Combo 4 - BBQ Mix & Sticky Rice: Comes with pork sausage, wagyu ribeye skewer, and chicken thigh. There were two sauces provided - one was a sweet & sour and the other one was a spicy green. The spicy green one was my favorite since it had a nice kick to it! The sausage was okay while the skewer and chicken thigh stood out more. Overall, I liked the variety of the combo! Stirred Fried Egg Noodles: We got the noodles primarily as a dish to eat with the bbq mix and got it with fried tofu. This dish had a lot of flavor itself and did its job! It would be a great standalone dish. Rotti Curry: Was craving curry at the time and knew I had to get this! The curry was amazing! The rotti was nice and flaky; it was a bit greasy though. It hit the spot and was a nice amount for sharing. Mango Pandan Sticky Rice: This came out after we cleared our main dishes. It tasted really good and not too sweet. However, it didn't really have the Pandan flavor and tasted like a regular mango sticky rice. Overall, everything was solid! I'd come back to try other dishes here and recommend the ones I had already. American Express is accepted here.

Larb Ribeye: The ultimate meat salad! Perfectly cooked medium-rare ribeye tossed with bold herbs, spices, and crunchy veggies. Bright, punchy, and addictive. Roti Curry: Warm, comforting, and easy to devour. Khao Soi: Hearty and filling. What I loved most: they do not hold back on aromatics or seasoning. Everything is bold, fragrant, and generously portioned. Service was super fun, chatty, and genuinely friendly! Would 100% recommend checking this place out if you're craving big flavors and good vibes.
I recently had dinner here on a Wednesday evening and it was still full about an hour before closing. I was lucky enough to grab the last table by the door. But after ordering four dishes we quickly realized that the 2-person table was a bit of a tight squeeze. Luckily the table next to us finished and left so the waiter helped up combine the two tables to give us a little more wiggle room. It was my first time having Laos food and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was alot like Vietnamese and Thai food but with slightly different flavoring and spices. We ordered the Roti Curry, Cucumber salad, Larb Ribeye Salad and Lao Sausage Combo. My favorite was the Roti curry followed by the cucumber salad but all four were really closely ranked. There was not a dish I wouldn't considered repeating next time. The parking yesterday wasn't bad but I can see how if could be challenging during peak dinner time on weekends.
Restaurant is located in a strip mall. We got here early so there was no wait. But you will wait because it definitely gets crowded. Understandably so. Amazing service. Our waiter was helpful and explained everything with so much detail. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and felt homely. As for the food--OMG. Delicious is an understatement. The food was beautifully presented. I wish we could have ordered more food but our tummies were so full. I can't wait to go back.
I've never had laotian food and I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner. The place is lovely and clean and ourserver Ricky is very nice. Expect a bit of a wait during weekends at peak mealtimes. We started with thai tea to drink and papaya salad. We got fried pork belly and the bbq combo for our mains. Finished the meal with mango coconut ice cream Thai Tea- Best thai tea I've had in my life! It was rich and creamy with a hint of seasalt caramel flavor. Nothing quite like it! Fried Pork Belly- The skin is crisp with a good amount of juicyness in the meat. It's marinated in lemongrass, garlic, and ginger so it's bursting with flavor. Papaya Salad- Shredded papaya is crisp and it has a sweet and tangy flavor with a good amount of heat. It's a good condiment to eat with the meat. Bbq Combo- It comes with chicken, sausage, and beef so you have quite the spread. The chicken is juicy and flavorful. Beef has a nice char and smokiness. Sausage is savory. Mango Coconut Ice Cream- Such a lovely way to finish the meal! The mango is sweet and juicy and provides a wonderful contrast against the creamy ice cream. A must try! Great experience overall!
The vibes here are so fun and the food doesn't disappoint. Our waiter was super friendly, explained the specials they had and offered us great suggestions. Everything we got was amazing and so flavorful, especially all the meats. The sausage is a must try. Would definitely come back for the food and the vibes.
In the mood for Lao food? This place is the best for it. My go to spot whenever I'm in the mood for lau food. I'm so glad Nok moved to a bigger space! The decor and inside is so welcoming. The food here is amazing as always, fresh, well seasoned, and authentic. We always get the basik combo, papaya salad with salted crab, chicken combo and the mango dessert if we have space in our tummy haha. All the sauces are so unami flavor bomb and pair well with the dishes. They really put care in presenting the dish as well. On top of that the owner and staff are very nice. Come check them out!
I was very happy to finally try this place out and they didn't disappoint. First, the service was phenomenal (and I don't use that word often). Their food was delicious except for the fried foods, they were a little on the greasy side. I loved their beef larb and the cucumber salad. They also have the grilled pork cheek that was so juicy. Thank you for the free ice-cream as a belated birthday to my 4 year-old, he loved it!
Food was absolutely exquisite! It's my sister and I's first time trying Lao cuisine and it did not disappoint! Everything was perfectly seasoned! We had papaya salad, pork cheeks, and chicken curry noodle soup. All their dishes had bold, rich flavor. They were artfully and uniquely presented as well. The service was excellent! We ordered most of the dishes our server recommended. The food came right on time. The place had a vibrant and inviting ambiance. Our overall dining experience was perfect! Will definitely come back here for more!
for the price, service, and taste, Nok's is one of the best in the area. total for a group of 5 came out to be 105$ and we barely finished everything! Our server was amazing and food came out quickly. Got the pad kapao, khao piak (lao chicken clear broth soup, surprising hit/table fav!), tum mak houng papaya salad, and larb rib eye salad. everything's great and there were too many options to pick from!

We were in the area and looked up Laos food. Noks kitchen popped up and the photos were making me even more hungry. The reviews convinced me into trying this place and let me tell you, Noks Kitchen did not disappoint! The food was delicious, I ordered a second dish of the sausage to take home, all the way back home to the Bay Area :) It's been about a week now and I am still raving about the food and figuring out how to get their sausage shipped to me! There's not that much Laos food in the area beside this place. Came here with my friend a couple days ago and we were satisfied and full. It wasn't that busy and there was one person serving us. The ambiance felt like i was really in Laos. We first ordered the combo #4, shrimp papaya salad, the sour soup and lastly the mango pandan sticky rice. The meat was good but not memorable. The yellow sauce that came with it made everything taste bomb. Without it, I think it would have been a bit bland. 4/5. The sour soup was alright and not that sour and savory, 3/5. The mango pandan sticky rice was crazy delicious, 5/5. Probably the best dish there. Would come back again for just that dessert. read more

Started off with the crispy rice and papaya salad appetizers. I'm not a fan of Laotian papaya salad so I won't give my opinion, but the others I went with thought it was pretty appetizing. I did however like the crispy rice. Sprinkle a little bit of lime on top with a bunch of dry chili powder and it was delicious. More meat would have been good. For my main, I ordered the Laotian bun bo hue. It has its own little twist to it and was excellent. This one surprisingly had too much meat for the amount of noodles, so I ordered and extra side of noodles. My friend ordered the bbq combo 4. The beef skewer was the most flavorful of the 3 meats, but I thought the chicken and sausage were tasty as well, especially dipping it into the green sauce. -Excellent service -Superb edm playlist read more

Amazing service. Super helpful, it was my first time trying Laotian food and the waiter weighed options with me and also advised which was better for fruit in season and the traditional dishes. Also if the soup I wanted was too big if I was dining alone. All of their choices were *IT. The serving of the dishes is so picture worthy. Rattan platters and dishes, and a cozy spot to have lunch or dinner. I've recommended to friends and routinely return. read more
I only got to go but service seemed really nice. We ordered based on the old menu so we were confused why the total was so much higher than what we thought we ordered. I have attached photos of the new menu with updated prices. Food were delicious, everything was flavorful. Some of the sauces were really spicy but delicious. Went to try out this place with my friends, wasn't sure what to expect but it was extremely yummy! We definitely over ordered for a party of 4, but it's so good we finished it all. The mango sticky rice was the highlight of our dinner as it is different from other mango sticky we have tried before. Would highly recommend that. Nok's Kitchen is a hidden gem and only been open for about 10 months! Try it before word spreads like wildfire. Every dish we ordered was delicious, with Nok herself serving the dishes to us! She was so kind and sweet! We ordered a combo of skewers to share, the sour soup (basically a Lao version of the Thai Tom Yum soup), crispy pork, and papaya salad. Everything we ordered was delicious, portions are generous, and prices are reasonable. The presentation is beautiful too, with everything coming out in a weaved tray, and the soup coming out on its own little burner. Although everything we ate was good, the two dishes we could not stop raving about was the crispy pork and papaya salad. The crispy pork was soo tender, juicy, and flavorful with a perfectly crispy crust. Paired so well with the dipping sauce it came with. The papaya salad was fresh and flavorful with really balanced flavors. I've had my share of awful papaya salads, and this one is legit good! The sour soup hit the spot on a cold day. When I asked Nok the difference between this Laotian version of Tom Yum versus the Thai version... she said the Thai version is more sweet and tangy. This one is more creamy (though there is no cream) and less sweet. She was spot on with the description and that is exactly how I'd describe this soup. Also be careful with the spice. I thought I could handle my spice, but I think I need to order everything mild here the next time I come! Nok's Kitchen definitely made a memorable impression in the best way possible, and we'll definitely be back! read more

Wow! The food here is amazing and the prices are quite reasonable. Not only does the food look appetizing in pictures, but it really does deliver on flavor. We ordered the beef noodle soup, which came in such a beautiful tray presentation, and we also ordered the pork sausage and rib eye skewer. The beef noodle soup had a savory and tangy flavor profile that satisfied my Southeast Asian palate. I loved all the textures that the vegetables added and the beef was really tender. The rib eye skewer wasn't bad, but the pork sausage was the clear star. It was incredibly juicy and savory. The spicy sauce it came with accentuated the flavor even more. All in all, it was an incredibly satisfying meal, especially on a cold day. Definitely would want to come back the next time I'm in the area! read more

Heard many great things about Nok's Kitchen, and I finally got to check it out today! We ordered the thai larb salmon salad, papaya salad, the bbq mix combo, and the fried pork belly. Thai larb salmon salad: 5/5 I've never had a larb dish with raw salmon before, and this was really good. My favorite out of all the dishes we ordered. It tastes clean but also good depth of flavor, it's served with green salad underneath. Fried pork belly with sauce: 5/5 This was my second favorite out of all the dishes, I'm a sucker for pork belly and this definitely hit the spot. The sauce paired with this dish is so addicting, and they sell jars of it if you wanna take some home. Papaya Salad: 4/5 I normally am not a huge fan of papaya salad but my friend loves it so we opted to try it. This is the most memorable out of all the papaya salads I've tried, and my friend also said the same thing. I'm not exactly sure how it's any different from a traditional thai papaya salad, it tasted pretty similar. It comes with shrimp chips, chicharonnes, and peanuts!! Bbq Mix Combo: 2/5 Ok this was definitely the most disappointing dish of the night. The sticky rice that comes with it wasn't really sticky rice...it was kinda hard and not even hot. I love sticky rice, so was really disappointed. In my opinion, I don't think this dish is worth it because the meats are dry (the chicken and the ribeye skewer), and again they're not that hot??? I'm not sure if it's supposed to be served room temp?? My friend really enjoyed the Lao sausage that came with it but I didn't care for it personally. Too salty. Overall, the dishes here are interesting & I will be back to try some more because there are just so many options to choose from!!! The service was awesome too. I'm a fan. All the food we ordered was super good and the service was great as well. This restaurant has the whole package! Presentation was also A+ If ordered Nam Khao, Larb with raw salmon, pork sausage with sticky rice, and fried pork belly. If I had to pick, larb with salmon and the fried pork belly were my favorites. Never tried larb with salmon before so it was such a pleasant surprise. Packed so much flavor! The fried pork belly was also unique because of the fried lime leaves that the pork comes with. I'll be coming here frequently to get the same dishes and also try other ones like the noodle soup. Definitely will be a regular here read more
The menu is super simple and straightforward to order. This place is perfect for anyone who is feeling a little adventurous and would like to try a new culture's cuisine. The ribeye beef skewers were very tender and fragrant from the lemon grass and lime seasoning and the dipping sauce consisted of lime, fish sauce, lemon grass, and chili. It's a little spicy so watch out for that. The presentation looks so authentic with the wicker basket! The beef skewers had fatty gristly bits that I didn't like though read more
Great find for us! We were looking for something new & hot nearby and here it is! Family owned too which we LOvE to support being 5 months new. Billy served us on a cool Asian wicker dish for a fun presentation and his wife was back in the kitchen cooking with their staff. Clean environment too which was a plus. We ordered the curry noodle, Lao pork sausage combo with the crispy rice and the salmon salad, my personal favorite with the lettuce wrap. All was very flavorful and worth going back to. There are spices available just to compliment the different entrees. The A/C was perfect since my husband was enjoying his food and kept adding the spice that added more fire. Small little restaurant, very clean inside. Service is prompt and friendly. There's two small tables outside. Dragonfruit lemonade - I enjoyed this drink, but I don't think it complimented the food because it was also sour. Papaya salad - I got this based off the recommendations on yelp. I thought this was good, nothing spectacular. I did notice that ours came with spring mix and not cabbage, which is usually typical. When I looked at photos on yelp, it also came with cabbage, so I'm not sure if they ran out for the day, but I wish they had informed us. Because the sauce is so strong and spicy along with sour notes, I think a complement as well with the cabbage versus a light spring mix salad. I probably wouldn't order this again, only because I thought it was very very sour. Sausage Combo - the sausage was very tasty! Sticky rice is cooked well. The Mee Ka Tee Curry Noodle Soup comes separated, so it's fun to pour over the soup, and it also helps prevent the noodles from getting too soggy. The final ratio is almost like a dry noodle, but I thought it was just the right amount so you don't end up with leftover broth. Didn't find much chicken, but the shrimp is really fresh and plump. The fresh ingredients, especially the mint, really go well with the aromatic ingredients in the curry (like sizable bites of lemongrass!) and keep the soup from feeling heavy. We went to Nok's Kitchen for lunch on a Saturday. You have to add yourself to the waitlist outside the door but the wait was only about 5 min. The inside of the restaurant was small but cozy. We ordered the BBQ mix combo (4.5/5.0), larb salmon(4.3/5.0), larb rib eye (4.6/5.0), mango sticky rice with coconut ice cream (5.0/5.0), and a passionfruit lemonade (4.3/5.0). Everything was so delicious. We loved the mango sticky rice and the coconut ice cream. It had such a soft texture and pleasant flavor, like eating cold creamy coconut water. The server was thoughtful and kind. He guided us through the menu options and mentioned some of the popular dishes. We are definitely going back to try more of their food! read more

This place has become one of my favorite places! The traditional vibes mixed with the comfort of home cooking is great! The Lao sausages are so good with the sticky rice that comes in the traditional bamboo baskets, the papaya salad, the mee ka tee (noodles in a creamy coconut red curry) is delicious! Was very curious about Lao cuisine and we heard a lot of good reviews about Nok's kitchen so decided to try it! Everything on the menu sounded really good but we narrowed it down to 4 things. The BBQ Mix Combo was great cause you get to try a little bit of everything! All the meats were super smokey and was seasoned nicely, but the standout skewer for us was the sausage! The sauces provided were a great addition to the meat as well. We also got the octopus salad which was just okay as the octopus itself was more on the chewy side. Flavor of the salad dressing was tasty, but octopus a little bland since I assume they just boil it. The Tom Saap with shrimp was beautifully presented and very reminiscent of a tom yum soup, so you can never go wrong with that. As for dessert we got the Mango pandan sticky rice, which was a great way to end the meal! Loved that they did a pandan flavored sticky rice since not many places offer this. Service was awesome and the staff was super attentive! Would definitely like to come back and try some new stuff! read more
Tried Nok's for the first time! I got combo #1 which was pork sausage with sticky rice. The flavor of the sausage was really good, so I do recommend getting this if you haven't tried it before. My coworkers and I went to eat here recently and it was such a nice experience. The food was served fast and the new place was wider than the old place before after they moved locations. We ordered: the bbq mix, larb chicken salad, some kind of chicken salad, rotti curry, and more sausages on the side, and also a noodle soup dish. Everything was delicious, but I especially enjoyed the curry and the bbq mix, with their special green sauce. read more

Pros: - Juicy, tender meats (Lao Sausage, Wagyu Skewer, Chicken Thighs) - Rich, sweet Mango Sticky Rice - Good portion for price Started off with the Popcorn Chicken ($14) and it was delicious! The chicken was crispy, juicy, and tender and when paired with the tangy, spicy sauce, made a flavor bomb in my mouth. The portion for it was huge and got a lot of value for the money. The BBQ Mix Combo ($21) included Chicken Thighs, Lao Pork Sausage, and a Wagyu Skewer. The meats were all cooked to perfection and were juicy and their dipping sauces complemented well with them. The portion for any of the grill combos are big and you get insane value for your money. The Basik ($16) had a nice, distinct crunch every time you bit into the crispy pork belly. Each entree comes with sticky rice and has a nice chewy texture that hugs the meat in your mouth to balance out the tanginess of sauces. The Mango Sticky Rice ($12) is a great way to end off any meal at Nok's Kitchen. Mango slices have a subtle sweetness to them that pairs well with the rich, strong flavors from the pandan infused coconut milk that the sticky rice is drenched in. It's a combination of chewy, richness, and sweetness that is perfect to end the night off on. read more
This was probably one of the tastiest Lao foods. I enjoyed the bbq meats and the sauces that elevated the flavors to another level. The beef noodle soup was not such a crowd pleaser but hopeful that the other selections are winners. I will be back! read more

Hi! Where did you guys get your furniture especially the chairs?
Is there more than one location? Pics show different buildings?
Only one location. They moved from Westminster ave to Bolsa Ave
Are they closed every Tuesday?
Do they have vegan food?
Most of their food will have hints of fish sauce, pork rinds, and/or meat loaf. Though you could ask to have these removed as their notable dishes like the Papaya Salad, Cucumber Salad and Crispy Rice Salad dishes.
Can we make a reservation?
The Lao sausage green sauce that it comes with is sooooooo good, do you guys sell it by itself? if not, you should really bottle it!!!
They sell it in a jar for $8

They have about 2-3 small tables that flank both sides of their restaurant.
