We were honestly surprised by how low the ratings were because we enjoyed everything we ordered, from the banh beo and banh ram it to the bun bo hue. Then again, places with lower ratings are usually the hidden gems, so I'm glad we decided to give this spot a try. Luckily, we came for lunch and were seated right away. I'd been here for ten years ago. At that time, everything was okay. I suddenly stopped by this place a week ago, and everything had changed dramatically. The quality of food (not tasty at all) and service were awful and slow. The floor was dirty, so I was concerned about their sanitation. The cashier (I guessed an owner) was so mean, impolite, and rude. She didn't appreciate customers who came to support her business. Maybe she's been in the US for years, but she still didn't know how to treat customers properly compared to others, especially in American restaurants. I don't know what happened, but they changed their recipe for the famous Bun Bo Hue noodle soup. The new version as of Jan 2026 is watery, thin, lacking in flavor. I arrived here just before they were closing which is 7:00 pm. Parking was easily accessible since most of the businesses close early at this strip mall. And almost every time I got food into my mouth, got the staff stop by asking if I need something. I guess people complained about lack of service here but I got over serviced. The foods were good, thought it would be better and their spicy was not at all..I would say the"white" version of spicy. Even their chili saté on the table was not even a 1 star for spicy, I kept adding (6 spoons) into my bowl and not a thing, not even a hint of it. I came here to try a few things, starting with the Banh Beo. The portion size is great. One order comes with ten pieces, and they are generous with the dried shrimp, which is the key to good Banh Beo. I was indifferent about the fried onion on top, but overall it was solid. I also ordered the Bun Bo Hue. The broth was not very flavorful or beef forward, and it fell a little flat. The pork trotter was mostly the foot rather than the meaty part, and the pork blood was on the overcooked side. I did appreciate the homemade cha. This place doesn't have tendon which is a bummer. After a while, the broth tasted one note even after I added lime and sate. I did not finish my small bowl, which is unusual for me. I tried the Nem Chua as well. I might have gotten a bad batch because it looked dull instead of a vibrant red, and it had a strange aftertaste. I would not order this again. The lady working the counter tried to upsell a lot, which was a bit annoying, but she was very sweet and friendly. The restaurant is clean, the food comes out quickly, and I love that they bring out a full assortment of veggies to go with the Bun Bo Hue. Firstly, I got the 3 items combo, which comes with 3 different kinds of rice flour steamed dumplings and cakes. It sounds a little weird, but it's delicious! They come with this sweet and savory fish sauce that makes the perfect condiment for your various rice flour dishes. There's so much more to vietnamese food than meets the eye! Kathryn got a chicken salad with rice, and while it sounds plain, it's punchy with flavors that delight the taste buds. Chicken, herbs, cabbage, all served next to chicken-flavored rice? It's a combination that's sure to give you a culinary concussion! Finally, onto my craving, and the reason we came here. I got the Bun Bo Hue, and it was spicy, savory, sweet, and filled to the brim with different stuff in there, so you never get bored of eating it! There's pork, beef, sausage, and even blood! We ordered bun bo hue, Vietnamese iced coffee, and banh it kep banh ram. I was so excited to try the banh it ram because I've never had it before and I don't think it's a common dish? Needless to say, it was good! Chewy, mochi consistency steamed dumpling filled with pork and shrimp on top of a crispy glutinous rice cake. Service was quick and attentive. They gave my toddler a free bowl of bun bo hue soup (no spicy) with noodles- oh he loved it. The bun bo hue lacked spice but good thing they have a jar of spicy chili oil on the table. I appreciate all the vegetables & herbs they gave us to go with our noodle soup. It's the biggest and most generous plate of herbs & vegetables I've ever been given for my noodle soup! I have been wanting to try this place because I heard their banh beo ( steamed rice cake with pork grinds ) and banh bot loc ( steam clear tapioca dumpling with shrimp ) are really good. They are not disappointing, service is fast and refill our water a few times. The banh beo with fish sauce is delicious and the banh bot loc is similar to shrimp dumpling ( dim sum ) but chewy and has good flavor. They are also good for sharing in the group! We also ordered bun Bo hue, can't really handle spicy so we ordered mild but it is still too spicy for us I think it is a good choice with people that like spicy. But the pork blood and beef flank are good. Parking lot have tiny parking spaces so be careful when parking. We arrive around 11am so no wait to the restaurant. Been going to Ngu Binh for years now! I refuse to eat bún bò Huế from anywhere else, because Ngu Binh is the best. I've had bún bò from many other places, but nothing compares to Ngu Binh. I must say, I have not had much else from the menu besides the bún bò, but I am sure the other food is as tasty. The bún bò tastes just like the one I had from a street vendor in Huế on a trip!
