Coconut shrimp appetizer

We came for Dine LA dinner last night. It was $45 for select items on their menu. (They did not offer Happy Hour since they were offering Dine LA menu.) I enjoyed everything that I ordered, from the generous portion of mussels, the crispy whole branzino, and the crème brûlée. My husband also had the mussels, the lamb shank, and rice pudding. He did not care for the lamb shank. He said it was tender, but would have preferred a different sauce. He also wishes that he got the crème brûlée instead. Our server was ok, but seemed rushed. There was a lot of free 2-hour parking when we arrived for an early meal at 4:30 pm. If there were more entree offerings during Dine LA, I'd go back again. But I didn't see anything else that I'd be interested in trying. The restaurant is nice inside with spacious modern interior.

Stopped in before a movie and happened to catch their Happy Hour. I'm vegan, so I ordered the hummus plate, guac and chips, and fries. Everything was tasty, though the portions were on the smaller side. The service was a bit unusual. It doesn't seem like you get a dedicated server --whoever walks by handles whatever you need. It made things a little confusing since the person who took our drink order never returned, and we ended up flagging down different staff members for the rest of our visit. My wine also took quite a while to arrive, even though we were seated at the bar and I noticed other drinks going out first. It may have just been an off night. The vibe is cute, and the shared parking with the cinema makes it a convenient stop before a movie.

We love Nomad, especially during Dine LA where we get to enjoy a 3-course meal at a set price. By making it a date night, we get to experience 6 different items with flavors and ingredients from different parts of the world. My favorite today was the sea bass, it was beautifully served, raw, I was very pleasantly surprised. I almost asked for chopsticks until my wife reminded me this is a Mediterranean dish. I forked it and it was amazing, fresh and tasty, highly recommended! The short ribs is usually favorite, it came out nicely, falling off the bones, only thing was the sauce was a bit salty for me. I wish there was a side of rice or bread, ha ha. May be I will ask the polenta to be in the side in the future. My wife had the Hummus Meeze board, we loved everything on it and wish there was a bit more bread to help us finish every bit. She also had the filet mignon Loma Saltados, it was also deliciously done. For dessert, we shared crème brûlée and tiramisu. Both were yummy and gone in no time.

Global spot that is a hidden gem. Came here for brunch with my family and we made a reservation online in advance. It's located by the movie theater and there was plenty of parking. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Our waitress was friendly and we were able to promptly place our orders. My boyfriend and I split the chimichurri steak and eggs and the French toast. My sister ordered bacon on the side for her French toast (extra cost) while my mom had the enchiladas. They're vegan friendly and my dad had the Mediterranean kebab which was vegan. We all split the mussels to start as well.

Parking in the nearby garage but finding the entrance isn't straight forward if you haven't been here before. Nice ambiance (open architecture) and pretty prompt service but the kitchen took forever (like closer to 45 minutes) and the place isn't slammed nor even that full. Good food (tried the lamb kebab and shrimp) but pretty pricey. Was going to order desert but she brought the check so fine. They are not very interested in our custom.

My friend and I decided to try Nomad for dinner tonight. The restaurant is modern and decorated very well. They were serving their regular menu plus a prix fixe menu for DineLA week. I decided to try the prix fixe - Course 1 - Burrata & Pistachio Pesto, Course 2 - Filet Mignon Lomo Saltado, Course 3 - Creme Brulee. My friend had the Nomad Hummus and Grilled Loin of Lamb. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful. The food was flavorful and great quality. Initially, I was going to order the Balsamic Braised Short Ribs, but unfortunately, they had run out. The filet and lamb were both tender, juicy, and flavorful. The Creme Brûlée was excellent, though I would have wanted a thinner burnt sugar layer. It was still so good. Scott, the owner, came to our table to chat with us and ask us about the food and how we found them. He was friendly and grateful for our patronage. He shared how he came up with the concept of the restaurant. We really enjoyed the conversation. I definitely will return because there were so many other items on the menu that I would like to try in the future.

Loved the spaghetti & grilled shrimp entree! My co-worker & I both ordered this, both of our shrimps were cooked PERFECTLY! I am very picky about my shrimp and hate having it over cooked. These were not, so tasty! I loved the flavor of the pasta too. My co-worker thought it was a bit too salty but I didn't think so. I do like stronger flavors. I would go back for this dish.

TIRAMISU
Kelly S.

Ordered two of the tiramisu as takeout ($14 EACH) and their portion size was incredibly small. Maybe 2 x 2 x 2 inches for $14 EACH. Yikes. If the piece was generous or even just a decent size, that would be fine... but at this price point I'm astounded and very disappointed. So puny it was pathetic. Will never order from here again ... taste was mediocre too, kinda tasted like it went bad.

We were greeted by the manager and then ignored for a good 20 mins before anyone came to check on us to see if we were ready to order. Ambiance was nice, with indoor heat lamps and a cozy feeling. We opted for the DineLA menu so I ordered the scallop crudo aguachile, crispy branzino, and the coconut rice pudding. Everything was delicious! I was the last one to get my food and they forgot to bring my rice bowl and dipping sauce. The overall experience was good. I may return in the distant future.

This has become one of our favorite places and in the steady rotation. Happy hour has some great deals and the nomad fries are so good. Everything we've had here is good. We also came for dine LA, which was a great deal.

Perched above the Manhattan Beach Pier, this longtime local favorite has one of those views that makes you immediately forget whatever minor problem you had before walking in. Traffic? Gone. Emails? Gone. That text message you were supposed to answer three days ago? Also gone. All replaced by floor to ceiling windows, the Pacific Ocean, and a sunset that looks suspiciously like someone adjusted the saturation settings on reality. We stopped in for cocktails before dinner elsewhere, and honestly, it took a fair amount of self discipline to leave. The bar itself strikes that perfect Manhattan Beach balance between polished and relaxed. Contemporary without feeling cold. Stylish without trying too hard. Large enough for a lively crowd, yet comfortable enough to settle in and watch the evening unfold. Upstairs feels like an elevated coastal lounge, while downstairs carries a bit more energy and nightlife spirit as the evening progresses. A special shoutout goes to Jeffrey behind the bar. Jeffrey is exactly the kind of bartender you hope to find when you sit down somewhere new. Friendly, relaxed, knowledgeable, and able to make a cocktail that tastes like it was crafted by someone who actually enjoys making cocktails. The Old Fashioned was particularly memorable. Too many bars treat an Old Fashioned like a chemistry experiment gone wrong. Too sweet. Too bitter. Too medicinal. Too much of something. Jeffrey's version was balanced, smooth, and effortless. The kind of cocktail that quietly reminds you why the drink became famous in the first place. Around us, the room was buzzing. Large business groups celebrated victories. Friends gathered for sunset drinks. Couples leaned in over cocktails while pretending not to notice the spectacular view behind them. The atmosphere felt vibrant without becoming overwhelming. And then there was that view. The Manhattan Beach Pier stretching into the Pacific. The changing colors of the sky. The waves rolling in below. You almost find yourself staring out the windows between sips like a tourist seeing the ocean for the first time. The Strand House has been part of the South Bay dining scene for years, and after spending an evening here, it's easy to understand why. It's not trying to be trendy. It's not chasing the latest fad. It simply delivers a great setting, great drinks, and an experience that feels effortlessly Southern California. If you're looking for a sunset cocktail in Manhattan Beach, stop searching. Grab a seat, order a drink, watch the sun sink into the Pacific.

The first thing I noticed about Manhattan Beach Post was the plants. Not because there were a few…read moreplants. Lots of restaurants have a few plants. These plants appeared to have union representation. They're everywhere. Hanging from things. Growing out of things. Quietly observing your meal. The whole place feels like someone built a really nice restaurant and then let nature move in as a long term tenant. The room hums. Not loudly. Not aggressively. Just enough. Glasses clink. People lean into conversations. Servers weave through the room carrying plates that look heavy enough to alter their center of gravity. Nobody seems rushed. Everybody seems busy. It's a difficult balance. The biscuits arrived first. Now, I'd heard about the biscuits. People talk about these biscuits the way fishermen talk about the one that got away. Slightly dramatic. A little emotional. Hard to verify. Turns out the stories were true. Warm bacon cheddar biscuits with maple butter. I took one bite and immediately understood why people order a second round. The outside has just enough structure to remind you it's baked. The inside is soft enough to make you wonder whether butter has secretly become a building material. We ordered another. Not because we needed another. Because apparently that's what happens here. The creamy polenta showed up next and felt like the culinary equivalent of a weighted blanket. Comforting. Smooth. Relaxed. The sort of dish that encourages you to slow down and stop checking your phone. The duck was one of my favorites. Lightly fried with crisp skin and tender meat, resting on white Italian beans and rosemary. It felt like something a French chef would cook after spending a weekend in the countryside and becoming briefly inspired by fresh air. At some point you stop evaluating food and simply nod in agreement with it. This was one of those moments. Dessert was equally dangerous. The olive oil cake arrived with strawberries and disappeared much faster than logic suggested it should. The cheesecake somehow managed to be rich and light at the same time, which feels like it should violate a law of physics somewhere. Service deserves its own mention. The whole team operates like a group project where everyone actually did their part. Plates appeared when they should. Water glasses mysteriously refilled themselves. Questions were answered without anyone making you feel like you should already know the answer. The chef's French influence shows up everywhere, but not in a showy way. Nothing feels complicated for the sake of being complicated. Everything feels like somebody spent a lot of time thinking about it so you wouldn't have to. By the end of the meal, I realized Manhattan Beach Post had done something difficult. It felt special without feeling serious. You can dress up. You can come casually. You can celebrate something important or absolutely nothing at all. Just order the biscuits. The plants already know you're going to.

Some dishes could've been executed better. Going down the list of dishes I had here: - Bacon Cheddar Buttermilk Biscuits: These were more like scones rather than biscuits. Crunchy with good bacon and cheddar flavor. - Japanese Hamachi Crudo: Unique and I liked the citrusy flavor and creamy texture. However, 3 small slices of fish for $26 was overpriced. - Leafy Greens & Radicchio: Solid and crispy salad with a nice tangy dressing. The cheese also added a lot of sharp flavor which was nice. - Skirt Steak: Good flavor and char, but a bit tough. Also some dry pieces. - Chilean Sea Bass: Lemon orzo risotto was creamy and delicious. The sea bass itself was okay, nothing special. It felt overpowered by the risotto. The fish was moist and flaky though. - 20 Oz Prime Beef Ribeye: Quality was subpar relative to price. Portion size was solid by the steak itself was inconsistent. Some of the pieces were rarer while others were more well-done even though we asked for medium rare. There were also some dry pieces which I did not like. Flavor was good though. - Strawberry and Olive Oil Cake: Was confused since there was just a thin layer of cake, but realized the title also referred to the mousse. I would title it 'Strawberry Mousse with Olive Oil Cake" to make it less confusing. Regardless, this was a delicious dessert! Love the fruity strawberry and savory pistachio flavors as well as the smooth textures. - S'mores sundae: Got this on the house for my aunt's birthday. A generous portion but the components were a bit too sweet for my liking. I visited this restaurant for a birthday that I organized and my experience was overall good. Reservation was made easy using OpenTable and I could also mention it was for a birthday occasion. The ambiance was gorgeous with good mood lighting. Good for group and 1 on 1 dining. Parking is metered or street parking. Overall, I probably wouldn't come out of my way to dine here again, but my experience wasn't bad just not significant enough to put in my rotation. Would come back if someone treated me here though.

Customer Service Incident- 5-19-26 Check # 72 Table 31…read more This report outlines concerns regarding a recent dining experience at Tin Roof Bistro (TRB) in Manhattan Beach. While prior visits to the restaurant have consistently met high standards of quality and service, several service and billing issues during the most recent visit resulted in dissatisfaction and concern regarding the accuracy of the final bill and tip calculation. Following a lengthy day of medical appointments and a 90-minute drive from UCLA during rush hour traffic, my wife and I decided to dine at Tin Roof Bistro rather than return home to prepare a meal. Based on previous positive experiences, we expected the same level of quality and service historically associated with the establishment. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly and initially received courteous service from our waiter, Brandon. However, several issues arose throughout the course of the meal: We ordered two glasses of wine shortly after being seated. Despite the simplicity of the order, the beverages were not delivered in a timely manner. Our order included: * A Caesar salad to share * Bread service * Two entrées After an extended wait period, I reminded the waiter that the Caesar salad had not yet been served. The salad was then delivered promptly following the reminder. At the time the salad arrived, I specifically requested that the entrées not be brought out until we had finished the salad course. Despite this request, the entrées were delivered within minutes, before we had consumed more than a few bites of the salad. We asked staff to remove the entrées temporarily until we completed the appetizer course. The entrées were eventually re-served and were of good quality. Billing and Point-of-Sale Concerns The primary concern arose during the payment process. The electronic payment screen initially appeared accurate with respect to the total amount due. Based on the displayed total, I elected to leave a 20% gratuity despite the service shortcomings experienced during the meal. After requesting a printed receipt, I discovered the following: * The entrées had been entered twice on the bill. * A corresponding credit had been applied to offset the duplicate charge. * The gratuity calculation, however, appeared to be based on the inflated subtotal before the duplicate entrée credit was applied. This duplicate entry increased the apparent bill total by approximately 54%, which in turn increased the calculated tip amount accordingly. Due to fatigue at the time, I chose not to pursue the matter with management during the visit. However, I also observed a nearby table returning an order, which raises concern that similar billing or service issues may have affected other customers. Concerns and Recommendations Given the increasing public discussion surrounding questionable tipping and point-of-sale practices, this experience raises concerns regarding whether: 1. The issue resulted from an employee action, or 2. The POS system is improperly calculating gratuity suggestions based on inaccurate pre-adjustment totals. While I cannot determine whether this incident was intentional, I strongly recommend that Tin Roof Bistro review its POS system configuration and billing procedures to ensure gratuity calculations are based solely on the actual final total owed by the customer. Additionally, improved coordination between kitchen staff and servers regarding course timing would significantly improve the dining experience. This experience was disappointing, particularly because Tin Roof Bistro has historically maintained a high standard of service and consistency. Although the food quality remained good, the service delays and billing irregularities negatively impacted the overall experience. Should I choose to dine at TRB again, I will pay closer attention to the billing and gratuity calculations before completing payment.

Server Álvaro is an actual SAINT at Saint & Second!…read more I want to start by clarifying that I went to S&S yesterday afternoon ready to cry major boo-hoo tears to my two besties, without much of an appetite. Instead, I ended up with a full belly and side cramps from laughing along with our awesome server, Alvaro. The Man. The Myth. The Legend that he is! Small Backstory: Last Friday I lost my job of almost 25 years in public education due to a complicated work accident (my back was broken & I now have screws in my spine) and I planned to whine to my best friends into a cocktail or two, and get out plenty of Kim Kardashian ugly-cry faces until it would be time to go home. Enter ALVARO! This kind man had the nerve to be polite to us! The nerve! LOL. He greeted us with a warm smile while my cold heart was practically making it snow. He explained all portions of the breathtaking menu when I had planed to eat my sadness. He even had the GALL to say if we wanted something not on the menu that he would see what he could do to make it happen! Here I was, ready to drink Unicorn Tears, and he was cheering me up! WHAT THE??! LOL The three is us started with the MEZZE PLATE. And OH LORD! I think we ate the print off of the plates while trying to get to the last crumb. We polished off a whole extra serving of cucumber slices in the process, by the way, and I'm not embarrassed to say that. The Turkish honey-sweetened labne was such a party in our mouths! Make of that what you will. Each of us got a dinner entre, with mine being the S&S Fish and Chips. I loved that the fillet was not overly battered and the chips had an almost double-Belgium fried taste going on. I couldn't help but swipe several spoons worth of aged-cheddar grits off a friend's seared pork chop plate. Now THOSE were some butter-heaven sent grits! My drink, that kept shooting partially through my nostrils from laughter, was a classic margarita on the rocks. No margaritas were injured/harmed in the process of my belly laughter. At some point towards the end of our night, a patron of the mall next door pulled the site-wide fire alarm, ringing through the whole location for everyone to use caution and head to the closest exit. If you grew up like my friends and I, you don't follow that suggestion unless you're trying to run out on the bill like a jerk. Bless be to Alvaro, he stopped by our table several times to apologize about the noise and flashing lights and explained the fire department was working on it. I explained that the Hood Cricket sound didn't bother us and we were happy to wait out the alarm. So not only did Alvaro provide us with excellent service, an outstanding meal, and generous smiles, but he also made sure that we felt SEEN. And THAT is what made the whole evening worth it. No sadness or cringey tears about a lost job were needed. It ends up all we needed was a server named Alvaro at Saint & Second to make my spirits feel high again. Pricing is a bit high but was totally worth it! Patrons were dressed business casual. Sound level, not counting the hood cricket, was mid and conversation was easy to have. Several televisions were playing different stations but no captions were provided. There is handicap parking available in the parking garage located just outside the front door of the establishment and no stairs or elevators are needed to enter. There are several entrances/exits to the available outdoor seating area and outdoor heaters are available. Glances around showed me that every patron I saw was tucking into their plates with smiles and were enjoying themselves. I have already made plans to return to S&S in another two weeks because it was indeed THAT GOOD! And for those fine diners that are wondering, "But what is a Hood Cricket?" An HC is a chirping fire-alarm that some of us are able to tune out with ease. You're welcome!

They have a little bit of everything from avocado toast to pancakes to sandwiches. The service left a little to be desired. It seemed very slow even though we arrived not long after they opened and things were fairly quiet. It took a while to get requested items like creamer, receive our food and have our plates cleared.

There's a real chew here--a springy, structured bite that gives just enough resistance before yielding. It's deeply satisfying and makes every dish feel more intentional. The cappelloni shows it off best: that almost-famous sauce wraps around each piece, but the pasta holds its own, so you get that perfect balance of silky and structured. Same with the tangiello--the meat sauce tastes like it's been simmering for days, rich and layered, but the noodles never get lost because that chew carries through. The Caesar isn't an afterthought either. It's got a subtle spicy kick that wakes everything up, and if you add chicken, it's done right--well-seasoned, nicely grilled, juicy with a bit of char. It turns a classic into something you actually remember. Dinner is where things go a little heartier, and the pork chop delivers. Fall-off-the-bone tender, but still full of flavor--not just soft for the sake of it. Jame just gets the fundamentals right, then pushes a little further. Thoughtful, textured, and the kind of place where even the chew of the pasta becomes part of the experience.

It is always a pleasure to dine in downtown in El Segundo and I was excited to finally check out…read moreJame Enoteca, which is located right at the heart of area. I was impressed with the clean and modern look of Jane Enoteca from the moment I walked in. Their dishes consist of several handmade pastas, salads and Italian inspired comfort food. My friend and I chose to start our meals with the Meatballs and Brussels Sprouts. Being a Brussels Sprouts fan, I really enjoyed their roasted crispy Brussels sprouts that were tossed in schiaffoni dressing and finished with sesame. Equal in deliciousness were their Meatballs. The Meatballs were tender, rich and saucy. These starters were a great way to kick off our meal here. For our mains, we got their Paccheri Lisci and Tonnarelli. The Paccheri Lisci had a bit of a spicy kick to it. It has spicy pork sausage sugo, fennel, sage and pecorino. It was meaty and flavorful. The Tonnarelli or Cacio e Pepe contrasted nicely with the Paccheri Lisci. This pasta dish was simple, sharp and peppery. This was more bold versus saucy. Last but not least we had some cookies for dessert. I loved the fresh baked snickerdoodle and chocolate chip cookies. It was a sweet and perfect ending to the meal here. Overall, I really enjoyed dining at Jame Enoteca. I am now looking forward to trying out their sister restaurant Jame Taqueria down the street.

Stopped by BrewCo Manhattan Beach for their lunch special and had a really nice experience overall…read more We ordered the chicken pot pie, roasted cauliflower, and the Smash Burger Americana with onion rings. The roasted cauliflower was hands down the best part of the meal. It was seasoned so well and honestly addictive. I could not get enough of it. The chicken pot pie came out piping hot and was really good, super comforting and flavorful. My only small wish is that it had pastry on the bottom too, since it would have soaked up all the juices. The burger was fine but nothing special. I think it could have used some lettuce and tomato to help tie everything together. The onion rings were solid. Service was good and it was not too crowded for lunch, which made it a relaxed and enjoyable place to sit and eat.

We ordered the Crab cake, perfectly packed together where it wasn't too dense but gently molded. It was packed with umami and this refreshing citrus after taste..it was so damn good. French fries, were a must crispy tasty fries did not disappoint. Spanish octopus, cooked to perfection- lots of interesting flavors and textures we enjoyed. Lastly we shared the tacos (1 cod 1 shrimp), tasty fat tacos. Accompanied with fresh chips and the guac and salsa that was tasty. What really set it for us, was while we were wrapping up the meal. Me and fiancé were toasting to my late dad, today was his birthday. Well we asked for the check and planned to skip dessert. Well before we left our server had packed us the key lime pie to take home..just because. God lord, the timing of toasting my dad, and the generosity had me literally fighting tears. It really was a remarkable meal, we loved every bite. Our server whoever you are your f*cking wondeful and the team you are doing amazing work thank you.
