A charming mom-and-pop shop, we originally came in for their desserts but were seriously tempted by the smell of their pizza. It's a small spot with a few tables out front, perfect for a casual treat. The desserts were absolutely delicious. We tried their tiramisu and cannolis, and both were phenomenal, especially for the price. The staff was super friendly and gave us great suggestions on what to order. What a little gem!

Ordered online and said it would be ready for pickup by 6:27 pm but it was actually ready at 6:45pm so the website should give more accurate pickup time. The pizza was okay, the crust is super doughy+ pale and the pizza was thin. Did not taste or see any white sauce on the pizza like it should have. The pasta needs a lot more sauce on the pasta it was $19.50 but not worth it. The picture of the pasta looks good only because the cheese on top. Once I got in there there was barely any sauce. Specifically asked for utensils and napkins but did not get any.

Finding a place to eat in downtown Carlisle on a Monday evening is harder the you'd think, and so we honestly stumbled on Nonna Ilva. I'm glad we did, because I was very impressed with the quality and the atmosphere. The food was delicious and reasonably priced for the portion sizes. My calzone was gigantic and PACKED with meats and cheeses (I think I'll go with one of their appetizer mini calzones next time) and the large cheese pizza provided more than enough for my wife and three kids. Also a the gelato is home made and WOW it's worth it! We had chocolate and it was out of this world! Don't get me wrong - I love Rita's, but this is on a whole other level! The staff was very friendly - the guy who took our order was super personable, asked questions, and said he tries to remember everyone local who comes through. It's mostly outdoor seating with only a couple of seats inside, but that worked out perfect for us! Highly recommend!

We have passed Nonna Ilva's and wanted to try it. They have many options on the menu including pizza, salads, panini, rice balls, and desserts. They have canned soda including Diet Coke. We tried a large cheese pizza. It was delicious! The crust is thin and was easier for me to eat when I folded it over. There are two bar type shelves inside with stools for eating as well as several tables outside. There is street parking. Many people came through while we were waiting for our pizza to pick up takeout orders. I will definitely go back to try other items on the menu.

One of the best pizzas I have had in many years. Carlisle has many pizza places, but they are often mediocre yet popular. Local opinion is often a bit insular and bland. My reference points are the superb pizzas in NJ/NY/CT that are memorable for high quality and flavor. The pizza I ordered had homemade Italian sausage on it and mushrooms that didn't come out of a can. The sauce, cheese, and dough (crust) were amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant to those who really appreciate a great pizza.

We had a terrific cheese pizza with sautéed onions that was delicious; the rich, gorgonzola salad was also wonderful.

Looking to treat myself a little on a cold, gray Wednesday afternoon, I decided to finally stop…read moreinto Denim Coffee in Carlisle. I've walked and driven past it many times but had somehow never made it inside. Since Denim was also participating in the 2026 Cumberland Valley Coffee & Chocolate Trail, it felt like the perfect excuse to check it out and grab a quick late-afternoon pick-me-up. I walked in around 4pm and found a handful of people inside -- some chatting quietly, others working on laptops. The space was clean, calm, and welcoming, with soft music playing overhead. The woman at the counter was an absolute sunbeam on an otherwise dreary afternoon, greeting me warmly and happily taking my order. I went with an iced coffee with sugar-free vanilla syrup (extra sweet, please!) and oat milk. Total came to $5.25. While she prepared my drink, I took a moment to look around and realized what a great view Denim offers from their bar seating area. Full glass windows with stools looking out over the square in Carlisle make it a fantastic people-watching spot. That afternoon, the Farmers Market was set up across the square, and it was fun watching people dash between stands while dodging raindrops to grab their weekly goodies. It struck me as a perfect place to meet a friend, spend a few hours working on a laptop, or just decompress with a coffee and watch the world go by. Denim also had a small sweet treat case with snacks that would pair nicely with coffee. I stuck with just the drink this time, but everything looked tempting enough that I'd definitely consider adding a pastry next visit. A few minutes later my name was called and my drink was waiting at the end of the counter. One interesting touch: they placed the container of oat milk beside my coffee so I could add exactly as much as I wanted. It's a small detail, but not something you see at many coffee shops, and I appreciated the flexibility. The iced coffee itself was excellent. Unlike some places where iced coffee tastes like watered-down brown liquid, Denim's actually tasted like coffee -- strong, smooth, and delivering a solid caffeine boost. Overall: great service, really good coffee, reasonable prices, and a cozy spot right in the heart of town. The only real challenge is parking since it's so close to the square. Street parking is available nearby, but depending on the time of day you may need to circle a bit. All in all, a great little coffee stop and I'm glad I finally walked through the door.
