Went here for a late lunch, this place has a great atmosphere! We got the Jasmine Limonade with lychee popping boba wich was such a delicious drink! We got the Fresh Roll with shrimp for a appetizer which was so good, and then got the spicy green beans and crispy chicken pad Thai for our main dishes. Lunch with the BF and our toddler in tow. Mason Jars were a cute touch for drinks. Mango juice was tasty. Thicker than expected but still good. Pot stickers are a great go to appetizer. The chicken satay is another good choice as an appetizer. The sauce served with it is okay. Fisherman's fury was yummy. I feel like it was the same as the Seafood Thai wine entree I ordered previously but this was cooked in Sriracha sauce. Tasted my BF's chili basil fish entree and it was delicious. Spicy and steaming hot. The waiter kept our sodas full and made sure to give my son a to go cup of water when he was more than half way thru with his mango juice. I've been dozens of times and the food has progressively gotten.. not as good. Not seasoned enough, too watery, etc. I would avoid anything with veggies (i.e. Basil Fried Rice) or substitute it because they're a little.. raw :/ The drinks are.. okay. This became an instant favorite of mine having zoomed passed it many times. Decided to explore with the lunch menu combos since I'm price conscious but also love to eat out and eat well. Combo menu entree range from $8-$10 bucks plus ad soup salad and appetizers for an extra $2. And go hungry. I rarely ever receive take out that is soooo terrible but my experience with Noodle Barn in JP was beyond appalling!! The much anticipated Banh Mi was inedible. I asked for NO pate and of course it was drenched in pate and dry all dark meat chicken. Awful. The crepe was somehow burnt on the outside but so cold, and soggy from grease it too was inedible. The "crispy" chicken fried rice was again all dark meat chicken that was totally burnt but was still dripping with grease. The only good item was the crab rangoon. Actually contained crab and was not burnt. I tried several other dishes that were just tasteless so we were even more upset that the peanut sauce we ordered wasn't included, was hoping to add SOME flavor to the food but foiled again. I was so excited that I could get delivery from Noodle Barn in JP as we are 20 minutes away in East Walpole. I pre-ordered at 4:30pm for delivery between 6-6:30pm. Uber Eats updated my estimated delivery time to 5:43pm but it arrived at 6:40pm ok fine. Everything was freezing cold so assuming the fault was with Uber Eats from being in the car more than 45 minutes. Only 1of 6 dishes was fit to eat, Noodle Barn you should be ashamed. read more

Really, really excellent food here. Great value and everything tastes so delicious. Service is decent. You sometimes have to remind the server about a drink or an appetizer that gets forgotten but for the most part, everyone is very friendly and pretty attentive. While the portion sizes are pretty generous, I feel that they are a bit stingy when it comes to protein. I ordered Tom Yum soup and got this HUGE bowl of soup with lots of noodles and tomatoes and mushrooms but only 2 pieces of shrimp and maybe 4 oz. of chicken. Left a bit to be desired, to be honest. I wouldn't mind paying $2 more for more protein. Other than that, I really enjoy the food here and will continue to visit when I'm in the JP area. read more

I looked up some reviews on Yelp before choosing my plate (my roommate was ordering on uber eats) and found a great review about the Mi Hai San - egg noodles with shrimp, muscles, and squid. Although the squid was a bit undercooked, I'm giving this 5 stars because everything else was AWESOME and it did not take away from the uniquely great takeout experience (I don't usually have fantastic experiences, usually the meh to mediocre variety). What a great little find! A group of us were staying in JP for about a week and we decided to try this little place and we're so glad we did. We ordered: fish garlic, mi hoanh thanh soup, papaya salad, crispy chicken pad Thai, yellow curry with tofu, larb, and mi xao. Everything was delicious The best dishes were the fish garlic; fried fish in an amazing garlic sauce and served with rice and veggies (literally the best). The papaya salad was so fresh and was served with good sized shrimps (instead of the dried shrimps). If I lived near by I would be there often lol. Got some takeout from here on Friday night (~25 minute wait) and it was decent, particularly for value. To start, the curry puffs app came with 3 medium-sized pastry-wrapped, mashed potato-stuffed pockets that were tasty, albiet not what I was expecting (was thinking they'd be less doughy). I'm a sucker for bun with pork, and it's well-priced here at $10, and came with a good amount of fresh cabbage/bean sprouts and rice noodles. The pork wasn't really to my liking though- it was thick strips instead of large thin slices, was a bit overcharred (some pieces were totally black and crunchy), and was far too fatty than I like to be. I also would have liked a bit more carrots/cukes/peanuts in the mix, and prefer a slightly more flavorful/thicker version of nuoc cham. So, not my favorite bun, but it'll do the trick in a pinch. The khao soi was deceptively spicy, the kind of spicy that's hidden in the first bite or two but slowly grows and grows until your mouth is on fire, so you'll enjoy it if that's up your alley. Good textural contrast between the crispy and soft noodles too. Note that they do unfortunately use styrofoam for takeout (weirdly, 2 of our 3 items were styrofoam but the 3rd was recyclable plastic, so they definitely have that option available, grr). read more

I was in JP today and was in the mood for Pad Thai. My first impression of this place is that its cozy and modern, the waitress greeted me as soon as I walked in but she wasnt that friendly, she seemed irritated for some reason. I ordered a traditional Pad Thai with shrimp and chicken. Yelp says that 3-stars means "Ok". And that's what this place is for me. First time, I ordered the JP Noodles. I must have missed the warning but these noodles are spicy af. The second order I made was their pad thai. It was a little on the sweet side, which I was not a fan of. I also wish the pad thai came with a slice of lime that I could drizzle onto the noodles. The rice noodles of the pad thai were cooked well but either the sweetness was overpowering, or the other flavors and spices were underwhelming. It is nice that the dish came with both shrimp and chicken though for $11. Typically it would come with one or the other. The chicken was breast meat. It went with the noodles well but did not wow me. The shrimp was a little on the soft side which made me believe it was perhaps not from a decent batch of shrimp. I feel like good, fresh shrimp meat should have that firm texture to it. I think the experience of this place is much nicer when you decide to dine in. The ambience sets a romantic or intimate tone. The menu has a wide variety of dishes so I think I'd like to come back one last time to give their pho a try. Attractive little restaurant. I have been a couple of times meeting friends for lunch. I found the food bland. First time Mango Curry, pineapples and mangos were soft and soggy, the rest of the dish was just alright. I usually get that dish at Pho Basil on Mass Ave Boston and it's delish! Second time Thai fried rice. Awfully bland, dull and tasteless. I don't think I will be going back. Noodle Barn is a cute little place in Jamaica Plain. It's well-lit and has lots of beautiful traditional Asian artwork hanging on the walls. They were playing some pop hits, which seemed a little out of place for the feel of the restaurant, but didn't bother me. We were seated immediately. The servers were very attentive and checked on our table often. I ordered a bowl of tofu pho, which was a very large bowl full of veggies and noodles. The soup was a little bland without the addition of hoisin sauce and sriracha, but the tofu was soft and the vegetables were the perfect amount of crunchy. Great food for the price. JP needed a good option like this! We've only been once so far but it was fast, fresh and delicious. Lots of vegetarian options. I uploaded the takeout menu and the little green leaf next to the dishes signify that it can be made as a veggie option. We had tofu vermicelli (bun) bowls and fresh spring rolls. It was delicious and a much healthier takeout option than many other places in the neighborhood. Looking forward to trying more! I've tried to call this place on 3 separate occasions, the first 2 times they simply have an auto answering service. My husband was nice enough to physically go and order. Spicy lemongrass noodles were good and the panang was good but seriously lacking in portion size. The amount of rice they gave us was laughable...basically less than a cup. I am a huge fan of this place, and to keep it simple, I order the same noodle dish every single time I come here. My husband, however, rotates between two. So this 5-star review is based on 3 dishes, their stellar service, and their generous wine pour. If you know something is good, you stick with it. Right? That is how I feel about Mi Hai San. Stay with me now folks, I am ONLY talking about a noodle dish. Mi Hai is a huge bowl of egg noodles combined with shrimp, green mussels, and squid. It comes with a plate of bean sprouts and basil. Very generous with the seafood, and the broth has so much flavor that you won't need to be messin' with it. Also, if you are not a fan of spicy food, this is the perfect dish for you. My husband rotates between Tom Kah Noodle Soup (picture below) and Pad Kee Mow Noodle (sorry, no picture). He likes both with equal gusto....it just depends on whether he's in the mood for a Pho or not. Both dishes are too spicy for me, so I apologize if I can't describe them for you. I just know they're both spicy hot and he loves them despite being drenched in sweat. They do serve beer and wine. If you need a quick perk up, their Vietnamese coffee will do the job. They also have Thai iced tea, fresh mango juice, coconut juice with blocks of coconut (literally blocks), and smoothies. Can I give you a suggestion? Look over their menu online prior to coming here. Not because they will rush you (quite the opposite because they are so sweet and friendly), but because their menu is a thousand pages long. I guarantee it will overwhelm you. It will take you a week and a half to go through it. Can I give you another suggestion? Don't waste your time trying to find parking on Centre St (you need that time to look over the menu!!). The Municipal Parking Lot is right behind the restaurant which gives you 2 hours of FREE parking Monday through Saturday, and FREE on Sundays with no limit. What happened to the food? Eeek. The banh mi used a sub roll, not a baguette. Granted the menu lists French bread, specifically baquette. Yet traditionally the bread is a baquette. Not a Wonderbread type bread roll not fit for an Italian sub. The flavor was deficient. I expected the usual melange of flavors that I can not create at home. This sandwich had some heat, an abundance of cilantro but none of the unique flavor that helps make this a memorable kind of meal. The crispy duck gets an unhappy quack. The skin should be as advertised: crispy. Not slithery, soft and sloppy skin. The duck meat? Nevermind. Chicken would have been better. Have had many meals from this restaurant. Based on tonight's meal the food has drastically declined in quaity, in spite of increasing in cost. This seems to be the only restaurant serving pho in this part of JP (near Forest Hill), but after my first experience at this restaurant, I think making the trip up to Chinatown is worth it. This place is overpriced for the quality of the food and all of the 3 people that ordered Pho Dac Biet (the pho dish that I use to judge pho restaurants) with me got sick the next day. The broth was lukewarm and it also meant that the rare beef slices were too rare. The noodles were alright and the broth was okay. the appetizers (fresh spring rolls and mussels with herbs) were just okay, but the quality and portion did not match the price. read more

Wide selection of all types of noodles in the middle of Center Street in Jamaica Plains. If you are craving a particular type of Asian dish or noodle dish, they probably have it. We were visiting from Oakland and did not feel the pho or the bun compares well with cheaper Vietnamese restaurants in general. The Thai ice tea was good. The prices are fair though and if you are in JP, it's a nice place to stop in. read more
