Noodle Dynasty opened 3 years ago where Thai Noodle 2 was. Infrastructure, seating similar with a slight change of decorations. They opened 15 minutes early on Mother's Day. Inside seating only. Waited to be seated per notice. Given a tablet to order on. I didn't know how to turn it on. Associate did so. Staff spoke Mandarin, Cantonese & English. Ordered on tablet, paid. Got water soon without a cup. It arrived minutes later. Soup came within 10 minutes. After soup came, no check-ins. Offerings (Chinese): appetizers, lo mein, noodle soup, specialty stir fries, soup, stir fries... Slurps: lamb noodle soup in 8-hour broth (16.99) - boiling hot broth had savory unami. - overcooked, slightly mushy thin noodles mixed with boiled radish slices, sesame seeds, cilantro, green onions. No veggies Semi-tasty lamb slices. -pretty good. Not wowed. Many new Chinese noodle shops have opened in Berkeley in the past year. 4 ish stars. Service: wham bam! Thank U ma'am/man. None after bringing entree. Quality: reasonable. Quantity: ingredients skimpy. May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
Came here on a Sunday evening at 7:00pm, the line was long but it moved pretty quick and we got seated in around 20-30 mins for party of 2. We ordered the beef noodle soup with the 8‑hour broth, the pickled cabbage and fish fillet noodle soup, and a cucumber appetizer. Everything was really tasty, both noodle soups hit the spot with generous portion. The cucumber was refreshing with balanced sesame seasoning. Definitely a place we'd come back to just to try more things on the menu. Highlights for me: The daikon in the beef noodle soup is so soft and flavorful and the portion of noodles they give you. We got the non‑spicy broth with thin noodles, which ended up being super similar to the noodles in the pickled cabbage and fish fillet soup. The pickled cabbage in other bowl gives this extra kick that makes it stand out.
Get there early! We were 10 mins early and they let us sit down, it was packed before they even officially opened! This place came at a recommendation and it did not disappoint. They made the food fast, had big portions, and it was delicious. I took off one star because Service was not friendly, and they didn't serve people in order of sit down (a little annoying as we were first ones there but didn't get menu or order taken until 5 customers later). But overall, I would come back to this place.
Love this place! One of the few places left that will give you good food fast at a decent price. I've tried the fish soup and their classic soup. Both are great. The portions are also quite generous. It's no wonder they are always full! Beware of the line at dinner rush. Service is quick. The place is clean, perhaps a bit small but not that cramped.
This was one of the most recommended spots when I was looking for dinner around the UC Berkeley area, and the line outside definitely backed that up. It's clearly a popular place and there's almost always a line. We went around 6pm on a Saturday and luckily only waited about 15 minutes, but when we left the line was way longer, so definitely plan ahead. While waiting, you can look at the menu outside which helped a lot since we already knew what we wanted when we sat down. Inside, the space is really nice with brick walls, dark wood tables, plants, and a strong eastern Chinese style. Most tables are for groups of 1-3, so bigger parties might have a harder time getting seated. We were seated at a small table for two with an extra chair, and honestly the table was tiny. Once the food came out, it felt cramped trying to fit everything Ordering is done through a tablet at the table. You order and pay right there which I actually liked because it's fast, you don't have to flag anyone down, and you get pictures of the dishes. We got the house special bone-in beef rib noodle soup in the spicy version. It came out looking amazing with dried chilis, cilantro, green onions, and peanuts on top. The broth was savory with a mild kick, not too spicy. The thick noodles were chewy and bouncy and the beef was incredibly tender. For about $20, it easily fed three people, so that was a great deal and easily the best thing we ordered. We also got the chili pork wontons. The filling was fine and the wrapper was thin, but the chili oil lacked flavor and didn't really bring any heat. It just tasted oily and kind of flat. I've definitely had better wontons, so I wouldn't get this again. Lastly, we tried the salt and pepper chicken soft bone. It's fried chicken cartilage with onions and peppers. The texture was actually really enjoyable, crispy on the outside with that soft crunch inside. The onions were strong but added flavor. My only issue was that it was way tooooo salty, even for a salt and pepper dish. Balance is still key. Overall, I think this is a solid spot. That beef noodle soup alone is worth trying, but the rest of the dishes didn't really stand out to me. I'm glad I tried it, but I don't think it's somewhere I would go back to regularly.
Visited this noodle shop bc my daughter's feed kept suggesting this place & it truly is a gem in the Telegraph area. While the appeal is for UC students, it is equally appealing to me bc of the reasonable price point & generous portions. The only frustrating part of this experience was the waiter kept calling singles or double patrons, meanwhile an hr. & 15 min.pass & I'm still waiting in line. I was almost going to divide my group of 4 into doubles if he called another time for double patrons. So my advice is to either go alone or with 1 friend. Orders: Appetizer-Lamb Skewers(4) $10.99 a bold cumin, chili powder & salt seasoning makes this a perfect appetizer to my noodle dish. The meat was pretty tender as well so for me it is a must order item. Beef Noodle Soup in 8 hr.Broth-you have the option of choosing either Thick/Thin/Rice noodles, we decided on Thin noodles & it was perfect. You can also choose your Spice Level between Spicy or Non-Spicy. Since Spicy foods are too intense for me at this Sichuan restaurant, I decided on a Non-spicy soup base. The sizable bowl easily accommodated me & my daughter. The soup was amazingly filled w/so much flavor from the 8 hr.cooking that if I was famished, I could see myself eating the entire bowl by myself. The slices of beef were tender, so I was a very happy camper. This would be my go to order if I were by myself. House Special Beef Rib 24 hr.Slow Cooked- both the noodle & spice level options were available so it was thin noodles w/no spicy component. Since the beef & broth were cooked for a day, the meat practically fell off the bone. The clear comforting flavors of the broth really soothed our souls & palate. On a wet & rainy day, Noodle Dynasty really warms the soul, heart & stomach!
Well, I've been sleeping on this spot. Mostly because I have kids who don't eat anything, but this recent expedition was a success. I was feeling under the weather and needed hot brothy soup and this place delivered (in this sense metaphorically, as I dined in). While I went with the wonton soup with noodle, and I wouldn't order it again, it was delicious and plentiful at $20 - easily two meals for a lighter eater. However, I think there was opportunity for a more flavorful option. The brisket here is so great. My kids got the sesame noodles plain and the regular noodles with brisket, bot without soup. And while the sesame noodles were solid, the brisket was delicious. Show stealing. The fried doughnut/bread balls with condensed milk were delicious and the potstickers were solid. There is a perpetual line, but it goes quickly. You order everything at once via the ipad and they drop it off at your table. Fast casual eats, big portions, mid prices (everything is about $17-$20)... I see why college kids flock here.
This place gets busy not just because it is near UC Berkeley's campus, but also because the noodles are amazing. The taste and the broth have a flavor reminiscent of Asia. They also offer other items like lamb skewers and chicken knuckles, which I really love. The wait time can be long, but it's worth it. You cannot call ahead for seating; everyone must wait in line before being seated. The ambiance is cozy. Well worth the wait.
A Berkeley crown jewel! I came here with a friend before we saw a show at Zellerbach. She'd heard very good things from her Berkeley friends so we were excited to try it! We walked up round 6pm on a Saturday night, there was already a fairly sizeable line out the door. We almost didn't wait in it, but I'm glad we did (also the line moved pretty quickly.) You sit down and scan a QR code and order that way. Service is efficient but good and quick. Tea is extra. I ordered the Fish filet noodle soup and she ordered the beef brisket noodle soup. Portions were large--I took some home. Price is pretty good (maybe because students?) I liked the fish filet one better. The beef brisket one seemed overly-spicy (and it looked even redder than mine!) even though we both ordered medium spicy. We both coughed a bit from the spice. Mine had quite a bit of fish and I liked the veggies too. The broth was rich and savory. Noodles were wonderful consistency and chewiness. The interior is pretty clean and nice for an Asian restaurant. Nothing fancy, but some cute details and decor.
This place has such great reviews that we had to make a trip out here. Glad to say I was pleasantly surprised definitely come early because there's always a line we came around 5:30 right before the dinner rush and still waited about 15 minutes. The line normally goes out the door. Spicy beef noodle is one of my favorite dishes, and we were very impressed at the flavorful broth and the amount of noodles and meat even if you're really hungry, they're still some to take home Definitely worth checking out if you're in the mood for Noodles
I've wanted to check out Noodle Dynasty for some time now. Every time I pass by this place it's packed with students and their parents... so I had to see what was up. I went with a buddy early on a Friday evening and we were able to get in after about a 15-20 minute wait. The line moves pretty efficiently. Once you get to your table you are prompted to order by QR code. For some reason I was tempted to order a bunch of lamb that night so I went with the lamb noodle soup as well an order of lamb skewers. Firstly, the soup was excellent. Really good flavor with tender, flavorful lamb and ample veggies as well. In my opinion, the portion is fairly generous for a bowl that is under 20 bucks, so I get why this spot is popular with college kids. Now the skewers, these were amazing! Juicy, fatty lamb bites with tons of a cumin spice blend sprinkled on top. They were an excellent addition to the meal. My buddy also really enjoyed his beef and wonton soup as well. I would say come hungry to this place as the soup bowl is honestly enough for two portions. Definitely try the meat skewers as well if you're hungry enough. The service here is low touch but efficient. QR codes to order with waiters standing around and moving orders. Check out Noodle Dynasty if you're in the mood for some hearty soup!
Delicious noodles, great appetizers. I love this place! We waited in line for around an hour shortly after they opened on a Saturday afternoon. They are always super busy and it is because they are delicious and super affordable! I got the classic beef noodle soup and the noodles are chewy and fresh. The soup broth is refreshing and umami. The meat is tender and flavorful. We also got an appetizer and the portion sizes are huge! I would definitely come back to Noodle Dynasty if I'm ever in the area! It is a great addition in Berkeley.
Noodle Dynasty is always a solid choice for a meal when you are in Berkeley. Ever since it opened, it has been a popular spot with a line outside. They are most known for their Beef Noodle Soups, and although the space is smaller, it has a decent amount of seating for its size. Personally, I am a dry noodle eater, so I have been trying their other dishes to see if it's just as good. So far, they have been okay! Not bad, but definitely not the best dry noodle dish I had. I recently tried their Tomato Beef Noodle, and I thought that although it was hearty, the sauce could use more umami. However, Noodle Dynasty is never a bad choice to enjoy a meal, and I will always recommend it! read more

Soooo overhyped.... It's $20-27 for a bowl of straight oil, salt, and flavorless ingredients. I genuinely hate to be so disappointed because it's such a long line with lots of crowds but every dish was disappointing. Cucumber salad: refreshing (because it's cold), but otherwise, no flavor, doused in oil, barely taste the chili. So basic and you can tell it hasn't been marinated for quality flavor. Beef/lamb noodle soup: huge portion, but it's impossible to finish because you get sick of chowing down the oil, flavorless overly fatty meat, and can't enjoy the spice at all because it's not quality ingredients. Fried salt and pepper chicken bites: it would've been a solid 4/5 for me if it was fried chicken MEAT instead of the fried chicken cartilage that I was served. It says it's boneless but what's the point of boneless fried chicken if it's cartilage. Honestly the garlic, fried onions, and water with orange slices were the highlight of the meal.... Go to Himalayan Bite if you want quality food (not Chinese...Obviously) read more

Outstanding noodle shop on Telegraph Ave in Berkeley! I love Noodle Dynasty--it's hands down one of my favorite noodle spots I've been to. There is usually a line out the door (the wait from my experience has been around 20 min for both lunch or dinner) but it's so worth it! They have a large variety of different noodle soups, which have been consistently great each time I've stopped by, with flavorful broth and perfectly bouncy noodles. One of the biggest standouts of this restaurant is their portion size--their bowls are huge! I usually can only finish half and take the rest home as takeout (2 meals in 1). The service is fast and consistent while the ambiance is busy and lively. 10/10 spot. Definitely one of my top recs in for food in Berkeley! read more

Hand made potstickers, chili oil wonton, and beef brisket noodles are my three must-order dishes here. The potstickers have a thicker dough but are packed with juicy, tender meat. The chili oil wontons are silky and delicate, with slippery wrappers embracing a savory, juicy filling. The beef brisket noodles are incredibly comforting, featuring slow-braised beef full of flavor, a rich aromatic broth, and perfectly springy noodles. I always look forward to trying new food items when in the East Bay and this place didn't disappoint. It was about a 30-40 minute wait with a line out the door, but it was hands down one of the best places I've ever tried. The noodles are handmade and the taste is spot on. read more
The spicy beef noodle soup here is so heart-warming and delicious! Don't let the long line deter you, as it moves pretty quickly. The operations here are clearly efficient, and service is good. The only reason why I'm not giving this a 5-star rating is that although the noodle soup was tasty, I thought it should/could have been spicier or more numbing from the szechuan peppers. The chili paste that is provided on the side didn't really add to the spice so I wasn't able to get that numbing profile that you usually do from these types of noodle soups. read more

My family and I came to noodle dynasty after hearing friends rave about it. Definitely come earlier than opening time. You will have to wait in line for other diners to finish their food and there is no option to put your name on the waitlist. We came at opening and waited for about 40 minutes before we were seated. This restaurant is well worth the wait. I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup. The soup bowl is huge and very spicy. The thick noodles are chewy and delicious. The soup is spicy and savory. The menu items are well priced too. I would highly recommend this restaurant to others. The service is fast and efficient, and they do their best to seat everyone as quickly as they can. The restaurant is a bit small for how popular it is, but well worth the wait. read more

While visiting the brother-in-law, we were strolling and he mentioned this restaurant has really good food & good ambiance. Initially first thought the line is way too long but as soon as we worked our way back around the line seems to be going by pretty quickly. We waited at most 10 mins. Ppl really just eat and move on maybe they're conscientious since seating can be limited and the line can get long quickly. But the wait is worth it! Each dishes was delicious and flavorful. Well worth the price. I really enjoyed the smashed cucumbers it balanced the other meals. We got a few dishes that didn't make it to the pics they got devoured . We will definitely be back. read more
Northern chinese noodles within 5 minute walking distance from south side of campus. They have snackpass so you can convienently order online if you want to get it togo. Small place with less than 10 tables inside so be prepared to wait during peak times. I loved the restaurant's decor and choice of furniture because it really matched the open chinese restaurant vibe. house special beef rib ($20) Tomato and egg lo mein ($14) -- please skip this it had a ton of raw onion and carrots and a super thick tomato/ketchup sauce that was not good at all Beef noodle soup ($15) Chicken fried rice ($15) Portion size is really big and these 4 dishes were too much for my party of 5 people. Went during the dinner rush on a Friday and the wait time was ~50 min, which if you're with a friend isn't too bad Once you're in, you're likely to be seat beside strangers because space is limited but I honestly didn't mind and thought is a cool and unique experience. Ambiance is good, service is quick, though the workers are sometimes and understandably forgetful because there was a lot going on. I ordered the House Special Beef Rib (Bone-in) Noodle Soup In 24-Hour Cooked Broth 私房牛骨面 for ~25$ including tax which for how much you get is an excellent price. The meat was a just little bit tough for it being 24-hoirs cooked but was still tender. I got it spicy and the broth itself wasn't really spicy but be careful of biting the kernels cuz that'll jump straight to the back of your throat. Overall. It's good and would recommend and like how I had enough for leftovers. read more

I ordered the beef brisket noodle soup, which had very flavorful, tender beef. The broth was very flavorful without being too salty; however, it had a slightly weird radish aftertaste. The portion of beef and noodles was generous. I also had the hand made potstickers, which were warm and tasty. read more
My tip is to line up outside of Noodle Dynasty before it opens at 12 so you can be seated right away! There is always a line and not a ton of indoor seating. The beef noodle soup is amazing and the lamb skewers also taste really fresh. My family loves eating here for authentic Chinese noodles! The portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. read more
This place is popping! I came right when they opened at 5pm, and it was already packed. It's a small, super popular noodle place right near university and I can understand why. The portions are big and it was affordable. It's a quick dine in experience where you order on the iPad and pay immediately before you get the food. We got the spicy beef noodle soup, spicy beef rib (bone-in) noodle soup, and spicy lamb (bone-in) noodle soup. The beef was super tender, and the radish that came with it complements the dish and oiliness of it. I'm not a big fan of lamb since it's a bit gamey for me, but if you like lamb, you'll probably enjoy that one. The spicy wasn't spicy to me but it made the dish very oily. I'd go for the regular version next time so I can taste the broth better. By the time we finished around 5:30pm, there was a long line outside. read more

Noodle Dynasty is always busy, so you should expect to wait a bit, but honestly it is worth every minute. The food here is amazing and this spot has quickly become one of my favorites in Berkeley. My table all went for the House Special Beef Rib in the 24-hour cooked broth, both spicy and non-spicy. Both versions were packed with flavor. The beef was fall-off-the-bone tender and so comforting. I loved the spicy one with the peppercorn kick, but the broth is pretty oily so it is not the type of soup you can sip on. The non-spicy broth was still delicious and much easier to enjoy by the spoonful. The bowls come with radish, cilantro, and noodles. I tried different noodle types and the thick noodles were my favorite since they held onto the broth so well and had that perfect chewy bite. The portions are very generous. Honestly, two people could easily share one bowl and still feel full. We also got the mantou and it was fantastic. You get six pieces, perfectly golden on the outside and soft and fluffy inside, served at the perfect temperature. Dipping them into the condensed milk was heavenly. Definitely a must-order.We tried some skewers too, but I would skip those. They were dry and not nearly as good as the noodles. The place is literally called Noodle Dynasty, so trust me, stick with the noodle dishes and you will not be disappointed. Overall, this place is a total win. On a cold day in Berkeley, this is the perfect place to go to warm up and eat some noodles. The restaurant is always full and for good reason--the noodles were delicious! The broth was so flavorful and warm, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. The inside of the restaurant is clean and orderly, with comfortable seating. The service was quick and kind. The portion sizes are very generous and the noodles are priced well. I even needed a To-Go box just to bring the noodles home with me! :) read more

The line does move quickly because you order and pay via iPad and the food comes out pretty fast. Seemed like the bone in spicy beef noodle soup was the thing to get and it didn't disappoint. Noodles are chewy and the soup was not that spicy. My 8 year old was able to handle the heat. The cucumber salad was really fresh, spicy, and tasty. The lamb skewers are salty but go well with the noodle soup. Nice spot to grab some Chinese food. read more

Noodle Dynasty is a Chinese restaurant serving typical noodles and rice, but it's the noodle soup that draws the most recognition. Ate dinner here with my friend last night from a recommendation. We arrived around 15 minutes before it opened. Good thing we arrived early, there was a line right when it opened. When we finished eating, there were at least 30 people in line. This shows you how good the food is and how long people are willing to wait for. Ordered the Beef Brisket and Wonton Noodle Soup and shared with my friend. The portion size is relatively big for one person. Food Quality: Very good flavor, very fresh. Beef Brisket was very tender. A Price: Reasonable, around 15-20 dollars each dish. Typical price for a college area restaurant. A-/B+ Ambiance/Service: Very busy store, but attentive staff. Service is as expected for an Asian restaurant. B+ Overall Rating: A-. I would say that if I went to UC Berkeley, it would be on my rotating list of places to eat. It's the line that is a drawback but then again, people will wait if the food is good. Would I come back: Maybe, if I'm in the area again, and only if I'm able to not wait in line. read more

Tip: to skip the line, just order online on Snackpass, pick it up, and find a cute spot on campus to eat! This place always has a long line, whether its a weekday or a weekend, so be prepared to wait if you want to dine in. However, we got takeout, and it was still so delicious, and I can see why Noodle Dynasty is so popular! I got the Beef Brisket Noodle Soup (Spicy, Thin Noodle), and it was amazing. Do not be intimidated by the deep, red color, as it has a very fragrant, mild spice, and is actually a lot less spicy than it looks. The noodles are well-cooked and soft, soaking up the savory, flavorful broth perfectly. The beef brisket is tender and fragrant, and you get a huge portion of it! Considering the price of the bowl, definitely a steal. If you are in Berkeley, I 100% recommend giving Noodle Dynasty a try. The line speaks for itself! read more

Noodle DyWhen I first arrived in Berkeley earlier in the afternoon, I passed Noodle Dynasty on my way to the hotel. There was a line outside, which caught my attention, but I had work to do and kept moving. A few hours later, when it was time for dinner, I walked the neighborhood to get a feel for the area and noticed there was still a line. I kept going, wanting to see what else was around. When I eventually headed back toward my hotel to decide where to eat, the line was still there. At that point, curiosity won out. I asked a few people what the wait was for, and they told me it was the best noodles in town. I was skeptical, but I decided to see for myself. I waited about 35 minutes. While in line, I overheard people talking about ordering to-go versus eating inside and how the portion sizes were different. I didn't want to take any chances, so I chose to dine in. The restaurant was packed but impressively efficient. As a solo diner, they sat me at a four-top with people I didn't know. The server didn't really frame it as a question, he just let me know someone would be joining. That pushed me out of my comfort zone, but being in a new city, I stayed open to the experience. I ordered the House Special Beef Rib bone-in noodle soup along with an order of dumplings. The dumplings were well-seared, hot, and satisfying, a solid way to start the meal. The noodle bowl was the anchor. The noodles were tender but still had a bite, exactly how I like them. The broth was rich and deeply flavorful, and the beef rib was something you take your time with. On its own, the bowl was excellent. Once I added the chili oil and spices the table recommended, it became something else entirely. Both versions were equally enjoyable, just different moods of the same dish. What surprised me most was the experience around the food. A brief, polite conversation with a Berkeley undergrad across the table. Shared reactions to the bowl. A late dinner that felt communal without trying to be. It wasn't something I would have asked for, but it ended up being part of what made the night memorable. This was a late dinner, close to closing, and it still delivered. Worth the wait. Worth stepping outside your comfort zone. And absolutely a place I'll come back to the next time I'm in Berkeley. read more
Highly recommended for a winter lunch! I ordered the beef noodle soup with clear broth. The soup was tasty and light. The meat and daikon portions were reasonable but my priority was focused on the hot broth. The ambiance is very lively but everyone is focused on enjoying a soup of hot broth. Service was prompt, as you order from a tablet. The only downside is my mom ordered a seafood noodle soup which took some time but the quality was just as good! read more

This place always has a line. We must've come a little earlier for lunch and missed it. You order from an iPad and then we received our food super quick. We had cucumber salad, fish and cabbage noodle soup and beef noodle soup. All tasted good. Small place but just enough seats for a good crowd. read more
I luckily got in line when it was short and didn't wait too long to be seated. I highly recommend the BEEF BRISKET SOUP and the SOUR CABBAGE FISH SOUP. Both were delicious with the hand pulled thin noodles. Decent prices and quick in and out service. I will definitely be back! read more
I waited in line for about fifteen minutes with two others. We got in and the place is pretty small so if there's a line out the door, be prepared to wait a bit. This place is popular and I was so excited to try the beef noodle soup. Unfortunately, it was a bit underwhelming for me. The soup was very greasy from the beef and chili oil. The beef was a bit cold. The soup was salty. I asked for lemon slices and the waiter said they didn't have any lemons even though the pitcher of water they poured from included lemon. We also had the pork and shrimp wontons in chili oil, which was a good amount and filled with a good portion of meat. Service was pretty quick though - you order and pay through an iPad. read more
