This place went from being one of my favorite "hidden gem" places to a place I will avoid at all costs now. I have gotten food tinged with weird flavors... dry noodles... poor quality overall. I ordered the local's special pictured in my review which was absolutely delicious! It has a combination of beef, shrimp, and a mix of many other delicacies. I was super content with this meal and our spring rolls that we ordered was good too. My friend liked her Pho as well. The woman working the front was extremely nice and I'm glad she took care of us. Although, we did have to go up to the front to ask for water because I got extremely thirsty (all of the sriracha). They have a huge TV for guests (it was showing the Giants game) which was nice. One thing I didn't like was that for all credit cards, it's almost $3 extra which seems very steep. We had no cash whatsoever, so we were forced to pay it. The total was almost $40 for our two meals, a small appetizer, and 2 waters which is probably the most I've ever spent on this type of food. I regret this decision because they use styrofoam containers as their to go packaging. Not a fan. Had I known I would have picked up take out somewhere else. But onto food - I had the pad kee mow. I haven't had many pad kee maos, so I'm not sure if this stands up to what it's 'supposed' to be like, but it was an ok dish. It's made with thick rice noodles, beef, bean sprouts, basil, and red and green peppers. It was a little sweet and a little sour, too. Place was clean, food came out quick, and service was attentive and quick on the water refills. Met up here to catch up with an old friend, and we ended up talking for over an hour. Not once did the staff rush us or make us feel unwelcomed, the time just flew by. We didn't realize it till after, but long after we had ordered we were still getting water refills and cared for. I was impressed and deeply appreciative in how accommodating and considerate the place was in letting us carry on in catching up and still caring for our table. I've been places where I've started getting rushed out before I was half way through a plate, but not here! Thank you for letting two friends enjoy their time catching up, it meant a lot once we realized it. I've been coming here on and off for 2 years after getting a heavy yellow curry craving in pregnancy. More often than not the food is delicious and the boy who used to run the counter was amazingly kind. However, lately it's a hit and miss on the food quality and today I found METAL scraps in my food-- likely from a old grill brush. When I called to alert them the girl on the phone didn't sound too surprised and didn't even offer to replace my food. For 70$, I expect better. My health is not worth decent food. There are other places you can eat without risking your health. I'm sorry too, because I really used to love this place, but that's just dangerous and the lack of caring when alerted is terrifying. UPDATE: Received a call today from the owner and she was very apologetic about the entire situation, which was very nice. She offered to have me come in and get a new plate which is nice too, since I threw out the other. I hope they're more careful in the future. In these situations there's no going back, only forward, so I hope they're very diligent in these regards from here out. Imagine if someone had eaten this! Overall, definitely still not a great situation, but the owner did her best to remedy the aftermath. read more

Decent. No wow factor for what I had. The service is attentive, water refills were plenty. Food wasn't all it was cracked up to be in some parts, but at least some the flavors were good. There's a TV so you can can catch a game or a show if you like. I had ordered the green curry with fried tofu and the vegetarian spring rolls. For the spring rolls I liked the peanut sauce, but the rolls were tiny. Like egg roll tiny with thin slices of fried tofu. The green curry had a good flavor overall but was salty. I liked the amount of the curry, and the consistency of it. It also came out piping hot which was awesome. Some of the veggies felt like there wasn't much there. I liked the consistency of the veggies since they weren't cooked to mush but was left wanting when trying to pick through for bites. Just felt imbalanced with a good amount of curry and not enough of the vegetables for texture. Wasn't enough food for me at the end of the day. Price to satisfaction wasn't high for me though with some changes I'm sure things could've been fine. Perhaps if I have a hankering for it I'll mozy on back but trying other places would be the first priority. read more

Just passing through, coming from So California, and was thrilled that we found this little gem. It's in an older neighborhood but the cleanliness of the restaurant was very good. Considering all the reviews I have read and my first time experience, I am not very impressed. Server nice but the woman behind the scenes seemed to be barking and maybe demeaning her staff. Not cool. As for the food. All the great reviews and photos do not do anything to excuse the soup I had for a salad. They did not have the Beec salad I ordered, so I ordered shrimp instead. The 3 shrimp were sliced so thin you could see through them. Not to mention the salad dressing filled my plate under the one large lettuce leaf, and the amount of salad was poor for the price. The spring rolls (barely any fulling or herbs)were awful, peanut sauce super thin and runny. And the eggs rolls greasy. Taste? MEH? I will try again. Another dish. Like actual soup. This is my kind of restaurant, the hidden gem. It seems like a place that you may not think to give a second glance, but the food is delicious! My boyfriend and I were in town for a wedding and were staying with family who decided to take us here for dinner. Given that this was my first visit to this place I decided to play it safe and go with their spicy beef and peanut sauce. On the first bite I had made a comment that I felt that it could use some more heat, to which the server was more than happy to assist with as he brought over the chili paste. After that I had no complaints other than my stomach not being big enough to eat everything. Just tried this place today, on a whim, because there was an accident on the road I was traveling, and thus was forced by the towing company and SRPD working the scene to take the road less traveled, which led me here. Exterior looks like they're expecting angry Pho eaters to break in and steal all their Basil, and that made me hesitant to try it. Inside was not much better, tables were dirty, I was all but ignored and sat myself. After much ado trying to get service, I ordered the standard chicken rice noodle pho and a rainbow drink. I do have to say, the service was fast, but that could be because I was literally the only person in the place besides the employees. The soup was nothing to write home about, the rainbow drink was too sweet, and too syrupy. The basil was wilted, the limes were old and had little juice. The only good thing was the prices were reasonable, and there was ample parking. Probably not coming back, although I noted they had curry and other noodle items that piqued my interest. read more

Egg rolls - slightly brunt wrapping with a very mushy vegetable filling. Pad thai - ordered medium spicy, came out intolerably spicy. Couldn't eat it. Also, dry as if it was sitting under a heat lamp then reheated to fulfill our medium spicy request. Red curry - taste was ok, however sauce is very watered down. Also, eggplant and peas included which was not listed on the menu. I don't like eggplant. Lastly, and this is my biggest pet peeve when dining out, there was a (grey) hair in it. Nice, friendly, welcoming folks own & operate. Place is a dive outside & inside. Not filthy but old tired & funky. If your mom is fastidious she wouldn't be comfortable here. Food is peasant level in flavor and prep. Nothing fancy. I enjoyed the B22 combo noodle bowl. Plenty generous for $12. Compared to other Santa Rosa Vietnamese eateries like Kettle's, Simply Vietnam this Noodle Palace is not as refined in ambience nor food delicacy and subtlety. This is my new favorite restaurant in Sonoma county. Delicious food, perfectly seasoned and prepared with care. The spicy beef noodle soup had a broth that poets would falter to describe but rich, complex and balanced are all apt words to start with. I can't describe it though, it was too good. Go and taste for yourself. Pleasant, no fuss, eclectic environment with friendly service too. Love the mural! Since moving here I've been bemoaning the dearth of good restaurants. Hands down the best thing we had to eat the weekend we were in Santa Rosa. We were a little concerned by the outside of this restaurant, but when we went inside, it was clean, although sparse. The waiter, who looked like he did everything for the front of the house, was really cool and laid back. Then the food came, and we were blown away. We ordered the shrimp and bbq pork spring rolls, the pad thai, the green curry and the halo halo dessert. Starting with the spring rolls, I think all vietnamese joints should put bbq pork in the spring rolls instead of just the usual plain pork. It really added a punch of flavor that we usually don't get. Then the pad thai.... amazingly moist. Pad thai is frequently dry when you get it, but this one was still saucy and perfect. The green curry was awesome, not too spicy and just really tasty. We got the halo halo to go, and even though it didn't have ube ice cream like we're used to, it was a perfect walking dessert. Okay. Pad Thai is usually impossible to mess up. It is the chicken strips of a Thai menu. This was bland, noodles were gummy and barely any bean sprouts or peanuts to dress it up. Pho. I think their biggest downfall here was the broth being way too sweet. It had good flavor, doused with sugar. Bummer, because the noodles were perfect, not half cooked like most places. The meat balls were a bit sweet which didn't help. The brisket was pretty good, not like expensive restaurant good but, pretty good. For some reason the slices of jalapeños wan't too hot, I don't know but it usually gives me a bit of a jolt. If they could put a little spice into the soup while cooking, make it a little Sweet & Spicy, that would have been perfect. Good read more

How fortunate were we to come across this little hidden gem amidst a residential neighborhood. First off, big kudos to us lucky customers that these wonderful owners were open on their Khmer New Year! Thank you for blessing us with such yummy goodness! We ordered the Pad Kee Mao which is known to be a drunken chow fun dish with a slightly spicy vinegar dressing. The noodles were perfectly cooked and slathered throughout and the beef and veggies were tasty and fresh. The Bun Bo Hue Vietnamese Spicy Beef Soup was the perfect cure for a cold wet night. If spicy is what you're after, you will not go wrong with this choice. The broth was infused with so many herbs and spices and I could not get enough. I'm on a short get away with a friend but my leftover broth came home with me so I can let the family try this soupy goodness. Now let's talk about the service...WOW. Ordered Spicy Beef With Peanut Sauce. On the plus side, the peanut sauce was good, there was plenty of broccoli and it was spicy. On the negative side, there was VERY little beef, and what beef there was was fatty & chewy - some bits were inedible. I would not recommend this restaurant, and I will not order from this establishment again. Trying to save money by giving your customers low quality ingredients in their food does not save you any money - it ends up costing you money because we won't come back. read more

Wow. This place is terrible. I made a simple order over the phone and then they repeated back my order wrong. I corrected the lady 4 times and then when I arrived she still got it wrong. I ordered vegetarian noodles and she made me a noodle soup. Then, she put in my order wrong again. I wanted stir fry noodles and she made me cold noodles. Finally I said forget it and said no noodles. But I still wanted my fried spring rolls. I got to leave and check my box of food to discover that they made me fresh spring rolls instead (not fried and not cooked). So then I again had to wait for them to make the right thing again. Complete idiots. I can't even count the rounds of mistakes that they made and for a simple order! I will not be back. Oh and one more thing. After their parade of errors and all of my time wasted, they didnt offer anything for my troubles. They could have sent me away with one of their mistake orders since the lady claims the food would be wasted due to her countless mistakes. So then give it to me! Fortunately, I wouldn't have wanted the extra food anyway. The one thing I left with, vegetarian fried spring rolls, were absolutely disgusting. How do you mess up a fried spring roll? Well they did. I enjoy the noodle palace. But noticed I haven't been coming here as much as I once used to. This little place looks funky with the bars on the window on the outside.... but holds pretty decent food inside. Noodle palace has, well.....ummmm, noodle of course. But they also offer rice plates as well. They have your crunch fix covered with with crispy egg rolls or if you are looking for a softer touch try the spring rolls. They are very generous with the peanut sauce as well. There are tons of things to try on the menu. All seems reasonably affordable, especially if your feeding a large family. The food comes out reasonably quickly. No waiting around here. If so call it in, it's 10 -15 mins tops. I usually get it to go because I prefer the atmosphere of my own home. We had a vegan and gluten free member in our party and they worked through the nearly the entire menu to say how they could custom prepare the dishes to our liking.
