So disappointed with this company. No problem with the men who took my son's belongings. The problem was the delivery. What company gives a Window of over 2 weeks to have the stuff delivered. My son went to Washington state waiting & till now no delivery. He had to spend alot of money for airbed/other necessities because his stuff were still not delivered. Ridiculous!!! We used Nor-Cal moving for an in-city move in San Francisco, and they were lifesavers during a tough situation. I lived in a building that was flooded and shut down, such that the building wouldn't let us back in to pack. Nor-Cal was hired to do everyone's packing, so I figured I'd save myself some hassle and just use them to move me across town too. They: - called me back within an hour of the first time I emailed - were easy to reach by email or text leading up to the day of the move - followed the packing instructions I gave them - were on time the day of the move and moved me quickly and efficiently - were friendly, professional, helpful, and respectful of my floors/walls as they moved - were reasonably priced (I don't know if my building negotiated a deal with them because they were doing so much work in one building) Considering the situation, it was a minor miracle that everything arrived intact and without my lifting a finger. We had nothing but an excellent experience with Nor-Cal for our cross-country move from California to New York. First, their agent, Paul Swain, went far and above the call of duty in helping us with the move, even assisting with our donating some belongings to local charities -- and taking others unworthy of such treatment to the dump. He was always available to answer questions and came by when the movers were packing and loading to make sure everything went smoothly. He even helped us donate furniture left behind for staging that our realtor ultimately decided not to use -- this after we were long gone! The packers exceeded expectations -- fewer than a half dozen items suffered any damage (and we had hundreds of very delicate pieces!). Dave the driver kept us fully informed of where he was en route, and his loading and unloading crews were fast, careful, and easy to get along with -- despite having to work in the rain on one end and the snow in the other. This is from several years ago, but I thought I'd post this for the safety of other users. My move was fairly simple 1BR move, with a short drive (5 minutes). The new apartment was on the second floor, but with no elevator. I've got 2 folks for the move. One person was super helpful, but the other person (believe his name was Mike) was completely unqualified to work as a mover. He kept complaining the whole time, and tried to limit the amount of work he has to do in every occasion possible. 1. He told me his drivers license was on suspension, therefore he couldn't even move the truck in case there were other cars trying to come in to the parking lot. 2. I had a fairly heavy wine fridge (300 lbs), which was included in the estimate. Mike started complaining that it's too heavy AFTER the truck got to the new apartment, and suggested I sell it. I insisted on moving it, and next he called his manager to complain he still has to move the "super heavy bed and couch" trying to avoid carrying the fridge up the stairs. I still wonder what he was thinking. I can't just sell a wine fridge on the spot in my apartment parking lot. 3. I had an IKEA bookshelf, which was light and wobbly. Mike suggested I should throw them away, because they won't hold up too long. Again, this happened after the truck got to the new apartment, before he had to carry them upstairs. 4. He kept taking breaks, took full liberty of my bathroom, asked for water multiple times, which are all ok individually. But on aggregate, he came across lazy and trying to avoid work, as if he deserved for me to service him. He also accidentally locked the bathroom door from inside. He said he'll fix it before he leaves, which he never did. 5. LAST BUT NOT LEAST. He kept commenting on the shoes that I have. After the move, I noticed two of the shoes were missing. I reported this but the staff took no action. read more

The Palo Alto office of SPB (law firm) moved this past weekend. Freddy and the crew were outstanding! This past Friday we moved in the evening and then again on Saturday, but that day rain was expected. They agreed to work a little later on Friday to hopefully get most items to the new location before much rain happened. What a great crew, friendly, very helpful, they went out of their way to help a couple individuals who were taking some of the furniture for use at home. Used Allied (via NorCal moving) for a family move from SF Peninsula to Tampa. All was going well with moving our stuff out from SF into storage until we triggered the move to FL. Upon arranging final move to FL (after having paid $30k for the whole move), everything changed. Unresponsive tel service, disgruntled movers, extensively damaged items "shoved" into storage container in FL....we are still recovering bits from storage and finding damage to high end furniture, evidence of reckless handling etc. Delivery driver to FL kept on telling my wife how depressed he was whilst his crew were all infighting. Avoid like the plague. $30k down the drain. read more

This company is ripe with corruption with a leader that has horrible business practices. The equipment isn't reliable, they require upfront payment, and will break a binding contract with little to no notice. The president also harrasses customers via email and threatens legal remedies without merit. These guys have their act together. The entire process was smooth, efficient, and easy. Phil and his team provided excellent communication throughout the entire process (the truck driver even gave me his cell number for transport updates). The moving crew showed up exactly on time at both the move out and move in locations. They loaded our entire 3 story, 5 bedroom house in less than 2 hours without any damage whatsoever to our house. Only two days later, the truck arrived at our new house, 500 miles away and the crew respectfully unloaded everything, again without any damage to the house. Not one item was damaged in the entire process and everything showed up and was accounted for. This was the best moving experience my family has ever had. We were supposed to receive our household possessions 10 days ago, on the outside of the original window. We have not been given any updates in the past week. When they were in touch with us, they gave us different and contradictory information about where our possessions are..that they were having issues with scheduling the ferry, but then, a few days later, it appeared that the shipment had not left California. We hired them, even though they were not inexpensive, for their experience and claimed knowledge of local ferry system. We also hired to help with packing..they ran out of boxes, and did not pack everything we wanted them to. They claim to provide a stress free move. This experience has been anything but. read more

We moved from California to New York and used Nor-Cal to transport our household goods. David Morgan and his crew were highly efficient. Our whole one-bedroom apartment stuff was loaded in the truck in just 2 hours! After that, they took just ten days to cross the country, which was fast considering that they were also doing other clients simultaneously. They have a giant truck, haha! Not only that, but David kept me updated about his location as he traveled. When they reached the final destination, they also unloaded everything quickly and even assembled all furniture back. Stay away from the Hayward, CA location as they don't know what they're doing. I called to have a relocation consultant come to our home for moving estimate. I received an email confirming the date and time of the appointment along with the name of the consultant in the subject of the email. I verified receipt of the email confirming the appointment time. The day of the appointment the consultant, Phil White, didn't show, call, text or email to state they weren't coming. I left 2 voicemails (1 directly to the Phil's cell phone) with no response. Hours later Phil finally responded to the confirmation email stating there was a miscommunication regarding the appointment and did I want to reschedule. What miscommunication? There was no miscommunication, all all the appointment information was contained within that confirmation email. He messed up and isn't taking ownership. They can't show up for an appointment but want me to hire them? If they can't make an appointment, then how are they going handle a cross country move? read more

This is a review for the quote and booking process only, for an interstate move across the country (coast to coast). I worked with Phil B with Nor-Cal as the chosen agent for Allied in the Bay Area. We set up a virtual quote appointment via Zoom and together, we walked through each of the rooms to be moved so Phil could take inventory. His turnaround on the quote was fast, the quote was detailed and broke down the services quoted clearly. He also gave helpful advice on options around storage (local vs. at our destination) and packing (by ourselves or by the company, with tradeoffs around cost and damage risk). We did not go ahead with the move for reasons other than Nor-Cal or Phil. We did interact with many other national and local carriers and found this experience to be the smoothest and clearest. A lot of movers are very wishy-washy on their quotes or calls, but Phil was clear and deliberate. read more

Sorry for the long review. We packed many boxes and the movers packed the remaining items for our move from California to Virginia. We were not moving everything. I didn't notice at the time, but some of the items we said should go with us did not go. I'm not too upset and angry about that. What I am upset about is that someone apparently stole an expensive item while packing. I had left my pearl necklace in the bureau with a t-shirt to take on the road with us. The bureau was empty otherwise and I was in a nearby room while they packed. I forgot about the items that morning and when we arrived at the new house, I found the boxes for the necklace along with the shirt in a box they packed. The necklace was a Mikimoto, a wedding gift bought in Japan. I wore it on special occasions as it was expensive and sentimental. (I have mostly craft and yard sale jewelry.) The necklace box was velvet covered and satin inside. That box was inside a blue box with the brand name on it. It seems to be an obvious theft. I filed a claim and I could hire someone for arbitration per their contract. This is defined as grand theft in California, so we reported it to the sheriff's office. They told me that movers often hire criminals (I don't know if this happened with this team) and it's easy for them to pocket expensive items like this. The people who came to pack seemed to be sub-contractors, and I am not sure how they found these workers and paid them. This is a warning to you about packing your items, checking for valuables before letting anyone in your house, walking through your house if you're not taking everything, checking the moving van at the end of their day of unpacking, noting when signing any papers that you have not been able to view all expected items. Given our experience, although the office agent who estimated and guided the process was good, I cannot possibly recommend the company. ADDENDUM: there is no way to respond to a comment from the mover other than to add to this note. The Claims Analyst's response read in part: "The adjuster did contact Nor-Cal Moving Services during her handling of the claim and they responded that the driver nor his crew were aware of any jewelry and had no information to provide." If someone found a box in an otherwise empty dresser, the honest thing to do would be to ask me - and I was in the next room - if I meant to leave that to be packed. It's not realistic to think asking anyone did you see this or did you take that would result in an accurate response. A decent investigation would include examining records of local complaints of missing items and then seeing who was on the team, were there 1-2 people on the same teams where items were missing but that wasn't done. read more

Roberto showed up 40 minutes late for my appointment. Despite me giving Allied my moving date prior to the appointment, I was told that they were already booked for that week and the week before. When I told him that I couldn't use them, he got an attitude. I asked him if he could possibly look at my apartment to give me a rough idea of how many pounds I had and his response was,"Why would I waste my time with you if you aren't going to use me?" I told him that he had wasted 40 minutes of my time and he would be doing me a solid to just take a quick look. His response again, "Why would I waste my time with you?" My move coordinator contacted me very quickly to set up scheduling. She was terrific, and very thorough. The crew called me one half hour before arriving. The moving team was respectful of my property, trees, driveway, and even covered the garage surfaces. The team leader introduced himself, as well as his helper. Both were pleasant and let me know they were there to help me in any way they could. The move was done on time and on estimate. All areas were left clean and without any damage. I've used Nor-Cal about six times over the past 20 years for interstate moves. This time was another cross-country move. My original visit was supposed to be in person, but was switched to video. I wasn't thrilled because I had a complicated two stop delivery scenario that was giving me heartburn. Thank you COVID. However, I shouldn't have worried. Video visit went well. Price was competitive. But that isn't nearly as important as THE MOVE. Day 1: packing. I had spent weeks packing my books (I have a lot of books). They packed the rest of the place in 3 hours (4 level townhouse, 3b, 2.5 ba) . Apologies that I don't recall the name of the crew. But they were great! Day 2: pick-up. Lucky me, I lived in a place where the truck couldn't do the pick-up. No problem. Our driver (Lucien) showed up with his team and got the truck pack lickety split. We went over the two drop off issue with him and asked for an estimate of timing. Which drop off were we? When did he think he'd arrive (ballpark was fine). We were the final stop, 4 and 5, with an estimated delivery of April 25. With the weather and everything, I figured delivery would probably be later, maybe April 27 (which was fine). How wrong. Sunday I received a text from Lucien. We'll be there tomorrow morning for delivery. And there he was with his east coast team. A few things were packed wrong in the truck (for the wrong drop off location), but he (and the team) were great about doubling back 5 miles to drop the stuff off at the first location and getting it set-up. Although I hope not to have another big move anytime soon, I can't say enough great things about Nor-Cal and Allied. I find some of the reviews hard to believe based on my consistent experience with them over the years. read more

Terrible customer service! I contracted with Nor-Cal for two moves, one within California and one cross-country. The in-state move was fine. But I received appalling customer service on the cross-country move. The contract I signed specified a delivery window of three days. As the promised time of delivery drew close, I made numerous inquiries about when the delivery might be expected. This was essential, because the destination is a condo in a large building that requires advance notice of move-ins. Not one of those inquiries was answered. The promised delivery window came and went with still no answer as to the status of the shipment. Finally - with only a half-day notice - the goods were delivered, more than a week after the window promised in the contract. The delay caused me considerable expense, as travel and temporary living accommodations had to be changed. Not to mention the anxiety of having no clue as to the whereabouts of thousands of dollars worth of goods. I treat a signed contract seriously. Nor-Cal apparently does not, except for one aspect: they get all of your money up-front. After that, you're on your own. The contracted price was more than double the bids of other moving companies I evaluated. I was told by the sales rep that the higher price was justified because of the outstanding quality of service Nor-Cal and North American Van Lines would provide. Not only was the service not outstanding; as indicated, it was far below standard. Nor-Cal's answer to every problem was: it's somebody else's fault. read more

Highly recommend this company. Totally professional and friendly from the first call to the final moved box. Phil came to my apartment, met with me and promptly gave me a fair quote for my move. The quote included stopping at a storage facility to pick up furniture, going to my apartment for a second pickup of all my things, and finally delivering everything to my new place. Two days before the move NOR-CAL dropped off their moving materials and boxes. The afternoon before the move they went to the storage facility and picked up many heavy furniture items. By doing this first pickup the day before the move they maximized their time for the moving day. On moving day I received a call saying they were on their way and they arrived a little earlier than planned. Elgin and his three person crew could not have been any better. All four were friendly and worked hard to empty my apartment in about two hours. (Two flights of SF stairs). Elgin was a great team leader and could not have been any nicer. I appreciated the work ethic of Elgin and his team. Totally trustworthy!! They proceeded to my new condo and had everything properly moved and placed within a few hours. Not a scratch on anything and not a glass broken. Once finished they asked if there was anything else they could do and they then moved a few pieces of furniture around at my direction, took empty boxes with them and recycled other packaging materials. They also laid down paper for them to walk on so no dirt would be brought into the new place. Extremely thoughtful! Highly recommend this company! From initially meeting with Phil to the work of Elgin and crew, this could not have gone any better. Had a problem with the payment since I changed addresses and my credit card was not initially accepted. Gwendolyn from Norcal contacted me, told me this was not unusual based on a move and two addresses and patiently waited an hour or so while I cleared the problem with the credit card company. I had worked with NorCal in the past and this was the reason i choose them for my move this time as well. The move went thru' fine, the workers who dropped by were good folks how ever, the administration dept that manages the finances are terrible to work with. They did some accounting glitch and charged me 150% higher than the original fixed bid quote on my credit card... Just by pure luck, i happened to see this on my credit card bill and tried following up multiple times asking them to correct this mistake and return the extra money they had charged me. It took them a good 3 weeks to acknowledge this problem and since then it has already been 3 more weeks and i am still waiting for getting my money back. This is a classic example of how the ground level workers are good at what they do and the rest of the operations and admin folks mess up all the good work done by rest of the folks! I am done with Norcal and never intend to make use of them for any of my move going forward. There needs to be some basic integrity with the work and the commitment shown by these folks if they need to earn a good reputation for the work they commit to. read more

Was looking to move from the East Bay to the DC area and wanted to use Allied. Tried to get in contact with this office and was told multiple times to leave a message for Cher and she'd get back to me to give me an estimate. No returned call after THREE voice mails so I called until she actually answered. She wouldn't give me an estimate...not even a ballpark. Instead she said someone would call me to schedule a day to come out and look at my stuff. Um, will they actually call back because I was told you would and you didn't. No response. A week and a half later I get a phone call from someone asking when he can come out for an estimate. She had just given him the message *that* day. Too bad a week before I had decided to use the Allied affiliate out of Vallejo (Broadway Moving & Storage...I reviewed them if you want more details). Moral of the story: if you're doing a long distance move through Allied (they did a good job), go out of the Vallejo office. read more

I worked with Phil Barry (a sales manager) who visited my original home to provide an expert quote and advise on how to prep. Phil's help was crucial, and I recommend you ask for him when calling Nor Cal. The crew came and busted their humps, safely packing or wrapping my stuff. Phil's quote (of time and cost) was accurate. My experience seems in line with a lot of the other posts...especially those who moved out of the bay area. My items were damaged, arrived late, and the support team (all the way up to VP) became non-responsive during the delay (and to this day). This company might be good for local moves but they're just an agent (and an awful one) for Allied. For long-distance movers, my suggestion is to pick another company altogether. This agent will gladly take your money and then happily not respond to any concerns. -If you're moving an apartment or small house, then Allied doesn't really guarantee a delivery time even though a delivery window is quoted and provided by Nor-Cal. Our items never left California until they last day of the delivery window. Yes, the last day of the quoted delivery period.....deliver on the other side of the country. On top of this, every contact person at Nor-Cal (even the VP) was silent on return calls/emails. This left us feeling that the marketing messages about Nor-Cal's great service were just useless marketing words. After repeated attempts to get an answer, it was only then that Allied said that a delivery window guarantee doesn't matter (even if quoted) if the total weight is less than 2,500 pounds. Really??? Then why not say that up front? -Even though movers will wrap your furniture on moving day (making you feel that your items will be handled with care), the items actually get unwrapped when waiting in the warehouse to be loaded onto an Allied truck. Given that the delivery window was inaccurate, our items sat unprotected in a warehouse for almost three weeks. No surprise, then, to find that some of our furniture was damaged. An attempted repair was made to one of the items by Nor-Call/Allied before delivery, so check all your items thoroughly when they arrive (especially the items you thought were wrapped the entire time). It turns out that the moving insurance offered has a high deductible so that just feels like one more rip-off item. -The company provides a nice service with the salesperson doing an estimate at the beginning of the process, but once the contract was signed, they wanted all interaction to be done by email. Phone calls weren't returned, and even emails weren't returned. Consider it a lesson learned when a company only wants to provide contact via email. Very unprofessional and unresponsive. If any response came, it was only to pass the responsibility to someone else. In the end, we did all the packing so we feel it would have been must less stressful to hire local teams to load/unload a moving truck and do the driving ourselves. read more

I used Nor-Cal Moving, an agent for Allied Van Lines, for two moves during January, 2009. We moved some things from a 5300 sf multi-level house (lots of stairs) in the hills above Cupertino to a 3rd floor walk-up apt in Santa Clara on a Tuesday, and then moved everything else (about 20,000 pounds) out of state on a Friday. The first thing to know is there is a ton of fraud in the moving business. You contract with company A, who sells the job to company B, who in turn has a contractor who goes to Home Depot to pick up some day laborers and hands them some T-Shirts that say "Company A" and tells them (in Spanish) "here, put these on". They show up at your house & literally you don't know who you are doing business with as they all lie. So, you HAVE to be very careful. Go to the BBB website. Go to the US Federal DOT website. Check to see what kind of complaints they have. The sales people will lie. Having said that, we went with Nor-Cal because they do all our corporate (fortune 500) relocations, and our company's relo department monitors these things very carefully. The movers do not want to lose an account at a F-500 company, so they do their best to behave. When you move across state lines, the "Allied Van Lines" takes over and everything is done under their rules. I could be mistaken, but when you do a local move, it is really under the local agent's rules. Just as when you buy a new Toyota, you don't actually buy it from Toyota; you buy it from Stevens Creek Toyota (or whatever) who has a contract with Toyota Motor Company. Similarly, when you hire Allied Van Lines, or North American, or Mayflower, Bekins, United, Stevens or whomever, you are NOT doing business with them - you are doing business with their local "agent" (sort of like doing business with Stevens Creek Toyota). But it gets more complicated. Most local agents, Nor-Cal included, sub-contract work to "owner-operators" who show up with trucks and workers. So there is a fair bit of trust you have to have in the process. Nor-Cal did everything as promised. Their binding not-to-exceed price was good, and they came in on-budget. The main move (20,000 pounds) the mover showed up with 11 guys to do the move (we had packed most everything ourselves). They worked hard, were professional, everyone spoke English, and I would use them again in a heart beat. Definitely do your homework. Reviews that are 2 years old are probably not as useful as current ones. As near as I can tell, moving companies can change their affiliations from, say, Bekins to Mayflower, for example. You don't know who you are doing business with. Check references. Check the web. etc. read more

Last year when I decided to move to SF, everyone said I was crazy. Crazy is right. I did not prepare the right way and ended up doing it po-man's way and got a UHaul truck, trekked everything down from Seattle and added one more notch to my list of things I've done but am not sure are legal and Stalked Home Depot like a man picking up a hooker on a lonely highway and hired a couple of laborers. Flash forward a year and I'm back to moving again, I'd like to think that I learned from previous experiences so I was smart enough to hire up some movers. Sorry Home Depot, I just couldn't stomach the idea of 15 men jumping in a 4 seater again. Not that there's anything wrong with that but, with little ole me, there's a whole lot wrong so I say nay and cough up the dough. I researched like crazy because who knows who is reputable and whether or not once you sign off and see your furniture off if you'll ever see it again. Plus with all of the moving quotes online, you're bound to get the short end of the stick when it comes to big funds so I stuck it safe with an Allied provider. I talked to Phil and he came to my apartment and did a walk through, estimating the cost and how many boxes were going to be going out. I had other estimates as well but Allied's was the best so I braved it and signed the papers. To give a little taste of what they offer, my furniture and boxes were picked up on 09/02 and delivered at my new home 09/14. There was a slight 1 day delay but that's no sweat. Everything came back to me in tact and so I can actually sleep tonight and feel okay about the whole process. It is quite expensive to hire movers but in the end, I made this move without a partner in crime and could you honestly see the likes of my getting in and out of a big truck with a couch on my back? I didn't think so either. The drivers were funny and enjoyable while they were packing everything off. They had a pretty solid system including ticketing every single item and having you sign off. I had already made my own list of everything because I'm a big scaredy cat and read all of these horror stories of lost items and would have jumped over a lined fence if anything got lost so I was left reassured. I just moved from California to Texas, and this was my moving service. I was led to believe that my stuff would be delivered July 1st, so my boyfriend and I moved into our new apartment in a new state on the 1st. That was when we found out that our stuff wouldn't be delivered until the 15th, which meant we were faced with two weeks of living in a completely alien place with none of our furniture, clothes, or cookware. I am tempted to think I was deliberately misled, but it was probably an honest miscommunication. I called Nor-Cal to see if there was anything they could do to expedite the process by even a few days. I left a voicemail and an email with the woman who'd given me the moving quote, but she didn't contact me back. I began calling every day, eventually leaving messages with seven people, including the president of the company. Only one person called me back, and that was only to give me someone else's number. No one would give me any information about anything. Meanwhile, we had to spend money on a mattress to sleep on (though we already had a mattress on the moving truck), clothes for job interviews (though we already had business clothes on the moving truck), and basic cookware so that we wouldn't have to waste money eating out every night (though we already had cookware on the moving truck). Basically, I paid Nor-Cal $3100 for the privilege of spending more money to replace the things they were holding hostage. The delivery was actually made on the 16th rather than the 15th. One of the legs is broken off of a chair, but they claim they'll fix that at no cost to me. If they don't, this review is dropping down to one star. At least the folks who actually did the heavy lifting were extremely friendly and helpful. read more

I contacted Nor-Cal last week to schedule a walk through of the space my company is moving out of to obtain a quote for packing/moving services, a woman named Abbey was kind enough to take down all of my information and advised that one of their project managers would be calling me to schedule a meeting. Sean Proctor promptly called me back and we started tossing dates/times we could make work for the walk through. He was a bit abrasive during this conversation but I brushed it off as him being busy and heck, aren't all salesmen a bit abrasive. We set the appointment for yesterday (1/8/15) and that was the end of our first phone call. Our second phone call happened when Sean showed up for our appointment and I was not there. I had been working at our new location in preparation for our move and my meetings ran late and I forgot to call Sean. This is totally my mistake and my fault, I apologized profusely and we made arrangements for him to come back Monday 1/12. Our 3rd and final phone call happened today when I called Sean to cancel our new appointment we had made less than 24 hours ago. I told him that the decision makers in my office had moved quickly and decided to go with a different company, I also thanked him for his attention to our project and again apologized for the inconvenience I had caused him yesterday. Apparently me canceling was enough to make Sean lose his mind. Sean decided to unload his frustration on me by telling me that I was a joke because I had such a 'strict window of availability' when scheduling our first appointment (I have stuff to do during the day, my schedule is not wide open, sorry) and that I had some nerve canceling after he was *polite* enough to reschedule (things outside of my control got in the way yesterday, my bad) and when I asked him if that was really the type of customer service he wanted to give in our phone call his response was that I wasn't a customer and he didn't need to be polite. I was convinced that not everyone at this company could be as unprofessional as Sean and gave Abbey a call to relay this experience. Abbey remembered me when I called and I thanked her for giving great customer service in our initial call and regretted having to tell her that we'd be going with another company because of the experience I had with Sean. She abruptly cut me off and said "Well then it's best you use another company." to which I responded "We definitely are using another company but I wanted to relay our experience with Sean since he is who you send to interact with potential customers."....Abbey hung up on me after saying "You can't please everyone all of the time." Obviously Nor-Cal will not go out of business because two rude employees offended one customer *but* anyone who is concerned with credibility should be concerned by the type of behavior coming from their employees who interact with potential customers. Where there is smoke there is fire and I would bet that I was not the first person Abbey and Sean have offended. We've signed a contract with a fabulous company and feel confident our move will be successful because we decided not to partner with Nor-Cal. I hadn't written a review here before, but my experience with Nor-Cal was so bad that I had to sign up just so I could tell others about it. First of all, they won't give you ANY cost estimate without doing an in-home survey. OK, fine. It took me a week of exchanging emails with them just to schedule said survey. The person I talked to sent me a confirmation email with the date, time and phone number of the person who would come to my house, Dan. The day comes, and nobody came. I call Dan, and he says "I have no idea what you're talking about, you'd have to call the company. Maybe you got your dates mixed up". I explain to him that I didn't, that I received a confirmation email with the date, time and his name. Again, he just says he knows nothing and can't help me (even though he was cc'ed in the confirmation email) . At first I wanted to reschedule; everybody makes mistakes and I really need help with my move. However, it took them forever to answer my emails and voice mails, so I'm using a different service. Stay away from Nor-Cal if you want reliable customer service. read more
