Went here for the first time last year and had 11 pairs of pants tailored. The owner initially quoted a range of about $17-$25 per pair, but ultimately charged us $17 each as a discount. We paid nearly $170 total, which seemed fair, and we were very grateful. This year, we came back with just 2 pairs of pants for simple hemming/tailoring. We weren't expecting another discount, but we did expect a reasonable and honest price. Instead, we were initially quoted $70 for TWO pairs of pants. When my mom asked if a simpler alteration could be done, the price was lowered to around $60. To be clear, we have no issue paying for expertise, measurements, or time. What doesn't make sense is the pricing. The first time I came in with 11 pairs of pants, including some more complicated pieces, the highest price per pair was around $25. This time, I was being quoted roughly $30-$35 per pair for two simple hemming jobs, including one very inexpensive pair of pants that my mom repeatedly pointed out only needed a basic alteration. I've been to several other alteration shops and have never been charged anywhere close to that amount for similar work. My issue isn't that alterations cost money... It's that the pricing felt unreasonable, inconsistent, and far higher than both the shop's previous pricing and what other local businesses charge. What disappointed me most was that I genuinely thought I had found a trustworthy place. The owner was "friendly", we had great conversations, and I was happy to support her business. Unfortunately, after this experience, I left feeling blindsided by the cost. Before coming here, I didn't pay much attention to the negative reviews. After this experience, I understand where they're coming from. If you're considering this shop, I strongly recommend getting your services elsewhere. If I could give this place a zero star I would I went to Nora's and I paid $80 for my dress to be tailored for my sister's wedding two days before the wedding. I go pick up my dress just to see that all they did was cut it and not only that it was not even a straight cut. It looked like my five-year-old cut my dress. I have pictures to prove it. When I questioned why the price increased for the same items I've dropped off before, it turned unpleasant. Not returning.

Went to Nora's to tailor a pair of jeans and was nervous because of the reviews. When I went to pick them up I immediately regretted giving them the benefit of the doubt. The stitching is sloppy and not straight. The measurements were either rushed/ not properly done. Things looked uneven and I was beyond disappointed. I expressed to her that I did not like the work and showed her the fit, she said it was my body that was the issue which was a terrible excuse to defend her poor work. she kept insisting it was my body (not her job) and that there was nothing else she could do about it. I told her that I would take my jeans to a different place and all of a sudden she said that she could fix it, even though she had already said it was my body and nothing could be done. I did not trust that the job would be properly done and I declined. I highly suggest that they perfect their craft before stating that they know how to tailor anything. I told her I had to park far away with my handicap placard while her friend was illegally parked. She didn't care and made me wait as her friend then left the store to move his car after she helped him carry one dress to his car and then leave the handicap spot. I asked her to help me with my order. She said no and made me wait for him to return and pay. Her and her husband didn't care about making me wait. Do not go to this bussines. They do not disclose prices for alterations. They overcharged and if you do not accept their prices they charge you a dollar per minute for the time they talk and for measurement, even if they do not do the job. Had a last minute emergency with my favorite suit before an important job interview, pants ripped at the seam and the jacket was wrinkled beyond belief. I walked into Nora's cleaners with zero notice and a lot of hope. Not only did she fix the seam while I waited, but she also gave the suit a fresh press and refused to overcharge me like the other cleaners. I was told my clothes would be done on a Wednesday at 12pm by the wife. When I went to pick them up the husband told me no they would be ready on Friday after 4pm. Not a big deal I understand things happen luckily I had a second option to wear at home. When I went to pick up my clothes though the husband was extremely rude to me. I thought perhaps he was just having a rough morning or was very grouchy. After reading through reviews it seems like that is just how the owners treat people. Beware of new partners!!!! They overcharge and blatantly lie to your face. I have been going to Nora's for years, since I moved to the SCV. I never had an issue. I have referred many friends and trusted them with my vintage dress collection. Today I went in to pick up my dry cleaning; the original receipt was for $108.55 - this is not unusual for me. I happen to have found a discount card that I had purchased in a bundle that still had 50% off available so I presented it at check out, like I have done in the past. The new partner started typing away at the computer and then stated my new total was $68.74. I am not a math wiz but that is not 50% off. When i questioned her about the total she told me it was because my pants needed special treatment, mind you there was no mention of special treatment she. She was going to collect $108.55. These have never needed special treatment in times past. Really the only reason I took them is because I didn't want to press them myself. They are not even fancy! When I asked about the special treatment she told me they could not disclose that and that I could speak to her boss on Monday. I questioned her on speaking to her boss because she said they were partners. Then she said they were new partners. Then she said they were not new partners and when I asked her for her boss' name once again she told me they could not disclose that. I absolutely loved Nora's. I trusted the but with these new partners I think it is time to look for another dry cleaner to take my business and that of my friends business to. I gave 3 trousers for the length to be altered and inquired about the charge. I was informed it is $15 per trouser and the total would be $45. After a few days I went to collect the trousers and was charged $59.36. When I questioned the bill I was told that $15 was charged extra for ironing. However, I had never asked them to be ironed. Why would I have paid $5 each for ironing when I could have the cleaned for $5.75 with them? This was a rip off and be careful if you avail their services. Get the estimate in writing. I brought a sleeveless sweatshirt in which had a loose thread on the back of the armhole which simply needed a few stitches to tack it down. Leena and her tailor are absolutely fantastic!!! I am big on thrifting and altering. Leena has turned many dresses that should have been left in a landfill into formal perfection. Our last dress was particularly tricky, the fabric was cheap, the cuts were wrong- she was able to pin and alter to correct the seams and create a very expensive looking, tailored finish. She always does a great job with the pinning & problem solving and their tailor takes over and creates clean alterations. I can't recommend Leena enough! She is very knowledgeable and can also work with your visions and add suggestions to make your pieces look and fit correctly. read more

I been a customer for years the original owner was very cool. My job is demanding I'm an on call employee for overtime. I had a suit jacket tailored and I had not pick up my jacket for 2 months. The new owner called me upset saying please come and pickup your jacket. I told her give me a week. I didn't make it because I was called in for OT I try to explain why I haven't pick up my jacket. Where to begin, I brought in a hat and a patch given to me from the show I'm working on to be sewn onto front of hat. I wanted the patch to sit a little bit low, so the manager (Nora son) said no problem. I said it would take four days. I came back on the fourth day and saw they had sewn into the hat sweat band. This band is the part of the hat that touches your forehead and was now heavily creased and very uncomfortable. I told my wife and she and I have been coming to Nora's for four years and never had a problem. I came back in and spoke with the son he said to fix the work it would be ready on Monday. After that he said now Tuesday and I said if I did not call would I have come back in and been told it would be another day. I said it's been two weeks to sew on a patch if she can't get out today I want my money back. He complied then got really nasty when I asked to speak to the owner (his parents). He then said he was the owner, then said no his parents are the owner he was visibly shaking. It was not my intention to upset him but he then asked me to write a bad yelp review. I had yelp open because someone also complained about the seamstress. He then said to get out of his store which I think was really excessive. I'm writing this so the real owners know that I had every intention of doing more business in the future. So maybe they can reach out to me and make this right. The people who run this place are super nice and helpful. They always offer to help me bring my stuff (sleeping bags, towels, etc) from the car to inside the business and visa-versa. They have been very flexible with timing, and have even offered to drop off my stuff at a nearby location/house for no charge so that our non profit can run our outdoor programs in time. They appreciate the work our non-profit does for veterans, so they help us out and that really shows you what kind of business this is. Highly recommend! read more

I was completely overcharged and will never give this store my business ever again. I was charged $135 dollars for a dress to be hemmed and pressed. I'm not very tall so I have been getting long dresses hemmed since I can remember. I'm new to the area and chose to have services done here because this location was closer to my house than SCV Cleaners. Everyone was overly friendly and I left feeling I left my dress in the right hands. When I went to pick it up and was told the price I was completely shocked! My dress has two thin layers of fabric but nothing more than a liner and the chiffon like fabric. I'm a nursing student and do not work so I purposely put money aside to pay for the dress and alterations to attend my best friends wedding. I've never paid more than $50 dollars for this type of service on similar dresses with even more layers or intricacies. I cried in my car for about an hour and borrowed money from my grandma to cover the expenses. I signed the receipt for the sale of the dress because I could not leave the store without it. If I could have refused the sale I would have. I felt like I was taken advantage because of my age or maybe because I came to pick up my dress in scrubs and the owner assumed I could afford to price gauge me. The two layer hem according to the receipt was $120 dollars. I don't know if I'm alone, but that seems completely outrageous to me. They are very humble people and I like how they don't put on a facade. They are who they are. The cleaning is top notch and has never left me disappointed and the prices are fair. There's nothing else you can ask for from a cleaners. Oh and they're also flexible with the time frame in which you get your clothes back. I will not be going back to Nora's Cleaners! I took three shirts in to be cleaned last week. Today, when I went to pick them up, I was charged $37.80. When I recovered from my shock and asked why I was being charged such an outrageous amount, I was told that the shirts had spots on them that needed extra cleaning. Really??? These were not great shirts to begin with -- think I bought them at a thrift store. $37.80 for cleaning these three shirts is highway robbery, and to have not at least been informed that I would be charged at least double to get them cleaned is most dishonest. Recently my husband brought in his hat to have a simple patch to be sewn on. We left the hat there and four days later the work came back completely incorrect. My complaint is not with the work but mainly how the supposed owner of the business treats his customers.
