We had a leaking bathroom tub faucet. During the course of working on this we discovered the main water shut-off valve also needed to be replaced in order to complete the work. This necessitated the city coming out to shut off the water, and while we waited for that the plumber went on another call. When he had the parts and the city had come by, the plumber completed the job quickly - he was very pleasant and efficient. The problem was the outrageous amount we were charged for this work - $1,420. We felt we had no choice but to have the work done because we were having trouble finding other plumbers to do the work. I had to ask the company for a receipt, and wanted to know the parts and labor totals. They did not provide that and I have already let the company know I would wait to write this review if they wanted to provide a breakdown. I received no reply. We feel that this was an outrageous charge and for no more that two hours of labor and parts that seem to be inexpensive when looking on the internet. read more

We've now had three wonderful experiences with Norblom. They're reasonable, friendly, articulate, show up when they say they will and they do great work. This last time, we had both toilets fixed. One of them we didn't even know needed maintenance, so it was really nice that he checked and replaced a few inexpensive parts. It flushes much easier now as it was too stiff for our three year old to flush previously. She had to leave her tiny turds in there for one of us to find and flush, so this was truly a gift. The toilet in the main bathroom started running again about a week after it was fixed so we called back. They warrantee their work for 30 days so they sent someone out and he figured out that the water level was too high, installed another new flapper and just did a thorough job all-around. He let me know that if this toilet acts up again, they'll have to charge, which I totally understand, but more than that, he communicated this fact to me clearly and directly. Communication is key! We tried to tip one of the guys and he walked out the door as fast as he could saying "You guys use that money to buy much-deserved beer." (we have three small children, same as him, so he "gets it.") SUCH nice folks, from Amy on the phone to the plumbers in the field. You won't regret going with Norblom. Do it. Do it now. read more

I had water leaking out of the wall of my house. Kris was polite, efficient and a nice guy. He found the problem (which was a pipe leaking IN THE WALL) right away and had it fixed in no time. I think plumbers all charge the same amount, so this wasn't a "deal", but the service was excellent, the plumber knowledgable and decent (ie, I didn't feel like my personal safety was in jeopardy, being home alone with him). We returned from a lengthy vacation to find that our water pipes were frozen. Tried to thaw ourselves, but it ultimately needed service. After looking here on Yelp, we called Norblom for help. Zach came out and inspected the pipes, identified the frozen part, and helped us thaw it within 30 minutes. Efficient and effective, and only charged for the service call. Later that day, we discovered a clog near our laundry drain. Another call to Zach, and the next day he returned to snake it out within 20 minutes. No fuss, and the cost was reasonable. Called Norblum yesterday afternoon to have them come out and look at my upstairs tub drain that wasn't working - drained as if through a pinhole. They were able to schedule me for the following day at 2 pm. They provided text and phone call reminders which were great. Today they were great about contacting me with updates on their arrival. Arrived at 2:40 pm and he came right in and took a look. My biggest fear was a previous quote I got for $900+ to fix from a different company. However, Norblum was able to review the situation and estimate it would take him less than an hour to fix. All told it would be around $250. He was done in 45 min and was still able to fill the tub up to make sure there weren't any leaks. And it all came in at their time estimate. I couldn't believe it! I was quoted 1,100 for a 6hr vanity rough in and water softener install. I agreed to have just the vanity hooked up and the softener would wait for another day. The plumber arrived on time but didn't introduce himself and really seemed rather unhappy about doing his job. I cringed every time he dropped his sawsall and tools on my brand new tile. Thankfully I put cardboard down to protect it. The walls were all open and pipes were easily accessible but he ended up taking 5 hrs to add a sewer line, a vent and 1 set of water lines and left a big mess for me to clean up. I was charged $1,280 for the job (900 for labor and 400 for parts). Nowhere near the time or cost I was quoted. I called Steve who gave me the quote and he denied ever quoting me the $1,100. I asked if he thought I just made up the figure in my head and he seemed to agree...basically calling me a liar. He claimed to be right in the ballpark, however, I still have a water softener to install. I don't mind paying the money I am quoted, but their estimate was way off. I asked if there was a way to meet in middle ground to earn me as a repeat customer by finishing the softener job at a lesser rate to satisfy the quote but he refused. I found Norblom via Angie's List when we were looking to have a new gas dryer installed in our home. I was blown away by the customer service that we received both pre-appointment and during. The woman on the phone was extremely professional in providing an estimate and an overview of the installation process. After calling a few other places, I ultimately decided to move forward with Norblom because they had great customer service and competitive rates. The best part was they had availability the next day! Chris the technician barely beat me to my house after calling to let me know he was only a few minutes away. Although I was flustered that I was late, he was extremely understanding and friendly. He didn't even charge me for the few minutes that he waited! The installation was a bit more complicated than anticipated (aren't they always?). We knew we needed to replace the old gas hookup as it was no longer compliant, but we also needed to run new duct work to the outside. Chris also explained that the hoses Best Buy provided for hookup are not even legal to use in the state. He provided a new gas hose as well as water hoses for our new washer. He rerouted the dryer vent up towards the ceiling rather than running it on the floor (which was annoying to clean around) and insulated the whole thing really well. He even hooked up the steam function between the washer and dryer and the drainage hose to our dump sink. It was all very thoughtful! Although we ended up paying more than anticipated based on the complexity of the job and new materials required, we feel confident that Chris did a fantastic job and our dryer has been setup safely and correctly. It was time for us to order a new dryer...the one that came with our house was over 30 years old and could be heard all over the house. Since we had to buy a gas dryer, the hook up was going to be more extensive. We were put off by the price Home Depot was quoting...over $300 with parts being extra, etc. We figured we could find this service for cheaper and liked the idea of supporting a local company, so my husband decided to do some plumber research and found Norblom. They were very helpful over the phone and they were here on a Monday morning after calling for the service on a Saturday. The plumber who came was quick and helpful and explained everything thoroughly. To top it off? It was just a little over $200! The work done was fine - however, the permits that needed to be pulled were supposed to be pulled over a month ago (this is important because we need for a city fire code inspection). We we had to follow up multiple times with the office person to receive confirmation the correct permits had been pulled (which they had NOT been - she promised to look into right away, but she had to call me back a couple hours later because she lost the address for our property... so I guess we have different definitions of "right away"). Called about a leak in my 43 Year old water heater at about 10:00 am and discussed my replacement choices and needs also discussed potential additional work to bring the install up to code. We live in an old house, and our basement drain backed up on Saturday morning. I called Norblom and left a voicemail. I picked Norblom based off of all the good reviews here and I have to agree with everyone! I just moved into my house a few months ago and my mom noticed water spots on the ceiling of the basement bathroom when she was visiting. I called yesterday and they were able to come out today. The plumber showed up at the beginning of the two hour window, found the leak, taught me how to fix it, showed me where the whole house water shut off was, and helped me find my outdoor shut off. I had an emergency - leaking toilet - and the first two plumbers I tried - first one never returned my call, second was booked out 3 days, so I checked yelp and picked Norblom. And this is why I love Yelp! I found a great plumbing company with minimal effort. I added in a bunch of work I have needed doing for ages, but could live with ( dripping taps etc. ) ( Here's a tip - at $3 a minute, know what you need to say, and talk fast! I would guess I spent $45 talking to the guy! ) Anyway, Andrew turned up early ( after getting a phone call to make sure it was OK ) clearly explained the work based on my request.
