Most every time that I've come in to the Rack in Brea it's been a pretty good experience all around - including customer service. Tonight, not so much. Late this afternoon, I returned a couple of pairs of sneakers that were handled quickly and very politely by a young male cashier (RNG Emp: 30221073/ Reg # 4901/ Return # 30306700 - the employee's name wasn't on the receipt). After this transaction, I picked up a pair of Lucky Brand pants that were on sale and went back to the cashier area where I waited, along with other customers, while two female cashiers were shooting the breeze. The cashier, Bianca H. (Reg# 4903/Trans 8909) who finally called me over didn't say anything to me. NOTHING! I kept waiting for her to say, "Hello, 'How are you,' 'Kiss my foot," or something. But she didn't. At the end of the transaction, I waited for a moment thinking she would at least say something to me, but she just looked at me and handed me the receipt. Not a peep out of her! There wasn't a, "Thank you," or "Have a great day." There was still no acknowledgment of me -- "the customer." Most of the time, I would just shrug-off this kind of employee's poor customer skills as a poor hire. But tonight, I feel that my view is a bit different. I wondered to myself, how would this employee feel if she was treated this poorly? Customer service is important in retail. Very important! Especially important at Nordstrom's Rack or Nordstroms who claim to be highly customer service oriented. So, with the transaction numbers above, you -- the management, can see clearly the money that I routinely drop at The Rack and at Nordstroms. Your customer service and hiring procedures need to be reviewed because customers are what will make or break a business. And, I want to treated as a long-time and good customer should be treated -- with respect. read more

When this location opened I would have rated it 5 stars for organization and selection. Unfortunately over the past year or two it has become overly cluttered with overstuffed racks on which you can't move a hanger lest another fall off! The shoe section is also difficult to browse as the shoes are no longer organized by type (although the sneakers do tend to be together which is nice). The dressing rooms? I've stood in line ignored for (rooms were available, mind you) while the ladies there help other people in the dressing rooms or go back in the stock room. I've left more than once without making a purchase because of this. What has improved and earned 3 stars instead of 2 is the improved check out. The multiple locations at which you can purchase directly in a department are convenient and usually have short lines. Good job on that facet. I hope in the future that this location will return to the organized state in which it was when it opened and I hope that some new people will get hired for the dressing rooms who actually make eye contact, smile, and quote you a wait time... and perchance explain why you're being asked to wait if multiple rooms are open. read more

Staff were all super friendly. Huge selection of clothing. My daughter and I got to try on anything we wanted to and even use the bathroom. They were sanitizing and marking each changing room after each person. The store had several customers but it didn't feel crowded. There was plenty of space to maneuver about. Purchased 3 gorgeous dresses, shoes, kid jewelry, face wipes, and eye lashes. All discounted of course! read more

Update: 2/20/17 I was at the rack once again. I bought a ton of sneakers for myself and my S/O. This time, I asked the person ringing me up about my card number so I can use it online since I converted my debit Nordys card (no longer had on me) to Visa Nordy. I was advised to call customer service. CS then told me on my way home (by this time the rack is closed) that they could have rang me in store for the items I wanted online, which there was an additional 17 items I'd like to buy. Since I was told by an employee instore that they are closed at 9:06pm and I needed to leave. Phoned CS told me they couldn't do anything about. Considering I am getting the literal butt end of CS out of this store, I am cringing to return to this store. ------------------ 2/18/17 I'm so beyond upset at their customer service! I went in last night and found the perfect pair of trouser for my engagement! They said they couldn't sell me the item because there were NO TAgs nor designer tag, but security tag still attached. I said okay that's fine. However I was determined so I search all over the Internet and I found them on eBay! I said this morning and told Sable about the situation and she told me she would call back after she spoke with GM. I then did not receive any calls so I called 5 hours after my first phone called and told GM (guess she was there last night) and said "there's nothing we can do and it is already shipped out." Even though I mentioned to her I found them for Max Mara and will include photos here. This store really has bad service and and the employees are just awful, the cashier Brianna d was being very rude to me and very very racist towards me. This store usually is very good with me but this woman was being extremely rude and would not let me pay for some items I was trying to purchase. Kudos to my favorite Nordstrom Rack location for so many reasons! It is always clean and organized. I usually find exactly what I want and more. Friendly and helpful staff as well. Allison is my favorite sales associate. She's fast, efficient, and goes beyond to make my shopping experience a positive and pleasant one every time. I got my niece Converse shoes and Juicy hoodies from this Rack. She had fun trying on different shoes and even helping other customer picking out shorts. This is my second time shopping at Nordstrom Rack ever. Last time I was browsing and didn't have anything particular I needed/wanted or that caught my eye. This time however, there was a brand with two separate racks, one marked with a sale and the other not. When I asked one of the employees if it was the same deal, she said she'd get someone from that department. I heard her near me use her headset to get someone to come over and assured me that someone was coming. Great! I looked around right in the same area and waited literally 5 minutes. No one ever came. Long story short after a great time shopping with my Mom finding nice things for ourselves we come to the register where Suzanne H is helping us out, this is where things get interesting. My Mom was asked to provide her phone # in order to access her benefits, my Mom said no it's fine. Suzanne rudely I mean rudely in a mean condescending way told my Mom in order to access your account you need to provide your phone #, again my Mom said no it's fine. My Mom was paying with her Nordstrom card it's not necessary to provide a phone # Suzanne should know that. Suzanne was clearly irritated and had a mean look on her face, really is that necessary just because a customer doesn't want to provide their phone number? Learn some basic manners Suzanne because obviously your Mom taught you none. Worst customer service experience ever at any Nordstrom Rack all thanks to Suzanne and her rude attitude. read more

I usually like the Rack at Metro Pointe in Costa Mesa because that's where I found my Juicy Couture wallet and Fendi sunglasses, but it's so crowded now. I mean, Brea is crowded, but not as crowded as Costa Mesa's rack. I came here the other day and found Steve Madden Midory booties for only $14...I think I pinched myself ten times..what an awesome deal!! The best deal I've had so far at any Rack.. You have to come here when they have deliveries on merchandise. I think they come Weds or Thursday morning..This place does get messy, so be willing to scrounge and look around. If you're willing to take the time and spend a couple of hours looking for a diamond in the rough, then this place is for you. read more

I buy certain things from certain stores. I go to Nordstrom Rack pretty much only for Shoes, ties (Neck and bow) and button downs oxford shirts. Brea tends to be a lot more organized then Costa Mesa. THE GOOD: Ties! I'm a Tie whore, every time I go to a dept store I head straight for the Tie section like a kid heads straight for the candy section at a grocery store. Ties = neck candy. They have a great selection of ties at reasonable prices, although I've found a lot of the same ties like Penguin, Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY, Calvin Klein and Ben Sherman at Marshall's or TJ Maxx for $5 cheaper... They do carry bow ties though, which you don't see at most other department stores, even though Bow ties are making a come back. So that's a huge plus. Shoes! Nordstrom is known for carrying some great shoes, Allen Edmond's, NY Boot, Sperry and Cole Haan just to name a few. Shoes are a big deal for me, and I think most men should be doing their shoe shopping here for all their footwear. I lol in my head every time I see guys sporting those boxy slip on shoes you find at Ross. Come on fellas! Return Policy! I've returned items here that have sat in my closet for over a year, if you have the tags still attached and the card you bought it with they'll give you a full refund. I haven't returned anything that's been over a year but I wouldn't be surprised if they would return it if it was. THE BAD: The Button down Oxfords are segregated by brand. If it's an off brand, then they put them by size either on the rack or shelves. The off brands orginized by size that are on the shelves are kinda like the denim area, it gets frustrating at times trying to dig for a certain shirt, even if it is organized by size (some sleeves are longer then others) the styles have no rhyme or reason when it comes to organization. Sometimes I find some gems making the digging worth it, other times I feel like I should be compensated for all the time I wasted. THE UGLY: The Denim section always looks like it's been hit by a Tornado, but that's fine with me because I'm not so much into the trendy brands they carry like True Religion, R&R's and Joe's. When You start to see Costco carrying R&R's you know the trend is about to die. These days I'm more of a traditional dresser and stick with my good old Levi 501's. The Classics never die. If you're looking for Denim, just know you will most likely dig for your size and style. read more

I was in need of a shirt and tie for a gift, and Nordstrom Rack usually fits the bill. I usually head over to the Costa Mesa location as their men's area usually has a good selection. Apparently there was a sale going on as when I rolled by my brother in law's pad to pick him up, he had already gone to Costa Mesa and he said it was thrashed. So, off we went to Brea. It was an insanely windy weekend, and once we entered, it looked like the wind went through this store as well. Luckily, I had time to kill to sort through everything and I eventually found a nice getup. I would've picked up a new suit for myself, but c'mon... only 6 suits in my size? This Nordstrom Rack is the closest to where I live. However, with these type of stores, every visit is a hit or miss, depending on what you're looking for and the particular store location. I've found a great pair of Marc Jacobs sunglasses at the Outlets at Orange location while at this Brea location, I've found a great pair of Kenneth Cole Reaction sandals. I also came recently looking for board shorts, but just didn't find anything good. Overall there's no real complaint here except that the line can get pretty ridiculous at times, but I've noticed just about every Nordstrom Rack location has this problem. read more

This Nordstrom Rack is a lot smaller than the one in Costa Mesa. But one thing that remains the same is the arrogant attitude displayed by the employees. You think you're cool because you gotta "dress up" and wear five layers of make up to go to work? Well you're not. Nordstrom Rack... what an amazing store. Not everyone can afford the high prices of Nordstorm, but discounts + clearance items on name brand items? What is better than that?! My mom and I come here often to look through their racks. Sometimes things are still too pricey for me, especially if I am just looking for every day wear, but on brand items, yes please! Juicy Couture, Free People, all for a great price! 40%, 50%, sometimes even more! The best part has to be the shoes... they never disappoint me when it comes to finding the perfect shoes every time. They have shoes in every size, so I always find one for me! You can bring all your items into the fitting room.... so dont worry if you have 17 items, thats fine! (at least the ones I go to.) Discounted make up items, Urban Decay, Stila, the Balm. Purses and jewelry as well. I never feel bad walking in... because there are so many stylish people here! Everyone just loves a good deal! I love Nordy Racks, and out of all the Racks, this one tops my list. My advice is get on the list for their store events. For example, they have these "worn and refurbished" events where they sell name brand shoes for 75% off just because they were returned (but are perfectly fine and professionally cleaned). I got some Coach high-tops for $30 at one of these events (!) More recently (like, this past weekend), there were a bunch of these Juicy Couture striped blazers for $60 bucks at the rack. I didn't think much of them because they weren't my style, but that same day when I went to the regular Nordys at Brea I found the same EXACT blazer for about $150! I guess sometimes they don't even wait to sell the same stuff at the rack.. I guess my only warning is BUY FAST... If you see something good, buy it and just return it later. if you change your mind. There have been tons of times where I went back for something, sometimes later on that same day, and it'd be gone. And believe you me, it's an awful feeling. read more

Why would anyone want to shop at a regular Nordstrom after you go to the Rack? Sure you have to dig a bit and it may be a hit or miss to find the right sizing on an item but it feels so good to see how much you save after you ring it up on the register. I'm Asian. I LOVE bargains. =) I don't go to the Rack too often, but it is one of the places on my list to stop by when I'm hunting for some shoes. The shoe collection here is massive and you get great markdowns on designer shoes. I like to save but also spend a little extra money when it is good quality. The shoes here are very organized and have a wider selection than some other Rack locations. Besides the savings on regular items you'd see at Nordstroms this Rack also has a lot of clearance racks. Neatly organized by size. Soooo many racks of clothing. I love saving even more money! If you love their clothing styles and designer stuff (clothing, accessories, purses, etc), you'd have a blast here. Lines for the cash register do get long here, but their system is pretty organized so it moves fast. read more

After waiting in a very long line, I finally reached the sales person only to receive the worst service ever. So I contacted the store manager and it quickly became clear thatcher main objective was defend her employee by all all means. I will save you a long read by stating the issue in numbered points: I sent an email and the manager called me back. 1. After she heard my concerns about the rude sales clerk, she was quick to tell me that it was all about perception, (which in my opinion is code for it didn't happen, you just experienced it in your head) To which I clarified that the people in my party had also felt uncomfortable about the treatment we had received especially compared to how we have been treated at in the past. 2. Then she defended the employee and said that particular employee has an excellent track record. Further deminishing and undermining my concern. 3. The worst part was when she said that I should smile when I speak on the phone. What????? Clearly this person is projecting and isn't wiling to hold her employee accountable let alone hold them to a high standard of service excellence or even a modicum of politeness. Tell me that my complaint is imagined then deride me for not smiling (over the phone)? Maybe if the checkout line wasn't so bloody long, your exchange procedures more expedient (even with receipts) That is enough to cause a person to frown. So I've decided to stop shopping there completely, I will buy Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren, Lafayette148 merchandise directly from the manufacturers. Oh I definitely have a love/hate relationship with the Rack! I love that they have so many good things, I hate that I always end up spending so much money!! Be advised, it's always best to go to the the rack as early as you can - this place gets crowded, especially on weekends, so expect a line. Not to worry though, they are usually prepared for the long weekend line and usually have quite a few people at the registers. The Rack is a great place to find discounted anything. They've got children's clothes, men's, women's, shoes, athletics, and home goods. It's such a hit that even my husband loves shopping here. I think it's better set up than places like Ross or TJ Max. They do a great job of describing what you'll find on each rack as well as what sizes you'll find. They have tons of designer clothes. This is usually where I'll go to buy jeans - they've got Rockin' Republic, Seven for all Mankind, Joe's, AGs, ... really just about everything! They've also got a lot from the Nordstrom stores - castoffs from BP, and other Nordie favs! The Brea location definitely seems to be one of the goldmines! I've been to the Chino Hills location as well as the Glendale location and Brea is by far the best! They get new shipments on Tuesdays, so beware of mid-week crowds! read more

I discovered this place freshmen or sophomore year in college and I've been a fan ever since. Before that, apparently I had been living under a rock, because I never knew there existed such a place where you could purchase "off-season" (but who really cares) clothes for crazy prices (I've seen up to 70% off retail price!). Needless to say, I try to make it a point to come here every so often to check out the goods. There are great deals on designer sunglasses, perfume, shoes; everything! This place gets busy, especially on the weekends in the summer. Went in there to enjoy their AC when I was driving around the area in the 100+ degree weather. When you start MISSING a store you know you have a problem :p I haven't been in a couple of months but because I have a trip coming up, I am planning a commute to this Rack location! When I lived closer to this location I was here weekly. Sometimes just because. This rack is one of the largest I have been too and they frequently stock new items. Now, I frequent 3 different other Rack stores (Lakewood, South Coast, Culver City) and NONE of them compare. It is a struggle to find something worth buying in the three locations I just mentioned, but in Brea I NEVER have a problem. They also seem to have some of the best clearance deals, too. LOVE that the store is large, so if you like to hunt like I do, you will enjoy. The store is also typically organized and clean. Happy shopping! read more

I love this location because even though it's packed with people from opening till closing; they have a ridiculous amount of staff on hand. The company has had a major turn around in customer service by having it's associates wear lime-green t-shirts so you can identify them faster. My favorite section at this location is the shoe department, it's clean, well stocked, and they have a whole section of clearance. This place is unbeatable as far as outlet stores go, you're bound to find something in its vast selection. read more

Things I don't like about this place + long lines to purchase merchandise + long lines to enter the fitting room + long lines to get the other half to a shoe (sometimes the shoe man disappears and doesn't come back for 20 minutes) so be prepared to spend a good chunk of time in line if you come on a friday, saturday or sunday. I thought I was being swift by coming here last friday around 2 o clock but it was a mad house! What I DO like about nordstrom rack are the finds!!! + Great jean selection + Great shoe selection + Great makeup and hair product On my Friday trip I bought two pairs of jeans here at $79 each (Hudsons/William Rast). And I took advantage of the same day alterations (the guy is there from 10 am to 6 pm). Even though it's $14 and I can get it done for $7 in Westminster, the jeans are already so well priced that I don't mind having it done here. The seamster can also repair other items too (find a blouse you like with a missing button or hole in it ? no problem!!) read more

My finance had just returned a few clothing items as I was browsing around the store. I forgot to tell him not to return one of the shirts. We went right back to the cashier to see if we could buy it back. Lorraine, the cashier, said that they couldn't sell it back to me. I explained to her that my fiancé just returned the shirt. It had been less than 5 minutes since he had returned it. She rolled her eyes and found the shirt. I noticed that when she rang it up, it rang up as $29.99 when the price tag said $26.97. When I questioned her about it, she said that she wasn't able to change the price. When I questioned again, she reluctantly said that had to speak with the manager to change the price. She came back and rudely said that she would do it for us this just this ONE time, but that is something that they don't usually do. She said that even if the price was rung up incorrectly, if I didn't catch it before I checked out, I'm stuck with what I paid for it, even if it was a mistake on their end. I told her that what she said just didn't make sense. She rudely turned the screen in my direction and said, "I can do it for you just this ONE time. Do you want it or not?!" Wow, in all the years that I've shopped at Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack, I have never encountered such horrible customer service, especially when she had the wrong information. I know for a fact that if ANY store rung up the wrong price, they would make the adjustment for you, especially if the they were the ones who made the mistake originally. I asked to speak to the manager, Mary. Thankfully, she was very apologetic and cleared things up right away. She said that Lorraine was absolutely wrong and that she would speak to her about the policy. Thank God for Mary. I still can't believe the way we were treated by Lorraine. I used to hate digging through masses of clothes at any store. I would see a big rack of miss-matched clothes and I'd run. But now I'm hooked!! Just call me the little mole! I discovered the secret is to come often and only stay for an hour or so. I have found some major gems here. They do have alot of stuff that's old and still here after 6 months. However, when they have new deliveries like rounders of Juicy Couture and Seven jeans... it's pretty good. The layout of the store is new stuff in the front and as you head back you get to the clearance (old stuff) Men's selection here is pretty poor. They have tons of shoes. Kid's clothes are plentiful but you really have to dig. Jewelry here is pretty good and at great prices. Cute earrings for $5! Great customer service here. I once had a women help me with finding jewelry to match my dress for over a half hour. Wow..am I at Nordstrom or the Rack? The line to pay will look pretty long and intimidating sometimes.. but it goes fast plus it gives you time to look at all your loot while your in line and maybe grab some impulse buys from the beauty section! For some reason I very seldom find anything to purchase here. It could be bc the men's section is relatively small, especially if you are used to the metropointe location. However, the women's section including shoes seems to do the job as my wife hasn't had any trouble shopping. Like any Nordstrom rack, floor service is nonexistent. Cashiers tho are efficient and the line moves to a point below complaint level.
