The store must have recently changed its hours to close at 6 which is totally fine. However, I was unaware of this change and came in to shop at about 5:30. No one told me that the store was about to close and at 6:03 one of the workers came up to me and he yelled at me that the store was closed and said I had to leave. There were multiple people checking out and a couple still shopping and I didn't realize it was closing time. The worker was very rude and he told me to put all of my items on the nearest shelf because they were closed and they weren't able to check me out. I totally understand that they were closing and I would have been happy to put the stuff back and come the next day but he yelled at me and it freaked me out. I apologize for the in convenience and he was rude back. I'll probably never go back to that store after the experience I had. read more

I usually freak out when I come to Nordstrom Rack. I get all hot and shaky and feel dizzy in the frenzied crowds and endless racks of "bargains"--that said, I still like it. If you've got the time to comb the racks and aren't put off by waiting forEVER in the check-out line, you're probably going to find at least one thing to buy. Even if you don't need it. Which is usually the situation I find myself in. Sometimes it turns out that I DID really need that new hoodie or purse (which is usually what I find myself purchasing here and I'm not even a Purse Girl); sometimes not-so-much, which is why I appreciate their forgiving return policy. In fact, I might just have to use that return policy this week for last week's blinding blaze of retail therapy. But there's no way I'm giving back my new sparkly hoodie or my super soft sweater. They can stay. :) read more

Prices are a bit steep for a department store that's supposed to be discount. But there are some good finds here if you sift through the clearance section. I bought a cute purple skirt for $20. I think most of the clothes are good material and would last. The only thing that irked me was the cashier. I noticed they had a "rewards" card they were advertising at checkout. So I decided, why not? I inquired about it, asking if the rewards card was free, and the cashier said yes. I asked "it's not a credit card, right?" and the cashier told me it's not. I decided to go ahead and get one - I already have 10 or so rewards cards on my keychain, what's one more? She asked for my general information, which I gave. Then she asked for my social security number. Red flag. I asked her why I needed to provide that, and she told me "so you can shop without your card!" Um, I don't understand what the big deal is about carrying a rewards card? Or providing a phone number instead? Whatever. Next she asked me for my banking account number - red flag #2. At that point I decided that this is really sketchy. So I said nevermind the "rewards" card and completed my purchase without it. Today, I looked it up, and turns out they don't have a stand-alone rewards card (like Jewel, Dominick's, etc.). The CREDIT CARD has rewards. I felt that this was very dishonest of her to blatantly lie to me, especially because I asked flat-out if it was a credit card. Very weird. Buyer beware. read more

jeans these days cost over 200 dollars. which is nutso, but they make your butt look hot. what's a girl to do? go to nordstrom rack! those same jeans, from the same season, that you will pay over $200 bucks for will run anywhere from $50-$100. the shoe section is only a place to set foot in if you have some self restraint. actually, know your budget before you even set foot in the store. you will have to make some big decisions in the dressing room, but at least your checking account will stay in the black. read more

There are pretty good deals on seven and true religion jeans and sometimes they will sell these jeans for $59 (you can't beat that!). I also like to come here for shoes, boots, jackets, t-shirts and sunglasses. My only issue is that it's sort of congested and crowded but other than that, it's a pretty cool store to shop out & I pretty much don't leave out of here empty handed. read more

Out of the many discount stores that make up State Street, Nordstrom Rack is one of the classiest, but also hardest for me to find anything I like stores. For me, I can handle this version of Nordstrom's where it's all about the discounts and no frills experience. Oftentimes, I'll wander the first floor for cool finds in jewelry or handbags. I have the worst luck in the clothing department for Nordstrom Rack. I just can never seem to find anything that appeals and flatters the figure. The shoe department looks like a hurricane blew through it on a daily basis. The fitting rooms are on par with other discount retailers and never a great experience. Overall, I like Nordstrom Rack in theory, but it just doesn't seem to deliver the goods for me. read more

Like most places (literally, generally, in life, etc.), knowing your expectations helps a lot when going into Nordstrom Rack. Since this place is packed full of items that did not originally sell, it's really very hit and miss. But, when the day comes and you finally find a hit, I feel that it's a real hit. I'd been here a few times and left empty-handed until about the fifth time I wandered back off of State Street. What I concluded is that the clothing (sans the coats) and shoe departments are more often than not going to be unwearable and overpriced. But, their sunglasses, pillows, underwear and perfume sections are pretty fantastic! read more

Did some Christmas shopping for myself here yesterday, and got a great deal on a Jones suit for work ($68) and some other basic shirts. My sister found some really nice gifts here too. Since Nordstrom is too high priced for my taste, I'm perfectly happy with the really nice items all priced reasonably at the rack. Oh yeah, and the cashier that helped us had awesome hair! read more

It's fun to browse for stuff here, but I would only recommend to those who love the challenge of the hunt. They have a lot of great products at reasonable prices, but it is cramped. My favorite things to shop for here are handbags, cheap winter gloves (because I'm always losing mine), Sweaters, Coats and Shoes. I bought my lovely Anne Klein Red wool coat here last year for $100 bucks...a steal as it retails for over $200. If you want to shop when there isn't a lot of other people, I would go after work around 6:30pm. read more

This is not a small town rack. This place had a nice selection of designer stuff - not the dregs like some other smaller cities. Actually reminded me of the mother ship in Seattle. I told my teenagers we should eat lunch before entering - we came out 2 hours later hangry bur all of us with treasures. They have learned! read more

You can find sneaky good deals at this location. The merchandising could be better, but you get some pretty fab designer brands. They also told me that you can buy anything online and return it in store which I think is a pretty great perk. read more

The best way to approach Nordstrom Rack is with extreme patience. I would say the best deals are to be found in the shoes, purses, dresses and jean departments. The last time I was there, I spent a good hour browsing and trying things on, and what did I walk out with? A Coach messenger bag for the bargain of $120, originally marked at $358. If you can tell me where else I could have gotten that deal at, I will kiss your feet. Aside from that I've gotten some great Seven jeans, Michael Kors tops and great party/casual dresses. Looking through the racks can be frustrating, but if you stick with it you'll thank yourself when you walk out with $120 worth of purchases that should have cost you $300 or more. read more

I tend to think of Nordstrom Rack as hit or miss for shoes & clothes. Once in awhile I find something awesome, but it's maybe 1 out of 5 times I come in here. Shoes are even tougher for me to find in my size (so I have big feet, sorry). But the accessories are the best part of this store. This is where I come when I need a new LeSportsac bag (which is every few months) or when I need a watch, sunglasses, or some jewelry. They have an awesome selection of really great stuff for a great deal. Recently I bought a pair of Betsey Johnson sunglasses for $40 (originally $100). read more

Great place to get towels, sheets, and other household items. Their shoe selection is also amazing, but you have to be really patient to shop here. Don't come here if you have a lot of things to carry with you. You have to be dressed comfortably and patient to look through all their stuff. I never pay full price for anything and I really like coming here when they have their clearance sales. Because I have to dress up for work, this is the best place to find a lot of work clothes without spending a lot of money. read more

I like this store and the location. It's close to work so I can stop by whenever. Everything is cheaper than norstrom of course. I can find really good deal of purses here. Love their clearance section of course. Only reason I give 4 stars is the line is very long all the time. Esp during lunch hours, all the working people come here during lunch hours to check things out. But the employees are doing a great job of making the line moving. No parking or very expensive street parking or parking garage. Recommend public transit. read more

Bought an item on 4/15/16. It was double-charged. Took 2 months and multiple phone calls to finally have someone in the Dispute Department acknowledging this and telling us that we'll get a refund. Problems at multiple levels. 1. The store clerk who scanned the item and charged our Nordstrom card, swiped the card twice. Immediately she was asked whether it was double-charged but after some "checking" she said everything went through fine, just once and the card wasn't charged twice. This is why I am writing the review for this location on Yelp. 2. On 4/24/2016, I discovered that it was in fact double-charged soon after I made the payment on the same day. Nordstrom if you are reading this, you can look it up. Ref # 2477744FW01QDLKMK and 2477744FW7Z8SH6LG. I called Nordstrom card services immediately asking for a refund and the representative on the phone very nicely TOLD ME that it will be refunded in a few days. 3. I called about 3-4 weeks later asking what was up as the refund was never made on the paper statement that I got in May. The representative at that time told me that the refund was already made and HE WAS SEEING THE REFUND IN HIS SYSTEM AND I should be seeing this through the online statement. 4. I checked the online statement but it wasn't there. So I called again. Now another representative answered and told me that it was actually being held in the Dispute Department. She told me to call them and leave a message so that they could call me back. 5. By this time, I had spent more than 75 minutes on the phone (including the wait time) with these 3 phone calls already and I got sick of waiting. I told her this and she said she was going to call them for me and I could just wait for a call back. (This was the week before Memorial Day) 6. Of course, no call back. So I called again the next week. I waited 15 more minutes again and was told that the claim was still in the Dispute Department and it could take up to 2 more weeks. She told me that she would follow this up and give me a call in 2 weeks. 7. 2 weeks go by and I got no response from Nordstrom. So I called again (6/14/16) and got transferred to the Dispute Department. I spoke with the representative today and she told me that she apologized for the held-up. She was seeing that I got double-charged and would make the adjustment right away which could take up to 2-3 days. Then the check will be mailed to me which will arrive in 7-10 business days. So for a simple "immediately correctable" mistake that was made by the incompetent store clerk who was working at this location and claimed that everything was fine, I had to go through all that finally to get the refund. Obviously, the phone-representatives weren't competent either as every answer I got was different or incorrect, and there were never any follow-ups which were PROMISED to me. Also, from the response that I got today from the Dispute Department, the problem could have been fixed SO EASILY. Yeah sure, the refund was only $60.57 which may not be much but seriously, the stress I got dealing with you Nordstrom was worth more than that. Also, due to my experience as above, I know that I HAVE TO call Nordstrom AGAIN next week just to confirm that what I was told today is actually happening. Thanks. read more

This location is awful! Was just there yesterday and it is under construction--the dressing rooms are makeshift stalls with pieces of wood jabbing out of the plywood walls. It's hard to find anything with the remodeling and it seems like they have half the inventory they used to have (the jewelry cases are practically empty). The chicago/state location is much better. Or even better, go to the Oakbrook one. read more

I AM A RACK MANIAC!! I love the designer jeans and even more paying less than $100 for them... Yes the store can be a bit of a headache but it is a RACK, its hit or miss on what you will find. You have to roll up your sleeves and dig in. The shoe section I stray away from, it scares me for some reason...the shoes look neglected and unpresentable just tossed on the shelf like that. If I'm looking for a new pair of jeans or an evening gown for a wedding this is my first pit stop. I once found a $200 gown for $30 bucks. I got compliments out the whoozoo at the wedding and I was proud to say, $30 bucks at the rack, yep! I felt so lucky! You can find some amazing clothes here and of good quality, unbelievable deals! read more

Ahhhhhh OK....shopping nirvana has been restored! I have always shyed away from anything with Nordstrom in the title for fear that anything located in the store would be way beyond my budget but I was VERY plesantly suprized by The Rack. The shoe department brought particular delight, lots of choices and good prices too. Of course I picked up the most expensive pair of Jimmy Choo boots (and quickly put them back) but it's nice to know that you can get some serious discounts here on really high end merchandise. The clothes were a better deal with many quality name brands and a fraction of the cost. Of course these are not the current styles, probably last season I'm thinking. Overall though there was a lot of choices and it wasn't all jumbled together. I will definately be going back on a day when I can really spend some time looking for the good deals! Better edited than TJ Maxx and Marshalls, but still quite hit or miss. On some days they have 75% off sale racks and the deals are pretty good. I came in a couple of weeks ago and they had a 90% off designer apparel sale, which meant an Alberta Ferretti dress for under $50. I'm also very much a fan of their lingerie collection. It can be pretty hit or miss here, but when you do find something worth buying it's always a great deal! Shoes especially. Even if I don't find anything I love enough to buy I always have fun wasting some time here. The store is usually pretty well organised. I had the best experience here the other day: I grabbed about 6 pairs of jeans and went to the dressing room. Discounts ranged from $99-$12 designer jeans. What a huge score that the jeans that fit best were marked down to $15. I wanted to cry in the dressing room; I was soo excited. Then, my friend found this cute green dress and told me to try it on, I was hesitant, because it was a medium, but optimistic since green is my favorite color. The dress was awesome, a perfect new going out dress- $12. Then on our way out, I spot this awesome black sheer top. I opted to just try it on over my clothes rather than hassle with the dressing room; it was a big winner as well- $14. I am rarely so happy after shopping, but I felt like I found things that I loved and payed ten times less than what they were worth. I have a Nordstrom's gift card & I plan on bringing it back here to catch a few more steals. read more

Since I come here at least once a week, why not review it. Everyone who knows me knows that my favorite stores are Target and Nordstrom Rack!! My heart goes pitter patter every time I enter these stores. This Nordstrom Rack isn't nearly as good as the ones in the suburbs (I think the ones in Naperville and Northbrook just might be the best), but if you live in the city and don't feel like the trek, this one is your best bet. I was so excited for the other downtown location, but that store is seriously the worst. Other than being across from Chick-Fil-A, that store has nothing on this one to me (oh wait, I did see a pretty fab BCBG jacket there - and scored some rocking suede knee high boots for 30 bucks last winter...maybe I need to think about this more...hmmm) Since I am a tall, leggy girl, premium denim is my best friend. i'd like to thank all of the designers who started making super long jeans for no reason (Paige, Joe's, Rock and Republic, Hudson, etc.). However, I am not sure if there will ever be a time in life that I will pay $200 for a pair of jeans. That's where the Rack comes in. Their Joe's are always priced between 59.97-79.97 and the other designer jeans are in the same range. You can get these even cheaper on clearance ($25 for some $200 jeans? um, yeah, I'm in love). Actually, the best time to shop here is when they are doing their big clearance deals. They used to put stickers on the clearance items (extra % off), but now they just mark it down, but if you are willing to sort through the items, you can find some remarkable deals. Someone else mentioned this, but another thing I like about the Rack is that they sell current stuff. Numerous times I've gone here and seen things for dirt cheap that are being sold at Macy's, etc....it just kinda makes you warm inside to know you are scoring a deal. I also love the Rack for their awesome shoe collection and awesome purse selection (although the purse selection at this location as of late has been terrible but I think that's only because I'm on a search for a new bag-the fashion gods are playing a joke on me). Their earrings/wallets are hit or miss but when they have something cute, it's cuutteee!! Oh, the men's section is pretty fab. They have the BEST designer shirts and sweaters for dirt cheap. They also have a great selection of men's suits. Last thing-they offer alterations, which you can use for things that you didn't even buy at Nordstrom or the Rack. Only bad thing, the regular Nordstrom has a beyond generous return policy...you can return something with a kmart tag and they will give you cash back for it, lol, but those games aren't played at the Rack. Unless you bought it within the last 30 days, things can get a bit sketch. But what the hell, I only paid $9 for this cardigan anyway, so I'll just give it to someone else if I can't return it! I have a problem: I love shopping. Not like it...LOVE it. However, I cannot wrap my mind around blowing lots of money on my shopping sprees. A dress at Saks that is costs more than my monthly rent? No, can't do it! But Nordstrom Rack's prices? That's something I can do. I've never been a big follower of designer duds, but even I have fallen victim to their charms in this store. I now own heels that I had only ever dreamed of having. What keeps this fro being five stars is the layout of the second floor. The racks need much more spacing, it's hard to weave through them. And it's always crowded, so if you're claustrophobic, you might be in some trouble! read more

I guess they have some good deals here and I have encountered a few, but I dread shopping here -- especially in the shoe section. I like to take my time and browse through the shoes, but I just don't have the patience. I do have to say they have a nice and wide selection of shoes, especially in my size. I wear a 51/2 or 6 and I love that I have nice shoes to choose from. However, the shopping experience is not my favorite. It is soooooo crowded and the aisles are sooooo narrow... I just hate being in the way of other people when they are trying on shoes. I also don't like when people tower over me and don't give me sufficient shopping space-- which isn't too much at 4ft 11. I feel like i literally just do a quick browse and walk on through. It is just way too crowded for me. read more
