It really is a hit or a miss sometimes. But most of the time you can find something extraordinarily cheap. I just recently got a pair of TOMS for 29 bucks and a pair of the Troyy Steve Madden studded boots for around 49. Just recently I've been spotting some dolce and gabbana, Prada, and jimmy choo (on the men's shoe aisle) for ridiculously low prices. The thing is to come prepared for at least 2 hours if you want to find a handful of things. Don't bring children because they will get annoyed easily and the staff their isnt tolerant when it comes to all the Rick rack the kids can cause sometimes. I went to Nordstrom last week to buy a suit. It was my first visit to a Nordstrom rack store I dint find a suit I liked in my size even after going through various racks and piles of suits. But I spent almost 200$ walking out of there with jeans, tops, underwear etc....It takes time and patience to go through stuff here. I was in the store by 1000am and I left at 100pm...Whew! Well, they remodeled it and the narrow isles make it difficult to shop. There is almost nowhere to sit and try on the shoes. I used to find tons of awesome styles, but lately I leave empty handed. I bought running shoes today but that is all I saw.... I was not crazy about them, but I was crazy about the price because I got $100 Nike's for only $50 with tax!!!!! Total STEAL!!!! I come here often when I visit my girlfriend to see if I find anything I like. Nordstrom rack is a great place to go find some really nice shoes and other items at a very cheap prices compared to original prices or the regular Nordstrom store prices for similar items. Once upon a time, this used to be a great place to find designer shoes and other apparel at a fraction of the price. It is unfortunate that the rack is primarily limited to the venders Nordstrom carries, since they are not all stylish anymore, and the best stuff from Nordstrom almost never makes it to the rack. The shoe department is ridiculous now. ten years ago I would find a dozen pairs of shoes I loved and have a terrible time choosing between them, now I can't find a single pair that is even remotely acceptable, and the days of rotating discounts according to the color of stickers in the shoes are apparently long gone. reasons to go to the rack before: shoes, size range, great sales. reasons to go to the rack now: size range. in other words, none. The rack also carries every men's fragrance except the ones anyone wears. I was inspecting jewelry in the accessories department and every piece I examined had been damaged, or had some piece of it stolen. I don't know about you, but I think damaged merchandise is generally referred to as clearance goods. You can't charge the same prices for that, or maintain a standard which customers respond to by leaving that kind of merchandise out on the sales floor. You also might try organizing your denim selection by size. That's the way every other store does it because nobody is going to dig through some huge pile of jeans. Whichever one of your marketing geniuses thought that idea up needs his head surgically removed from his own rear end. read more

I come here almost weekly. Great customer service. Women's dept. always has great finds. The shoes need to be organized better. I wear a size 7 and every time I'm in the section I'm always grabbing 8's or 9's and half the time they don't have the shoe I want in a 7. Shopping at Nordstrom Rack is sort of like gambling at your favorite casino, you'll lose out more than you'll win. But sometimes, you hit the jackpot and that is what keeps you coming back! This location is conveniently situated in downtown. Customer service seemed hit and miss but was mostly helpful once I could track someone down. The size of this place is a bit too small for my liking, even for a downtown retail store. But if you fancy a lot of foot traffic in a small area, then you best come on the weekends where it's nearly shoulder to shoulder while you look around. But for as crowded as it was when I came in, it didn't seem as messy as it should be (at least they attempted to keep messes in piles rather than all over the place). Overall, I'd say this is a descent Nordstrom Rack. It's a great location but the size of it is just too small. And although I don't expect to always find my size when i actually do find something I would like, I couldn't help but notice a lot of the selections were very limited in that aspect compared to what I am used to seeing at other locations (and retailers for that matter). But if you are into finding great bargains and clothing treasures for cheap(er), than of course you'll have to stop by here. read more

I hate reading reviews on Yelp when people only shop at a place once and then write a review. I come to Yelp for a thorough review which is why Ive been shopping here for a while before posting. As a person who is a keen shopper at places like Forever 21, Marshalls and Kohl's, this is a step up and I don't mind spending extra money for designer brands that I never thought I would ever own!!! In all my years in shopping on state street, I never went in here because I thought it was crazy expensive but I was wrong. (However designer brands cost more) My only gripe with the store really is the clientele they attract. Many people who shop here are the average person like me, but some of them, in my experiences, are stuck up with no manners and act like the world revolves around them. One of the first times I came into this store, this lady was throwing the biggest fit ever and me, being intrigued person I was, stuck around to see why when I seen this HUGE dog on a leash and I didn't need to see more. When she left out some customers thanked the security. It's clearly a sign on the door that says no pets allowed. She not only broke the stores rule but some customers were visibly frightened and annoyed. I don't know one store on state street that allows pets. Just saying. Why would this store be any exception? Oh because you shop at Nordstrom? No. The men section is probably the smallest section in the store but I was surprised they even had one. Most of the men section is on the dressy side like suits, ties, dress shirts with casual clothes on the other side. The women section is nice and big; however, the clearance section is the best part in my opinion. I got the most GORGEOUS Vince Camuto floral skirt for $38!!!! They have clothes for work, working out, juniors, plus sized, and everything else is just mixed in. But they don't have petites, maternity clothes or swim wear which is okay because I get my 2 pieces from Target! AKA Tarjae ;) I'm not big on shoes but they have a good range for the size of the section. They dont have kids shoes. Supposedly only the suburban locations do. Women shoes goes all the way up to 13!!!! Holy cow!!! They have a really small designer section for like Tory Burch, Valentino, Celine, Ferragamo, etc in the middle with men shoes on the other side. I just don't understand with the size of the shoe area, how some people can grab several pairs of shoes off the shelves, try them all on, and leave them scattered all over the floor. I used to work in retail so i know how annoying it is when customers leave things on the floor. Didn't your parents teach you guys manners ? Like just put them back or try on one shoe in the aisle. It's not rocket science!!! And that's why I don't work in retail anymore. My patience left the building right after Elvis!!! Accessories is my favorite part of the store!!!! Hats, scarves, jewelry, perfume, sun glasses, lingerie, purses, etc! LOVE IT! They sell high end makeup brands like Too faced, Nars, Urban Decay, and Stila. They also have Neutrogena, Philosophy and NYX stuff too but i don't consider those brands high end. I was eying this metallic green Butter nail polish for $7 but of course I didn't get it and it was gone the last time I came in. INSERT SAD FACE Overall I think the employees are helpful and take care of their customers probably because they don't work on commission and won't give you bs and lie to sell something like a commissioned person would. But I think for the amount of customers they attract, the store is understaffed. The store is self explanatory so you probably wont need help but a couple more people here and there would help. They have this thing where they can check you out on their iphone which is cool and convenient especially when the line downstairs is crazy. They have another store on Chicago and rush near the Ralph Lauren store but they are smaller. I love it here. It's right down the street from where I work. I have expensive taste in all things, yet my wallet does not always agree with me. Picture this. I get to work, and decide I hate what I'm wearing. It looks good at home in the light, but ends up not looking that great in the dark lights. You would think everything looks better in the dark. No so much, my friends. So I tromp on down to The Rack and pick out something else. This happens a few times a year. I don't always go here just in emergencies. I went there on purpose today and got 2 Michael Kors shirts, a Calvin Klein comforter for my bed, a pair of Betsey Johnson sunglasses, a tiny tube of Bliss hand creme, and 9 pair of fancy underpants for 200 clams. A straight up bargain. I mean, it's not thrift store prices. It's still Nordstrom. Just bargain Nordies. I like buying $400 Rock and Republic jeans here for $150. Every once in a while I find them. I didn't today. Hisssss.... However, once I found these fabulous gold, strappy, zippered shoes marked down from $600. I paid $25. Dayyy-uuummmmm. Case closed. read more

I have been shopping the Rack forever and usually do not have any problems with a return. However their new policy of no returns without a receipt is unacceptable!! I pay cash usually and I tried to return it in less than a week. I did not have either the paper or e-receipt and they would not even give me a store credit!! SHAME ON YOU NORDSTROM. I had the worst experience here with the store manager Kianna. She was extremely rude, unapologetic, and unhelpful. After 45 minutes of multiple failed attempts of the store staff trying to get my Nordstrom card to go through, which i don't even know why it wasn't going through since i literally just used it online and it worked, she was offering me no options of how to solve my issue. She just kept wanting to take the easy way out and have me use a different form of payment. The only reason I went to Nordstrom for the item I needed was so I can use my points so NO I don't want to use another form of payment. I asked her, What are my other options? She couldn't give me any other options. And then I asked her if she could hold my items until the next day since this was the only time I had available to come today and she said No, I can only hold them until tonight. I said are you serious? After being so unaccommodating and saying the issue was out of your control, yet holding my items IS in your control you have the audacity to tell me you can't hold them until the next day?! I'm NEVER shopping here again. I never wanna see Kianna's face again. Oh and then I called corporate and made a complaint, they called me back said that Kianna has agreed to hold my items until the next day. I laughed and said no thanks. She should've agreed to that earlier. read more

After sorting through tons of merchandise to find a piece in good enough condition to warrant a purchase, I ended up waiting in line for at least 20 minutes while watching numerous employees casually walking around seeming worthless. The cashier was courteous, but she scanned one of my items twice and didn't ring up something because of it. When I get home, I notice the picture frame I bought was completely shattered and broken (which was the item never rung up, and I never inspected since it was in a sealed box with bubble wrap), and the security sensor was still attached to the pair of slippers I got. Since I opted to have the receipt emailed to me, I didn't receive a copy until hours later. After calling the store, they told me they can look up the purchase via credit card, so I pack up everything and head back to the store, but a different location that is more convenient to my house. Turns out, the other location didn't even carry the picture frame so I couldn't exchange for one that wasn't broken. They were able to look up my purchase via my credit card information, confirmed the previous cashier messed up, refund me for the picture frame that I returned, and removed the security sensor. So, while super annoying and inconvenient, they ultimately fixed everything with the exception that I no longer could have the picture frame I wanted. Another annoying thing.. they don't have any gift boxes and the bags at the store are so large and flimsy it's hard to carry heavy items in for more than a few minutes. read more

Wow, this place is packed! I can't imagine what it's like during the holidays. They have a wide variety in...everything! If you're looking for designer sunglasses, they have plenty to choose from, and if you're a shoe person, theirs is one of the biggest selections I've ever seen at a Nordstrom Rack. AND they have top designer names that you might not find in other Nordstrom Racks. For instance I just had to try on almost all of the shoes in the "designer" section because who could resist a pair of Prada shoes, or Burberry, or LAMB, or even Jimmy Choos? Dresses are endless and the prices are pretty good! Lots of hair products and an array of purses. So much to look at, it's almost overwhelming, but if you don't snatch whatever it is that you're looking at, someone will. You could probably shop in here for hours with all the good prices in there. And if you are into designer names, great place to check out! read more

This location is not nearly as good as the northbrook location. It's awkward and too small to really properly maneuver, and they have a very small selection of their home section. Even though I didn't buy anything here, on my last trip through, I'm pretty sure I'll be back because the location is outstanding. Though remember that there are far better discount shopping options within walking distance of this place. read more

this location is pretty decent considering how picked over the selection ought to be. if you are able to go to the one in schaumburg i'd say that one is far better, but there are a lot of good finds here. the towels are fantastic. womens clothing and shoes have a very decent selection--lots of designer items in every size. the sleepwear selection is decent. loads of cute sunglasses and sometimes a cute purse. expect long lines after 5 pm and sometimes during the lunch hour. the men's selection is far more limited--if you're looking for a loud patterned shirt in a L/XL this is for you. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I placed an online order 5 days ago and when I checked the status it said 7 to 10 days to be shipped. This is the second time this has happen to me in the last month. I was able to get them to cancel the first time... Silly me I thought they would have their issues fixed by now (it has been 2 weeks since first order cancelled). When I talk to a rep I get the story how they are improving their fulfillment center to make shipping easier and faster. How long does it take? Nordstrom Rack just lost me as a customer. read more

I've had a mixed bag of experiences at this location. I sometimes find good James Pearse tops or tights. This week I tried on a Fleurette long coat that was quite nice and reduced from over $1K to $449. There was only one left and it was in my size but it had a dark spot on it. So, I stood in line for more than 10 minutes and then said to the clerk, "I like this coat but it has a spot." Her response: "So?" Seriously. As if it isn't bad enough that you're herded like cattle to stand in line but that's your version of customer service?? Anyway, I said, "Well, what can you do about it? Can you knock something off the price?" This is standard procedure almost anywhere. She said no, they never mark down but that she could call the tailor to see if they had anything to fix it. LSS, she called and no one even bothered to come and take a look at it, they just apparently told her over the phone that they couldn't fix it. So I didn't buy it. I mean, if they would have even taken $50 off, I would have bought it. But since Rack doesn't bargain, they ended up with no sale. Stupid! And the rude clerk doesn't help matters, either. I hate the line that they started. Really is much worse than the old way, too. read more

Great merchandise, pretty well organized considering the tremendous amount of merch they carry. I will say you have to sort through a tonnnnn of junk to find some gems (but that's true of any Nordstrom rack). And the mens side could certainly get some better selections like the women's. I normally love the "Rack" the best shoe prices in town. However, the last time I was in last week when checking out at their new kiosk the employees were not what I had experienced in the past.
