The second outpost of Nori Bar, located in the heart of Waikiki on busy Kuhio Ave, features an expanded space and expanded menu from their already popular Kaka'ako location. Clearly aimed at capturing foot traffic from the throngs of tourists, I was very pleased with the continued dedication to presenting excellent hand rolls with above average quality nori and authentic Japanese flavors. For example: Mentaiko with Yamaimo yam, or the Hokkaido Scallops with Yuzu Kosho. We visited for lunch and service was super fast and friendly, getting a table of 8 in and out under an hour. Portions are big! We've ordered their ToGo Bento's and I was surprised by the much larger portion you get. 3-4 per person will probably suffice the average appetite, especially if you order any appetizers.

My hubby and I came here for date night last night and it was exceptional. The restaurant was full, but they had open seating at the bar. We took it. I don't really like sitting at the bar, because we both don't drink. Thankfully, our bartender was really nice and we talked a bit. Jaimie was great. Go sit in her section. We were there for dinner, but I also wanted to know about breakfast. She told me that they were no longer serving breakfast and the restaurant now opens at 11am. She also told us about new items that the restaurant was serving. They're now doing maki rolls. They have a rainbow roll and a firecracker roll. My husband chose the firecracker roll $21. The roll was cut into eight pieces. Inside of the roll was spicy ahi and avocado. It was topped with maguro slices with crunchy flakes. It also came with spicy and kabayaki sauce. I got the kanimiso blue crab roll $9.50, yuzu Hokkaido scallop roll $7 and lychee soda $5. All of the seafood were fresh and firm. I tried a piece of the firecracker roll and it was delicious. The presentation was also stellar. It was bright and colorful. The hand rolls were on the smaller side, but also yummy. The kanimiso was rich and creamy; so good. The scallops were sweet. The only thing that was meh was the lychee soda. It didn't have any flavor at all and it wasn't sweet. It just tasted like carbonated water. Parking is at the Hyatt Centric Waikiki Beach Hotel. Enter on Seaside Ave. and turn right up the ramp. They validate for two hours of free parking.

    Will come back.

Loved this spot. Sat right at the sushi bar and watched everything get made fresh in front of us. The nigiri flight was the highlight, salmon, hamachi, and tuna all buttery and clearly high quality. The hand roll with that crispy nori was perfect. Service was warm and attentive without being over the top, and the whole experience felt personal. Great find in Waikiki. Will be back.

The best poke I have had in years, hands down. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was very impressed with my bowl! Definitely order the large, the portion is small in my opinion. This place is worth the wait & price point.

Solid 4 as this place recently opened a couple of months ago steps away from The Laylow Hotel on Kuhio. Since we had arrived earlier that morning we were pretty hungry and ordered poke bowls as well as a Nigiri Flight of 5 of their premium roll sets. All five were great but our favorite was the blue crab truffle spread. The limu ahi poke bowl pictured was a bit skimpy on the fish and felt they could have added more to round out the presentation of the dish. Still I highly recommend coming here as service was great despite the fact there were only 3 people working around 2:30 pm on a Monday.

Breakfast in Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawai'i... I was the third customer on their First Day of Business! I walked past the sidewalk sign and thought, "Hey... that Business Name sounds familiar, but the sign above still reads 'Ice Monster!'" I had to figure it out quickly... Welcome, Nori! I've been to the Kaka'ako location!!! I was drawn in by the receptionist. She was very welcoming and described the breakfast offerings... hmmm... sounds yummy! Okay! Sitting at the sushi bar, service was efficient and helpful. The breakfast menu was explained to me because it's not orderable via QR code. Most items are online, but customers may ask for the physical menu. The Salmon Ikura Breakfast Bowl was delicious! The fresh, moist Salmon was nicely flaked... so I didn't have to cut Salmon into bite-sized pieces! The miso soup wasn't too salty and I appreciated the sides of tamago and tsukemono! Chef also gave me some ginger slices for flavor additions! Overall, it was a great foodie adventure! I was thrilled with the purse hooks under the counter, the pleasant air-conditioning, beautiful wall mural, and the convenient restroom! Thank you - especially to all of the friendly staff - especially two managers who stopped by to chat! Wishing you much success!

This newly opened spot was right next to our Airbnb so we decided to pop in for dinner. I'm so glad we did! I think they had extra wait staff to help iron everything out but everyone was so attentive and incredibly nice. We had multiple servers stop by to ask if we were doing okay and it was enough to feel like they cared but not enough to get annoying. For our food we tried the sashimi sampler and got some hand rolls. Everything tasted incredibly fresh of high quality. The portions were a good size to feel full but not sick. Mocktails were light and refreshing. The vibe of the restaurant was cool, slick and modern. Great for a date night!

Wanted to try this new Nori Bar in Waiks since we live down the street. Overall it was pretty good. Ordered salmon, ahi, wagyu, and blue crab truffle. All were good but I must say, the blue crab truffle did not look appetizing at all. Just close your eyes and eat it and it will taste better than it looks LOL. The hamachi carpaccio was very thick like sashimi thickness. When I think of carpaccio, I think very thin slices. No Kama'aina discounts.

Tried Nori Bar and overall had a really good experience. Everything tasted super fresh and the quality of the fish was definitely noticeable. I got the yellowtail toro, uni, and salmon handrolls and honestly loved all of them. The uni especially was amazing! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the service was friendly throughout the meal. My only small caveat is that all of the handrolls came out at once, so by the time I got through them the seaweed lost some of its crispiness. I think spacing them out a little more would make the experience even better. Still definitely worth trying if you like fresh handrolls and quality seafood. I'd come back again for the uni alone.

This is a great new Waikiki sushi and Japanese restaurant. We sat at the bar. It was a very cool vibe. The staff were great to talk the sushi chefs as they made our food. All of the fish is stored wrapped now just sitting out. It was all very fresh. They have great Happy Hour food and drink specials. I highly recommend it.

This is a new location in Waikiki. We went three days after their opening and it was a good experience. Surprisingly it was very busy, although they did not have signage on the building and it still had the name of the previous business Ice monster. We had a reservation on OpenTable and therefore we were seated right away. Everything we ate was delicious, the hand rolls were freshly made with the seaweed very crisp. The grilled collar was cooked perfectly. I was absolutely delicious. Service was very friendly and prompt. It's a pretty big restaurant with lots of tables. Pretty nice vibe.

We had a great time enjoying happy hour at Nori Bar. Our server, Tommy was super friendly and helpful, our sushi chef Andrew was on top of things. We tried the happy hour cocktail, sake flight, hamachi carpaccio, tuna handroll and scallop handroll. Everything was yummy and fresh, and attention to detail impeccable.

We impressed by the amazing service and beautiful dinning area... even when you sitting at the counter it feel like a high end sushi place in Japan. The Garlic Ponzu Fatty Tuna was rich, buttery, and balanced perfectly by the ponzu. The Seared Yuzu Jalapeño Tai Snapper added just enough citrus and heat without overpowering the fish. My favorite of the night was probably the Aburi Kinmedai with Umami Oil & Lemon--the light sear brought out the natural sweetness of the fish while the lemon kept everything bright and refreshing. I also really enjoyed the Oil-Soy Tai Snapper with Fresh Salsa, which felt perfect for summer, and the Crispy Spicy Tuna Bites added a nice crunchy contrast to all the nigiri. What I appreciate most about Onodera is that even though it's conveyor-belt sushi, the quality consistently feels elevated. The fish is fresh, the flavors are thoughtfully balanced, and every plate looks as good as it tastes. The Summer Menu is available for a limited time through August 31, so if you're a sushi lover, it's worth making a visit before these seasonal specials disappear.

After walking around, the hostess asked if we had a reservation. I gave her my name, but she said we didn't have one, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. She then explained that our reservation was actually at their sister restaurant around the other side of the building. We went over there and found that it was primarily a sushi restaurant, which wasn't really what we were looking for. We had expected more of an izakaya-style experience, so we canceled the reservation and returned to the original restaurant. Once seated, the service was good and our server was attentive throughout the meal. One thing that was a little confusing was that sushi and sashimi had to be ordered from the sister restaurant, even though we were dining in the other restaurant. The food was brought over and served to us without any issues, and there were no problems with the bill, but it took us a while to understand how the two restaurants operated together. We ordered several dishes, including chicken skin wrapped gyoza, crab tempura, an assorted sashimi platter, a cream cheese and fish roe appetizer served with toast, an egg dish topped with fish roe, chicken karaage, and the miso butterfish. The highlights for me were the chicken karaage, miso butterfish, and gyoza. I enjoyed them enough to order another round of the gyoza and chicken. That said, many of the dishes leaned toward the sweeter side of Japanese cuisine, which just isn't my personal preference. If you enjoy those flavors, your experience may be different. Overall, the food was good, the service was solid, and there were a few standout dishes. The confusion with the reservation, entrance setup, and relationship between the two restaurants got the evening off to an awkward start, but the meal improved once we were seated. I'm not really a Japanese food person, so four stars is probably the highest rating I could realistically give a Japanese restaurant. With that in mind, I thought they did a good job, and there were a few dishes I would consider ordering again.

I was amazed at the beautiful platter of sushi that accompanied our sake and wine. My friends are the best hosts! I devoured the bombs, nigiris and rolls (in between sips!). Everything was simply delicious! Fast forward a few months, I order a couple sushi sets to host a poolside, golden-hour birthday get together at my other friend's home. (I know, you want to be part of this squad, right?!). Anyway, using the online order system is a snap! My hubby went in to pick up the sushi and said they were slammed but our sushi sets were ready to go. This time we ordered some ikura because the hubby and my bestie are big fans. Both agree it was fresh and fantastic! And the garlic set with the flash-seared fish and a hint of mayo is a MUST-try. We also ordered a California roll for my friend's aunt who is not really a sushi fan. She delighted in several pieces and even enjoyed the nigiri from the garlic set. Total convert! After enjoying the platters and sets, we had to try the bentos and bowls. This time it's just us and the pup at the park. The bentos provide a great variety and comes with miso soup. The hubby really likes the shrimp tempura with ahi and salmon nigiri and ahi poke. It's a steal at less than $20. I'm a bowl girl myself and like the spicy tempura. The tempura is cooked crisp yet tender. The spicy ahi poke combined with the creamy crab salad and the crunchy ocean salad delights all my tastes buds. It's truly an adventure in finding the perfect bite--and there are so many in this bowl! I also love the seared salmon bowl. It is melt-in-your-mouth goodness. I add the fried onions for some texture. You know a place is top-notch when you can feel confident that anything off their menu will satisfy your cravings. Because this is a Yelp review, here are some helpful tips. For sushi platters, pre-order. The online system is simple to use. Service is fast and efficient if you're just walking in for a quick bite or to grab something to go. Parking has always been easy for us to find in the small lot in the complex where Domo is located. It's right next to Assagio's Kahala. But if you're worried about parking, I suggest ordering in advance and then just picking up. This works great during peak dining hours. If you want fresh, delicious sushi that is reasonably priced be like us and visit Domo Café. You will probably also be like us and want to go back to try more.

This was my dinner day 1 of my trip back home. So delicious that I ordered again on the last…read moredinner of my trip! Spicy ahi bomb and Garlic salmon $18 - it's worth it for 8 quality pieces. The garlic salmon didn't have too much smokiness which I liked. They are not stingy when filling the inari with the spicy ahi. I did online ordering for easy pick up since the parking lot can be filled during dinner rush.
