Food never fails here! The hostess Destiny very sweet and Cisco the server was attentive and great even during busy time.

Came here with a special guest from out of town and we both had a taste for their awesome club sandwiches here. The one thing we agreed on was extra bacon-whereas we differed on the side. She opted for a baked potato whereas I went with a mini salad with ranch. The club sandwiches were divine, and they don't skip on the extra bacon. That's got to be one of my biggest pet peeves, if people want extra bacon, they want EXTRA. What's more, they must have an excellent refrigeration system here because their salads always come out super fresh. To summarize, the food is always fairly solid, as is the sheer volume of choices. What usually makes the difference with a solid experience as opposed to a "great one" is... At least in my humble opinion, who your server is. We lucked up and got Mr. Extraordinaire himself, veteran server Pablo-pictured. Always serving with a smile and at a level of energy that makes me jealous! Just a little late-night snack... nothing serious As usual, the food did not disappoint. I ordered the King's Hawaiian cheeseburger sliders and whew... I almost didn't share with my homegirl. Friendship was tested and passed I also got the Cajun chicken sandwich (no tomato, because boundaries). Washed it all down with some agua de jamaica -- and yes, unlimited refills, so you already know I was acting brand new. I love coming here for breakfast and dinner. This is one of the few places that serves liver and onions. And right now you can get all you can eat soup and salad week days only. The service is always fast and easy. My only complaint is the handicap parking is in the back of the building. Which to me doesn't make sense. Especially with the busy blvd you don't have a chance to drop off at the door. There is parking at the front entrance that should be handicapped. read more

Enjoyed my meal here last night. I ordered Huevos Rancheros, and was pleasantly surprised at how flavourful it was. Eggs were perfectly over easy, tortillas were crisp, and the red chile sauce was warmly spicy and complemented the dish well. I subbed hash browns for the Spanish rice and they were browned and crispy, albeit a little greasy. The portion looked enormous but I managed to polish it off. My friend ordered the Chef's Sampler platter and loved it. Fried shrimp, onion rings, chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks overflowed the platter. 4 sauces came with it and the house-made ranch dressing stood out - not too thick, it tasted fresh and herbaceous. I do appreciate them allowing me to modify my burrito. very nice of them to accommodate. The location seems a little outdated, but totally understandable. The food was so good. Came out quick. Ordered the Cali-Cado Benny and have absolutely NO regrets here. One of the best diners in LA! This location is definitely one of the better locations. I came here on a Saturday morning with my wife. It was packed with people, but we were immediately seated and assisted. The food came out quickly and we were in and out of there quickly. So why only a three star rating? For one, the food didn't taste that good. I ordered a T-bone steak breakfast. I asked for the steak to be served medium rare, but it came out well done. I know this isn't a high end steakhouse serving USDA prime steaks, but I expect the steak to be cooked relatively close to what I asked for. Additionally, the eggs were a little dry and the hash browns weren't crispy. For a place that specializes in breakfast items, I was a little disappointed with the quality. I've had better at Denny's. The other issue was that they initially didn't provide my wife mashed potatoes with her open faced turkey sandwich. My wife pointed this out to the server, but she claimed that my wife got fruit instead. My wife tried to explain that she ordered the fruit separately. In the end, she had to ask for the menu and show where it states that the mashed potatoes are included with this dish. One of the main reasons I like going to this Norms is the attentive and friendly service. This is what earns my patronage. The food is pretty good, not fantastic, but it's goof value for the price. I remember going to (a different) Norms for the first time in the 1960's for their $5 steak and eggs. They won me over back then. Whey have different steak and egg choices now, the $5 price is ancient history, but the steaks are pretty good. Back to he service, literally every time I dine here the waitresses teat me like a valuable customer. No, it's not my magnetic personality. It's really their attitude and training. First time! Of course, I was familiar with the place vis-a-vie Pulp Fiction movie but was surprised how good this 24/7 restaurant is! The menu is EXTENSIVE but INEXPENSIVE. We ordered a Patty Melt sandwich and Chicken Fried Steak platter. I got my Patty Melt with tater tots. Well, the Patty Melt was delivered on crisp and buttery rye bed with SUPER HOT and SUPER CRISP tater tots. Wonderful. My friend got the chicken dinner and loved it. We arrived on a Monday afternoon at 1 pm. There were about 10 customers in the restaurant at that time. I appeared to be the youngest. I am 80. The last time I was in this Norms, Obama was President. Nice to say it's been cleaned up and somewhat refurbished since then. The table was quite sticky, however. I ordered a Turkey and bacon club sandwich with a side salad and it's enough for two people. The salad had a dressing that tasted like Mayo and ketchup. In fact, everything had gobs of Mayo on it. Good? Not really, but if you're hungry enough I guess it'll do. But truthfully there are much better choices. I always love it when they put the salad on too tiny a plate, so that you end up eating it on the unwashed table. First class, for sure. When we left the restaurant we noticed an enormous '91 Buick Electra had parked next to us. The driver was fast asleep on the vast couch of a front seat. My eggs were cooked over-medium. Just the way I like them. Overall the experience was excellent. Your are better eating at Norms than paying for an overpriced McDonald' s breakfast. Tip, if you have a disability,the cooks will cut your meat for you. The waiter will open your sugar packets and your creamer for you, if you are not able to it yourself. I have found the staff here to be especially polite , attentive and cheerful . Especially Tony, Jordan , Maria,Jorge , and a couple others who's names escape my mind at the present moment. I love sitting at the U-shaped granite counter where one can spark up a group conversation with everyone or just the nice person next to you. The bathrooms are so so clean and smell super nice. My family and I decided to visit Norms since I grew up with this Norms location and felt like comfort food. The waitress was nice at first but wasn't clear with how their service ran. We asked for a NY steak (which we've had before in Carson) and asked for green beans and fries. They brought back something so small and thin. My daughter didn't even want to eat it. Then we asked for meatloaf and horrible gravy and salty. We weren't asked if we needed refills and I had to get multiple times for service. Horrible experience and will never go back. What made the night was the manager. She agree with us and saw our plates that were not touched and by the time she fixed the check and we were leaving then Carolina decided to say coffee. Although we went there late in the evening and this location is 24 hours, the staff should still be attentive to their guests. Upon entering, the server was so distracted playing on her phone, that she failed to see us standing there. We wanted to see how long it would take for her to realize people were waiting to be seated. Well, we waited so long that we had to get her attention. Can't go wrong with Norm's when you are jonesing for breakfast at dinner time. Halfway decent coffee (a bit bitter) and really good pancakes. I had the loaded hash browns but only the outsides were cooked to a golden brown. The addition of the green onion made all the difference. The eggs were just so so; bacon was crispy and not too greasy. Pancakes outshined all of the other food. Great service. Courteous and efficient (Carolina?) accurate and good on refills of coffee and ice tea. We were just happy to find a place that was open late on a Sunday. It's a diner..the seat and table were a little sticky but I cleaned it off with my water. Wasn't too busy so it was pretty quiet. We were hungry and Norm's breakfast did the trick! read more
