Went there for dinner last night. Ordered the large nachos with carne as an appetizer. They were neither large and were very greasy. I had two tacos for dinner. They were very small and also greasy. My wife had a surf and turf burrito, and it was O.K. The service was just terrible. We kept having to flag down somebody for water or drinks. Our waiter was behind the bar just yacking. This is probably because of the mandatory 20% tip, which is a bad idea. Never Again! read more

It is surprisingly difficult to find a place to eat after about 9 pm in this town. It seems that most kitchens close by 10 which is reasonable, however when you've flown in late you want some real food. Luckily we got to North County just in time to place an order before the kitchen closed. Yes, we were those people. The bartender was less than thrilled as I'm sure the kitchen was too. Anyhow, I really enjoyed the nachos. They were filling enough without adding meat for a significant up-charge. My friends really enjoyed the margaitas as well. I am rarely in the Lowry area, but this past Sunday we met my brother and his GF at North County. It has a Mexican and seafood based menu that is great! We ordered all sorts of things: Carne Asada Fries, tacos, nachos... We really enjoyed all of it. I liked all of it but the Pork Al Pastor Taco was a highlight for me. North County has a breakfast/brunch menu, a full bar and a small but excellent beer menu. Random thing: There is a map on the menu that shows the San Diego area. There was a typo... Here on business for a couple days and stumbled across this gem. The restaurant itself is pretty small but had a few spots at the ball since I was a solo. I started off with some chips and salsa... They were good, as the salsa was clearly pretty fresh and had a bit of spice, it hit the spot. The $5 price tag attached to them on the tab caught me a bit off guard. I had a mix of tacos, short rib, pork and brisket. They were all extremely good, but the short rib stuck out to me. It had a bit of spice mixed with the sweetness of the pineapple or whatever was mixed in. They also have a nice selection of beer available and a ton of tequila. Not sure I saw much other liquor than tequila but I'd assume they had the main ones for mixed drinks. read more

OK so it would appear that happy hour is this place's sweet spot as it turned my opinion around about 160 degrees. I had the much praised rock lobster taco, the meat was fried, so of course it was delicious. A bit of a cop out, but hey. My husband got the green chili which did have really good flavor. Fortunately their hot red sauce made everything better. We had the fundito which is the best I've had and that's including Machete and Pinche. My husband also got the pork taco which he said was dry. I'm not thinking pork is their forte. The huge winners were the drink prices and the coconut flan. The flan is made there (not sure where the other desserts are made) and it was effing delicious. The name of this place does not suggest that will be mexican cuisine. But hey, I love this place. I came here the other day because I get a kick out of happy hour specials. These place is located in Lowry. It is a nice location and their staff are super attentive and friendly. However, the best part are their food and drinks. I had their strawberry margarita and it certainly did its job!!! It was cute because it came with its own little cocktail shaker (enough for two glasses). The waitress who poured me my first glass asked if I was excited for it and I was. I was also very excited for their taco tuesday special which is a $1 off all tacos. My boyfriend and I ordered the da baby el pastor, mole braised short rib, and the rock lobster taco. Our favorite was the braised short rib. We also ordered chicken empanadas and carne asada fries. And oh my gosh, the carne asada fries were the best I ever had!!! I am actually craving it right now. I am definitely glad my boyfriend found this place...its amazing and won't disappoint. read more

My boyfriend and I moved to CO for a couple months for his work and found this gem when we had visitors. After that, we took everyone we knew to this place! Their apps are great especially the queso fundido. I wanted to try their mussels but they were out every time we came in. We've had every taco on the menu and they're all great. Lobster taco definitely stole my heart though! Their cocktails are super cute too.. they shake margaritas in mini shakers which I thought was adorable! Stopped in for Lunch having not tried the place before. I am a taco fan, how can you not when tacos are everywhere in Denver, so I have allot to compare them too. I was very pleased with the whole experience and my taco selection. They have an assortment of fish to choose from daily, plus every other type of meat on a tortilla you could want! The fish was delicious but the star for me was the Duck (not sure the exact name). It was flavorful and had incredible toppings. All the tacos were very filling and the best part...the tortilla was built to withstand the weight of all the deliciousness (I hate when they break in half mid bite). Atmosphere was chill and comfortable and the outdoor patio has misters to enjoy the outside on a hot day. They also had a decent Margarita which was served in a shaker which always adds a little theatrical measure to getting your drink! read more

We loved our experience at North County. We have been in Denver for 1 week, and have gone to basically all the recommended restaurants, and this was by far the best. The service was spectacular. Our waitress was Molly, who was so engaging and personable, and took the time to make recommendations for area activities and food. Woo hoo! New favorite patio in town! Trying out the alcoholic sodas tonight, I got the cucumber lime margarita. Yee haw it was delicious! The queso fundido is great, and charbroiled oysters are awesome, but they sometimes run out of them! Lots of Mexican food besides seafood if you're not into it. But great seafood selection for Denver! And my husband and I are seafood fanatics just returning from the East Coast. The only downside is it is a little pricy and the music can be too loud. Check it out before it becomes too popular, I can imagine the line starting to get pretty long for the patio! read more

Made a reservation for an inside table since it was cold outside. Arrived at 5pm and they only had a booth and that booth was tight (I need to go on a diet). Ordered the enchiladas and they were hard as a rock. Could not cut through them. Sent them back and got a new order of enchiladas and... still hard. Service was rude about the situation. Hard to get ahold of the server. Management was rude when showing them what I was talking about saying "I don't need a demonstration." Like, I'm just showing you. Whatever. Glad to see they survived COVID and a management change. I enjoy the food and the GF options tremendously, but hope they are able to rise back to the standards they set a few years back. I used to get food there that would be shockingly good on the first bite. I haven't gotten that in a while. I eat the jicama tacos so I can avoid the corn and wheat tortillas. NC had the cleanest food in my rotation. It seems to have slipped. Regardless the place is mobbed. You can't just walk in for Taco Tuesday anymore. read more

Interesting place - their style of Mexican food was--IIRC mission style? In any event, pretty good - it was a turn off many of the entrees were ala carte for rice and beans - their salsa was outstanding though and steak enchiladas had a lot of flavor with generous portions of meat!! It's so nice to finally see Lowry developing into a bit more communal and active space. North County is pretty new and I've been four or five times. It's got a really cute interior, a nice patio and friendly enough staff. I love the handmade sodas, especially the spicy one Drunken Burro. I will say the menu itself, is altogether pretty spicy. So, be careful what you order so there is some diversity. The churros come with delicious hot chocolate and is beautifully displayed. Overall, certainly a place worth visiting in Hangar 2 read more

Food and drinks were good and service as well. However, the reason for only three stars? The new 20% service charge policy. It's just a price increase and very little goes to the server. There isn't even a place to leave a tip. This will cause more turnover and unhappiness around staff. Please consider eliminating this policy. read more

Always comfortable, lots of parking, two outdoor patios in addition to pleasant indoor dining area. Fish tacos are excellent, chips, salsa, avocado, nice way to start things off. Chicken asada salad is a fine way to have a light lunch or to share with another whose having an entree. Their beer selection is all Mexican and frankly, living here in Colorado, I found that quite limited. Their beer battered fish tacos are very tasty from what I've heard from friends, especially when you add some of their crema sauce and a touch of hot sauce too. Lots of food and not enough room for desserts, perhaps another time. Enjoy your time here and btw, they allow dogs on the patio but they need to behave well. read more

They changed their menu 2 weeks ago. Kept the same prices and serving less food. 3 taco plate used to include rice & beans. Now the same price but no rice and beans. We moved into a place just a few blocks away about a year ago and the food was great then. They recently took several items off the menu that were my favorites, so that was disappointing. I'm allergic to gluten so I would eat here twice or more a week. Now I can only order their enchiladas or tacos. Unfortunately their tacos aren't good. The cauliflower tacos are flavorless so stay well away from them. Their lobster tacos used to be great, but now they are overcooked and tough to eat. I couldn't even get my knife through the lobster last time so only made it through one taco. Got home and an hour later was sick for the rest of the night. I'm assuming the lobster was spoiled or left under lamps for entirely too long. I'm so upset I can't eat here anymore because they were genuinely great up until they changed their menu last month. read more

absolutely the worst experience. I don't know who the chef is, but he can't cook. He couldn't even make a plain eggs Benedict. My eggs came literally hard boiled. sad for the waitresses because they had to take on the brunt of how horrible the food was. my son had a burrito and I didn't have the right ingredients in it. North County is one of my favorite restaurants around here! I first heard about this place because one of my friends came to visit and accidentally found it. He told me that the food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. He was absolutely right! The soft tacos are so good! I tried all the vegetarian ones and I have nothing bad to say about them. And the best part is: if you hit the place up on Taco Tuesdays, you can get tacos for $1! They also have all kinds of good deals during happy hour. Another nice thing is that the owner is there all the time checking on how we're doing. The location is very convenient and the atmosphere is awesome. First thing I noticed about North County: the swanky interior and exterior design of the restaurant, which can also accommodate large groups. It made the overall experience very enjoyable. The appetizers were fantastic, I especially loved the thickness and crunch of their chips. I could probably finish an entire order of their nachos by myself, that's how good they are.I ordered a pulled pork torta which was gigantic. It came with a pot of "jus", which more like green chile than jus. But since the sandwich itself already had so much going on, I just left the jus aside. The food was on the pricey side though, and this may be on account of their fresh ingredients and all-things-homemade mission. But $4-6 per taco seems very expensive, especially because taco carts sell them for around $1.25 a pop. Everything else from the menu is pretty affordable though. Here on vacation visiting my parents we went to the Wings Over The Rockies museum and when we asked at the museum for food recommendations they pointed us to North County restaurant. We were greeted when we came in and were introduced to the menu as "first timers". We chuckled to ourselves when the waitress told us they were Baja California inspired cuisine being from San Diego. And absolutely smiled when we put two and two together and realized we must be in for either a treat of home food or disappointed as I was born and raised in North a Count San Diego. We were not disappointed. You order tacos al la carte here and there are some great selections. I ended up with two of their vegetarian options and a spicy chorizo. Each was very delicious and on home made corn tortillas. The owner here either grew up in North County or has spent some significant time there. My dad had the daily specials of Poke and Wahoo fish and enjoyed them very much. My mom got the guajillo Cesar salad with chicken. It was bigger than she anticipated but was also very good. Word of warning, dad and I are big hot sauce fans...their red sauce blew our palates it was so hot. So be prepared. Good, but hot! If we were in the area again I might come here. If I lived here it would probably be a frequent stop. It's a very trendy place so the prices are a bit steep if you are prepared to pay $4+ for a street taco, but how filled with yumminess they are worth it. read more

Came in yesterday for dinner and the hostess was just the nicest human ever! She quickly sat my boyfriend, myself, and pup on the patio and brought him a water bowl. Brian was our server and he was great. Very knowledgable of all the menu items. Go for happy hour, otherwise you will easily spend $100 if you are really hungry. The boozy sodas are great but a lil sweet for my taste. The traditional fried fish tacos with the mango and papaya salsa is to die for. I wish i had gotten all my tacos with just fish! The chesapeake bay oysters were huge, but not really briny like were use to. Also, I found it odd how little the bussers actually bussed our table, we had lots of empty plates on glasses on our table and only 1 busier ever came by and of all the plates, he only picked up one, a completely empty white plate, kinda lame. SO SO SO GOOD! A few friends and I decided to venture out for dinner and drinks and had heard good things about North County so we made our way over on Saturday night and it was 100% worth it!!! First - they were really busy. We did get there during the dinner rush but we only had to wait about 20 minutes and we did so at the bar which was more than okay with us. They have a great patio but the weather wasn't really cooperating so we decided to dine in. Despite being slammed, the hostess was incredibly polite and apologetic for the wait. After we were seated, our server Suzy was by our table immediately and made some recommendations for appetizers and she nailed it! We had the queso fundido (and while this comes with tortilla chips, I asked for some flour tortillas too and it was a perfect combination). She also recommended the Carne Asada fries - yes, you're reading that right and they were AMAZING (this was definitely my favorite app). Steak cut fries covered in steak and queso - how can you go wrong? You can't. And as a last minute add-on, my friend got the duck quesadilla - unfortunately, I didn't get to eat much of this as I found it a bit too spicey but if you have read any of my other reviews, I am a complete baby when it comes to spice so this could have just been me BUT both of my friends who ate it (and loved it) had very red faces, so I am pretty sure it was just spicey. While we waited for the apps to come out, we decided to try a few of their alcohol infused sodas which are made in-house. I had a strawberry lemonade one and it was delicious!!! They had about 5 different ones to choose from. Again, our awesome waitress Suzy made some taco recommendations to include the Chicken Tinga and their famous fish tacos. All of which were SO SO good! They are smaller, of course, so I recommend at least 2 per person (if of course you dont gorge yourself on apps to start like we did but I would recommend doing that too because did I mention the fries?!?!) The two stars are definitely not for the quality of food of ticket times. The food was great and we loved the ambiance. The 2 stars are for the service experience. We came in (3 of us) when it was completely empty on a Sunday afternoon. The host was friendly and it seemed like all of the other girls serving around us were friendly but we unfortunately had the bad luck of getting the bartender with the low ponytail. Have to use this description because he never told us his name. He never smiled, asked if we had questions, didn't"t pre-bus the table or even bus the table at all. We sat there multiple times with empty drinks. It was almost as if his job serving us was painful. I work in the service industry so I get that we all have bad days but boy this guys was having an awful day. He made us all feel unwelcome and uncomfortable for the 2 hours we were there. Not to mention when we got our bills, we had an auto-grat of 21%. I almost always tip 25-30% but this time I probably would have tipped only 18% because of the terrible terrible service. I will definitely be back but not if the ponytail guy is taking care of me. 5 stars on the food though, just unhappy with the way I was treated and then required to tip 21%. read more

my co-worker picked this spot, which i have to admit i didn't even know existed.... set back in what used to be lowry AFB..... but man, i wish i would have known about this place sooner! I'd probably eat here at least once a week! i'm a taco fiend! (before you recommend any support groups, i'm not interested. my friends have tried..... i am HAPPY to TACO 'bout my addiction.... i love tacos!!) i got the chorizo and potato taco and a fish taco..... and brought the carmelized cauliflower taco, the queso a la plancha and a california burrito home to the fam.... everything was excellent! from the huge chunks of avocado in the guacamole, to the house made salsa...their verde sauce is so good it's drinkable!!! like i kinda wanna go back for dinner! North county is hands down one of the BEST Mexican restaurants I've been too. I love Mexican food and eat it quite often. Their tacos are amazing and they have the most amazing costumer service. I personally enjoy their carné asada fries and their octopus taco! Their chili is great! They load up their tacos and bowls! They have great drink options (alcohol included) and te very kid friendly! Wow! This place is amazing! Went on Sunday evening and we were seated right away. It was fairly busy. It was raining so we did get to sit on the porch, but it looked nice, dog friendly too. We ordered the Queso Fundido and two beers. The beer came only a few minutes later and the Queso a few minutes after that. The Queso was sizzling in a cast iron pan. There were chips and a tortilla to eat it with. The chips were thick and Queso was amazing. About half way through we ordered the nachos with chicken. The nachos came and were huge! The chicken was juicy, the chips were crispy, and the cheese was goey. There was guacamole, black beans, black olives, and jalapeños on them too. They were layered so you never ran out of toppings for the chips. After the nachos we were stuffed. Our server was attentive and very nice. I would highly recommend this place! I can't wait to go back and try the tacos. You have my seal of approval! read more

Went to this place after the air museum. I would highly recommend the tacos! El pastor and Short rib were out of this world, brisket was spicy and not as enjoyable. Handmade corn tortillas were delicious. Nachos were good but not enough nacho cheese and could have done without the olives. We sat on the patio on a gorgeous night!
