Came by here for a special treat lunch with my girlfriend. For starters the ambiance is great, the restaurant is very new and it looks so good! They have a huge bar and the inside out concept is perfect (especially once it starts to cool down). I'm not sure if they have a happy hour but this would be a great happy hour spot if so... we started with the white truffle garlic bread. It was so good it felt gluttonous! The truffle was subtle enough to add a boost of flavor without being too overpowering, the ricotta also had good flavor. My only wish would be for the bread to be a little bit warmer... otherwise excellent flavor. I got the Pig pizza which is basically the meat lovers. The pizza itself was very good I have no complaints about it. It is in the California style pizza (think California pizza kitchen with way better ingredients). The meat was very flavorful and the sauce was great... it's not often I notice the sauce. Overall a great pizza and compared to many other places the price felt fair for what you get. The chicken parmigiana verde was very good. All of the components added flavor without becoming too much, leading to a symphony of flavor that seemingly had a conductor to keep everyone on the same note. My biggest complaint for this place is the price... it's not cheap... but as we all know high quality ingredients aren't cheap (hate grocery shopping) and as a from scratch kitchen I was very happy with the taste and quality. She took our drink orders we ordered the Zucca chips, then the truffle garlic bread. It was delicious. then we ordered our entrées. Mine was braised short ribs Marsala, I also had the simple salad, which was excellent. it was in our party for spicy rigatoni chicken Parmesan. Margarita, pizza, and Italian cob salad. So we had multiple appetizers, zucca chips, focaccia with whipped ricotta, meatballs, grilled artichoke, fried calamari, and arancini. Also ordered the fig and prosciutto pizza, squid ink pizza and chicken Parmesan entree. Overall, we enjoyed the food. The delivery of food was uneven as some appetizers came out quickly and the entree came out as well. Pizza and pasta came out afterwards. Finally, the grilled artichoke and zucca chips came out last. All the food that came out was well executed and seasoned well. Squid ink pasta was good definitely tasted the fresh pasta and the seafood added a nice sweetness contradicting the Calabrian chilis. The focaccia bread was crunchy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. The whipped ricotta brought a sweetness as well as the oil and balsamic dip did; but the ricotta offered a creaminess. Grilled artichoke had a hint of smokiness from the grill and accompanied well with the lemon aioli and fresh lemon. Meatballs were tender and was placed on a layer of ricotta and polenta- very good. The calamari was lightly fried and good. The aracini was salty and was dissatisfying. The pizza was different but very enjoyable especially the sweetness from the fig and the saltiness of the prosciutto was a nice pair. The chicken Parmesan was well fried and the Alfredo pasta that accompanied was well out as the citrus from the marinade sauce of the chicken and creaminess of the Alfredo sauce unintentionally created another sauce. Service was very good and attentive. The aperol spritz was fruity: needs more alcohol. Over all, a very good experience and will return. It would be best to make reservations as we waited about ten minutes for our table to be ready. The restaurant felt airy and the window into the kitchen was extremely open. However only take back is the shrimp scampi was either forgot about it or got sent to wrong table but it came out after we finished the main entrees. Came in for lunch with my mom and daughters and waited about 10 mins for a table outside. We had a nice waiter, Dream, who helped us with our meal, however, meal service was very slow. We waited about 10 mins after being seated for our drink order and then another 10 before ordering our food. We then waited about 30 mins for a grilled steak panzanella salad, a caprese sandwich and kids Alfredo noodles to come out. Must be ironing a few kinks. I absolutely love North Italia at the Brea Mall - great food selections, affordable lunch menu, incredible service, comfortable atmosphere, and overall a very enjoyable dining experience. My wife ordered the Hot Honey Prisciutto Pizza, which was excellent. I had the Braised Beef Dip, and the flavor was just crazy good! We totally enjoyed every bite of it! We couldn't finish the pizza so we asked for a box to take it to go. However, we forgot to take the box with us and just left it at our table. Since we went to the mall next door after we ate, I called and asked if they kept the to-go box for us so we can just swing by and pick it up. They indicated most likely it was already thrown out but they'll check just to be sure. I was on hold for a few minutes and then the general manager came on the call and told us they'll make a brand new pizza for us since they already threw it away. We were totally surprised since it wasn't their fault that I forgot to take the to-go box with me. We went back an hour later and picked up the whole pizza that they prepared for us. very happy this place opened. bcos it was still new, they didn't fully seat to full capacity. inside was fairly decent size. you had the option to sit outside as well. our server provided great service. it didn't hurt we sat next to the paying counter either. we wanted carbs so we all ordered pastas, and beef carpaccio. 1) we had squid ink tonnarelli. quite pricey but I couldn't hate it too much bcos it was yummy. the shrimp tasted great. good texture. 2) trottole chicken pesto. there were garlic and basil inside. what else did you need. 3) Bolognese. delish but this might be a bit overpriced since there's no true protein in it. 4) Strozzapreti. I ordered it mainly for the 'truffle' but I didn't taste that at all. however the dish was still flavorful. every pasta dish was delicious. we ordered couple desserts: tiramisu (very good but you could prob get that fm elsewhere for half the price). So glad they brought North Italia to Brea!! In the beautiful new wing of the mall. Interior is so pretty with a modern, rustic feel with lots of plants and open space. Love the big windows all around, perf for the food shots! Everything we ordered was really good. Our waitress was super friendly and on top of it. They just opened so there were so many worker bees! We have been to North Italia twice now and have loved each time. Our first visit was for brunch. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the people watching. Our server was awesome and he gave us insight on menu items we had questions about. I had the sessional vegetable salad and was pleasantly surprised! It was seasoned well and had toasty breadcrumbs that gave it a nice crunch. Our second visit was for dinner and it was enjoyed by our friends, as well. We made a reservation through OpenTable and got seated without much issue. Nick was our server and he was great the whole time. You could tell he was working hard and juggling a lot of tables, but he stayed attentive, checked in often, and kept things moving. Definitely earned his tip. We started with the shrimp scampi appetizer, which disappeared pretty quickly at the table. Ordered The Pig pizza, the bolognese, and another pasta dish I can't remember the name of, but honestly everything was delicious. The pizza had a really nice crust and good flavor from the meats, and the bolognese was rich and comforting. For being brand new and dealing with a busy holiday crowd, the experience was smooth and the food came out consistently good. So excited to see North Italia in North OC. I've been going to the one in Irvine for years and it's been a favorite of mine for awhile. The bolognese is my personal go to but I do miss the skinnier noodles they used to use, or that's what I recall at least. The seasonal vegetable salad was also surprisingly good. The Hugo spritz is also way tastier than an aperol spritz in my person opinion so give it a try. Service is consistent here, even with it being a new location so appreciated the attentiveness. The ambiance was easily a 10/10, the food was decent, and once we were seated, the service was great. We ordered the calamari appetizer, one spritz, one mule, one pizza, and one pasta, which came out to a little over $100. That said, the check-in experience was unnecessarily awkward and honestly made me question whether the person stationed at the front had been properly trained on what the role actually entails. When I walked in, I made direct eye contact with the young lady at the check-in desk. She didn't greet me or acknowledge me in any way, so naturally, I turned to the next person I assumed worked there. She then directed me right back to the same young lady I had initially made eye contact with. Once we finally got checked in and seated, everything else went smoothly. It's just surprising that such a simple first point of contact could be handled so poorly. A basic greeting and acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Saturday 12:30pm and the mall parking lot was crazy. We were hungry and the dumplings place required reservations only. We walked over to North Italia and the wait was 45 min inside or 15 for patio or no wait at the bar with full service menu. We choose to sit at the bar looking out to the street. It was a warm day. The bar was inside and had AC and opens to the outside. We shared a prosciutto and fig pizza. It was good size, 6 slices for a small lunch. My husband had some alcoholic punch and it was good. Totally bill for drinks and pizza tax and tip was $54. We really enjoyed having a seat available to grab a quick bite. My visit was just a quick happy hour reconnaissance visit but the entire bar staff including my server Helena were very friendly and pleasant! The open layout of both the bar area and main dining area was very fresh and welcoming. I had waited for months for this location to open in the newly expanded outdoor area of the Brea Mall. So grateful to come here for the soft opening! Service from Alex was so incredibly welcoming and accommodating as he was very patient and helped talk us through their menu. The garlic truffle cheese bread was phenomenal, and better than ini ristorante's. We also got the hot honey & prosciutto pizza which was phenomenal and well-paired. 3.5 Stars maybe. A lot of buzz surrounding this spot over at the Brea Mall etc. The optics from the outside are very inviting I'll say that. As predicted, parking is challenging unless you want to pay for valet parking (no thanks). Inside is not as flashy as the outside in all fairness. Its still nice, new. A couple things that happened in our outing worth noting. 'Sunday Lasagna' was not available. Little disappointing especially if that is your signature plate.... probably a good idea to make sure that is available more often than not. Nice, fast talking waitress...'Claire' - Do you have Bluemoon? No, we have Mango Cart, Ok I will take that. At this type of a place Im expecting this to be on TAP... Claire comes by with a CAN and a mug. For $9.00 my expectations are higher than that. Food takes little longer than expected to arrive... I ordered Chicken Parm and wife had Trottlole Chicken Presto... Claire asks if we would like some Bread while we wait... I am assuming that the bread is complimentary... she makes no mention of a charge. Bread arrives, its good. / Overall my plate was Average. Wife liked hers more than I did. Keep in mind we are talking about a $30.00 Plate of food here. I simply didnt think the price matched the quality or the amount of food. Bill arrives... come to find we were charged for the bread. Total cost was a $100.21. So 2 drinks, 2 plates and bread. The final kicker was how the bill is soliciting a 'Tip' in which it is based off of the Total (with tax ?) which started at 18%. I did not leave an '18%' tip - I left what I thought was fair and reasonable. Since when do we now tip on a total that includes tax? Nice place but a bit too expensive for what this is. read more

We really wanted to love this restaurant because it has so much going for it. The restaurant is beautiful, the location is great, and the bar area has a wonderful atmosphere that makes it a perfect place to unwind after work. Our first visit during the grand opening was outstanding. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and we left excited to come back. Unfortunately, our next two visits weren't nearly as good. On one visit, our meatballs and garlic bread arrived cold. We sent them back twice, but they still weren't served hot. The manager apologized and removed them from our bill, which we appreciated. We decided to give the restaurant another chance because we really enjoy the atmosphere. This visit, our sliders were delicious but only lukewarm, our fries never arrived, and our second round of drinks took about 20 minutes even though the bartenders were making drinks right in front of us. We finally received them after asking a second bartender. This restaurant has so much potential, and we're hoping these are simply growing pains. The food is flavorful, but the kitchen needs to improve the timing and temperature of the food, and the service needs to become more consistent. We'd love to become regular customers, and we truly hope to see this restaurant live up to the excellent first impression it made. read more

First of all checking in wasn't the most seamless experience. Front was crowded and you had to figure out where the line ended and waited a bit before getting greeted. Afterwards was only up hill!
