It's been a while...about 5 years since I've been here. Prices, on average are up about $5 per item (plates, salad, soup, specials) The food is really good, and tastes homemade. The ladies working are super nice and attentive to our order. You can eat there, and the rear dining room is open again, since the front area only has three 4-tops. This time around I got the enchilada (chicken) and a soft taco (carnitas). Tacos had a slight citrus taste (good thing) and the enchilada was stuffed with shredded chicken. Sauce reminded me of the "old" taco bell enchirito sauce (another good thing) Friend with me got 3 chicken tacos, and he had no complaints. Total was about $30. read more

I was on my way back to Orange County after dropping off a passenger in Brea. I asked Siri to direct me to a good Mexican restaurant and La Rubia was one of the suggestions on my route. As I drove in I thought I might have been in the wrong place because of the run down industrial surroundings but it was indeed their location. Despite the location the place was clean and well maintained. The bathroom was also well maintained and not smelly and full of graffiti like some of the other restaurants in the general area. I asked the nice lady if they had sopes and she said that they do and suggested that I have two because of their size. Once my food was brought to my table each bite of the sopes was filled with a blast to the past when I used to enjoy the sopes my Mother made. The red salsa is what I recommend topping the sopes with and a nice horchata is also a great addition to this wonderful meal. I was very excited to try this place regardless of some of the bad reviews.I called them up ordered a burrito and a can coke, it was $17 which isn't too crazy these days.Service was ok bc once I got there food was ready.I started picking up my burrito and I wish I was exaggerating but there was a whole lot of oil dripping out of the burrito to a point my clothes even got oiled up.I am very upset and will not be coming back! read more

This place may not be the most "prestigiously clean" or updated, but the staff is super friendly and the food is authentically delicious. Well this is a hard one. I wasn't a fan but my husband sure was. Go figure! Once you get passed that the location is in an old worn down industrial park the service was prompt and courteous. Most people ordered to go and lots of regulars. As for the food I played it safe with 2 chicken tacos rice/bean plate. The rice was tasty but unless you are a fan of lots of greasy cherizo in your beans (color of refried beans were orange) it's not for you. The quantity was good but I couldn't figure out what was up with chopped taco chicken until I realized that it tasted like something I may have warmed up twice at home that changes the flavor. As for my husband's food (chile rellenos n carne asada taco plate) it must have been delicious because he never came up for air! This place is tucked away in an Industrial part of the area. It is literally around the corner from my work (long blocks, yes, but it's around the corner). I'd passed it several times coming into the office, so I decided to try it. The place looks super tiny when you walk in, until you realize that there is a dining room in the back as well. They have your typical Mexican fare, plus they have beer, which is nice as well! Clean environment and fast service make this worthwhile. I've eaten here several times, and every time was pleasant, and I came out satisfied and comfortably full. The portions are a good size, the flavors are great, and the staff is nice. I've liked everything I've had. I didn't see a parking lot dedicated to this place (there may be one in the back, but I can't be sure), so find street parking. It's across the street from a big refrigerated food warehouse, so there's a steady traffic of big rigs around here. I think they also cater, so this may be good for you if you're a business in the area. read more

I want to give this place 5 stars, but I just can't because... well... it's a truck-stop type of place. If you weren't going to one of the factories around there or any of the business park places, you would never know that it was there. They have authentic Mexican food and, surprisingly, good quality meat. I opted to try the Alambre. This, of course, was only after asking what was in it because the menu, which is in Spanish and English said, "ALAMBRE- Alambre." Yeah, that was helpful. Anyhow, the waitress kindly explained that it was strips of carne asada, bacon, bell peppers, and onions, all topped with cheese. Their entrees come with rice, beans, and a small salad. Since I'm a fatty, I opted for no salad and to add an egg on top. I'm glad that I did. The meal was very flavorful. The egg just added a nice creaminess to it all. My husband had the Bistec Ranchera, which he said was very tasty. He had a Mexican Coke and I had a Diet Coke. (I mean, I added an egg so I had to cut calories somewhere.) Our total was $25. They appear to be open late most days, except Saturdays when they close early. We will definitely be back. read more

We've had catering from La Rubia to our work place 5 times since I started working for my company. I have to say their service is always on point, and they are there on time if not earlier. Everyone likes tacos, like come on, who doesn't? And they bring everything for you. Including a fruit drink of your choice. Salsa, cilantro, sour cream, rice, beans, chips, everything you name it, and they bring it! I would recommend La Rubia for your catering needs. And they are only $350 for everything. Great little hidden gem and bonus for us is that it's right across the street from where we deliver! The staff in here is very nice and service was fast. Even if I had to wait a bit the food would have been worth the wait. If dining here or taking out don't forget to tip the staff here if your happy with the service. I used to be a restaurant manager and it was hard dealing with many different types of personalities all day, working long hours and not getting tips all day for your staff is hard especially when most employees survive off of the tips they receive. Little confused as to why this place was rated so highly. I've had my fair share of Mexican food in the Bay Area, SoCal, Midwest, NY, and this place was okay. It's a hole in the wall for sure, the hostess/waitress is nice, but the food just wasn't as complex as I had expected. We ordered the wet burrito with marinated pork (came with rice and beans), the fish soup, three tacos, and enchiladas plate (came with rice and beans). With the burrito and enchilada plate, the focus was put on the sauce and the cheese to impart flavor rather than the meat or all the other important ingredients on the plate. Additionally, the refried beans were runny and didn't have much flavor to them, didn't really taste homemade. The rice was pretty bland and a bit hard, so considering the quality of food I wasn't impressed with the value/prices. I'm not familiar with the area but saw a LOT of Mexican options on my Yelp app while driving in the area - I'll probably try a new place before returning to La Rubia. read more
