Don't judge a book by its cover! The outside could use a little work, but the food, presentation, quality, and flavor were all outstanding. As soon as we sat down, our server brought out five different salsas along with a delicious bean dip! The food arrived beautifully presented on traditional Mexican style plates, complete with fresh garnishes that made everything look even more appetizing. Our server, Lourdes, was incredibly friendly and attentive. She answered all of our questions and shared how proud she is of the restaurant and its food, which made the experience even more enjoyable. If you are looking for chilaquiles like I was this morning, this is NOT the spot! I rarely write reviews but I know I looked at previous reviews and was seriously misled. The chilaquiles looked great. They were decorated with garnish but as soon as you bit- argh disappointing. :/// The chef is heavy-handed with salt, the red sauce that was supposed to be "spicy" tasted like salty tomato paste. Sauce had no flavor :/ The worst thing was that they were swimming in sauce that made the chilaquiles soggy. The kiss of death. Chilaquiles are supposed to be crunchy not soggy. If they were crispy when they were made they were killed by the sauce flood. My hubby had the burrito & said it was ok. My husband and I just had our very first meal at Taqueria Los Comadres #1, and let me tell you... it will NOT be our last! We're in town on a business trip, and I have a feeling this is about to become our nightly dinner spot. The food was absolutely delicious--fresh, flavorful, and everything you want when you're craving amazing Mexican food. But what really made the experience special was our sweet server, Louroles. She was such a delight! So friendly, welcoming, and she even surprised us with a few extras just because I'm "sweet"... LOL! That kind of genuine kindness is something you don't forget. First of all the service was AMAZING! We came with two small children and my 2 year old refuse to eat and one of the workers asked if she could give my kids candy. Loved that she asked first. Good service, good food, fair prices. Overall, I can't complain! Taqueria Las Comadres leans more restaurant quality than fast food in my opinion. The menu is large enough you can get lost in it especially if you're not familiar with the Spanish names of the entrees. The presentation of the dishes were fantastic. They definitely take pride in what they serve. We had the super fries with steak and chilaquiles with steak. Nothing to complain about really. This place is quite small but the vibes are there. Parking is limited since it's located in a small plaza strip, but I haven't had issues finding parking so far. I've came here on several occasions throughout the years, and never had I encountered any issues. The service is always great and the food is too. They give out chips and salsa before bringing out your food. Side note: The agua fresca was a dollar more on the menu but I suppose it's to cover the cost of the cup it comes in, since you get to take that home with you. I've passed by this street countless times but never thought to stop by -- what a miss that would've been! I tried the wet burrito, and it was such a unique and tasty experience. First impression reminded us of a restaurant in Mexico that we have been to before. Very authentic with everything from the beautiful and colorful plates and the latino music. We ordered the rib eye tacos and they were spectacular, super tender and flavorful. Loved the homemade corn tortillas. My wife had the menudo and she said it was among one of the best she has tasted. Our server Lourdes was very friendly and attentive. Everyone was super friendly in welcoming us as soon as we came in and thanking us on the way out. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the food but the plates were very beautiful and food nicely presented. The only negative is that they did not have fountain drinks, only cans and bottles, but then again, that is very common in Mexico when we ate at small restaurants. Thick red caldito de chile rojo, meat is very clean, not overcooked to wobble on your spoon and not undercooked to where your chewing like rubber . Muy perro el menudo. I waited for almost five minutes to be helped, when finally someone from the back came forward while eating. I made a purchase and asked for the restroom key-the woman at the front said I couldn't use the restroom because it was broken. There was no sign when I checked. I asked for a refund so I could make a purchase elsewhere because I needed a restroom and she said because the owner wasn't there? When I asked for the manager she said she was. The food here is good I really like the breakfast burritos and they have a great salsa bar but the service could use improvement. It's now happened twice that I've left with something completely different that what I ordered. This morning I came in after working an all nighter and ordered a bacon breakfast burrito. The man at the register even clarified which kind I wanted but when I got home I saw that I had gotten a bean and rice burrito. I don't know how this would have even happened because the guy clarified which type of burrito I wanted and I was the only person in there at the time. This place is a hole in the wall. Not very big but the rotation of people coming in and out all day long is timely and there is always a table to sit and eat at. I've tried about half of the menu and everything is truly delicious! I ate here 2 times this week and it never disappoints! Come on the weekend and have the menudo, it's to die for and they also have the pata (pigs foot) available for those who like it. It is family owned. I have never judged a place poorly for its humility, and I'm always willing to try something new. With this adventurous spirit, I came to this place. You are warmly greeted, they serve you a small bowl of chips and a little serving of beans and cheese instead of salsa. The may have a side bar with different salsas for self serve. I was excited, but the beans were bland. Definitely missing some salt and flavor. The host realized we had never been there and brought us a sampler of all their salsas. I personally enjoyed all three. They were tasty and well seasoned and not super spicy. When I got my food, I was so impressed. The presentation was beautiful! Sadly, everything was under seasoned and the experience was definitely underwhelming. I ordered the chilaquiles rojos, with a side of scrambled eggs. I was pleasantly surprised that the order came with rice and beans also! I only wish it tasted as good as it looked. I made myself eat some because I was hungry, but I wish I had walked out hungry.
