This is really my favorite northgate location. All the fruits, veggies and meat are always fresh. Sometimes the prices are a bit higher than my local stater Bros Markets but it's worth it. Aisles and products are usually well stocked. The workers are helpful when I have a question. Thank goodness the guy at the meat area announce both Spanish and English number names. I recently got to try their carne asada taco meat (shoulder meat) at a party and was very impressed. This past weekend I bought the taco ingredients and made them at home. It's was pretty amazing! The ready to serve food area was amazing! This review is only for that and not for the grocery part. The ceviche counter had like 20 different kinds, including aguachile! Soo yummy. For the past 3 days at lunch, I had tried 3 different types of ceviche. All so delicious and much more affordable than eating similarly high quality ceviche at a restaurant! The menudo soup & Caldos were also my fav. Did i mention they have a fresh guacamole station? I bought the hot ones. So fresh & yummy! They also have fresh blended juices & 18 types of agua Frescas, plus many hot food items. There are about 20 seats just next to the check stands. Third time and last time I come to Northgate. I came with my family to the premade food and got Guacamole, ceviche, and aguas frescas. First stop was the Guacamole station and the lady making the Guacamole was rude to me because I wanted a small guacamole and they only had medium ready to take. Second stop was ceviche and the guy was so rude to me and my dad and we were just getting 2 pounds of ceviche. The third was the lady in the aguas I asked for a plate and she treated horribly. I come here a lot, the tacos are delicious and the carnitas and chicken is good , I come in fill up my cart and before leaving I stop and get tacos mostly, There's burritos and tortas and quesadillas . Stopped by to get a watermelon water which are normally very good and refreshing. Todays water tasted like it sat in the fridge overnight (which I don't normally mind too much) but this one has different taste to it, like it absorbed other flavors. Not good. I frequently shop at this market on Firestone, shoppers beware my EBT card was compromised at this location. I believe there are skimmers at the register or cashiers are involved . I went to the medi-cal office and the saw the activity after my purchase and when I left the market my card was used again without my knowledge. They prepare it right there in front of you, so what's in it is strictly up to you. They also have a set up for hot soups, tamales, and other assorted dishes. I've been coming to Northgate for years, but just recently I've noticed that they want you to bag your own groceries. I don't think so this isn't Food4Less or Winco, the prices are as high as they are BECAUSE you're paying for that extra commodity. We love to go here for their breads and ceviche (my favorite is the spicy mango ceviche ...but they usually run out of it fast). Their produce looks good and they've been bringing some good local and organic items as well. I haven't tried their food personally but have heard from friends their food is good. What a disgrace with Northgate's Carnicería. What's supposed to be espinazo de puerco resulted in some flat death smelling strips of meat. Pork meat does have a smell to it but this smells rotten. We just bought it yesterday on 12/23/2020 to make it for Christmas Eve. It is unfortunate that these markets are charging us a "quality meat price" and we're getting spoiled food. I went on a busy day to get items to make dinner. When I was going to pay my items the cashier ESMERALDA asked my mom if I was going to pay my moms items also and my mom said sure. ESMERALDA then proceeds to say you know it says 10 items or less? So then why does she ask if we would like to pay together and top it all off involves the customer behind us to shame my mother and I. I stopped by to grab a couple items by the hot bar, I observed cross contamination and staff not wearing gloves handling hot food orders to go. There was a two staff workers that I noticed that used the SAME blue gloves that they were already using to move carts and other non food kitchen equipment to help customers when they ordered a hot food to go items (NOT CHANGING THEIR GLOVES) for example pozole and menudo and also champurrado. It is VERY IMPORTANT to use disposable gloves AND CHANGE GLOVES EVERY TIME when handling food for customer because otherwise is non sanitary and cross contamination occurs!!! read more

Hands down, the best ranch market I've ever been to. This particular Northgate market is a Spanish version of a Whole Foods market but with more competitive prices. There are always several items available to sample throughout the store. I like that you can buy various Mexican foods, salads, etc. by the pound ($5.99/lb) similar to whole foods experience. They also have fresh tamales in all meats, various empanadas, various ceviches, agua de frescas, etc. This is definitely a great place to have lunch or dinner if you can't seem to narrow down what you want. They even have two separate cash registers designated to serve quick sales and/or dine in patrons. There is also a nice salsa bar you can use and you can choose to sit indoors or out. As for the rest of the market, it is very clean and well stocked. Prices are a bit more than other ranch markets, but still competitive to Ralph's, Vons, Albertsons, etc. The quality at this Northgate is close to that of Ralphs and Vons but I've been to other Northgate market and must say its not always the case. They also have a nice bakery with fresh bread every few hours and a HUGE selection of pan dulces. I've never seen so many options!! This store is a must try at least once for the ultimate ranch store experience!! read more

As long as I hit the Northgate Gonzalez Market in Norwalk early in the morning, it's as good as gold to me! This store is hustle and bustle. I mean the parking lot is near 60% capacity at 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday. It's a decent sized parking lot and a fairly large NGM if you ask me... And I can't forget all those mamas and papas with LOADS of groceries - I mean packed full in their carts. I love it, though. The employees are nice. Super clean, organized store. Clean parking lot too. The checkout lines are fairly quick even when all those fully-loaded carts hit the conveyor belts. While I can't find all of my shopping needs here, I do love it for many items. Even their ready-to-go fruit - so fresh. Tons of fresh vegetables. Decent meat department. Tortilleria. That bakery... My most recent discovery was that they sell Hatch chiles. I'm from New Mexico so I revel in the glory that is Hatch chiles. There are festivals in Hatch, NM, for this very reason! BUT... Just like the short-lived chile season, there are very few chances for us to buy these delicious green babies. If needed, you can even have them roast your chiles outside near the front for free. Check out their fresas con leche & their ready-made entrees and sides! If you're non-Spanish speaking/reading, you're in luck. Most of the store is labeled primarily in English, then Spanish. Easy parking. Grande horchata is $2.99. Great liquor aisle. I bought avocados and green onions. I had never seen so much nopales in my life. Pinatas are located next to the produce section. We have been here about 15-20 times over the years, but not since they remodeled. I went today for lunch and the remodeled look is great. We have gotten groceries a few times, pan dulce, flowers, but generally come for the take out food. We have gotten tacos, burritos, tortas, ceviche, and tamales. All items have been very good. Today my son and I had a great lunch for $20. We ordered: 2 tortas (al pastor and asada), 2 tamales (pork and sweet corn), and 2 drinks (watermelon water and a sangria bottle). 1 Star for customer service experience. Everything else is star I went in at about 9:30 pm to buy some bread and waited patiently. Employees passed by and didn't offer to help me nor bother to let me know no one was at the bakery and or it was closed. 15 minutes later, I walk to the front desk where there was three employees, one male, and two female. I kindly ask is the bakery is open as one of the employees who were on the phone ignores me. I asked again, directed to the ladies who I interrupted yet apologized for disrupting their conversation. The lady said with an attitude, "it's closed, but if you want bread, I guess I'll go," I just said, don't bother, nodded my head, and walked out of the store. I have shopped at Northgate and never had a bad experience until now. Everything is great there, and I highly recommend it. However, if any of the stations are closed, out of courtesy, dim the lights, turn them off or just put a sign that says closed. read more

I was there to grab some tamales and I bought some kiwis along. Very excited to try them since they are a special kind of kiwis. They are golden inside. I love the fact that they have so many sections of food items. I feel it's made of so many stores in one big supermarket. I call it little Mexico :). They have so many options. Different varieties of fruits that you can't find in other Hispanic supermarkets. It's huge, appealing, and clean. I gave it four stars for good customer service, and abundance of products. The Tamales were ok. On the dry side. Nothing compares to my Mexican mother in laws tamales but I can't review the whole store with all that it offers just for tamales. My star rating for tamales would be 2. I would not come back for it. I would come back for the other exotic Mexican products in the store. read more

This place is awesome ! So glad someone introduced me to this place. We need a place like this in the bay area ! It's like a Mexican version of Costco + Whole Foods. It's got an awesome deli and hot food section and you can pretty much sample everything they have. If you come, the GUAC is a must. It's freshly made and the spiciness is customizable. Their aqua frescas are deliciously fresh. All the food looks delicious and fresh. I don't think you can go wrong here. I'll be back on my next LA trip. read more
