When I'm around the area, I like to stop by for lunch in this market. It's clean and their selection of lunch is nice. They have tortas, sushi, burritos, tacos, made to order. Service is on point , they are very friendly. They have different lunch special mon- fri. Lunch+drink for $11 + tax , what a deal. They also have a bakery, avocado in house made, and many hot lunch selections, priced by the pound. Awesome place , parking lot does get crowded

Will forever love northgate for its convenience if you're looking for groceries, but food, ceviche, bakery, agua frescas and more. I recently went to this location and saw they sold shoes and some clothing. The store is always clean and there's a large parking lot.

Hot food needs to be fresh. It's dry and a fish taste not fresh. If I can I would give it a 0 star review

Carne Asada Torta and Passion Fruit Agua Fresca.

Great Mexican Market! But they have everything a traditional market has and more! This is my go to when I make traditional dishes like tamales, enchiladas, carne asada, etc. I used to go to multiple places to get the best ingredients but now I can get everything here. I also love that they have a hot bar, bakery, fresh cheese, fresh tortillas, great butcher, and rotisserie style chicken and carnitas. Sometimes we go there just for the Tortas and the Agua fresca, all the flavors are great but my new favorite is passion fruit.

Carne al pastor

Almost $9 for a pound and half of Al pastor carne full of fat pieces. Sucks that I had to be digging through my meat to take out the fat pieces.

Tres Leches.

This Northgate Market is a one stop shop for all our Latin cuisine grocery needs. Avocados, Tamales, Meat, Tres Leches, etc. are what I purchase on my way back home from work. Location is super convenient for me. Aisles are clear. Lot of checkout counters! Meat line moves pretty fast! For great deals and an efficient shopping experience, I definitely recommend this store!

My absolute favorite place to shop. The produce is perfect. The tamales are to die for.

Check dates or you will take home expired food. I should know better. I normally don't come here.

Ask the Community - Northgate Market

Do they sell masa for tamales?

As far as I know, they do, since it's an Hispanic market.

How are the fresh flour tortillas by the dozen?

Yes!

Are the tamales any good? Are they made and sold daily? Or is it just a seasonal or one day a week thing? I was thinking of buying some.

I think they're pretty good and they make them daily. They have a self serve station to pick your own. They have a big selection (chicken, pork, beef, cheese, and sweet (pineapple?)). I do feel that the ones from the La Habra location were better…

Do they still have Guacamole lady at the front of the store? Homemade & worth the five pounds you will gain!

Yes!!

It was very convenient for me because I was taking the 605 freeway, and this Superior Grocers is literally right off the freeway on the northwest corner of Rosecrans and Studebaker. To get back on the freeway was just as hassle-free. Superior Grocers will offer some red tag specials every weekend, but these sale prices would only be valid during that weekend, basically days that start with the letter 'S'. The last weekend of May, Superior Grocers had a sale on Navel Oranges at 2 lbs for $1. I didn't have much fruit left at home, so I wanted to stop by and restock my supply of oranges. This is one of the newest, yet smaller, Superior Grocers around town. I usually go to the Bellflower location, which is smaller than the two in Long Beach and the one in Buena Park. However, this Superior Grocers did one better (or smaller, in this case lol) with a location that I'd estimate is about 60% to 70% the size of the Bellflower location. And with a smaller location comes narrower aisles, as you might imagine. I came on a Sunday at about 11 AM, and the store wasn't even that busy. However, I still had a hard time maneuvering a cart through the produce section with how thin the passageways were. The oranges here were much better quality than the oranges I've recently gotten at a different store. WIth navel oranges, you're either going to get small ones with a thinner skin, or significantly larger ones with thicker skin that look shriveled up. Some of the oranges I saw did have that kind of dried up rind, but nowhere near as close to what I've seen elsewhere. After grabbing some oranges, I was about to put the produce bags on the baby seat of the cart until I realized there was no flap for the baby to sit on! Of all the times I've gone shopping, this is the first time when I've actually seen no flap on the cart, which would mean anything you store in the baby seat could easily fall out. Imagine storing some glass bottles there, and they shattered on the floor as you were making your way to the checkout stand; if there were a you break it, you buy it rule, that would be a pretty unfair way to get hosed right there. Since I wasn't carrying anywhere close to a full cart, I simply placed the oranges in the much larger compartment of the cart. They only have about five checkstands at the front of the store, and only two cashiers were working at the time of my visit. Luckily, neither line was too long, though I can see much longer lines happening here, especially during peak hours. Jessenia was the cashier who rang me up, and there were no issues with payment or her customer service. I came in through the east entrance, but didn't notice there was an entrance on the north side of the building until after I paid for the oranges. It makes sense, however, because the east lot isn't as spacious, especially in comparison to other Superior Grocers locations. If that lot is full, there are more spots by the north entrance and even more towards the west. Unfortunately, there were no shopping cart returns in the east lot, so even upon my arrival, I noticed shopping carts scattered about the parking lot. I know the lot is small and all, but having at least one parking spot designated for a shopping cart return could save the other parking spots from being occupied by unattended carts. Overall, not too bad of an experience here at this Superior Grocers, which opened about 4 years ago in the City of Norwalk. The Bellflower location is only about 4 miles away, so if there's something you can't find at this Norwalk store, you may have better luck in Bellflower. And if you're still out of luck, the Long Beach location on Cherry is, guess what, another 4 miles away! lol
