The owner, Steve, is SO RUDE!! Please do not use them. I should have noticed they only have a rating of 3 stars. Here's what happened: I called to schedule an appt an they couldn't come for 2 weeks. Kinda annoying I had to wait so long. Then I had to reschedule and when I called I was told my appt wasn't even on their calendar. I was like, um ok, well I need to reschedule anyway. The gal in the office, Felicia, said she would check with the owner to make sure he didn't have the appt on his personal calendar and call me back. She did not call back. That evening he finally calls and says they were waiting to hear from me. I'm like - no you guys were supposed to call me, but whatever. When I say I have to reschedule he tells me I have to wait another two weeks. As I am about to say: well I think I'll need to call another screen company if you can't get me in sooner...he actually doesn't even let me finish my sentence: he hung up on me mid-sentence. I was shocked he hung up on me mid-sentence! Who does that? So I call back and say, Excuse me, you hung on on me while I was still talking and he says "I heard you say you were going to call another screen company, so goodbye" and he hangs up again. Well, I've not posted a bad review before, but this calls out for one. I did not actually use their service, but after what happened on the road, I would never. A few days ago, a large truck with "Northridge Screen Service," and their phone number printed on it, cut me off without any warning, suddenly forcing me into the middle of the road. I honked at the truck. Thank goodness there was a middle of the road, and not just the other side of the road, and that there was no one driving beside me to my left. But it scared me, so I phoned the office number that was posted on the truck to report it to the business owner. This was "Northridge Screen Service." The person who took the call said they only have one truck and she would let the owner know. I felt relieved, until further up the road I found myself actually driving alongside this truck. The door and window were an open design, so I called out to the driver, "Hey, why'd you cut me off back there?" He looked very agitated and yelled back that no one got hurt and for me to get over it and gave me the finger yelling, "F. . . you! (I believe he called me a bitch)" and then he gave me the finger a second time and yelled again for me to get over it, saying "f . . . you!" again. He was extremely agitated, so I drove away, but phoned the office again and told her what had happened. She asked me to describe him. I told her he was a scruffy scrawny looking guy. She said that was the owner, Steve. Surprised, I said to her it is too bad this cannot be reported to someone. But since there is a higher god called "Yelp," I asked her to let Steve know to look for a review. (I would not allow this obscene excuse for some kind of "person" and what would certainly not work out to be a professional person and business into my home. If you do, be prepared for rudeness if you express anything that goes against him and his lack of self-esteem. But I suppose he is having a tough time--I hope that is the reason for what happened, and not just his character. One can only hope things will indeed get better for him and the people around him. Let's hope, Steve. Please do not take this out on your nice office staff--they are not the problem!) Runaway......Wow, Steve was the rudest man I ever spoke with . They quoted me $180 to change my sliding door screen and when I called around I found that I can get a brand new one for $200. So as I was telling them that I'm not interested and I was going to say why he hung up on me. I thought I must of dropped a call since what adult who runs a business in the right mind would hangup on a customer so I called back and I asked if he hung up on me and he said did it sound like this and he hung up again. They installed a new screen in my front door. It look good, was done well and in a timely matter. But less than three months after it was installed the screen fell out. I called them and their response was there is warranty on their work. They did say they would gladly come out and repair it for the cost of a new one. read more

Wow. I hate to write a negative review but Steve is impossible and completely rude. I had a 12-2pm appointment, called the office to ask his timing and they told me he'd be at my house closer to 2. So I ran an errand and got home at 1215. He showed up at 12, our nanny answered the door and he would not come in until I arrived. I spoke to him briefly and he was so short with me and wouldn't listen to my situation. By the time I arrived home 5 minutes later (at 1215), he was gone. No phone call, nothing. Luckily many other screen places exist, so it'll all be fine I am just shocked by how someone goes about doing business. There is clearly no communication between Steve and his office. Can you give half a star this guy is extremely rude, clunks around the house like a bull in a china closet. I watched him proceed to knock over my plants and bang the screen door into the gutters and ceiling. Left a mess didnt bother to clean anything up. He said my wheels needed to be replaced on the screen when all I asked for was to repair the screen. They all rolled smoothly and I never asked him to fix the wheels. He decides to charge me $32 per wheel which all rolled fine when he tested the door before removing it. He must have broken them when he banged the doors around. I noticed his helper sliding the door back and forth and it made an awful screeching noise like nails on a chalkboard. They must have slid it back and forth 15 times and finally Steve muttered something to his helper then said they were finished. I was paying him and mentioned to him that I dont like the sound the door makes and that it never made this hideous sound before. I asked him to look at it as it never made that sound when he tested it before removing it. He gave me three different excuses about the rubber bug catch the type of wheels I have on the door and that all screens make some sound or another. I asked him again to fix it, He left and would not come back. It took me some time but I had to remove the door myself and figured out that it only took 2 turns to the left with a phillips screwdriver to loosen the tension knob. This guy wears a bag with close to 50 different screwdrivers on it. I think it makes him feel official. I just paid the guy over $500 and he couldnt take 30 seconds with 1 of his 50 screwdrivers to make the sound go away. Hes a narcissist, has a bad attitude and figures that in a city like LA he can just rip through people like a Barracuda then on to the next. No customer service and extremely rude equals no stars here. Yelp will give him a default 1. If I had read these reviews I would have never used Northridge Screens. Horrible customer service. I called for a quote which seemed reasonable and when the service was complete, it was double what the quote was. The receptionist had not included the service charge into the quote. How was I supposed to know that??? Additionally, I had also asked the receptionist about payment and whether they accept credit cards. When the work was complete and I took out my credit card, I was told that I was unable to use a credit card unless it was OVER $200. Again, why wasn't I informed of this when initially asking about payment???? When I called the company to let the owner, Steve Miller know that his receptionist was offering incorrect information, he told me that I had clearly had a bad day and hung up on me. My dogs ripped a hole in my sliding screen door. I called Northridge Screen Service and they were able to come out the next business day. They were right on time and repaired the screen and were in and out in about 20 minutes. I was very impressed. The screen door also slides a lot better after they were done with it. Both workers were very courteous. I will definitely use them in the future if needed. read more

Asked about bringing in the screen door to the shop for repair (with my own purchased parts) and was quoted a $40 shop fee. the work was completed quickly (ten minutes) by Steve, who was polite, professional and efficient. I live a condo complex and heard some loud sounds coming from outside my window and found this company unloading his huge van with supply and power tools to setup shop 20 feet from my bed room window at 7:20AM. I'm not actually reviewing any service, but I had an encounter with one of the drivers who not only cut me off but did so in the middle of an intersection which is illegal. Imagine my surprise when I looked that company up online and saw that it was the owner himself! I really don't like writing bad reviews but I am very upset and feel taken advantage of. I had Steve come out about six months ago to replace the screen on a door. One screen and with tax, labor etc etc etc it came to $217! Not knowing any better I paid. Well we got a dog who tore down that screen, another screen on a door and two screen windows. I had another company come out who fixed all of it and made a new screen for another door for $150!!! And same materials, excellent work and super friendly. read more

Wow! What a great experience I just had with Steve & John! My dog popped a hole through our screen door, and I was able to make an appointment to have it fixed within a week. Steve called to confirm the appointment, called to tell me when they were on their way, gave me a window of three hours and were here within the first hour! They were friendly, courteous, knowledgeable & fast. They finished within an hour, charged what I was quoted and suggested an alternative which will help me going forward. This company comes to your door and performs the work at your home. Their truck is neat and organized. I can't say enough about how professional & pleasant my experience was today. He just left, and I'm livid. About a year ago I brought a screen door to their shop (which is not normally a place for customers to go, but I asked them. I asked them to fix the screen and I'd pick it up. They did. So last week I needed a big screen door fixed. I brought it to the shop. The girl there said "Steve" would have to call me back with a quote, that it probably would have to be replaced. They would need to make a new one. I told her I needed the screen to match what i brought in. She showed me a frame they use, and I said that would not work cause it was much wider and wavy. She showed me another that was much closer. Better quality than I had, so I was willing to go with it. I left waiting for a call to get a quote and date from Steve. She calls me back that day and say I have to pick up the screen or they will throw it away. They don't want it there. Okay, well, I brought it so they could make a screen to match. He was not pleased it was there. I said fine, throw it away if you will come make me a new one at the house. We scheduled a date. He shows up today. Sounding all sweet and nice and calm, then proceeds to take out the sample frame that is the one I do not want, that is completely different than the other screen doors next to the missing one. He says, well, we'll have to order the other frame than, and reschedule. WHATTT?? I gave them all the information to begin with, even the damn door, and they waste my time like this? I also had told him this is a rental property that he can't just come back anytime while customers are here. I am livid. He said, we'll say this is an estimation visit, and i could pay him $54 bucks now that will go towards the door when they get the supplies and come back. REallY???? And he couldn't confirm when he'd be back. At least 10 days away. Had to go to office to see schedule? Couldn't call??? really? Then here's the kicker. Although i sound angry and mean here, I was very nice but did share my concern and frustration that I had given them all the information before to make this appointment work. And I came out of my way to meet him on this particular day between tenants. He said, "well, you are one customer out of many"... so basically he said "i don't give a shit about you.". yes, this is my first time writing a review for a service guy. I didn't read all of the info on the website before we paid a visit to their place of business. It's not set up for customers. However, the woman who I assume answers phone calls was very pleasant. I don't think she had ever received any instructions on how to handle walk-in customers, but she did the best she could and let us look at the few screen doors they had in their warehouse. She said Steve would call later that day. He did, but it was obvious he really didn't want us to order a screen through him if we weren't going to have him install it. We're having our kitchen remodeled and our craftsman are more than able to hang a kitchen screen door - especially since our doorway is a standard size and screen doors can be adjusted. Steve must have had many bad experiences in the past because he kept mentioning what could go wrong. I wanted to order from NSS because they had styles I hadn't seen on Home Depot or Lowe's websites and they had one that I wanted, but his attitude was such that we decided we just couldn't give him our business. I did get the sense though that he really knows how to install screen doors. He just doesn't know how to interact positively with potential customers. read more
