My parents, whom were both wolves (as some of you know), were much smarter than humans. They chained me up, but they argued it was for my own good. Once upon a time on a 100 degree day I pulled out the sticks with a few of the lads and rip some golf stick ball at some subpar course nearby (being kind). They had run out of carts. We walked. Undergarments a swampin', backs bombed with sweat, bodies drenched with stench. Calories over multiple of thousands burned, as said my smart watch. We followed it up with Three Boys, Northvale Classic and DQ. What a day. What a trio. More recently, I've introduced this institution to some unsophisticated New Yorkers and Connecticutians who know not a thing about real diners. Of course, their minds have been blown. Short rib grilled cheese? Chicken Sicilian Sandwich? Paninis? Dozens of deluxe burgers? And all done legitimately well? Yesssssir. Lovely neighborhood diner at Northvale NJ. We went on Sunday for brunch. We were lucky to have live jazz that day in the diner. It was quite an experience. The music is lovely. And the musicians were so nice and friendly. The service was good. It was really busy so it took sometime to get their attention when we needed something. But the food was great. We picked this diner for a Sunday brunch, went there around 11am. They had a huge dining space, so we got a table right away. The interior was modern, full of sunlight, and cozy setup. It turned to be the Jazz Sunday, which is second Sunday of every month. The band was right in front of us and performed multiple songs. I recognized the spiderman and pink panther theme songs. The menu was huge, full breakfast, brunch and regular lunch (after 11am) dishes. They also had lots of specialty drinks and shakes. I ordered the trio fajitas. It took about 20 minutes for the dish to come out. Among the trio, shrimp was my favorite, followed by chicken and beef. All them were mixed delicious grilled onion, peppers and sauce. The corn tacos were soft. Cheese and guacamole were decent. The freshly squeezed OJ was tasty. The crab cake Benedict was a good dish. But the pizza could have been better. The server and staff were very friendly. The jazz band interacted and took pictures with us. My family and I had a wonderful brunch here. We like this place because it's one of the few diners with an outdoor seating area at back in summer. Finally a diner that actually has lots of options that are all GOOD. I love going to diners because of the variety but rarely is there one that can deliver on its promises and this one DOES. I started with the peach mango smoothie which was so yummy, balanced and creamy. It was a bit thin for a smoothie but the flavor was out of this world satisfying. I got the bacon avocado eggs benedict, my friend got the breakfast sliders, and we shared the French toast tiramisu tower. The benedict was good, my only note is more hollandaise but I am quite literally a hollandaise fiend, I like a little bit of eggs benedict with my hollandaise. I didn't get enough of it to know whether or not it was a perfect sauce, but it wasn't egregiously overwhelmed with lemon or cayenne and didn't stand out in a negative way so I give that a point for cohesion. My friend loved the breakfast sliders, which were little bacon, egg and cheese biscuits and I had to try a biscuit because I love biscuits so much. They were sooooooo good. Definitely getting a side of biscuits next time. Finally we get to the star of the show: that beautiful French toast tiramisu tower. I don't even like tiramisu because I'm part of the .001% of the population that doesn't like coffee, but I think the name comes from the mascarpone filling because nothing was coffee flavored and thank God because it was amaaaaaazing. I loved the flavor of the French toast itself and the assortment of fresh fruit that went with it along with the mascarpone cream filling that was so light and not overly sweet and didn't melt like whipped cream would in between the warm layers. The ratio of French toast to fruit to cream was PERFECT. I was too full to finish it but devoured the leftovers at home for dinner because I couldn't stop thinking about it for the rest of the day. Both yolks broken, eggs room temp also. I eat here regularly. Place wasn't crowded. I've been going to the Northvale Diner for as long as I can remember. I even had birthday dinners here as a kid! We used to also come here for breakfast on Sundays after church. In the Fall, one of my favorite meals to get for breakfast as a kid was their pumpkin pancakes, but I'd add chocolate chips! If you're looking for classic New Jersey diner food, this should be your stop. Their appetizer sampler is great! That's a classic to get. They also have really good disco fries, spinach and artichoke dip, and potato skin boats! We tend to get a whole bunch of their appetizers and split them as a table. I recently tried their Oreo Hot Chocolate (pictured) and it was so delicious! So decadent. I typically have had great service there, although sometimes on a crowded night, things can move a little slower. I forget when they renovated the restaurant, but they made some nice upgrades a while back. When I was there last, I loved how they decorated the restaurant for the holidays. Came here for lunch after a hike with friends and ordered the shrill tacos. Honestly some of the best tacos i've had. Crispy shrimp, a great chipotle aioli, fresh cilantro, a great crema sauce! The rice and beans were also very well done and paired so well with the tacos! Cheers! read more

My wife and i just got an email that Northvale Diner was having daily specials etc so we decided to go to the diner and try out the "sliders" that was supposed to be Mondays special. ( All Day) So I called the diner and made sure that they were having the specials available . so the guy that answers the phone says NO, I said what do you mean no I just got an email that says you're having specials. How is that? So he says he'll talk to the manager hold on.. a minute later he comes back to the phone and says yeah we do have the sliders special today but it's Dine In only.. So about an hour later, my wife and I go down and were sitting ready to order when we asked for the sliders, and the waiter said we don't have that today. I said what are you talking about? I just called up on the phone. They said to come down that you have to dine in to get the special etc..He says I'm gonna get the manager and ask him.. he says ok yeah we do have that sliders special today . "ITS FOR 1 SLIDER) we just looked at each other obviously thinking it was a joke but unfortunately, unfortunately, it wasn't..the waiter says if you want the slidders it's gonna be $16.99 The manager comes over. We explained the whole thing to him and he goes. Oh, we do have the slider special today. It's for one slider." Same thing the waiter just said.. both my wife and I were like are you serious? that's like some serious false advertising. Don't they care about their customers? How could they just do that and make us come down here ?? They told us that they have a special we come down and this is what it is, even though the ad that you posted says 3.99 sliders special/ all day.. I've lived in Northvale for over 12 years. The Northvale Diner has been an important establishment to me and my family. We would go there at least once a week, for lunch, dinner or for Sunday breakfast. Great food and great service was always delivered, until Covid hit... then that changed everything. However, this was the same story that all establishments faced during this difficult time. We always understood and remained patrons to the Northvale Diner during this rough Covid transition period, with the hopes that things will eventually get back to normal...in time. Sure there were always mistakes, or things missing from our online order, or just long delays, but we always stuck with them...until today. Tonight we ordered dinner what was supposed to be cheeseburger sliders. What we received barely resembled anything like a slider. They weren't even complete mini buns, It look like somebody cut up a large bun into small pieces. The meat patty itself look like it was loosely compacted, and hard to pick up. It Just looks like somebody just didn't care to make a simple hamburger look remotely appetizing. Naturally, my 8 year old kid didn't want to eat it and I don't blame her. When I attempted to call back to see if they can redo the order, no one picked up. They have a new store hours (9pm) On a Saturday night. If this was an isolated incident, I would overlook this immediately. However, it wasn't...in-fact, it's becoming business-as-usual. And I can't overlook this anymore. There are so many other establishments out there that my family can order from and I think we always went to the diner because we remembered it to be excellent, convenient and familiar. Those three words are all foreign to me now in when describing the Northvale Diner. There will be people who read this post and think that I'm being overly dramatic, while others will agree to the decline in customer service at this establishment. For those people who have great experiences at the Northvale Diner, I hope they continue to do so. However, we will not be eating in or ordering from the Northvale Diner again. Did the diner sell? Been meeting friends there for many years, usually on Sunday mid afternoon. Today was a beautiful day for a ride. The diner was freezing. Everyone had their coats on. We asked and he turned the ac up to 70. So we left our coats on. We usually have the same thing every time. I had a cheeseburger, cooked okay but warm mushy fries. My husband ordered French dip, but only if the it could be medium rare. Waiter said fine. Ordered French Toast and another person ordered the beet salad. It's a new menu and prices have increased noticeably. Beet salad for $15 was skimpy. French dip came out well done. Different waiter said it's always well done. They exchanged it for a burger. More mushy limp fries. French toast was good. Ordered carrot cake - very skinny slice. Not what I remember. One couple paid cash, one paid with a card. Told the waiter to split the bill - half card half cash. Card has a 3% charge. The Cashier took all the cash and put it towards the bill and charged what was left over. I went here yesterday with 4 of my friends to get lunch and we were sat immediately. The service was very fast throughout the entire time we were there. Our table ordered the Santa Fe egg rolls. I ordered chicken tacos and my other friend who also uses Yelp ordered the pulled pork sandwich. All of these dishes were great. The meat on my tacos were amazing, but everything else was super good. I loved the plantains that came with it. There was plenty of food for everyone and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely come back here. read more

Good family owned diner. Lots of parking, tons of booths and tables and extra space, you don't feel crowded at all. They have somewhat of a small menu compared to other NJ diners, but it works. THEY HAVE MALTED MILKSHAKES. And they are deliiiicious. I got chocolate of course. It was amazing. The BF ordered a Margherita Pizza. Two people could easily share it. I didn't try it but he enjoyed it. I ordered the Napa Burger- 1/2 pound burger with arugula, goat cheese, tomato and Dijon mustard with sweet potato fries on the side. It was grrrreat! I've eaten here tons of times when in Jersey, but lately it seems like many of their offerings have shrunk! The salmon wrap I got was fantastic, but it seemed smaller than ones i've gotten in past years. And the prices, of course, are up (mostly supplier corporate greed, i'm sure). So I ate something I enjoyed, but didn't feel full in the least. I felt like I had a kid's portion. This diner is spacious, clean, and they serve huge quantities of food. Service is hit or miss on weekend because it seems everyone and their mothers come here before or after church. I tried the lamb burger and it was really flavorful and juicy. I'd never expect a lamb burger to be serve in this area but it was well done! The breakfast are nice too. read more
