We got into town late and have never been to DC before. This place was a 5 minute walk from our place so it was super convenient. We ordered Spaghetti Bolognese, the Italian Sausage Spaghetti, Lentil Soup, and Garlic Bread. The Garlic Bread order got lost in translation, but they added it for free before we left. AWESOME MOVE and great customer service. The soup was our favorite. There is a small outdoor seating area, but none inside. Our order was $40 and we have neighbors food for lunch tomorrow too. Ah-maz-ing! We decided to do Italian for our friend's birthday dinner and ended up picking this cozy little spot near Union Station. The prices are pretty affordable compared to other well known Italian spots in the city, but let me tell you - the taste and quality of the food is just as good, if not better! We started off with mozzarella covered garlic bread and marina dipping sauce (oops forgot a pic because we dove right in), and a few glasses of wine (they have a full bar, but no HH deals FYI). Garlic bread was nice and cheesy, good enough to fill you up a little bit before the main course. We all ended up getting the same dish - fettuccine Alfredo - because who can resist! Two of us got grilled chicken and one got shrimp. We also asked if we could add broccoli on top and they were very accommodating! The bowls were verrrry large (pictures are deceiving), and I actually had enough self control to save some for leftovers. One friend ordered a cannoli and said it was super sweet and delicious (I regret not asking her for a bite!) I honestly have zero complaints. Great Italian spot in Capitol Hill. The staff is very accommodating and the food is exceptional.

My boyfriend and I happened upon this place after braving the cold to see the popular DC sights. The ambience was welcoming and the playlist they had going was the cherry on top. Our waiter was one of the owners and was very personable. When our order was forgotten, the owner brought us out complementary garlic bread and then went so far as to only charge us for one meal despite us ordering drinks and dessert! It was so unnecessary of him, but goes to show what kind of person the owner is. I wished we lived in DC so we could come by more often! Food was fantastic and so was the wine! read more

I've never actually eaten at this restaurant since I always order delivery, so my review is based solely on the quality of the food. I was craving chicken parm one day and picked this place at random and let me say I am so happy I did. I've been craving this chicken parm since that day. I've ordered a few times and the food is always consistent. They serve large portions, which means I usually have some left over for the next day. The pasta is made in-house and so is the sauce and meatballs. If you're looking for authentic, no frills Italian dishes, this is your spot. They are now my go to Italian takeout place. Came by for lunch and service was very slow. Very small restaurant and the kitchen took a while to get our entrees out. Tried the calamari, garlic bread, and Caprese which were all good. The server did well at filling out waters, but felt like he didn't want us there. Brought us the check without asking about desserts, which I hate. I stuck with something simple, spaghetti with meatballs. The meatballs were not very flavorful and sauce was bland. Overall disappointment. read more

Such a FABULOUS find!!! The food, service and prices were perfect. We are from NYC Metro and very critical when it comes to Italian food. This place could open in my neighborhood and I would be eating there frequently. The homemade fettuccini with Pesto was over-the-top delish. The Chicken Parm melted in your mouth. So tender. And the manicotti was generously stuffed with ricotta and some spinach. Yum! I will be back and so will my friends if we are back in DC. read more

Great food but really odd experience. Things were great until randomly our waiter started ignoring us, and those around us got their food before us despite arriving after us. When we asked we were told we were the next plates, which wasn't true, and we never saw our waiter again - no check ins to make sure the food came out well, asking if we wanted dessert, nothing. We ultimately flagged him down and he pulled out the check immediately. They seem to prioritize take out orders over dine-in, so I'd recommend take out. read more

We happened upon this fabulous little gem while staying at an Airbnb a few blocks away... first impression that it is very quaint with cute tables with white tablecloths, and a clean, modern feel. Two brothers own the restaurant, and one of them was one of our servers, and he was very helpful and very kind. My son and I were dining alone and he was explaining to us that it is family dining, so the portions are rather big... We assured him that we were staying in an Airbnb with a fridge so we would be happy to take the leftovers and live on them for the next few days. We shared a delicious caprese salad. My son had the manicotti, which was fantastic, and the homemade marinara was off the hook. I had a chicken marsala... Sauce was perfection, and all of their pasta is homemade on the spot... I'm not eating pasta right now, but I couldn't help myself and ate most of it. We finished out the delightful meal with the lemonocello cake. It was sensational. Can't recommend enough. read more

Delicious example of good Italian food. We ordered bruchetta, meatballs, bolagnese and a Greek salad. Together more than two people should eat. Waiter was nice, said him and his brother just recently took over. A few round of shots and a few drink and dinner, this place was a bittersweet goodbye to DC. The perfect balance of feta, kalamata olives and banana peppers. And the cannoli afterward was to die for. We've been a lot of places -- Italy, even -- and this was an exceptional cannoli. What a great dinner we had tonight! It's a small, quaint neighborhood spot filled with lots of locals but these tourists were glad we found it. The food was so fresh and you could tell it was homemade. We weren't rushed through our meal and the service we received was excellent--such friendly staff! This is the best Italian carry out / delivery in DC. I have a rule with myself that I don't order delivery of items I can make myself, but Nostra Cucina's chicken Parmesan is one of my only exceptions. The bag is SO heavy when it's delivered because they load you up with so much food. It's super saucy, super cheesy, piping hot and complete with a cup of Parmesan and a couple slices of good bread on the side. I love this place so much and look forward to actually eating there in person one day! read more

Had an amazing dinner here. Food was really good. I was a little disappointed in the wine list which was very small for an Italian place. Service was good. They make most of the pasta fresh in house so ask about that and they can let you know which ones they make. Didn't get dessert because we were too full. Nostra Cucina is pretty good. We ordered online because they're not doing indoor seating due to COVID. We ordered a large pizza and baked ziti, which was supposed to take 45 min. We arrived 3 minutes prior to when the food was supposed to be ready and ended up having to wait another half hour before the food was ready. The food itself was great. The pizza was nice and greasy, thin and crunchy at the crust. The baked ziti had loads of cheese on top and lots of sauce. I'd recommend. read more

My boyfriend, brother and I had a great time at this restaurant! We started off with the fried calamari and garlic bread which were both delicious and really fresh. I tried my brother's chicken Parm spaghetti and my boyfriend's egg plant Parm spaghetti and both were really good. I had the primavera spaghetti which was a gigantic portion and filling. The vegetables in the pasta were fantastic. The sauce that comes with the different pastas is handmade and has pancetta in it making it really flavorful. Found this place by accident. We decided to stop in and give it a try. I am glad we did, as it did not disappoint! I got chicken parmesan and my cousin got the fettuccini pesto with grilled chicken. It is owned by a couple of brothers that were personable and welcoming. The food reminded me of something out of old Italian mother's kitchen. The portion sizes are perfect, I was leaving stuffed! I cannot say enough good things about Nostra Cucina, but I'm going to try. I've gotten takeout about four times now, and they are always quick (15-20 mins) and kind. More Hill staffers should come here for lunch! They have the best - the BEST - lasagna in the District. Do not miss it! The meatball sub is my favorite, and my boyfriend loves their chicken parm. Their lentil soup is ~chef's kiss~ if you're trying to be healthy (just ignore the prosciutto bits!) I got the fettuccine pesto and I have to say, although it's good, it pales in comparison to anything with their bolognese sauce on it. I can't wait to dine-in here once the pandemic has passed. This is a gem on Capitol Hill, and I couldn't be happier to have discovered it! read more

Was much smaller than we expected, but that's not necessarily bad. Looks like one of the homes in the area from the outside, so don't miss it. We didn't get the warmest of greeting coming in and don't expect any formal hostess or server. Pretty much a couple of guys in tshirts. Food was good, fettuccine has plenty of sauce if a little bland. Not mind blowing food, but we wanted some basic Italian food in the area and this did the job. Let me just say, the walk from the Capitol to this quaint restaurant was beautiful. My wife and I came in at an odd hour so seating was plentiful and service was personal.
