Bundt cakes were made famous in the movie, " My Big Fat Greek Wedding." Ian's parents brought a bundt cake to the Portakalos family gathering and it is presented to Maria, the mother, confused she says Bundt Cake! It's a cake! It has a hole in it? Up until now you barely saw a bundt cake, with the hole in the center, at the bakery. With the opening of Nothing Bundt Cakes in Chicago all that will change, Lincoln Park is the first location in the city, with more to come. The shop is located in a strip mall on Clybourn with plenty of parking. When you enter the shop you are transported away from Clybourn Avenue to something out of Willy Wonka, displays of cakes and accessories all dot the shop, sweet smells, balloons, flags and banners, all in bright colors. Over in one corner is a little cart with sample bites to taste. I was cheerfully greeted by the staff, who was very accommodating, they asked if I would like a sample of their cake, usually there is only one flavor that is sampled at a time. The bundt cakes are beautiful and taste great, very moist, light cakes, with a butter cream cheese frosting, a work of art. All that you need to do is choose the cake and size, they can even have tiered cakes for larger groups that can serve up to 30. Nothing Bundt Cake does it all: bite sized Bundtinis which are sold by the dozen, individual Bundt Cakes, 8" and 10" Cakes, along with the Tiered Cakes. There are many cakes to choose from: chocolate, lemon, cinnamon, swirl, pralines, even a gluten free cake. My favorite cakes are: white chocolate raspberry, red velvet (it even has tiny little chocolate chips mixed in), and chocolate turtle, which happens to be the flavor of the month, all are out of this world and melt in your mouth delicious! In addition, the staff will be happy to assist you in choosing little cardboard flags or banners, candles, and sparklers to add a little individuality the bundt cake. Nothing Bundt Cake has everything you could use to accessorize the delicious treat from, stained glass or ceramic cake plates, to a baby's first fork and spoon for their birthday bundt! Interested in adding on to the bundt, pick up a cook book, apron and utensils. Make sure to look at the greeting cards before you leave, they are very cute. There is just so much to see in the shop, each time there is something new and interesting. Nothing Bundt Cake has been able to fill the hole in the middle, the only thing I would wish would be if customers could buy 6 Bundtinis at a time, for smaller groups. I am giving Nothing Bundt Cakes 5 stars because of the delicious , moist flavors of the bundt cakes and their aesthetic appearance. read more

I don't really care to leave reviews but I had to write about my experience this morning. I work for a Children's hospital and it being Nurses day, decided to order a treat for my coworkers. I called first thing in the morning to place an order for 2 dozen mini bundt cakes. I have to say that the bundt cakes were delicious and ready for pick up but it took several calls and the sales person was so very unhelpful, if that's even a word! LoL!! I've never encountered such difficulty to place an order, was placed on hold numerous times, was told to place the order online, only to find out I couldn't place an order for the same day online. So again I call, asked the person a question and was told "why don't you go online to see what you want then call to order" Really??!! Long story short... Love the little bundt cakes but will never do that again!! read more

Um HELLO this place is amazing. Thanks to Tam for the pro tip on signing up for their newsletter to get a free bundtlet on your bday cuz that's exactly what I did! Lol I popped in yesterday by walking ~10 mins from the red line stop but you can easily drive and find parking since the store is in a small plaza. Definitely a cute and clean shop, though more of a grab and go than a sit and enjoy kind of place. And although it was somewhat of a dreary afternoon, I was greeted by a human being just full of sunshine! He immediately offered me some samples of white chocolate raspberry bundt cake bites and popcorn. Both of which were eyes-wideningly delicious. He also informed me they can decorate cakes (the pictures did look really cute). But alas, I was only there for the bundtlet and though I was tempted to try other flavors, I just couldn't get that white choc raspberry outta my head! So I will 100% have to return to try more and to visit my new friend (the one full of sunshine). read more

I'll go with 4 stars. The shop is SUPER cute, the staff is very friendly, and they immediately offer you a sample- all very nice. Also this is in a shopping center with a parking lot so you don't have to circle for an hour looking for a spot. I think these are a nice alternative to fancy cupcakes- the size/price are comparable on the small bundts. However- while very moist (yay!), I personally found these just too sweet. I tried 4 flavors- all good but I couldn't eat more than a bite or two at a time (and I have a sweet tooth). Super super sweet. I had also taken some as a treat for my aunt and she said the same- tasty but "just too sweet to really enjoy." Also- and I feel bad saying this but the flavors tasted a little on the fake side to me. Definitely worth a try if you are in the area and a very cute option if you need to bring a sweet treat somewhere, but I feel like these rate a little higher on "cute" than on flavor, personally. read more

Omg my biggest regret is Not getting more cakes. But I was still so full from Pequods pizza! I ended up eating this cake the next day back home in Philly. I bought the red velvet cake. Tried these cakes for the first time at a pop up stand in HIP mall in Norridge the other day & decided to send some to a friend for Thanksgiving. Tried to order on line but the address was not in the delivery area. Called the store & spoke to Susan. I didn't realize that they had closed , but she was nice enough to take the order& schedule it for delivery. Great customer service! She went above & beyond to accommodate the order. My wife and I stopped in and picked up two of the bundlets, one carrot cake, and one pecan praline. These things are really good! There is the perfect amount of frosting on each of them. I hate it when a bakery drowns their cakes in frosting to make up for the fact that they can't bake a good cake. Nothing Bundt Cakes has the baking part down. A word of warning to anyone who ends up buying a small one, they are pretty big. I ate my bundtlet in a single session, and it was a little much. I would say that one bundtlet is great for two people looking for a little something sweet after a meal. I preferred the pecan praline, but that's not to say that the carrot cake was bad. You can't go wrong with any of the flavors here. I will most certainly be back, as the prices are reasonable (especially compared to the gourmet cupcakes all over the city). read more

Their bundt cakes are perfection--- you can't ask for a better cake than this. Service here is great as well--- everybody working here is so sweet and helpful. I will never do business with this bakery again. They made mistakes on my orders. I paid alot of money this month because I had ordered 2 cakes and the cakes were decorated. A supervisor should have checked the cakes before offering to the customer. Also they should work on their script. For my daughter's graduation, I went to pick up the graduation themed cake I ordered and there was no "welcome" or "how can I help you." The person in the store just waited til I spoke up and when I said what I needed, she shouted out to the backroom, "Can someone bring out an order!" . And no one was courteous when I was leaving with the cake, not one "thank you." The graduation cap decoration on the cake was full of lint which I had to pick out the lint before presenting at the party. How can anyone offer a cake without inspection.? I thought I would give them another chance. On another order (btw this will be 2 cakes in one month) they misspelled my friend's name on the card. I made this order on-line. I called the store about this and the person said she would have to call me back and she didn't. I called back today and the person said that "it is only at 50 cent card." I went here to pick up 2 cakes for Christmas Eve for our traditional evening dinner with the family. We all loved them! I'm not sure the exact names but we got the double chocolate chip one and a red velvet. I'll be honest, in the passed I've tried red velvet from other places and never liked red velvet as much as I liked a chocolate cake but THIS PLACE was the first time I liked the red velvet way more than a chocolate cake! Outstanding! I called the Lincoln Park location to order cakes to be delivered downtown as a birthday gift for a friend. The process was easy to order over the phone and they asked if I wanted balloons to be added to the cake! What a nice touch to make the delivery even more special. Lemon bundt cakes are the best. The flavor of lemon is bursting throughout every bite. I ordered an 8 inch w/all the decorations on it went home and ate it only to find out it was white raspberry flavor. There's a squirt of raspberry in the bundt. I included Pink Love toppers in my order - the shop was out of them. The owner went to a sister shop to ensure I had Pink Love toppers for the bundtinis as they were the brides' primary wedding color. That's above and beyond service!
