I have been here several times for lunch and dinner and it never disappoints!…read moreI ate lunch there a couple of days ago and just wanted to point out the exceptional, courteous, and personable service from Michaela. When I walked in, there was only one customer there and she was handling everything by herself. She was hostess and server. She handles it all with grace, confidence, and a smile. Kudos to Michaela and you're lucky to have her on your team!

My wife ordered the Vietnamese Lemongrass Chili Chicken, but unfortunately it was extremely salty, even by my standards, and I tend to enjoy saltier foods. We also ordered two cocktails that came out much sweeter than expected. It left us wondering whether some additional tasting and quality control in both the kitchen and bar could help improve consistency. That said, our server, John, was excellent throughout the evening. He was attentive, professional, and genuinely cared about our experience. When we mentioned the issue with my wife's meal, managers Jack and David both checked on us personally and worked hard to make things right. Their involvement and concern did not go unnoticed and reflected a commitment to customer service. We've visited Cafe Chinois over the years and have noticed changes since the passing of the previous owner and the family's transition into running the restaurant. The menu has evolved, and the overall atmosphere feels a little different than it once did. During our visit, there was some trash on the floor that remained for a while, suggesting that attention to detail may not be quite where it used to be. Even so, the excellent service from John, Jack, and David, along with the quality of my entrée, showed that the restaurant still has a strong foundation. With a little more consistency in the kitchen and bar, Cafe Chinois can continue to be one of Wilmington's favorite dining spots.

My wife and I recently moved here from the west coast and have been coming to this restaurant constantly when we're craving Vietnamese food, keep in mind we live 30-40 mins away and we make the drive because it's worth it, to add they have been very consistent with flavor, they don't miss. They have also won best Vietnamese restaurant numerously throughout the years, that speaks volumes. The staff is super friendly and very helpful if you have any questions about the menu. The restaurant itself is very straight forward but looks don't compare to the food. The price is also very fair compared to the other Vietnamese restaurants we've tried here and we've been to all of them, they don't compare and they're expensive for mediocre food. Andre if you see this, you've done an exceptional job! I would name the other staff members as well but have not got a chance to grab their names!

There were very few customers and only one guy who seated and served everyone. Very friendly, and professional. I ordered fresh spring rolls as an appetizer and tried to make a decision for my main course from the very bountiful menu. I chose the small Bun Bo Hue (Hue Beef Noodle Soup). My spring rolls came and they were stuffed with the freshest veggies I've ever received in a spring roll. There was also shrimp and pork, but the star was the veg. The peanut sauce was excellent but I would have loved about a teaspoon more of it for those 2 plump rolls. The main course arrived very quickly and it was much larger than I had pictured. No way I could eat a large portion. It was accompanied by a plate of shaved onion, jalapeños, and bean sprouts and an impressive amount of fresh Thai basil. It was all very good and I can't wait to go back and try something new. Leaning toward the Shrimp Udon. The menu has been updated since the pictures on this site were taken and has more selections.

4.5 stars! One of…read morethe best meals I ate in North Carolina. This pho restaurant was 'gas' and on-par with anything I've had out here in SoCal. Unassuming signage and location, the blackout windows are deceptive because the interior is spacious and clean. Quick service by the attentive staff. Huge portions that reminded me of home. I tried the spring rolls and beef pho. Bean sprouts and lime to accompany the meal, along with sriracha and hoisin sauce to add more flavor to the nice clear broth. Great texture for the rice noodles, and tender beef pieces and meatballs. The spring rolls tasted fresh, as well, and the peanut sauce was good. Once our food was served, I heard nothing but slurps for like 10 minutes straight.
