This is the best comic shop in SD, without a doubt. Now and Never sets the bar very high on what a comic shop should be. Big fan on how the comics are organized and stored. It is so refreshing to browse through comics that aren't stored in old dirty long boxes. There are labels everywhere so it makes navigating through the massive amounts of comics very easy. Another plus: air conditioning. I can't tell you how much better it is, browsing through comics, with excellent air conditioning. Lastly, the customer service. The Now and Never crew treats their customers right. Not just the regulars, but everyone who comes into the shop. I felt welcomed here, since day 1. I can't recommend this place enough. Now Or Never Comics is a rare jewel in the middle of Downtown San Diego. The shop itself is very well organized to find different genres and series (both old school and recent releases). On the second floor there are tons of collectible items and figures as well. The customer service here is amazing. It was my first time buying some comics and the guy who was working there was very friendly and knowledgable in helping me find some great reads. He is totally the Yoda of comics guided by the Force, haha. I hope to come back soon and definitely recommend visiting this shop! read more

Hands-down, the best comic shop in all of San Diego! I moved from a suburb of Dallas a few years ago, and was shocked at how difficult it is to find a great comic shop in the city that holds the largest comicon in the country. The owner Aaron is so great. He took the time to answer some questions via messenger with me. Zach probably has some of the best customer service I've experienced in a long time and that is coming from somebody who has been a restaurant manager for over a decade. Literally after one visit, he recognized me and pulled the comic that I had requested for subscribe and save as soon as I walked in. I left a message on a Instagram post that I was bummed that I did not see a comic I wanted from free comic book day, but I still had an amazing time. They actually got another shipment in and they saved it to the side for me on my most recent visit to pick up saga. I cannot stress how incredible the people here are, and how I will never use a different comic shop outside of them. I just can't wait to show all of my friends this place when they come in town! Very epic spot. Glad to have them back open. Lots of good options both upstairs and down. Upstairs has action figures / vintage collectables etc. Owner is very knowledgeable. They post most of the inventory on ebay as well, if you are a local you can bid and contact them for the local pick up option (tip). Great selection of graphic novels. They also have some retro games / systems. I picked up a 80s Punisher #1, a 93 Venom #2 and Deadpool & Cable. THIS PLACE IS AWESOME! Very nice staff, multiple payment options. Over the summer I fulfilled a dream of attending SDCC. Killing time, I walked to a comic shop nearby. Over the next two days, I hung out for about 5 hours, talking comics and life with Zach and Aaron, and looking at their immaculately, lovingly bagged and boarded inventory. It was one of the highlights of my trip. Zach is a TMNT fan and a new father, and it was a blast discovering that comics are life giving for him in the same way as me. Aaron is a small business owner with crazy experience in the retail comics business, and it shows from how his books are arranged and displayed, to the number of compliments he receives from customers on his shop while you're in there. These guys know what they're doing. I bought a book on Zach's recommendation, and it just arrived yesterday with this little note. I wish I lived closer, because I'd enjoy connecting with them weekly just like I do with my friends at my LCS. I can't recommend them enough, and I wish ALL businesses were as good at what they do as NON. I wish them the best, and look forward to my next trip to San Diego! read more

One of the better and cleaner comic shops in the area. I love coming to Now or Never to see whats new as well as look at anything that I can add to my collection. Coming to Now or Never always gives me a happy feeling and reminds me of my times as a kid running to comic book shops to read the comics there and leave after. Let me start off by saying that there are no membership fees and that they only ask that you pick up your comics from them. It's a pretty sweet deal! The store itself is awesome and is split into two floors. The first floor has the comics and the second floor has most of the extra goodies that you can buy. This is my favorite comic shop in San Diego. I love the set up of the shop. Everything is organized very well and very clean. Compared to the other local comic shops in San Diego, Now or Never has the best aesthetic. From the brick interior, to the well-constructed comic book bins with the pullout cabinets underneath. It might not be the biggest comic shop in San Diego, but there is A LOT of stuff here, while having more than enough walking space, to accommodate a fair amount of customers, without feeling cramped. Found a lot of great comics and collectibles at this shop. The labels Aaron adds to the comics are very helpful too! The upstairs section has a great selection of figures and other collectibles. Most importantly, Aaron is a great shop owner and treats his customers well. There's comic shops closer to me, but I'll drive a bit further to Now or Never, just for the excellent customer service. read more

I had a great experience at this store. I walked in and asked for help with finding some books for my students who are reluctant readers. The woman asked if it was ok that she call her husband who knew more about my request as she was filling in for him that day. In five minutes she had a stack books ready for me to look at. My criteria were that they be more PG-13, and contained stories. Husband and wife knocked it out of the park! I walked away with a few great graphic novels for my students, and will be back to this store whenever I'm in town! read more
