No even saying the waitress who gave me a dirty eye when I try to cancel two rolls, because I didn't realize it would cost 70 dollars to get 4 rolls. Feeling so horrible after I saw how tiny the pieces are. And they don't even taste good. And keep an eye on the credit card, to make they aren't charging me twice. Huge disappointment!!!! Update on the bills, Not surprised at all, they charged 114 dollars for two sushi rolls. Guess that waitress who walked away (extremely impatient and gave me the doesn't care look) when I wanted to cancel two rolls right after, really played her magic to steal money. Nice place for reasonably-priced sushi. Very clean establishment and friendly staff. I came in for lunch with two kiddos who needed highchairs and they were very accommodating and didn't seem the least bit irritated. They even had coloring sheets and crayons for my little guys! No kids menu, but a skilled parent could figure something out. I ordered the spider roll and edamame and fried dumplings. All good. Sushi rolls were even 50% off right now. Eating out for me is an adventure in terror due to dietary restrictions I must follow for my health. So it was truly refreshing to have a waiter that, not only understood my restrictions, but was knowledgeable enough to help me navigate the menu. Having dinner here was pure pleasure! I was a regular here for a long time. I won't be going back after disappointing service by the manager and an inedible meal. When I complained that my meal was missing components and that the food that was on my plate was inedible, I received no "fix" or service to help the problem. Instead I was completely brushed off. It was extremely disappointing and hurtful, after years of loyalty, to be brushed off with horrible service and extremely disappointing food quality. I went beyond this and emailed them only to receive the same service. After being in customer service, I know how to treat my customers. Their management might need a few lessons. read more

We arrived around 6:30. We were greeted by friendly, enthusiastic staff. They promptly went over the specials and gave us a laminated menu where we could mark our sushi order with a dry erase marker. This made ordering extremely easy for us since we were not ordering any cooked food. We thought we were under ordering so that we could see what we liked. Horrible experience. Had to wait around for 20 minutes to get seated with a hostess who ignored us. Then we were forced to switch tables so the restaurant could accommodate a larger party. Can't comment on the food, but our service was so unprofessional that we left before giving our order. We were told to "sit anywhere you'd like" upon entering and selected a corner table that had 6 seats. Even though there were only two of us, it was the only table away from kids and a lot of traffic. We were dressed nicer than the venue called for but it was date night for us. We ideally wanted the quietest area possible and to be close to each other. Our other 4 table options were 2 tables that would seat 4, right by the entry way just a few feet from the front door, a table for two that was actually two tables put together and resulted in A LOT of space between us, and then a table in the bar area with TVs and quite a bit of noise. Another person who worked there then came up to us and abruptly ask/told us not to take the only table they had for a group. We politely replied "oh, sure, no problem. Glad to move, the other wait staff just told us to take any table we wanted". The employee then said "yeah, well, most people wouldn't have taken our table for six" in a condescending tone as he turned and walked away. After finding another table (on our own), we decided maybe this wasn't the place for us. We quietly walked out. On the way out, we walked past the gentleman who had scorned us for our table selection and as we passed him, he said out loud (but not directly to us) "oh perfect!" Unfortunately, we left our jacket and quickly realized it. When we walked back in to get the jacket, I apologized to yet another one of the wait staff for the inconvenience and he said something incoherently that I asked him to repeat. He then said "oh nothing... it was just a bad joke". When I said "sorry, I couldn't hear what you said", he said "I was just saying, if you want sushi, maybe you can just go to Edwards". After looking it up, Edwards is a place 10 miles down the road when there were actually other sushi options within walking distance. We are 2 physicians who pride ourselves in always being kind, benevolent, and respectful to anyone and everyone who crosses our paths. We also happen to have leadership roles and we teach these concepts, in addition to others that include giving people the benefit of the doubt, trying to obtain context of other people's situations and perspectives, among many other humble approaches. Although we were all smiles and being kind in a seemingly unkind environment, we found ourselves amidst behaviors and actions that were clearly not going to give us anything close to the experience that we were looking for. Perhaps the food is good, but we'll not go back to find out. Our only hope is that maybe the owner will see this review and then help the waitstaff find refinement and training (for the sake of their customers experiences and the sake of the employees themselves) on manners and customer service. Mere kindness and benevolence would have kept us there that evening, around 6pm, 9/9/18. We subsequently found our way over to Vin48 and were delighted with the professionalism and service we received. Clearly their waitstaff has received formal training in manners and customer service. We loved the food and absolutely loved the service. We left some kind notes and a big tip to show our appreciation. read more

I'm from Florida, so my opinion on sushi in the middle of the country is a little skewed. In the summer, the prices at Nozawa are about right for the food you get. I suggest getting the smaller, less frilly rolls to get the most bang for your buck. The simple rolls are the best anyways (spicey tuna). Its the best priced sushi in town in the summers, and pretty decent for the money. The hot meals are pretty good as well, and always tastier when they are half off in the summer. read more

I've been to Nozawa many times, not just because it's close to my place and because it has sushi in Colorado, but because the food and ambiance are great. I've become a regular and the sushi chefs behind the bar recognize me. They usually hook us up with a free snack, but mainly based on the fact that we show them tip love, and they in turn hook us up on our future visits. During the off season their sushi drops to 50%, so I of course end up going twice as often, so it balances out. I've had an assortment of dishes from them, whether Thai, Bento lunch, or Chinese and they all are great. The atmosphere is very calm and low-key, so kids are not often found there, but that's not always a bad thing. Best time to go and get the best experience is a weeknight. read more

My wife and I went to Nozawa for dinner this evening, lured by the offer of "half price" menu items. We ordered a Spicy Tuna roll and two Pad Thais. Upon receiving the Tuna roll, the appearance was a slightly, reddish, salmon color and obviously old. The so called Tuna was ground, appearing finely minced, with NO texture. My wife commented that the color and texture did not resemble tuna. I tasted the "Tuna" which was absolutely SALMON in my opinion! A female manager, blond hair came to our table, and represented that indeed, the "Tuna" was Tuna blended with Sriracha hot sauce! We then received our Pad Thai, with none other than, you guessed it, Linguine noodles! What? When did the Thai people reject rice noodles in favor of Linguine from Italy for Pad Thai? Basically, the Pad Thai was insulted in every conceivable manner, no crushed peanuts, no Basil and a dark brown sauce with a modest, subdued flavor. The exception was that the food was warm and served on a white plate! A halved orange was served on the plate with the Pad Thai, generating the illusion of a large serving. When our waiter, cleared the table, I asked why the Pad Thai was made with Italian noodles? The waiter responded that this was the decision of the owners. I then asked where the owners were from and waiter replied, China and Korea. Upon leaving the restaurant, the female manager, blond hair, asked if we enjoyed the meal. I responded that we didn't care for any of the food, especially the Pad Thai with Linguine noodles. She immediately, angrily, said the noodles were rice! I challenged her assertion, suggesting she was misrepresenting the noodles, spicy Tuna roll, and that her attitude of demeaning and insulting her guests was a sure recipe for failure! She then, showing a rude and arrogant lack of respect, turned and walked away. I am in the wine business, where taste, quality, integrity of the product, and client respect is MANDATORY! Understanding flavor, aroma, balance and pairing appropriate wines with food is mandatory for a successful dining experience. My fear is that our waiter will be reprimanded or punished for speaking truthfully. Where's Robert Irvine when he's needed? read more

We went for dinner as a family and the food was good. 3 of us shared sushi rolls and another had appetizers. The seaweed salad is enough to split between 2 people. The chicken kabobs on the appetizer menu that comes with peanut sauce...wouldn't recommend those. The peanut sauce had the consistency of actual peanut butter and tasted exactly like peanut butter, a little strange we thought. Great place to eat, love the food! But I placed an order over the phone, everything was great then I wanted to add something to my order I called right back. The lady I previously placed the order with answered and I told her id like to add something to my order. She told me to hold on a min, then in the background she started talking about me that she cant deal with this girl right now and was saying to someone that I placed an order over the phone and paid with a card. I immediately hung up the phone called back talked to the manager, turns out it was the same person. She explained herself, I appreciated the apology but if you are a manager I feel she should have explained that she was a little busy and to hold on a few mins or say she was going to hand me over to someone else to get it taken care of. In the end I cancelled my order because she got offend and I didn't feel she was being a professional like a manager should have been. Great food and even better service! Ordered the Hama Roll which was amazing. It was advertised as spicy but it turned out not spicy at all. Mom ordered the dragon roll which had an amazing assortment of fish on it. Brother ordered the thai chicken fried rice which was quite tasty with a great chicken to vegetable to rice ratio. Our waitress was also very helpful with the menu and was overall a nice lady. A great spot for dinner or lunch! read more

Nozawa is amazing! It is definitely not a high class or fine dining sushi place but if you are in the valley and looking for a good meal and to be treated well, Nozawa is the place to go. The owner is often times behind the bar preparing the sushi for guests and makes sure everyone is. We go here once a week and have never left unhappy.. 1/2 all rolls and entrees during the off season (non-ski season) is awesome. Basic rolls are great and what you would expect. But your Crab entree was just terrible - like egg drop soup with some pieces of crab. You should charge less for such a bland terrible dish or let people know the sauce you cook with the crab is not spiced. Too much money for what you get. Maybe just a few changes and you guys will be what you seem. Yummy sushi rolls though, stick to those! read more

I have been going to Nozawa for a year and a half, as I live in Avon, and the last two times I have been were very disappointing. This last time was almost an unbelievable experience. Our waitress yelled at our table for her mistakes. When she brought soup out to us AFTER our sushi had been eaten (we assumed she forgot about the soup all together, turns out she just forget until we were full) we said we were not interested in the soup anymore she told us, "Then just take it home or something bc if you don't then I HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. YOU AREN"T ALLOWED TO MAKE MISTAKES HERE." It was extremely uncomfortable for everyone at the table. She gave terrible service to begin with and her attitude was even more unbelievable. When she brought the check, she had left the soup on alothough with an alcohlic beverage we never received. We asked her to fix the check and this is when I decided I will not go back as long as they have this kind of service. She yelled at our table of 8 telling us, "You are ridiculous! This is not my problem." She argued with one of the people at the table for a good 2 minutes before I stepped in and said, "I think it's your attitude that's the problem please get us a manager." She replied with, "I don't have an attitude problem you all are the problem. There's no manager her and she would agree with me!" I was literally apalled as I work in a restaurant, and would have been fired on the spot no questions asked if this occured. We made a comment about her adding 18% tip to our bill and she came over out of her way to tell us that was a favor to us as we wouldn't have to pay the full amount. I'm sorry, since when is 20% required, bc if I would have been able to leave a tip according to service, it would have been absolutely nothing. So sad, bc I use to love this place, it's great food, but I would never again pay to be yelled at. Absolutely no excuse for this young lady's attitude. I have been going to Nozawa consistently since I moved out to Avon, CO. Coming from Fl you are always coming across great sushi restaurants so finding this local spot was a good find HOWEVER, after going there this last time it was the WORST dining experience I have ever had in my LIFE. Take nothing away from the sushi chefs and their work cause its amazing. It was the atmosphere immediately sitting down that was awkward as all hell. We didn't have one server come up to us after 10 min of sitting there. Shoutout to WALTER for being a great greeter with the water, him and the SUSHI CHEFS were the only ones that made us feel semi-comfortable. The chefs had to ask us for our order after we already gave it to two servers. Right when we got our food our Sake and one beer finally arrived missing the wine which i had to ask for a THIRD time until I received it. I wish I had an extra page to right about the manager... HERE WE GO! She was extremely rude, talked to us like children like we just wanted stuff for free. She wouldn't comp our drinks, only discounted them, tried to also argue with me about the wine degrading me asking if it was bad, and saying she would take it from me if I would like... obviously that wasn't happening cause I needed it to deal with the whole situation. We weren't getting anywhere with talking to her so we got a minimal discounted bill, immediately got to-go boxes, and left. NEVER WILL WE GO BACK, AND NEVER WILL WE RECOMMEND TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO FEEL LIKE ALIENS! If only they had a negative star rating.. read more

Horrible customer service. Attempted to place a carryout order for over $60 in food. They compelled me to pay in advance because it was a large order. I went to the restaurant to pick up my order and was told they had no order under my name. Turns out I placed my order with the WRONG Nozawa. Apparently there are two, one in Avon and one in Dillon nearly 45 minutes away. Based on a Google Map search, the Dillon Nozawa listed the Avon Nozawa website! This has since been corrected thanks to me. I was told that I was not allowed to cancel my order and to take it up with my credit card company. My credit card company was no help so I attempted 4 different times to reach out to the Avon location via their website and via phone. No one would call me back or reply to my email. As a tourist, I had no idea there were two, unrelated Nozawas within an hour of one another. You'd think the people who take phone orders would confirm which location you're picking up from. Very bad customer service. I don't care how good their sushi is, I will never go back there and will tell any friends travelling to the area to avoid the Avon Nozawa at all costs. read more
