I work down the street from here. I never used to frequent a nugget store, but lately, because of where I work, I have been coming here for many of my lunches, or on the nights I'm working bell to bell, I've come for snacks. This nugget is smaller than the one on covell, but it's nicely stocked, and has plenty of lunch options for those who like variety. I have tried plenty of their sandwiches, cold dishes, and warm dishes, as well as their sushi. And the sushi is the only reason this place is getting one less star, for the quality of sushi here is inferior to the ones you can get from the Covell location. The staff are friendly and helpful, they always make me feel very welcome, and on one occasion where I had problems with my card, they were very patient, and even saved my bill and what I had shopped for so that I could go take care of my problem and come back. I love nugget. I grew up shopping at the one in Woodland with my mom, and when I was 16 I started working at this one in Davis. While I was working there I even got 2nd place in a bag off... DORK. Anyway. Nugget is just as cheap as most other stores... I know, Ive done a price comparision. It has the best of both worlds: all the unique gourmet type stuff like whole foods, and all the junk food like safeway. If I go to whole foods or Trader Joe's I often have to stop somewhere else to buy my cheezits. You get me? I now live in SF & stop at nugget at least once everytime I'm visiting mom. We went here around 5:10 p.m. on 12/19/2020 to pick up some nasal spray. On the way out, we accidentally dropped the bottle. The staff at the counter were very helpful in quickly cleaning up the broken glasses and the spilling liquid. My boyfriend went back in to get another bottle and was told by the cashier it was free as a replacement due to the accident. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. One of my checkers Brandon, was fantastic with the mother and two young children in front of me checking her groceries and talking to her with her first name. He was so great with the children too. Another time the same checker saw me struggling to pick out a wine and we chatted briefly about the selection nugget had as well as the seasonal varieties they selected through various vineyards. Ended up picking a few Cabernets that were big hits and a Chardonnay my wife loved! He made a big impression on me. All I can say is the staff is fantastic and I will be coming to nugget for all of my wine selection! read more

I happen to really appreciate this Nugget because the staff is always really friendly and there is rarely much of a wait in the check out line. A bonus feature is that when a new line does open up, the cashier directly leads the person who is next in line to the new line. This bypasses the unfairness of the last person in line getting into the new line first. Friendly staff are also around to help you find your items. In my case (vertically challenged) they will reach up to get things for you on the top shelf. The store may be smaller with less options than the one on Covell but it is for the above reasons (and because it's really close to where I live) that I prefer to shop here. Also, I love that they expanded their organic grocery section. One thing that would make it even better (Nugget management, are you listening?)is if they had an ice cream stand in the store (or set up outside the store) where you can buy a scoop on a cone right at that counter. I was craving Baklava. My friend and I first went to check out a cafe in downtown Davis but they were closed. It was Sunday. Then she remembered Nugget has them! We took the back roads to the store and parking was a plenty. We walked in and the produce section was in the middle of the store. That was different. You immediately are smacked in the face with all the freshness. Good concept! Kites "in motion" hung from the ceilings, and clouds and a beautiful blue sky like in some Las Vegas shops made you feel like you were outside. We went straight back to the bakery where all sorts of deliciousnesses screamed at you to "EAT ME!" I ordered 4 baklavas - two for me, two my bf. My friend ordered a slice of Tiramisu and a Raspberry Ganache topped cheesecake. We headed for the cashier lines and while in waiting, I looked down and saw a big plastic canister of granola. Mmmm. For only $3.35!!! Amazing. A half cup of packaged crushed nuts I bought earlier in the week to make for a cake was $2. Oh yeah, I'm buying this granola. My friend wanted one too but she went back to get yogurt. Where I went back to get more cake mix. The cashier was friendly as well as the lady at the bakery counter. Love this place. read more

This Nugget is a smaller and older store than the Nugget on Covell, but it still has the same Nugget charm. I usually come to this Nugget store since it's closer to my house. They have fresh produce and a wide array of fish and meats. I usually shop at Nugget if they have chicken, produce, or some Crystal Geyser 1 gallon bottles on sale! The staff is very friendly and asks if you need any help. Since less people come to this Nugget store, parking is plentiful and easier to leave the shopping area. I love the Nugget. I loved them for the seven years I lived in Davis and I still go there from time to time if I'm near one (Davis, West Sac, etc.). On all of their products that you can find in any grocery store, they are comparably priced (they do surveys all the time to prove it!). People perceive them as a higher-priced market because of nice their appearance is and how seemingly sophisticated their ready sections are (Cheese, deli, bakery, etc.). Yes, you will spend more if you go into their fancy cheese section (but not as much as somewhere else if they actually had the fancy cheeses) but Cheetos and Coco-cola cost the same. THey prepare so much of their stuff in-house, as well- for instance, their sausages are made in-house fresh, in a variety of types, and relatively inexpensive ($4 for 2-3 links). Honestly, its like going to a Whole Foods but they're still technically small business (less than a dozen stores) so you'll feel less guilty about shopping there, not to mention I've heard they take great care of their empoyees and their employees take great care of you! I highly recommend going to any of the Nuggets for wine- they have a great selection and always someone on duty to tell you about the wines they carry. read more

I love the Nugget! And it's so nice to have one in Davis to go to. The workers are so nice and helpful and they have a wide variety of food, drinks, and groceries. They also have somewhat of a cheese expert come in and let you try different types of cheese. AMAZING. My biggest love is the sandwiches. (I don't know if they still have it but Campus Coupons had a buy one get one free). BUT, their sandwich makers are awesome and take their time with your order and their bread is to die for. The prices are alittle high sometimes but the staff is great . They remembered my mom had just passed awaway. They gave me flowers when i went to her funeral . I love this place. They have everything; they just do not have enormous quantities of everything. Their prices are usually comparable to the Safeway off of Cowell. Their service is great. However, they do not have travel size items. You are better off going to Target for that anyway, though. They also have a fantastic craft beer selection. Went here to grab some food while I waited for my car to get serviced around the corner at Hanlees. Pretty good grab and go section with prepackaged items. Although this lacks some of the selection at the Covell location. Everything looks really fresh, and my prepackaged salad was pretty good quality. All of the experiences I've had at pretty much all Nugget Markets have been amazing. Great food and amazing service- until last week. I was waiting for my husband by the movie rental box while he was rung up. The bagger from the line he was originally in followed him to a shorter line (he was purchasing a single item so obviously needed help bagging...) hit on him aggressively and asked him if she could "dance for him". This is the smaller Nugget in town so there are a tad fewer options than the other Nugget, however it still has everything you need. The employees here are fantastic (always helpful)! The wine selection is wonderful and extensive for the size of the grocery store. The parking is easier here than the other Nugget or any other grocery store in Davis. read more

the nugget is widely known for their gourmet sandwiches. even with so much hype and propaganda, i was not disappointed. the first sandwich i ordered was customized purely by myself. although i may not have picked the most complimentary ingredients to wedge between my marble rye, i have to say that their aioli sauce made up for it. on my second excursion, i shared 2 different sandwiches with my roommate (a hUge nugget deli connoisseur) we both had a half of the pork ham and turkey ham... i'm not sure what all the ingredients were but it was clearly evident that they use only the freshest cheeses and vegetables. very delicious. on service, they have it all; fun, courteous, and attractive. if you ever find yourselve mesmerized with their expansive selectiobn of choices, just ask for their preferences.. it's always going to be good! read more

My first time at this Nugget, as I typically go to the one on Covell. Smaller, but still a nice selection. I am always impressed by the level of customer service at Nugget Markets. Really top-notch. It may be surprising that my favorite sandwiches in Davis come from a grocery store, but the variety and quality can't be beat. I ordered a build-your-own ham and cheese on croissant and was pleasantly surprised that there was no up-charge for a croissant. $6.99 for lunchtime satisfaction. Primarily I came for their outstanding 50% off bulk bin deal, a two-day special offered to email subscribers. I definitely recommend signing up for their email list to get weekly coupons. While I can't afford to make Nugget my primary grocery store, I'll gladly patronize them as often as I can for surprisingly good specials, sandwiches, and specialty goods. Plus their company donates produce to the UC Davis "Fruit and Veggie Up." Just one way they give back to the community. read more
