If you're ethnic Chinese/Asian looking for true Taiwanese food that'll give you a ratatouille moment, this isn't it. We went on a weekend late night dinner and the place was decently full. We were the only Asians there and the rest of the patrons were Westerners. That should tell you everything you need to know. Ambiance and service was 5/5. Very clean, hip restaurant in a safe part of Seattle. Perfect for a date. More than half of the wait staff was Chinese as were all the kitchen staff from what we could tell, so if you spoke mainly Chinese, you'd be fine and they would be familiar with Taiwanese food. Portion sizes are smaller and pricing matches, respectfully, so you can try different things. I'd say as an adult, you could order a couple plates and you'd be more than full. Food was 3.5-4. Sorry, I can't confidently rate it any higher than a 4. We had to try the beef noodle soup 3.5/5. Broth was good. Vegetables were romaine lettuce which wasn't authentic, but fine. Beef was definitely on the leaner side and definitely tougher (maybe because it was so lean), so maybe this was to cater to western tastes? Noodles were ok... too similar to ramen for our tastes... and that was a comment several of us made, independently. Onion pancake was 3.5/5. Meh, nothing too exciting. Beef sandwich was a dud. 2.5/5. Skip. It was like they took an onion pancake and used it for the roll/skin... pretty oily. Vegetables were just chopped lettuce. No cucumbers or cilantro from my memory, but it's been a few days so maybe I'm not remembering correctly. We also had different xao-long baos (they only had one pork left), cold peanut butter/cucumber noodles, dumplings, spicy cold cucumbers... and they were all 3.5-4ish. Nothing crazy. In the end, again, if you're looking to just get a broad taste of Taiwanese food, this is it. If you're looking to get a genuine taste of Taiwan, this isn't it.

I ordered a beef salad, chicken satay, and a side of rice. The dine-in menu I was given did not list any prices, which I found unusual, but I didn't think to ask before ordering. When I received the bill, the beef salad was $25, the chicken satay was $15, and the side of rice was $5. The chicken satay is listed online for $10 before tax, so I was surprised to be charged $15. The final total was significantly more than I expected for these three items. I regularly order these same types of dishes at other Thai restaurants and typically spend under $40. I would have been perfectly fine paying more if the prices had been clearly posted, but being presented with significantly higher prices after ordering left me feeling taken advantage of. My advice to future customers: ask for the price of every item before ordering, especially if the menu doesn't show prices. Again, the food was good, but the pricing transparency needs serious improvement. I hope the restaurant addresses this because customers should know what they're going to be charged before they order.

Solid 3.5/5. Food…read more(2.5-4/5). We had 4 grilled pork vermicelli with egg rolls, 1 pho tai with beef meatballs, and 1 spring rolls. Vermicelli was a 3.5 as it was fresh and a good serving (4) but the grilled pork was on the cooler side and didn't taste as crisp and fresh off the grill as you'd expect (3). Best part of the pho was the broth as it wasn't too salty like it can be sometimes elsewhere (4). Veggies were super fresh. Sliced beef was previously sliced and the whole chunk was placed in so you had to tease apart the slices from each other which was a little different than my experiences elsewhere. SKIP THE SPRING ROLLS. Picture had three shrimps/roll. Ours had 1/roll on one side with a slice of pork (I think) on the other. Seemed pretty skimpy if you ask me (2.5 at best). Service was good (4). Location was in a small strip mall with a Mexican and Indian place next door. The bars over nearly the entire front storefront were definitely interesting. For an out-of-towner, this part of Kent seems like a Santa Ana/Westminister/Garden Grove of OC, CA kind of an area with different ethnic offerings up and down the street.

Tried spicy beef noodle, a mala dry pot ("fried pot") with an assortment of protein and veggies as well as twice cooked pork with rice cakes. There is one hardworking chef in the back and dishes come out one at a time but fresh and hot. The flavor was very tasty on all of the dishes (the spicy beef noodle was not necessarily what I expected though - it was more in a hot oil than a broth but the noodles were chewy and tasty). I really enjoyed the twice cooked pork with rice cakes - the pork was crispy and flavorful and rice cakes were perfectly chewy. The dry pot was also very tasty with a assortment of different things added (including mushrooms, fungi, different meats, tripe, etc) and was a huge portion. We had plenty of leftovers for the two of us.

My issue was the sanitary aspect or shall I say the lack there of. I mean it's one thing to see a couple hairs on the floor ya know but wow the amount of hair and debris in the floor looked like they hadn't cleaned in weeks. There was a a whole clump of hair under our table and hair hanging from the chairs. I dropped my daughter's blanket on the floor and my husband picked it up and he it had a pubic hair on it. The tables were not wiped off and the bathroom was a disaster zone. I mean if this is what they think their customers should deal with can you imagine what the kitchen looks like. The food was ok but I'm gonna be honest it's not something I would pay for again when there are other options that at least care enough about their customers that they actually keep the place clean and sanitize. I won't come back but if you don't mind eating in those conditions then it's your choice.
