Chilaquiles
Phoebe F.

Friendly, family-owned restaurant with a variety of options. The owner greeted us as we entered and guided us to our table. My partner had the chilaquiles with the verde sauce. Our son had the Torta Cubana. I went with the Hangover omelette. The service was prompt and the food came out shortly. After just having some of the best chilaquiles a couple days before, my partner was equally impressed. Our son recently became a fan of this particular torta and carried on and on about the juicy, flavorful pork. Mine took up half the plate and was enjoyable. What was not eaten then was devoured the next morning. My family and I will visit again next time in town.

The 25% off
Jason S.

Food was ok, nothing to write home about. One of the drink menus shows 25% off when you post a certain brand of drinks, but what it does NOT say is the 25% off is for your next VISIT. So, if you are there for a vaca or passing through don't bother asking or expecting the 25% off, however of you are a local or a regular... then get that 25% off. Again, the food was ok.

Cilantro soup, so good and creamy!

Mom and I were looking for something away from the hustle and bustle of Main Street. I found this had high ratings and we jumped on it. When we approached it, I told Mom "we may get the stink eye for being out of town folks since this is not in the main touristy area". We walk in and it was 180 from that. We were immediately greeted as if we were old friends by one of the family members that owns the place. Come to find out these folks have been running restaurants and in Fredericksburg for 20+ years. The wife, Nury, is the owner and brilliant chef. The husband is the head of hospitality, which after being around him for ten minutes... I get it. It's clearly his calling to make people feel welcome and comfortable. We had the cilantro soup first and a "cup" is actually a healthy size bowl! It was delicious!! We also had the fish tacos and a delicious grilled chicken on fresh greens salad with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. This family knows how to cook and make a wonderful impression. We will be back!

Out of towner who eats here once or twice a year. The place is awesome. Really. Name something. It's good. Cuban? Yep. The various egg plates for breakfast? Yep. Chicken-fried steak? Yup. Burger? Pancakes? Benedicts? Yep, yep, and yep. Go here!

Hangover Omelette

Wonderful "Hangover" omelette! Spicy, very well cooked, and stuffed with all kinds of goodness. Fast and super friendly service. Easy in and out. Highly recommend.

We're always on the lookout for hidden gems when we travel, and this spot absolutely delivered. The chilaquiles and the hangover omelette were both standouts. It's definitely a place we'll be returning to next time we're in the area.

Upon arrival we were greeted by Eric (who was also our server) and told we could choose our table. We chose a table near the front of the restaurant and looked over our menus while we waited to take our order. The place itself is an older restaurant, clean and comfortable. I ordered a standard 2 egg breakfast with toast and potatoes and sausage. The restaurant itself was quite busy and Eric was hustling as he was the only server at that time. He was upbeat and friendly and never made us feel rushed. Our food took about 15 minutes to arrive. The eggs and potatoes were hot and cooked to order. If I were in the area again I would definitely go to try other menu options. Thank you Eric for your excellent service.

Good breakfast in a nice atmosphere with good service and a great family run business. Sauces on the meal and sides tasted homemade, my favorite was the green sauce, chips were crispy and eggs over medium cooked perfectly. I would recommend this fine restaurant!

Service 10/10. order came out wrong after 25 minute wait. Waitress apologized. Asked for sauce on side because I knew ranchero sauce would make chips very soggy. Good flavor, but couldn't get past soggy chips. Did they additional chips. She did ask I wanted new plate but I said no because we didn't have time to wait another 30. Husbands fruit had mold on grapes and strawberries. Husbands eggs Benedict were over poached eggs and little sauce but good flavor. Home fries/ potatoes had zero flavor.

Fried Plantains

Quality food, quality service! Very delicious. Amazing fish and chips. We had dinner here after being recommended. They gave us complimentary fried plantain dessert. Can't wait to come back to try brunch!

Ravioli tasting ranchero sauce

Ranchero sauce taste like raviolis. Nothing Authentic!!! At all Nothing is homemade at all. Coffee taste like Maxville house weak and keep in a thermos lukewarm at best if there not busy. not sure how this place ever got to number one breakfast. They must have a lot of friends running Yelp. Disappointed

We went here with some good friends who live in Fredericksburg. The recommended it because it's is not always overrun with tourists, and is in a great location. I liked that it was easy to access, so much so that I didn't need my wheelchair. We were able to be conveniently seated next to a power outlet for my oxygen machine. In fact, there were a few tables not far from electrical outlets. The food and service were outstanding. The waitress was very friendly, and took our orders right away. She was friendly and kept the chips and salsa coming. They were quite good. The food came quickly enough that I didn't kill my appetite with the chips. My husband had a burger with bacon and egg, topped by a jalapeno and French fries. He loved it. I had the eggs Benedict. The Hollandaise sauce was very good, and tasted like it was made right there, not reconstituted. The eggs were poached to perfection, and the ham with thin sliced and not fatty. The hash browns were some of the best I've ever had. The menu has a wide variety of food, so there is something for everyone. I intend to eat here again the next time I'm up there in Fredericksburg.

Vibe is euro-bistro and the staff is perfectly attentive. Prices are high, but honestly aligned to the quality of the food, at least the dishes we had were worth the prices. Food: Buttermilk Fried Chicken, with Onion/Bacon flash fried collard greens, whipped potatoes and house gravy and Jalapeno Cornbread for $32 Reuben on Marble Rye for $24 16oz Stella Artois for $10 We agreed that the fried chicken (5/5) was the best we could remember having. Whipped potatoes (5/5) were light, fluffy and perfect taste/texture. The gravy was like brown butter (5/5). The collard greens (5/5) were flash fried and if you've never had them like this, it's like eating collard green potato chips. Cornbread (3/4) was a bit too delicate and sweet for our taste. You couldn't pick it up without it falling apart. The Ruben (3/5). My wife loves a good Ruben sandwich. This one had the makings of a good one, but they use a Thousand Island sauce (too much of it) on the sandwich, and it hides the flavor of the meat. Next time we would ask for the sandwich without the TI sauce, see if that improves the rating. The sandwich came with house made potato chips (5/5), a small house salad with vinaigrette (5/5) and a large, pickled cucumber. I know, that's a pickle, but these are cucumbers that have gone maybe a third of the way through the process, so the cucumber taste is really prevalent. Lastly, we had the Creme Brulé (3/5) for dessert. It was nice, but the custard was coffee and caramel flavored, and we prefer the standard custard look and flavor. The caramel should come from the top layer, not the custard. The top layer was a bit too thick as well. We liked it, just didn't love it. Overall, quality food, service and vibe with prices that are aligned to more special occasions than everyday eating out. We'll be back to try the Monday Crawfish Etoufee and the Tuesday Duck Confit daily specials...look too good to pass up.

Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

Right away, the service felt off. Our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted drinks before jumping straight to, "Are you ready to order food?" Then she disappeared for long periods, even though we were basically her only table besides one other couple. The food was extremely underwhelming -- basic, barely warm, and nothing memorable. On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.

Not only was it the first restaurant to show up on Yelp (very highly rated), but also it was OPEN. While it may have been an accident that we chose Otto's, it was a lucky break. They were awesome. It was very busy, so we had to eat on the patio, but our table had plenty of shade and a nice breeze from a wall fan. It's a block off the main drag, so you don't have to put up with lots of traffic going by. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food didn't take too long to come out. The selections were fairly extensive. The food quality, portion sizes and flavor were spot on. We also highly recommend the Black Forest cake.

It's great the way it is, and trying to make it fancy doesn't make it better. But I've always thought that if a restaurant has only a few options on its menu, they had better all be great, and I didn't find that to be the case at Otto's. One of us had the schnitzel au gratin, which seemed more to be like a chicken Parmesan. I had the duck schnitzel. I would say they were just both OK. The fried potatoes that came with the au gratin schnitzel were left largely untouched on my companion's plate. There wasn't much flavor to my red cabbage, and my spaetzel seemed to be more like a modern day risotto. And this at a restaurant that makes you leave your credit card for a reservation and threatens to charge if you cancel less than 24 hours before. For that, it had better knock my socks off. But my socks are still on, and they won't be walking back to Otto's. Extra star for the great location.

After a brief wait, we were greeted by our waiter and he took our drinks. In good time the waiter was back with drinks and he took our order. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelette. It came with potatoes and toast. The wife ordered the plate with eggs over easy, crispy bacon, and potatoes. The wife and I sat and had a nice visit. We should not have drank our drinks so fast, as they stayed empty the entire time we visited. Our waiter not once made eye contact so we could get a refill either. After an average wait time, our food came. Our waiter noticed the drinks and then refilled them. My omelette was undercooked and watery, the cheese was not melted, and the bacon was chewy. Furthermore, the toast was also very dry. I would have gotten butter to put on them, but the waiter never came back to check on us. The wife's eggs were cooked over hard, the bacon was rubbery, and very underwhelming. Our drinks went empty and we never got refills, again. We paid the bill and went shopping. I was glad to get out of there. I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews, but I think they missed the mark here. ChatGPT did me dirty on this one.
