After a recommendation we were eager to try this restaurant while visiting Fredericksburg. The ambiance was charming and the restaurant smelled great as we walked in. Apparently they were roasting garlic!! I had chicken fried steak and my husband had the fried seafood platter. Both were delicious and the service was good. A wonderful stop on our travels through Texas.

Quaint little place. Fish was good. Gumbo was outstanding. Service could have been better.

The food is always amazing! The shrimp was huge and cooked perfectly ( if you know, you know). The sides were a veg medley of quash and carrots, and the other side was seasoned roasted potatoes. Just remember they close at 2. Also, this is a place where you come and enjoy a drink, a long afternoon chat, and amazing food.... The waiter was amazing, as well as the owner feeding us even though they had closed for the day. I love the decor and have been here many times. I highly recommend it.

Dining area with corner band area.

Very eclectic. An old place .. looks run down from the outside walk in and it's another world. The old time feel. A big comfortable thrown together..like grandmas kitchen meets granddads man cave type of vibe. Kinda pricy .. very fresh though.. did the daily special and found the perfect tarter sauce. Everything was good service was nice.

First time at Vaudeville. Vibe is euro-bistro and the staff is perfectly attentive. Prices are high, but honestly aligned to the quality of the food, at least the dishes we had were worth the prices. Food: Buttermilk Fried Chicken, with Onion/Bacon flash fried collard greens, whipped potatoes and house gravy and Jalapeno Cornbread for $32 Reuben on Marble Rye for $24 16oz Stella Artois for $10 We agreed that the fried chicken (5/5) was the best we could remember having. Whipped potatoes (5/5) were light, fluffy and perfect taste/texture. The gravy was like brown butter (5/5). The collard greens (5/5) were flash fried and if you've never had them like this, it's like eating collard green potato chips. Cornbread (3/4) was a bit too delicate and sweet for our taste. You couldn't pick it up without it falling apart. The Ruben (3/5). My wife loves a good Ruben sandwich. This one had the makings of a good one, but they use a Thousand Island sauce (too much of it) on the sandwich, and it hides the flavor of the meat. Next time we would ask for the sandwich without the TI sauce, see if that improves the rating. The sandwich came with house made potato chips (5/5), a small house salad with vinaigrette (5/5) and a large, pickled cucumber. I know, that's a pickle, but these are cucumbers that have gone maybe a third of the way through the process, so the cucumber taste is really prevalent. Lastly, we had the Creme Brulé (3/5) for dessert. It was nice, but the custard was coffee and caramel flavored, and we prefer the standard custard look and flavor. The caramel should come from the top layer, not the custard. The top layer was a bit too thick as well. We liked it, just didn't love it. Overall, quality food, service and vibe with prices that are aligned to more special occasions than everyday eating out. We'll be back to try the Monday Crawfish Etoufee and the Tuesday Duck Confit daily specials...look too good to pass up.

Service With a Smile - Hitchin Post Steakhouse…read more If you're ever in Fredericksburg, TX make sure to stop by Hitchin Post Steakhouse. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and seated quickly. Our waitress, Toyna, was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and made us feel welcome throughout the entire meal. We started with the Cajun-style onion rings--thinly sliced, perfectly crispy, and served with a side of ranch. They were absolutely delicious. For our entrées, we both ordered the All-American cheeseburger with fries, and they were outstanding. The burgers were juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right, while the fries were hot and crispy. I'd easily give the meal a 9 out of 10. I paired mine with a local stout from Altstadt Brewing Company, which complemented the burger perfectly. My significant other ordered the iced tea, and you could actually taste the tea leaves--fresh, smooth, and one of the best restaurant teas we've had. Before leaving, we asked Toyna what dessert she recommended. Without hesitation, she suggested the made-to-order peach pie, and we're glad we listened. It arrived piping hot with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, topped with homemade whipped cream, and paired perfectly with a cup of fresh black coffee. The combination was incredible. The peach pie was a 10 out of 10, and one serving is more than enough for two people to share. This restaurant gets a whopping 9.5 out of 10. Great food, outstanding service, and an experience that reminded us why locally owned restaurants are often the best. If you're visiting Fredericksburg, Hitchin Post Steakhouse is well worth the stop. We'll definitely be back. Next up their 14oz ribeye, see y'all soon. Ernie P.

First course was crab lobster cakes. They looked over cooked but tasted pretty good. Next I had the French onion soup. It smelled of burnt cheese when they put it in front of me. But once I got passed that, the souo was good. Hubby enjoyed his cesar salad. I ordered surf and turf with risoto and broccolini. The bacon wrapped shrimp was also very charred and steak was very very salty. It was however cooked to order. If you like a lot of salt then you may like it. The risoto and broccolini were good. Hubbys rib eye was rare (mooing) just like he likes it. He enjoyed the seasonal vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes. Desert is made to order so it took about 30 minutes after order to get it. But it was worth it! The wild blueberry pie was the best part of the meal. It was a large handpie stuffed with these flavorful wild blueberries and ice cream on the side. We were full but managed to eat the whole thing! 8'oclock is when the music starts in the saloon. If you want a nice quiet romantic dinner then definitely go before 8. The music was very loud. In the saloon it was way too loud so we didn't stay for the band.
