UPDATE: STAY AWARE FROM SMART THERMOSTAT. Rather than argue with NV energy about why my bill was going up since the smart thermostat install when it shouldn't have been... I decided to just go back to a regular thermostat. Since they offer the service to remove if unhappy I called to schedule removal and that's when the nightmare began again. It took me having a massive panic attack and screaming to get it removed in less than 3 weeks. They had no problem getting it put on right away but good forbid you want it off. Oh wait for it and 24 hrs after you schedule the removal you lose control of the thermostat through the app or internet so it can ONLY be controlled manually ( which I never really figured out how to do). Didn't know that would happen. I thought after the removal is what the tech meant NOPE!! Meanwhile I have 2 days until they come and remove this thermostat. I have 4 furbabies and god forbid NOTHING better happen to them. NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE THE BEGINNING: In the beginning...my thermostat not installed on time and it wasn't even installed properly. Day wasted waiting. I struggled just to figure out how to have air/fan through the waiting for them to come out again. They get it on and I sort of understand how to with it. Then the bill starts rising more and more. The projected bill was outrageous and of course ZERO savings since it was still learning my tempatures the app says. Another issue: The thermostat will tell me outside is anywhere for 10-13 colder outside then inside my house and yet wants to keep my house at the scheduled temp. Ummm. Wait so it can charge me more. Common sense if it's colder outside it shouldn't still be got inside. I've had issues with the app and so much more. After much screaming and yelling....... Very much a shame that I was straight up just told over the phone that there's nothing they can do for me. The 1-star is for the customer service as the gentleman was nice on the phone. But that's about the extent of the satisfaction I have from this company. They seek and offer NO alternative to assist their clients. My precious A/C thermostat was programmed to very high temperatures. I can't have it at 80 degrees during the summer. I called and attempted to see if something could be done virtually, through software, or if I could personally take apart the thermostat and program it. I was told there was absolutely nothing i could do and a technician MUST come do it, probably to try and up sell crap. So I now, during the pandemic, have to sit in 115 degree weather potentially,.. and not be able to control my own air. DESPICABLE. Not having a very pleasant experience in dealing with NVEnergy for getting my new solar system inspected. They need to get into my garage to inspect the breaker but they won't say when they are going to come. What do they expect? Leave my garage open while I'm at work? Don't think I can do that! The solar panels have been on my roof for almost 2 months now. Called NVEnergy and and they told me I have to email them, that is the only form of communication they will accept. So I did and they are telling me that the first available return inspection will be the second week in October from 7:30am to 3:00pm. Awaiting for a confirmation and then we'll see if everything passes. Now I get to miss a day of work to sit here and wait for them to get her NVEnergy is a business and ALL they are concerned with is making that 3grand a year from ME. Worst service ever!!!!!! Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Program is completely a scam! would give a negative start if I can. Right before purchasing the charger on the list, made 3 phone calls to make sure there are still open spaces for the application, and I got the answer that it was more than 60% of spaces were open. submitted the application within 1 day. Did not get any response back under 24 days later to require to upload more docs. but didn't give me any access to upload for more than 2 weeks. Email sent, phone called. then by the time I get my access, the program is over! My friends submitted at the same time and got updates within 5 days. but my took over 1 month? then you tell me it's "first come first served"? similar to my 2 solar programs, took more than 6 months to complete. Just because they are the only power provider in the NV? Don't even bother to talk about the long waiting time on customer service calls. there is no customer service! they are trading themself as the king of power! read more

Recently, I left Nevada and moved back to Wisconsin. I called well in advance for a power shut off at my old location and was told it would be taken care of. I gave them a forwarding address yet never got a final bill from them. I called back several weeks later again requesting my final bill. When I got it I noticed that I had been charged for days past my requested cut off date. I called them back and advised the agent of this who agreed with me that I should not have been charged for those days and she would look into it and send me out an updated bill but that another bill had been sent and to disregard it and wait for the updated bill, so that is what I did. Then a couple of weeks later I finally got another bill but when I opened it it was a letter stating; "during your recent move, it appears that you closing utility bill may have been overlooked." (it still showed the extra days on it) I was like what the heck so I called them only to have an automated system tell me that my account was overdue and had been sent to collections. SERIOUSLY? I called the collection's number that was given to me by the automated NV Energy system and it was routed to a Dollar Loan Store. They confirmed that that number I dialed was not their number and that they had been getting several of the NV Energy calls. So, I got back on the phone to NV Energy and this time I got to speak to an actual person. She told me that she couldn't do anything about the extra days as it can take up to 5 days to disconnect service at a location and that I had been made aware of that. I had NEVER been told that and told her to go back and listen to the call recording. She proceeded to argue with me about it. I told her that I did NOT want this showing up on my credit report and she told me there was nothing she could do about that either. I would just have to pay the bill immediately and hope that it didn't show up on my credit report. When I asked her to talk to a manager about it she blew me off. Are you freaking kidding me?!?!?! I had also told her about the call for the collections company being rerouted to a Dollar Loan Store and she didn't even seem to care about that. The only thing she wanted was for me to pay my bill. When I said "FINE" I'll pay it she said she couldn't take my payment and I'd have to do it through the automated system, she wasn't allowed to take payments. WTH!!! She's been nagging me for payment and then can't even take it. She then puts me on a crazy long hold and when she finally comes back says she will transfer me. Come on lady, you just told me you would transfer me so I guess she was "punishing me" or something. In addition, due to the move and all the expenses I had incurred plus not having a job, I asked if I could make a payment arrangement and apparently they would rather get no money than to work with people stating they don't do arrangements on closed accounts. I guess I'll skip groceries this month. I paid the bill, INCLUDING THE EXTRA DAYS just so I would never have to deal with them again. Just one more reason I'm glad to be home in Wisconsin where people are actually nice and companies know what true customer service is. read more

They have been going down further and further each and every year.They continually change the date my bill is due and some months like this one, they don't send us a bill saying for some reason ( due to complications) the meter was not read that month, then the following month we owe for 2 months. I have called on many occasions and even spoken to a supervisor, they have no explanation, they do offer that we can make partial payments when they miss a metered month. Gina who works for billing through the customer service line is extremely rude. I was confused on how my billing amount was showing since I enrolled in the program where my bill would be the same every month and there's always a balance showing but never showing there's a previous balance. Gina kept telling me where it shows there's a previous balance and I repeatedly kept telling her that I understood what she was saying but on my end I'm not seeing what she's saying and she literally kept saying the same thing over and over again on what she saw on her screen completely disregarding what I kept telling her I was seeing before me getting frustrated and simply saying ok goodbye and hung up. I think it's ridiculous for someone to keep saying what they see when I'm clearly not seeing that on my screen vs saying I'm not sure why it's showing differently for you at the moment, it could be for this reason or that reason but if you still do not see this on your side tomorrow please give us a call back so we can look into it. The program itself was great provided that you never had an issue with the service and/or equipment because their customer service is worse than Cox Communications. HVAC / Cooling Set at 80 degrees (it hasn't been too warm, yet, in North Las Vegas and is cool enough to sleep at night). Have the NV Energy Power Shift Thermostat. I officially set my Thermostat to Cool Wednesday Night. Beginning Thursday and continuing through to today, Monday, my HVAC system has gone into what I would describe as a "Pre-Cooling Mode" in that, although set at 80 degrees, the system has begun to cool the house to 73 degrees.... all without anyone touching the system to lower the temp from 80 down to 73 ! Because NV Energy has digital control over my Thermostat, I assumed that it was their computer system cooling my home (and wasting my money!). I spoke with them today. They denied it could be them because they don't turn on (start) the energy saving "Pre-cooling" for another two months. Further, they tell me that their system shows that my A/C was not running today (it had run twice for 15+ minutes prior to my first call to them).... implying to me that I did not know what I was talking about. They contacted their Eco Team to double check that all was A-okay with the Eco Energy program settings.... and this came back as it was A-okay. I have them coming out on Thursday to check the system in the house. I'd like some compensation for the HVAC running when I don't want/need it to be running... that's not gonna happen because I have no means to document those instances and their system isn't registering any A/C usage. What a racket. I don't believe that my system, on it's own, is suddenly deciding to cool the house. What I do suspect is that their Power Shift Eco System is sending ghost signals to my Thermostat and running my A/C, wasting my money. The question is, I suppose, do I believe that I have a Casper Ghost in my home or that NV Energy is sending a digital signal to the home system that they have digital control over. If I were to be very suspicious, I'd wonder if this was a sneaky way to generate greater billings for NV Energy. Has anyone else had this experience lately? read more

She put me on "hold" several times and would come back to tell me she talked to her supervisor and again, nothing could be done. I finally askedto speak to a supervisor and within 2 minutes of talking to her, my account was taken care of! What a waste of time to deal with customer service agents. My experience with NV energy is from 2005. Maybe things have changed but my story still must be told. I was a current NV Energy customer and was about to close on a new house. I needed my power transferred to my new home. All of this could be done online seemingly seamlessly. I went online did the transfer and had a confirmation email of all the information, including old/new addresses, account number, and date of transfer. A few weeks passed and I moved into my mew home with no issues. A few months (2-3 I'm not exactly sure) went by and I came home to a power outage in my neighborhood. No big deal, it happens. After 6 or so hours, I noticed the power had come on in my neighborhood to every house but mine. Hmmm, strange. This was on a Saturday. I called NV Energy and told them my situation. Mind you, the person I was talking to was slow and unprofessional from the moment she picked up my call. I spelled my name 4 TIMES, my street name COUNTLESS times and yet this woman couldn't seem to find my account. Finally, I explained the transfer situation and that I had moved in the last few months, she then found my old information. She saw that my account had been closed, paid off, and that was it.....no transfer. She explained there was no account for my current residence and that no power should have been going there since the date the previous owners had moved out. This is where it gets ugly.....I explained that I indeed had been living there for sometime and had power up until the outage that day. She then says that I have been STEALING power and could go to jail for my act of theft!!!!!!!! I realized that I had not yet gotten a bill since my move (other than the final payoff for my previous residence) but at the time thought it was taking longer than normal because of the move and all. In my defense, I explained the transfer I had done online and even gave her a confirmation number which meant nothing because she could not find it. She then went back down the road of telling me I was STEALING POWER! She even said, "I'm not sure how you kept that meter on, but it's illegal." I had been a NV Energy customer for 5 years at this point with not even a late payment in my history and now I'm being accused of stealing power by some random employee because their online transfer system wasn't up to par. By this time, I had been on the phone with this nit wit for about an hour and a half and was getting mighty frustrated. I'll admit, some cuss words passed thru my lips and I asked to speak with a manager. The manager was no better, immediately accusing my of stealing power (cuz I'm such genius and even have a clue how to steal power, lol) further explaining that the power could not be turned on because it was the weekend and even if it were not the weekend, I had to come in person ON MONDAY, prove how long I'd been living at my new home and pay for the power I had used and resolve the matter in person. After that, I could then schedule someone to come turn the power on, which would most likely be A WEEK!!! It was November, and my house was hovering around 50 degrees. Needless to say, I was LIVID! Realizing these numb nuts weren't going to be able to help me and were just going to continue to accuse me of power theft, I got off the phone, stayed with a friend for the weekend and prepared for Monday. Monday came and I went to NV Power only to stand in a massive line comparable to the DMV. When I got about 2 people from the front, an announcement was made that there was some sort of computer glitch with no estimated time to fix. This is AFTER I had already stood in line for 2 hours. I decided to weather the storm because I wasn't giving up my place in line. An hour passed and the gentleman in front of me began passing gas uncontrollably. There was an echo in the building and it sounded like this man had a giant fart machine in his pants and yet he stood there stoic and calm as if nothing was happening. I thought I was dreaming, but no this was my real life....then a loud voice came over the intercom and said the computers were back online. I got called to the counter and asked how I could be helped. I briefly explained and gave the woman my name other information she needed. She pulled up my account, got silent, and gave me a very strange look. She then said, "you said all those things?" Apparently, the only notes that had been taken in my file/account had been of the profanity I had spoken to the nit wit and nit wit manager a few days prior. After explaining it all, the woman said, "jeez, I would have said that too, or even worse!!" She was kind, understanding, and efficient. The complete opposite of what I'd dealt with over the phone. The situation was resolved however the damage had already been done at this point. My power was out for nearly a week, all the food ruined in my fridge, and all the inconveniences of no power, with not a single apology from NV Power. read more

I am elderly and not very computer literate, but i tried to pay on line,but after 24 hours,they had still not taken out of bank account, but since i did not understand it paid my bill again $187.24. I am on a fixed income therefore this is a lot of money to me. so i called nevada power immediately to rectify this huge mistake. I talked to customer service supervisor Debra 20475 and she told me she could not help it if i am stupid and my stupidity should cost me. well it has $24 fee from nevada because i did not have the funds to double pay and a $34 charge from my bank. so for just trying to do the right thing my wife and i will not be able to eat the week at the end of the month and this Debra just laughed about it. read more

WOW, seriously the worst. They're lucky they got 1 star and it's only because finally the supervisor helped me out and waived the fees I was fighting. I started paying my bill online in February and paid it successfully that month but for the March and April bill that I paid online something happened. I received a "Thank you for your payment... Your payment was received" email AND also received a confirmation number in that email for BOTH months. So in my view, I successfully paid and I paid on time! By the time the April bill was received it said the March amount didn't go through. Then I paid both together and apparently that didn't go through either (it turned out I got the routing number wrong on my checking account) BUT NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE FROM NV ENERGY THAT THE PAYMENT WAS DECLINED! Not one email, not one phone call. Had they sent me something I would've paid IMMEDIATELY. I've NEVER missed a payment on anything in my life so why would I start now. Seriously? NV Energy needs a better checks and balances system that alerts the customer of a missed or declined payment BEFORE they go and SHUT MY ELECTRIC OFF!!!! And they shut it when I was away on a business trip and came back to the house with no electricity and all the food in my refrigerator went bad! Are you kidding me?? As if that's not bad enough, I went to pay the total balance at the Walmart in cash right away to get it turned back on, which they did but NEVER told me there would be a NEW Deposit fee, a returned check fee, a remote connection fee and taxes and other fees upwards of $85 dollars I will now have to pay on my next bill??? Hell no. I made every attempt and had every intention to pay and pay on time but because YOUR COMPANY cannot and does not care to alert customers when a payment doesn't go through and you just shut electric off one day with no warning. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. I feel they are trying to make a customer miss on purpose so they can collect more FEES! It's a terrible scam. I am a person that would pay on a dime if I heard my check didn't go through and instead I almost end up in a credit / collections situation!? And by the way for the first time ever in my life! This company is the worst! Bottom of the barrel. This is how they get people. DON'T BE BLINDSIDED...ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BILL! Look at every charge and be sure they're not pulling the wool over your eyes. In my humble opinion, customer service does not exist here folks. I had an issue with my bill payment being taken out too early. It took an act of congress to fix the situation and by the time it finally was corrected, I had been through the ringer and spoken down to, by at least 3 different employees. Even as professional as I was on the phone, I had been spoken to like I did not know what I was talking about. Trying to get a supervisor was a hassle. This is not a review specific to this location but to all of NV energy. When I signed up for NV energy I was living alone at an apartment complex and all was great until I moved to lake Las Vegas with my fiancé. Once we moved we have had multiple instances of horrible customer service. Multiple times when I called in to release a hold on my account that should have never been added (due to our constant on time payments) I was met with poor attitudes and rude customer service. Recently a miscellaneous charge of $125 was added my account for a late payment that was never actually late. The customer service rep cut me off mid sentence when I was explaining why I was called. She was incredibly rude and had horrible customer service. Just like ever other company they are out to get as much money from you as possible. read more

Company is definitely a joke for sure. The rates they have are entirely too high. My paper Bill got lost in the mail and I called to get another one on 3 different occasions. I guess the first call wasn't enough. I barely got my Bill about 2 months after the fact. When you call they always have attitudes for no reason and you're also on hold for about 4 Years. Here we go again!! POWER OUT AGAIN. estimated time from 10:30am....3pm. Ok, another "5" hours. Like i said in my last review, its ALWAYS 5 hours. WTF?? How come it takes 5 hours?? Now, i get an update because its now past 3pm and this says: 5pm. If you guys would fix it right the first time, then.....our power wouldnt be out and i would not have to leave bad reviews!! Heres the thing, obviously there IS A MAJOR PROBLEM somewhere in this area. It is ALWAYS OUR STREET. Mind you, these are custom homes in this area but, all the other streets in our area all have power execpt ours. This happens everytime. I have told the people on the phone at nv energy that it is a fuse. ( the last 4 times its has been a fuse ) So, my only question to you people is, when are you gonna send somebody out here in this area that has more kowlege about this particular area and get this ON-GOING PROBLEM solved?? I am gonna get ahold of the public utilities commission and inform them also that this is not getting taken care of. Another issues which i think is bullsh** is, that you guys DONT have to reimburse any of us homeowners for the food in our refrigerators that is gonna go bad and the insullin for the diabetes.
