I am trying to get service installed. No one will return calls no one will pick up and no one will tell me if I passed inspection. It seems like people won't talk to other people on their team. I talk only to nice people on the phones but they say the inspector team won't answer or they'll get back and never do. Just learned today that if you have moved because of Covid and have to have your power disconnected your bill will be sent to collections after 45 days. I tried to set up a payment plan but was told that wasn't feasible and that Covid assistance only applies to active customers. I guess being an active customer for years means nothing. I applied for unemployment in May, and haven't heard or received any assistance. I want to pay my bill and, if that wasn't the case this would be paid. Very let down by unemployment and, very let down by NV Energy. So much for caring for your customers... read more

Oh how I wish there was just another energy company I can switch to so I don't have to be a consumer of this waste of a company. Last month, I lost power for 2 days. I spoke to several humans in NV Energy customer service and one automated system who all confirmed that on their end my energy should be running fine and there was never a disconnection. I was advised to re-start my main power breaker from one person, which I had no idea where it was located, and waited to call my HOA the next morning to find out as it was late at night. When I advised my HOA, they had our maintenance techs take a look at the breaker (located outside) and found that there was an error when trying to restart our unit's main power breaker. Called back to NV Energy and spoke to someone who was going to "try something on their end to see if it works" and if my power was not back on in 30 minutes, he would call a tech to physically come to my complex to take a look (which ended up happening around 12pm as whatever they tried to do on their end did not work) He even said he would expedite this and explained the tech would finish what he's doing and go to my complex next (which I get - this is not his fault he works in a call center and it's completely to the discretion of the techs that are working when they are able to get to their next location) however, my power came back on 8 hours later. I called NV Energy again because I was confused and frustrated at why I even lost power in the first place and also why it took so long for it to get fixed. It's quite chilly with no heat and everything in my fridge/freezer spoiled. I unfortunately got the run around and some customer service rep actually blamed me (laughable as earlier conversations clarified they didn't even see an issue with power or see service being stopped on their end) and eventually I asked for a clear explanation as I was still upset. They said they would have a supervisor follow up with me as they were all currently busy. I played phone tag for the next few days with a few supervisors and senior supervisors who called and only got a hold of one, Jay, who explained that there was a malfunction with the main power breaker meter (NV Energy is responsible for this), so they actually had to send someone to replace the entire thing. He also said they do not guarantee uninterrupted service (Is that not what I pay for?) and would not offer a sincere apology for the inconvenience or anything in light of the fact that I had no power for 2 days due to their malfunction. I decided to give up and not pursue my frustration, as it was wasting my time and clearly not getting anywhere. I'm not one to complain unless I get really upset, which doesn't happen often. I wish I could boycott NV Energy, but unfortunately I do need power in my household and NV Energy, you are my only choice. read more

I am very happy with NV energy's customer service in Reno ,NV . We smelled gas leak in our garage on Sunday evening and called NV energy emergency gas leakage to report. They immediately followed up and sent a technician who is extremely knowledgeable and kind . He checked everywhere and informed us that he could not find a gas leak . He checked the meter and all gas outlets to make sure that we are safe. Thank you so much for the great service. We are relieved and can sleep peacefully now. Had the worst experience with a customer service rep named Joy. I'm a new customer and she treated me like I was supposed to know everything about NV energy and how the billing worked. She made me feel like a piece of dirt. I could definitely tell that lady hated her job and couldn't wait to get home. If there was a negative100 rating option- this would be appropriate for NV Energy. Now that I just received a bill for nearly $600, here's the situation. I received a correction notice on my door in early July to remove a protection cover from my smart meter. The rep who left the notice not only destroyed my cover, but he also left a bogus call back phone number. I call the next day to attempt to fix the matter and find out the compliance policy for smart meters and the agent says that their supervisor is out of town and will return my call by early the following week.- Ok, cool. After patiently waiting 3 weeks, no one returns my call, so I call back. This time I speak with a rep who says that they've come home on 3 occasions and left correction notices and spoke with me- Huh? I've been home the whole time. They connect me to a supervisor who explains that per policy, they don't allow protection covers over their meters and I tell him that due to the health issues that the meters cause, is there another solution that we can come up with. He tells me he will look into the matter and get back to me that week.- Which never happened. I call back the following week and speak to another representative who says they will be notifying their health division and have someone reach out to me to talk about the situation and come up with a solution- which never happened. That same rep also told me to leave my protection covering on, and wait for the call- Ok, cool. 3 days after that, I receive a certified letter telling me to remove the cover-or else, NV Energy will be shutting me down. Huh- no phone call, no other solution to stay in compliance? The following Wednesday, I'm in the middle of my kids' online school orientation, and all of a sudden- We're sitting in darkness. I walk outside, and their field rep says he's just doing what he is told to completely removes the smart meter from my home- and leaves me and my kids in the home in 108 degree heat, during Covid- Huh? I call back that day and they send another rep who was informative and understanding of my situation. They also say that there will be a supervisor calling me that day- Never happened. Two weeks go by, still no call to solve the issue, so I continue to cover the meter. They send out the same guy to disconnect me again- only this time he leaves me and my kids in 112 degree heat!- Huh? The supervisor finally calls me back and tells me that I signed a contract stating that I would not tamper with their meter. I told her I don't remember signing a contract with NV Energy regarding smart meters so I asked her to read it to me and she said that SHE CAN'T BECAUSE it's too LONG- Huh? Later that day and tells me that she's going to bill me. Where's the contract that you claim that I signed? Only because they have a monopoly- all in all, this company is one to be very careful with. With exception of a few good employees-How would I describe the management: Poor communication, uneducated, BIG BULLIES, unethical, heartless, and even extortionists- Just check out all the other complaints for yourself- Pathetic! read more

How is it that when I had 5 people living in my house for one month, the highest my energy bill has ever been was 210$. With 4 people for 3 months the bill was 140-156$ but when there were 3 people for the month of December I got charged 156$ and then my next billing for January was projected to be 115$ but then I see it's 248$? WHAT? FROM WHAT? HOW. I watch my energy as closely as I can and regularly. Daily. Normally the estimated bill is like 5-15$ off from the projected. You're telling my bill spiked 120$? I called and they tell me they "misread the meter" and charged me what was leftover on the "next billing" so you're telling me for the month of December I used 280$ worth of energy.. with 3 people living here and 2 of us were gone for 2 weeks? From December 27-jan/27 I used 280$ worth of energy. No way. I also set up a payment plan to at least break the payment up into 3 payments of 83$ every week for 3 weeks. I pay the 83$ on February 24th and I find out the WHOLE AMOUNT WAS PAID AND TAKEN OUT OF MY ACCOUNT. When I called they said because they transaction was posted there's nothing they can do. I have been paying my energy bill since august, I think I would know how much to type in. Why would I type 248$ for the energy bill if I knew I couldn't even afford it at the moment. At this point im like okay. Whatever. It is what it is. Like I said, I watch my energy regularly and I see my projected bill for the month of February is around 65$ and when I log into check the bill it's literally almost 100$. Make sure you read the fine print very closely on the equal payment plan NV Energy offers, it's very deceptive. After being on the equal payment plan for a few years, I switched to net metering as I moved to solar and was stuck with a $800 bill, when my typical monthly bill was $216. I live in a rental home and have been here a year and a half. Not knowing we have a "smart" thermostat, I have always had issues with the thermostat and it adjusting to a different temperature after I just set it. Well, I lived with it, until now. I have just come home with my premie new born and we are in the middle of reno winter- its been 6 degrees outside! And my house is set to 62 degrees!! Its always running and hardly shuts off- our bill is insane for the winter time. I called today to get some help in adjusting the temperature and was told my the customer service lady that its not NV energy's responsibility anymore! since I have been here more then 2 months. Horrible Customer Service in the morning. Never received a bill & got a termination letter. WTF?? Called them 3x got disconnected the 1st & 2nd time. Long call back system, about 15-20 mins waiting. Told them I never received my bill and that can they give me a one time courtesy to waive the late charges since I always pay my bill on time. Agent said umm NO you should know when your bill is do. Your responsible. I know i'm responsible but your suppose to remind people that's why you send bills out to remind us. Agent oh the late fees is only 1% of your bill. I can't do anything about that etc. Guy got nasty & smart with me. Grrr.. Anyways they just suck and they charge you extra if you want to pay with credit card. I've never had an issue with NV Energy! I've moved 3 times since I've lived in Vegas, and transferring my service has never been an issue. I just transferred my service again and Tayna was incredibly helpful in this process. She was thorough, quick, and even congratulated me on my new home. This is the poster child for why utilities need to be deregulated nationwide and they should fight for their customers with some healthy competition. Dealing with NV Energy is second only to dealing with a government bureaucrat in dealing with the red tape and confusion that comes from working within an inflexible bloated hierarchy. I have a solar panel installation that was completed the end of January. I sent in all the required paperwork to get the 2 way net meter installed so I can begin generating my own solar power and satisfy my own electric needs as well as building credits to offset my power bill by selling power back to NV Energy. By PUC regulation, the company has 10 business days from receipt of the paperwork to get the meter installed. I'm coming up on day 13 Monday and my meter hasn't been changed yet. To call NV Energy for a status update is an exercise in futility because the ONLY person in the whole company who has that information is Derek Chang. Of course Derek Chang doesn't accept phone calls, his voicemail box is constantly full and his voicemail greeting even says to send him an email instead. NV Energy is being dragged kicking and screaming into allowing their customers to generate their own green power and they don't like it one bit. I'd love it if I could go off the grid completely, but I don't think city code allows for that. read more

NV Energy today shut down power at two of my businesses, despite us having paid both of those bills. These are the results... At my restaurant I have lost substantial business today, as well as losing product because my walk-in cooler is below what the health department requires. An estimated loss of $3,000 of cooled goods. Additionally, I have lost about $500 in potential revenue today because of their mistake. They stated "We are not responsible for the US Postal Service". They should have at least called to inform me of this. At my other business, a commercial building with 80 people who work there we lost the entire morning as well as having some of our tech gear fry when they abruptly turned the power back on without notice. We lost a rack of switches ($1,000 hardware item) plus one of our servers isn't responding since the disconnect. Unfortunately this is typical of any monopoly, and there is no "economic recourse". They never once said sorry, they just blamed everyone else. Now I'm saddled with placing 3 stop payments on checks (We averted a 3rd business from being shut-down) and those costs and hassles as well. Great way to start 2012. I hope the State of Nevada takes actions against this company. I'm certainly filing a complaint. read more

I was completely wrong. * the guy that came in to install the thermostats walk into my brand new home, with his dirty shoes, not even wearing those shoe covers. 3 weeks later my thermostat downstairs stop working but for some odd reason the fan was still on. To turn it off I had to turn off the power supply at the breaker box. I had 2 different guys come out and blame it on my BRAND NEW units. Its ironic that my unit decided to have issues the same exact time their thermostat did. They kept insisting that I need to have an HVAC guy to come out, of course I would be responsible for paying whatever work they need to do... What a joke of a company! They just slapped a "deposit" of $210 on my account and I've had it for 8 years never had my power shut off and this isn't new service- same address- same account. I went through my billing with a customer service agent all they could find was a 2 day delay my bank had on sending over the money due to a holiday, that doesn't not justify any deposit. So instead the only way to waive the outrageous deposit is to give you my banking information directly so you can freely withdraw from my account.... I am honestly blown away that this company has such a low rating. They have been nothing but wonderful in the last year since I moved here, and these are the reasons that make them 5 star: 1) their customer service is unbelievable. 24/7, and you almost immediately get right to a person. When you do, that person is always immediately helpful, knows their stuff, and if they don't they admit it and go to great lengths to find out the correct answer. In NY, I would have died for an electric company like this. Seriously, at any point I can call up and it feels like I'm just calling a friend to ask a quick question. 2) they have free solar powered electric vehicle charging ports outside of their office. Something's like 10 of them. I just got an electric car, and I LOVE that they offer this for free. I mean, solar powered panels giving free energy to power future electric cars should be the nightmare of electricity companies, but NV Energy is progressive enough and cares enough about the environment to make it happen. 3) their time of use program is a phenomenal program. They have a special one for electric vehicles that gives a slightly better discount between 10pm and 6am for charging, but in the winter, time of use cuts yours bill almost in half. In the summer you just have to avoid heavy usage during peak hours such as 1-6 or 2-7 and you're golden! We already do that, so we were so happy to get this discount. Plus they GUARANTEE your year will cost less money on the time of use plan or they will refund you the difference. Talk about backing up their programs. I am extremely thankful that NV Energy is around and that there are progressive, helpful and always available. It's literally one of the top things I'll miss when I eventually move away. read more

I took myself off of auto payment and closed my account so that I could pay the last bill on my own accord. Instead, they end up charging my bank account anyway and caused me to overdraft. Seriously, it seems that a lot of companies and property management offices will do anything to take your money once you decide to end your rent or service from them. Nv energy's Cool Share program is a joke. I put up with coming home to a warm house all summer because they choose to shut off your a/C at 4:00 in the afternoon, but what tore it for me is when their thermostat, that they installed, broke on Friday evening, and I called for service. Cool Share offers no after hours or weekend service. The customer service people gave me an emergency number, answered by a woman who told me they have not been affiliated with Cool Share for 3 years, and can't get NV Energy to stop giving out their number. I was done. Went to Lowe's, bought a thermostat, threw the Cool Share junk in the trash,, and my house is cool again. read more

I know people complain about NV all the time including pricing , surcharges and the whole solar debate. I wanted to share an excellent customer service experience I had with them. Closed on a home and got possession this past Friday afternoon at 3PM. For whatever reason, the sellers had all ready turned off the power. I was faced with moving in with no power, possibly for the entire weekend. I had cable installers waiting at the door and movers on the way Via phone , I contacted them , their phone rep called the field office, said they would make some internal overrides, promised to have it on in 12 hours. I have lived in Las Vegas NV going on 20 years.. and when covid hit in 2020 I lost 26% of my business and come Feb of 2021 I ended up in the hospital with a major GI surgery that set me back many months not to mention I came down with the flu on top of that in the end of March and me being an independent contractor I had to apply for a PPP loan just to stay afloat.. I called NV Energy and let them know I could not come up with the pay until I go back to work or my PPP loan come through and was behind 3 going on 4 months.. NV Energy never said a word to me and they paid my power bill or forgave me of my bill for 4-5 months worth and when I saw that I cried how great they were to help out in my time of need! I called and thanked them with gladdened tears! they really do care about their customers and they waited 1 month more before starting my bills up again! which gave me time to get healed and back to work and my PPP loan to come in! I can't thank them enough! if you just keep in contact with them and give them updates on how you are doing they do help out! they gave me help in my real time of need and never asked for anything in return! NO companies do that! but they did! they do care and they even helped more people like me keep their lights on than you will ever imagine! their customer service reps are so caring and kind and I can't thank all of them enough! NV Energy made me pay a deposit of $115 when I moved to NLV a year ago. I have a credit rating of 824 and could have provided them with 10 years of history from my previous power provider. Now that my first year is up I called to find out what happened to my deposit and learned that they will apply it back to my account at month 13. Since I have solar, my monthly bill is around $15. It will take an additional 7 months to get my entire deposit back. I was told that I could speed this up by calling (again) once the credit shows up on my statement and request a check. The check can take another month. . . . . Something is wrong with this. If they can spend $63 million to block an open market - maybe I won't ever see my deposit. It was about 7:43 PM when I called the first time using the 702 phone number. No one answered for 5 minutes thinking they were closed I hung up. But I looked and saw a 1-800 number and was like might as well try, if in 15 minutes they don't answer guess I'll be without power. It was about a 7 minute hold time but Tami (with a MI) picked up the phone. She listened to my problem and told me she was on it. 5 minutes passed she scheduled a disconnect on Monday. Two days after payday. Normally any other company would be like nope. But Tami helped me out SOOOO much. We even had a quick convo on Emojis and Emoticons after I told her I was writing this review. Moral of the story. Be patient with customer service agents most of the time they want to help you out. And remember to call before they turn off your service. It really helps. read more

This company is a joke. I miss clicked on a payment and accidently paid the amount of my mortgage to them, which admittedly isn't my finest moment. Called customer service to see if I could get a check issued for the credit balance on my account. The representative informed me I would have to wait 15 days from the payment date to start the process and the process would take 25-30 days once processed. This is either an example of how inefficient the company is or an example of how greedy the company is. I say greedy due to the fact they could keep my overpayment in an interest bearing account for the 40 to 45 days they are holding my money. Any company that is willing to screw over their customers like this would normally not have my business, but since its a monopoly, I have no course of action, but to leave a bad review. We just recently purchased solar & put the no app on the phone & of course it doesn't work properly so you call nv energy to fix 3 times & font & then requested a new meter & I am supposedly to get it in Monday. I highly doubt they will be out. Unbelievable Then this past Monday we had our meter changed & still can't get any info from their app. I can't believe it. I even emailed them & still didn't get a answer. Awful customer service read more
