When I went to drop the car off, the same lot only had a few vehicles in it- they had fixed and completed the work on most all of them that week. That van is our lifeline to her medical appointments and day program. Not to mention work and errands if one of us isn't home to be with her. Two weeks, the bare minimum time that's typically required for the kind of repair we needed, might as well be forever. Try renting a wheelchair van - places don't have them. Accessible taxis? So expensive. I called ahead dreading to ask for special treatment. We're used to being dismissed by most people in the corporate world. It's not personal. People on the job just don't have any incentive to help us when we need it. We're mostly invisible to folks -- not worth extra effort. Gerber and Sandy (and Cora) are the opposite. They didn't just listen to us, they saw us, understood, and then went above and beyond. They pushed us to the front of the line (sorry to everyone who had to wait extra because of us) and turned our van around in record time. It's so rare. I just can't thank them enough.
