This was my meal - chicken chicharrones.
Steve A.

I met up with several (as per the photos) of my friends for dinner, and they chose to stay out of downtown Nyack. Ease of parking - I mean, the parking lot was jam packed here, but somehow we all found spots and somehow there was no wait for a table for 8! So this place is built to serve a large crowd. And like any NJ-esque diner (I mean, it's across the river but only a few minutes out), you have 12 pages of menu to choose anything you want. None of it's going to be gourmet, but some solid selections to be found. Things that stood out: * Regular fries look hand cut. No need to upgrade. * Standard meats, sides, sauces on hand. * Friendly staff, service wasn't amazing but nothing bad. Kept my water filled but I didn't get ~quite~ as many lemons as I might have hoped. My food came out a couple minutes after everyone else's. I figured chicken chicharrones was something different than the usual pork - meat instead of fat, for one! But it turned out to be relatively bland, without the salt and spices that I like. So even though the menu tends toward Latin American cuisine as its speciality, I would stick with the American food if I were you. Not a bad place overall, four stars may be a bit generous but they did OK with our large group and were happy to go with separate checks at the end, so I will round it on up.

The Nyack Diner is a great spot for a quick meal! Came in and got breakfast with my mom - I had the Nyack Omelette and it was hearty. Food came out fast. I was tempted to get a mimosa (they have a full bar!) but I'm trying to do Dry January.

Have been coming here for years decided to write a quick review. This diner does not disappoint. It offers quality fresh food and excellent service.

We were chatting with Vanessa before realizing she would be singing later, and wow--she has a beautiful voice and sang some favorites like "Just the Two of Us." We ordered the fried whiting over a waffle, fried chicken with collard greens and fried okra, and shrimp and grits with a pecan coating. Portions were huge, so we took plenty home for our group of three adults and a toddler. Everything was slightly spicy, super crispy, and absolutely delicious. A small but much-appreciated touch: they brought our 2-year-old ice water with a lid without us even asking. The warm sweet potato cornbread muffins were amazing--we liked them so much we ordered some to take home. We'll definitely be back!

The chicken looked good but I only ate 1/2 piece of the wing. (Still have me a horrible headache on the way home). Place is small but that's the least of their problems. Entire staff primarily speaks Spanish and aren't properly trained enough to even know how to take an order at your table. The poor girl tried hard to try to write down our simple order but the language barrier made it hard for her to type our order into the system. She returned to the table 5x to explain the various mistakes she made trying to put the order in. As I stood near the bar waiting to put my OWN drink order in, the young confused waitress ran over to tell me that the kitchen was out of collard greens. I smoked and substituted it for something else. 10 minutes later she arrives with my oversalted chicken and collard greens. Maybe wait a few years and try them, if they happen to stay open by some miracle.

They had some interesting looking thick quiches, things like croissants, cakes, tarts and macarons (the girl behind the counter corrected my friend by saying "macaroon" which is technically incorrect). I'm a sucker for a good bread pudding but i should have reconsidered since that was the thing they seemed to have plenty of. They didn't heat that or the pear Tartlett up; eating them both cold was unsatisfactory (I know we should have said something but then a line was forming) and I felt sick after eating the bread pudding (perhaps too rich and just too cold and sad). I didn't feel very comfortable in the space, as I was expecting something more quaint and charming vs. old and in need of a makeover and cleaning. The word brasserie comes from the Middle French brasser, meaning "to brew," and Brasserie D honors that tradition with an extensive selection of beers, as well as a curated list of wines and spirits. The service, ambiance, and menu are quintessentially French, featuring classic dishes from across the regions--including specialties from Alsace. We began our feast with a rustic Pâté de Campagne, accompanied by cornichons, mixed greens, and toasted baguette. We also shared Hareng Pomme à l'Huile--smoked herring imported from France, served over warm, tender potatoes. The youngest in our party kept himself occupied with his Nintendo Switch and two generous helpings of Alain's world-class pommes frites. After careful deliberation, he declared them superior to McDonald's--a high honor in the world of six-year-olds. For mains, standouts included the hearty Beef Bourguignon, the tender Jarret d'Agneau (braised lamb shank with root vegetables in an orange-rosemary sauce), and the regional showstopper Choucroute Colmar--a robust dish of smoked meats and sausages served over sauerkraut. Well, it looked a lot better than what it was. It was totally bland and certainly not a pound and a half of lobster meat. It was truly disappointing.
