We first stopped here 18 months ago when the restaurant was changing hands. We were pleasantly surprised when this breakfast spot was implementing an Hispanic twist. TL;DR: reliable food safety. Kitchen looks clean and appliances look new. Yummy homey food. Parking: street-side. May be difficult during peak hours. Atmosphere: small cafe-like setting. Limited seating. Parties larger than 4 will be slightly hard to accommodate if you want to all sit together. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the kitchen and how shiny and new the appliances appeared. Service: wait to be seated, order at the table, you will be watered, check brought to you. Friendly staff. Menu: simple two page menu with good descriptions. Kid Friendliness: Highchairs, crayons, and kids' menu. Kid's get a disposable cup with lid and straw. French Toast: delicious and fluffy. Maple syrup comes in a small dispenser jug. Side Bacon: evenly cooked and not overly crunchy, greasy, or shriveled. Perfection. Side Scrambled Eggs: A bit on the thin side but tasty nonetheless. I wish they were a tad fluffier but they came flatter than a pancake. Stopped in for breakfast on Sunday morning around 730. Nobody around, plenty of street parking. The cafe is cute and small, a handful of tables inside and a few out. They've got a decent breakfast menu. We grabbed a couple of traditional plates with eggs, toast, and hash browns. Everything was flavorful without being too salt heavy, and the house coffee was great. Service was cordial and friendly. We'd definitely stop by again. read more

Such a great little spot in NYE beach. It was close to our hotel, and thankfully open early, which was great because we generally get an early start. Service was great, he was friendly, attentive and everything came out quickly and was tasty. They have some great unique menu items, local art for sale adorns the walls, and the vibe was great. We enjoyed everything we tried (breakfast sandwich, biscuits and gravy and 2 different breakfast burritos, as well as the baked French toast). I was especially impressed by the sausage patties -- they were huge and delicious! Have you ever found a restaurant that you want to mark "No" as the answer to the "Would you recommend this to a friend?" Question? Not because you didn't like the place but because they are so good you don't want them to get too popular? This is that place! The service is friendly courteous and personal. You don't just feel like they want to get you in and out for the next customer. The flatware is substantial and not just pressed tin in your hand. I like that! The Cups are unique. I believe they support local artists as they are not typical mass production mugs. The restaurant is not huge and there are overflow tables outside as well as making it pet friendly. Having dairy and egg allergies can make finding a good breakfast difficult. To accommodate we typically search for vegan options. They were super understanding and substituted the country potatoes for eggs in the Uncle Floyd's Breakfast Burrito. It was well packed with yummy ingredients and very filling. Big hit for the nondairy no egg option. The biscuits and gravy half order is one big fluffy homemade biscuit split and covered with country gravy. A little peppery but not spicy. The corned beef hash had big chunks of corned beef, red potatoes, green and red peppers and red onions. The eggs were cooked perfectly over medium so the yolks ran giving the hash a bit of a sauce. To finish it off the single slice of sourdough toast topped with a berry compote was a great accompaniment. This is far from a boring cookie cutter restaurant and will be on my radar whenever I come to Newport. read more

It's a small cafe with limited seating considering the crowds that can be at Nye Beach during the Summer. But on a Winter weekday a mug of hot chocolate to take off the chill can be very pleasant. I'm mostly fond of their breakfast offerings. Very tasty, generous portions and well prepared. Chowder is very good with lots of actual seafood in it. Prices are decent considering the tourist trap area it's in. Wait staff is fine. Plenty of free side-street parking a couple of blocks away if the city lot is full as it often is. read more

Nice cafe with very good service. They serve breakfast all day until the close at 1500. So, ordered the Huevos Rancheros because I haven't had that in quite a well. The polenta was a little overdone and I didn't think their red sauce was enough and I did add some green Tabasco to kick it up. Lovely, family run place by Nye Beach. They're pretty busy even on a weekday but we're quickly seated. The inside was clean and full of art pieces for sale. The menu has a mix of classic American breakfast and Mexican dishes. We we're happy with our order of the Mama Boy's Omlette and the Chile Rellenos. The Chile Rellenos was unique since it's more of a casserole ans came with some of the freshest tortillas I've had; so good. I had heard of this place before and wanted to try it out. I got the bowl of Slumgullion as I had heard the clam chowder was very good here. For me, the chowder was very bland and way overpriced. $19 dollars for a bowl, it was very large, it was a bit too thick. Their toast that came with it was the best part. Others that I was with were not overly excited either. Overall it was too expensive and didn't have a lot of flavor. The servers were very friendly and the place was cute though. read more
