Stopped by O'Brien's to ask for some help on getting a VIN number out of my car. I recently did an engine swap from a four-cylinder to a six cylinder, and I have been having the biggest headache trying to get it smogged because of all the loopholes that you have to jump through with the smog referee. I couldn't get 3 different smog shops to just plug in their computer so I can get a VIN number verified by the bureau of automotive repair. However at O'Brien's without hesitation, he was able to get my Vin for me and did not even charge me I really appreciate how easy going and understanding he was definitely going to bring my other vehicles back. I stopped by and met Ryan who I found very personable. Ryan setup an appointment for August 20, look and repair the issues I was having with the cars air conditioner and ABS and traction control lights warming. When Ryan ran the diagnostic, he determined that it was A communication issue between CAN network and the modules and recommended I take my car to the dealership. Scammers! Do not go here. Brought my car in because my alternator was failing. They lied and said they replaced it when they did not. Car was still having issues when I picked it up. Brought it back because I had the alternator tested at Autozone where they told me the alternator was no good. They lied and said issues could be due to having a dirty air filter. Took it to the dealership where they confirmed my alternator had not been replaced. Spent over 1k for a "replacement" just for these evil people to scam me out of my money. I started having problems with my truck missfiring after going to 2 different shops telling me what they think the problem is and trying to charge me a couple grand to fix a maybe problem ... I took it to O Brian's and have them do a diagnostic and they gave me the exact problem and Told me the best solution That would be cheaper In the long run... They swapped out my engine with a remanufactured one And gave me a 3 year unlimited mileage No no fault warranty..... There Was a minor mishap After the engine swap .... Took my car in cause the "check engine light" was on. Alot of codes came up during the diagnostics but instead of a "quick fix" or "we have to repair It all" I got, "lets start with one and go from there". Not only did they take the time to run through all the codes and run test to narrow down the problem, they managed to find the problem, fix it and all at a great price. My husband and I were referred by family to O'Briens (to see Shane). My husband called the shop multiple times for a week with no success, so we decided to drop by instead. This is where disappoint begins. We were greeted by Ryan (or at least that was the name on his uniform), who was incredibly rude and lacked customer service skills. My husband informed him he had called several times during the week to speak to someone about his A/C. Ryan's response was, "If I don't answer, it's cause we're booked." Ok, not how I'd run my business, but whatever. My husband asked if he can go ahead and drop off his vehicle, the a/c needed to be diagnosed. There would be no rush and he can look at it during the week. Ryan's rude response was, "Didn't I just tell you I was booked? Call me next week and I'll see what I have." No thanks! Just what I want in a mechanic. Shane was honest, quick and reasonable with his pricing. I thought I told him I needed rear wheel bearings on my 2010 Prius, but he tested the car just to verify. When I came to get the car, he had the old bearings on hand to show me how badly they were worn. I asked him to check the brake pads, because another repair shop told me they were almost due for replacement. Shane reported that the pads were still at 50-60%, so he advised waiting. Dropped the car off at 9, and it was done at 11:30. AND, the cost was half of what four other repair shops had quoted. O'Briens is my new go to place for car service. read more
