My wife and I shared the Tuna Tataki, Tostada, and Caprese Sandwich. Our 1-year old had the kids pizza. All the food was really good and I'm excited to explore the menu more. Looove this brand new addition to the neighborhood. Just opened last weekend. Absolutely gorgeous space with lots of natural light, warm colors, and really fun framed art (even in the bathrooms!) The staff are beyond friendly, especially the owners. Checked in on us toward the end of our meal to thank us for having M&M's on the block. My husband and I couldn't decide between the shoestring fries and the calamari so we got both (pic attached), and we enjoyed our Goldilocks Caesar and the "hot one" pizza too much to get a pic. HUGE fan of everything we ate! I love a good glass of wine so I had a really yummy Sauvignon blanc, but the cocktails look fire. Hubby got a "TTYL", delicious. New pizza place in the inner sunset which truly fills a need. Pasquale's is classic, but ever since Villa Romana closed the area needed a change of pace. The layout and crisp paint job makes the space bright and open. You could tell everything is new. Staff was welcoming with a cute "please like us" vibe. We came in at 5 on a Friday with no wait, but a line did form to see the fresh place in the neighborhood. As for the food, it's exactly what was missing. I think for a group of four that two pizzas is the right number. We got the Hot One which was more than the typical safe "spicy". The meat had a good zing, but the red peppers were not dulled. Good for them. The Pig & Fig was a decent relief from the heat, yet it lacked the unique punch in flavor of the other pie. The onion strings are not reinventing something, just solidly meeting expectations. Price point was more than reasonable and atmosphere was upbeat with locals of all ages. The place is beautifully designed with the second level giving industrial Golden Gate Bridge vibes based on their staircase! The Inner Sunset just got a good one. It's wonderful to see the old Social Kitchen space at 9th and Irving alive again after sitting empty since the pandemic, and the team at Maggie & Mac's has done a beautiful job with it. I had the French dip. The steak was incredibly tender, and the horseradish sauce on the side was a nice touch. My friends ordered the French onion soup, which looked amazing, and the fish tacos, which got high marks across the table. The service matched the food. The hostess, our server, and the general manager who stopped by to make sure everything was right all took great care of us. Prices are surprisingly reasonable too, especially with how expensive everything has gotten. This place is going straight into my regular rotation. This is the restaurant we all dream of for our own neighborhoods, a place to get away for a few relaxing hours with family and friends for a beer, wine or cocktail and good food. With a welcoming attitude and excellent service. Low key and relaxed but with high standards. And family friendly, your kids will love it. We had the fish tacos and meatloaf and are now anxious to try the other items (the French Dip looked especially enticing). Came here yesterday for dinner. After we were seating it took after 15 mins for someone to greet us. The food was a 5/10. I had the burger (it's not a smash burger) and chicken wings. When the food was dropped off by NOT our waiter, it took about another 15 mins until the waiter showed up again. I asked him for ketchup for the fries and a refill on the drink I finished before the food even arrived. That took so long to get those two things I didn't even want it anymore. But I eventually got my refill in the same cup with no extra ice at all (same melted ice I had before) And I was done with my food before I even got the ketchup. I wanted to like this place so much since I'm local, but it is not worth coming here. We got here Sunday at 7pm, sat down and ordered quickly. 30 mins passed and we still didn't get any water (same with the two tables next to us) after we all asked multiple times. Appetizer came and we still hadn't gotten water and asked again. At this point we've been here close to an hour and still no water so I just walked downstairs and grabbed my own since the staff wouldn't bring it. Another 30 mins pass and food comes, salad and a smash burger. There was almost no crab in the $28 salad like the menu states. The smash burger is decent but the fries are soaked with oil (see photo) to the point we left them there. Picture speaks for itself. Waited so long for the bill to come that we got impatient and walked downstairs to checkout. Low quality overpriced bar food. They just opened recently FWIW. This is going to be our new spot!! We came in to check this place out and I was pleasantly surprised so I figured I would show some love to this new gem in the neighborhood. Great ambiance and to top it off the food was incredible. Our group tried the smash burger, my favorite menu item so far, the fish tacos which were fresh light and delicious, the chicken thighs were crispy yet juicy, and the meatloaf changed our opinion on meatloaf forever! The owners were so kind to us and even with the hectic nature of opening a brand new restaurant they took the time to introduce themselves and thank us for stopping by. Live in the 'hood, first time in last night and beyond impressed! My wife and I sat at the bar for some drinks and appetizers. We were served promptly and warmly by the bartender who also quickly turned on the Stanley Cup Finals at my request (thanks again!). The beer was cold, my wife loved her Chardonnay, and the food (which came out quickly) was fantastic! Highlight for us was definitely the chicken wings. Delicious, hot, generous portion. Stone fruit salad and baked potato bites also great. The space is amazing, tons of natural light and super comfortable. Great energy all around, good and friendly people running the place. We started with the potato skins (a lil kick from the aioli never hurt anyone), and the stone fruit salad- perfectly paired with a glass of bright white wine. After starters, we moved onto the pig and fig pizza and a hearty bowl of French onion soup. The highlight of the night came straight from our hard to please 4yo kiddo who absolutely crushed not one, but two homemade uncrustables. Mixed feelings - mid century modern sports bar just feels a bit conflicted as to what it's trying to deliver. Atmosphere is great, especially sitting upstairs (worth the trek). Food let me down a bit. Chicken wings were well seasoned but no wipes were offered- just a cloth napkin. Chicken thighs were very greasy and tasted like they were made with no salt. My friend and I looked forward to lunch, a few minutes after 12. We were given the choice of seating up or downstairs, we chose upstairsat the window. Nice ambiance. I ordered the meatloaf...tasty and a generous portion. But, my biggest takeaway from today is the surprisingly pleasant phone conversation with Scott the owner about an hour after we left. After giving more thought to an issue that had come up as my friend and I were leaving, I called and asked to speak to the manager. I was told he was busy, so I left my # for a return call, totally assuming that it wouldn't happen. Scott did call me shortly after. He identified himself as the owner in a sincere and ready-to-listen tone. He patiently heard me out, he said he understood what I was saying , he apologized appropriately. He named specific steps he'd take to address the issue so it wouldn't happen again, and I believe him! So for me, simply based on my interaction with Scott today, Maggie & Mac's is worth trying again even if the first time experience might not be ideal. read more
