Shepherd's Pie - so good!
Lauren C.

First time eating here before a show at the Hudson Theatre. The service was great, food was excellent and you can't beat the location if you're headed to a show. Very quiet and peaceful inside. Definitely will be back when I am in the area.

Love me a good Guiness! It's only a block away from time square! I will say the glass was def not a pint, so paying $9 and getting shorted isn't cool, I'd recommend another Irish pub down the street. Also the bartender didn't acknowledge us for the longest time, it wasn't even that busy.

Fish n chips with a side of mashed potatoes

This seem like a popular restaurant in this area, based on how crowded it was when we came for an early dinner. The hostess kindly moved our table further away from the cold front area as we requested. The waitress was attentive and asked the bartender to make a bourbon drink that I didn't see on the menu. Although she denied our request to order chicken francaise and advised they only make meals listed on the menu. This was quite disappointing since any other Irish restaurant I've been to was happy to accommodate that order, if it wasn't on the menu. Not many of the other menu items appealed to me. The fish n chips we did order was standard fare. Lots of tvs in every direction I looked, each playing different sports games, and the noise level of tables around us was above average.

Disappointing Experience - Plenty Better Options in Times Square With pizza shops and Asian food everywhere in New York City, we were looking for something a little different and decided to give O'Donoghue's in Times Square a try. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the more disappointing dining experiences we've had in the area. Honestly, we probably would have been better off grabbing food from one of the temporary food vendors outside. The problems started with the service. There were three of us, and after being seated, we weren't given any menus. We had to flag down our waitress to ask for them. Despite clearly seeing three people at the table, she brought only one menu. When I politely asked for two more, she simply walked away without saying a word. A few minutes later, she returned, dropped the additional menus on the table, and walked away again. We then had to flag her down a second time just to place a drink order. Eventually she took our food order, and things only got worse from there. We ordered two appetizers and three entrees. Instead of bringing out the appetizers first, the kitchen delivered everything at the same time..., appetizers and all three dinners together. It completely defeated the purpose of ordering appetizers in the first place. Throughout the meal, getting drink refills or any attention from the waitress required repeatedly flagging her down. As for the food, it was equally disappointing. I ordered the sizzling steak, and it was not very good. The steak lacked flavor, and overall the quality was below average. The rest of the table felt the same way about their meals. Nothing stood out as memorable or worth recommending. Between the poor service, poorly timed food delivery, and mediocre food quality, this was not a place I would return to. Times Square has countless dining options, and I would strongly suggest trying somewhere else. You'll likely have much better luck than we did.

The service was great! We went on new years weekend and honestly the server was great! Never without a drink or food! The food!!!! On my gosh it was to die for! I loved all of it! Comes out hot and fresh! Dessert was just as good! I will tell you that going to an Irish bar and their drink specialty menus are mostly martinis with vodka was a little disappointing as I expected more things with whiskey but as soon as you ask for whiskey in your drinks, the bartender is more than willing to make you a drink whatever Irish whiskey you want.

Very good food, friendly service, and a great location. Loud, as most bars are, but you can still hear the people you're with. We've been twice due to the location and will probably return. Not a fan of the new trend of charging for every iced tea glass, but at least you get a full glass here.

We stopped in for drinks and dessert on a Friday night and were actually able to get seated! The place was recently decorated for Christmas and was loud and filled with patrons. Even though this is in Times Square The prices are great and the dessert was good. We'd definitely go back!

Cosmofor the win!

We were the 1st ones in when it opened,& in about 15min the bar was full, in a half the tables were getting full. Good vibe here. I just came off of dry january so I ordered some cosmos, our bartender made them perfectly! Next thing we know the rugby game is on & things got a little loud, it was a cool experience! We snacked on boneless wings(yum) and vegy spring rolls with a great dipping sauce. Loved it here. On the list for definitely returning. Maybe I'll be drinking beer that day

One VERY frigid night last week, I came out from watching the fabulous Keanu Reeves & Alex Winter in Waiting for Godot & spotted this place across the street. Figured I'd get some food to go to take home with me for dinner. I was greeted pretty quickly by the hostess when I went in and put in an order for fish & chips & a slice of key lime pie. The place was warm (except whenever the door opened) and very busy, so they would only allow people at a table if they were going to have dinner (people were sent to the bar if just drinks). There was live music & the decor was festive for the holidays, so I was entertained while waiting, and the food came out fairly quickly. The security (?) guy sitting near the entrance seemed nice too & was chatting a bit (but I was preoccupied with how to get home in the freezing weather & it was too loud to really hear him). It took me much longer than expected to get home so food was pretty cold--but the fish & chips were tasty enough and a large enough portion that I could eat the rest for lunch the next day (heated up nicely in a pan). The pie was decent. Overall seems like a nice enough option in Times Square if you want pub fare & a casual, warm ambiance, and don't mind crowds!

Sample platter

First time here , we sat at the Long bar and ordered drinks and the appetizer sample platter! The chicken wings were a bit bland , not enough spice or seasoning to warrant the taste. The chicken tenders could used more seasoning on it ! Kinda taste like it was frozen before cooked. The mozzarella sticks were pretty much just! And the potatoe skins actually had the best texture cause the cheese wasn't as greasy! Overall all it's not a Greasy texture . So you WONT be a mess after you're done ! and the sauces are paired w/ the samples! Our bartender was pretty quick on our service there when we needed another drink ! This place is hugh , I would say if you need room to eat and sit down. You're at a good spot . But bring your money . It's not too cheap remember your in Times Square area after all!

One of the more perfect Rubens I've had. The food and customer service was amazing. The venue was extremely loud, but they had live music and the bad was great. I will absolutely return to this spot right off of the main Time Square hub

Time for another beer!

Definitely, that Irish pub you're looking for from the indoor ambience, to the beer selection to the food! My only gripe is no pitchers of beer! This pub has everything you're looking for trust me! Right at 44th St. and eighth Avenue Near Times Square, New York City! If you're looking for that spot to grab some beers in an incredibly lively atmosphere with a full gigantic Irish bar, and Irish food look no further! You will not be disappointed here. My son and I came here after a convention at the Javits center and we were looking to have multiple beers and lots of different tastes, we got it! They got all your classic, Irish beers like harp, Smithwick, and others, but they also have a selection of IPAs and every kind of beer!! Very good selection! Beers are served in a 16 ounce glass. I have to get this out-of-the-way I really wish they served beer in pictures. I know they make more money by making you buy it by the glass but it's a nice touch to be able to order a pitcher of beer in an Irish pub. It's part of the experience. So my search for that pub continues but this is definitely a must stop place if you're looking for an Irish pub near Times Square. But hey, the food was great! We got a Cuban sandwich, crabcakes, good old, gigantic nachos for an appetizer. The other thing is the seating here is very comfortable. I'm not gonna name the other pub we stopped at first, but the seating was not comfortable, and I knew this pub was nearby so we decided to leave and come here. Best decision I've made in a long time Highly recommended for an authentic Irish pub, near Times Square, look no further!

Small place, just one floor and dark. Real candles were indicate. Great service, server was outstanding. The 12oz steak was sizzling and delicious. They allowed to sub the potatoes for salad and all was great tasting. The wings were tasty and the meat just gave off the bone very easily. Buffalo sauce had the right amount of spice!

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with champagne, which immediately set the tone for a special evening. Our server, Daniel, was beyond amazing. He was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in making our anniversary meaningful. It never felt forced just thoughtful, polished hospitality. The team went above and beyond when we brought our wedding cake (which had been frozen for a year). Not only did they accommodate it without hesitation, they helped decorate and present it beautifully you would have thought it had been baked that same day. It was such a touching moment for us, and they handled it with care and enthusiasm. As for the food: incredible. The steak tartare was perfectly balanced and beautifully prepared. The tuna was fresh and vibrant. And the Beef Wellington... honestly one of the best I've had in New York City. Perfectly cooked, rich, elegant, and absolutely worthy of a celebration dinner. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance: romantic, warm, refined but relaxed. It felt special without being stiff. If you're looking for a place to celebrate something meaningful, this is it. We will absolutely return.
