Food is OK, but price expensive for lunch. Not sure if the lunch and dinner are being used the same menu. Service OK as well.

Have ordered from this restaurant several times and food was very good , especially their fried rice. Well , we ordered today and It tasted like we ordered from a completely different restaurant . The fried rice was awful , it basically was white rice with vegetables , the spare ribs were cold and tasteless! The rest of our order was subpar ! I would have given them another try except when I called to ask if them if they had a different chef their response was no and we are sorry ! No offer for refund or discount ! read more

Food here is fresh and tasty but I have had more authentic Szechuan food. The sauces are more peanut based as opposed to chili oil. I tried the Dan Dan noodles and Szechuan dumplings, both with peanut sauce. The pork belly and leeks was good but I think chef wang in new Hyde park blows it away. read more

The atmosphere of the restaurant is of no other on Long Island. I felt like I was literally in China. It's so beautiful. As an appetizer my table got the vegetable dumplings which were amazing. As my entree I got the orange chicken. I so wish I took a photo of it to put with this review just so I can show how excellent it was. On the downside I had a bite of my friends chicken and broccoli and wasn't to impressed. I'm not going to go into details however because for my experience I can say nothing negative at all. Went for a late lunch yesterday. Attractive decor, nice bar, looks like a Shaolin Temple. Food was good, but had some issues I would like to address with the management: - If I'm paying $46 for 1/2 a Peking Duck, I'm expecting the crepes to be assembled tableside. This same dish is $22 at Golden Temple and they take the time to do this. Yes, it was better here, but not 2X better. - Has the pork belly with Bamboo shoots, which was good, would have been great if there was more than a couple of pieces of pork in it. $24. - The Ma La Beef Jerky appetizer was really excellent. $14 - If you offer me sparkling or still water, and I select still, this usually translates that I want tap water. My associate said "We'll have New York's finest". You gave us bottled water and opened it before we had a chance to comment. I thought this was an underhanded way to sell us water. What made it worse, when we were asked if we wanted more water, we specified tap, and it never came. - $6.00 for tea? Really? - No rice? For the record, I've spent the equivalent of 2 years in China, so I do have some knowledge of regional cuisine. If you want truly authentic Sichuan food on Long Island, my suggestion would be Spicy, Home, Tasty in Commack. Not upscale, or fancy, but excellent Sichuan food. I'm sure Omandarin will do well, the area has built in clientele. But I was turned off for the reasons mentioned above. read more

The restaurant is ascetically very nice but they have a long way to go. Brought a family of 8 tonight. The service was completely disorganized and slow. Had a 6:30 reservation and the food was not served until almost 7:45. The order was brought out at different times. Completely disorganized. The children food was never even brought out. The rice was brought out after all the entrees were ate. They have a long way to come on service. Maybe if they were staffed properly, the service would be better. Food tasted more Authentic than most Chinese restaurants' nondescript crap. Better ingredients were used also. The place resembles a garden villa in Suzhou, China. One negative-- too dark indoor. Would be nice to have natural lights and windows. read more

We went for lunch on Jan 19th. to the Hicksville location. The food was absolutely amazing. Tony the Manager/Maitre D, explained the food science for all the entrees we ordered. The decor is very unique with an old Chinese feeling inside. The ambiance is so welcoming. Make sure you ask for Jenny to be your server, very knowledgeable, and very kind. My boyfriend and I come to Omandarin all the time. We went on Friday night and we're seated at one of the bar tables because there were no tables available inside. We had a wonderful time like always. Our server was amazing. Very attentive and friendly, food was DELICIOUS as well as the drinks. I got the Lava Margarita and my boyfriend got the Black Sesame Colada I definitely recommend those two drinks!!! The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful, its so relaxing and peaceful. Although our dinner was slightly interrupted by this assuming husband and wife, starting problems and yelling like a lunatic and cursing because a young boy threw up in the front of the restaurant. Tony, the manager nicely asked them to leave because they were just making everything worse and come on, hes just a little boy he was probably embarrassed and scared. I have been coming to Omandarin since they opened and I have brought family and friends with me as well and I always had AMAZING encounters with Tony (he even bought a round for me and my friends for my 21st birthday!) not one complaint about him or his staff. Here is my message to @LC (scroll below for review) You should be ashamed of yourself by twisting this story, you must be miserable. You and your husband clearly don't deserve to go out to nice places because you don't know how to act! We finally came to the soft opening and surprisingly enough the decor is fabulous and takes me back to authentic Chinese. The food is unique and wonderful all in the same breath. I suggest you dine in as it will not disappoint. All the staff are super friendly and most accommodating. Cannot wait to revisit on a weekly basis. Suggest you ask for Lychee gelato!!!!! read more

I don't think that I have ever given a rating this low to a restaurant where the food was pretty good, but they have a problem. They make it very obvious that they want you in and out as fast as possible. Eating in a restaurant is not only aboiut the food. It's also a social experience. At first we though that it was our waiter, but we have given this place a second and third chance and its clear that "get 'em in and get 'em out" is restaurant policy. read more

I searched all of Ling Island for the best Chinese food and O Madarian was rated #1. Unfortunately, it's not. First of all I tried ordering thru Grub hub and I got the confirmation that it will be ready at 3:45. I had gotten there 10 minutes early and I entered just to let them know, and on her way back the hostess said it was ordered, and it will be ready shortly. Unfortunately, 30 seconds later I got a text that it was canceled. I traveled 30 minutes to get to the restaurant and to have egg in my face. I wasn't happy!!!! So I ordered it again!!! This time the hostess took my phone number and promised that she will call me when it was ready!!! So I went to my car, waited 20 minutes, and finally decided to enter because no one called me. As soon as I entered their were 2 different people, and I had given my name and guess what??? My order was ready!!!! I had mentioned to them that I expected a courtesy call, and they seemed dumbfounded. I don't appreciate my time being wasted overall 45 minutes. Now let's get to the food review!!! The rice that I ordered was too bland. As for the General Tso chicken it have to demote the General to Sargeant!!! The spicy shrimp was very good!!! The ribs were just ok. Food was excellent as well as the ambiance. There were six of us in our party and we ordered a few appetizers and six entrees. My dish was served 15 minutes before the others. We are fish eaters and three of us ordered whole fish. The fried whole fish was listed in the menu at a reasonable $48. We also ordered the two of the whole fish specials which was black sea bass and assumed it would be around the same price. When the bill came we were shocked to see that each fish special was $138!!! We spoke to the waitress and she said that's the price but she never told us when she described the special. We spoke to the manager and he actually said that black sea bass is a difficult fish to come by. It's a fish we often order elsewhere priced in the 30's or 40's. He said that's the way it is. No apology. We told him that even though the food was good we will never return because of his attitude. read more

Had dinner here Saturday night with friends, I'll start with my boyfriend barely fit under the table, speaking of table I believe the table is designed to appear ancient but that being said there was food in the cracks of the table, needless to say we did not get off to a good start. Ordered the lettuce wraps which were bland and uneventful, also the spare rib appetizer, although a nice portion they were deep fried and inedible. the Mongolian beef was meh but the chinese eggplant and the hot and sour soup were very good. The duck fried rice which we couldn't''t wait to try was again just took and uneventful. Our family ordered 10 dishes, mostly well presented and delicious. Staff was great! The only complaint I have is the Peking Duck. It should have been presented as a whole duck and sliced in front of the guests and served just like everywhere else. I feel for $85 a whole duck I deserve that as part of the entertainment during a great dining experience. read more

When I called the restaurant to make a lunch reservation during the week, I asked if they had the lunch special for $15 which they said they had. We were 10 people and when we got to the restaurant the told us that they did not have a lunch special. Only when I told them that all 10 of us were going to leave did they agree to give us the lunch special. So, it started off bad from the beginning. Never was in a Chinese restaurant that gave you one tiny wonton in your wonton soup. They charge $6 for a pot of tea which no Chinese restaurant ever does and they do not have Chinese noodles to start the meal which is also unusual. The restaurant was pretty empty when we were there so maybe they should try harder to please. With so many other Chinese restaurants, we would not go back again. Great parking lot, though! read more

Upscale atmosphere in elegantly decorated rooms. Authentic cuisine we did not find too unusual for our American taste.. Rib app was delicious. Wonton soup, too. Entrees seemed light and healthy compared to standard LI Chinese food. Lots of veggies in all dishes. Lemon yuzu tea was a great way to end our meal. read more

This place is a gem. Food is always on point whenever ive eaten here. From the thousand layers tofu to the Veg chao mein to the dan dan noodles to the cheng du fried rice to the mapo tofu to the puffy scallion pancake to the kung pao tofu, absolutely everything is delicious. This place is considered good for Long Island standards. It is exactly what you expect in terms of pricing and quality for this area. Growing up in Queens I am extremely spoiled when it comes down to good Asian eats. We ordered the sesame chicken and Dan Dan noodles for the kids and the twice cooked pork belly. The pork belly was not as spicy as we thought it would be and the sesame chicken wasn't crispy and a bit chewy in texture. Dan Dan noodles were okay, not the best sauce I've had, a bit too salty and oily for my liking. Overall not a bad meal when you factor not having to travel all the way into Queens to get your asian fix. read more

Wow, what an incredible experience! We had Mom's birthday dinner last night and were impressed by the surprisingly gorgeous ambience. Felt like we were swept away for two hours in another world, a place to enjoy our interesting meal. For starters, we had the Chengdu Mouthwatering Chicken. It was simple yet delicious. Then we had the Crispy Wild Mushrooms which were crunchy, light, and reminiscent of potato chips in a delightful way. Country Style Pork & Chili was nicely sliced thin with chili peppers, but the showpiece of the evening was the Chili Oil Stew with Fish Fillet. It was made with perfection and not overpoweringly spicy. On top of that, the entire dining experience was exemplified by our bubbly server Veera with her super-friendly assistant Chris. Terrific food - a great addition in town. One minor annoyance: our server asked us if we wanted still or sparkling water. Regardless of what you say, you will get a $4 bottle of water. I'm not one of those people that will do a tasting flight of various bottles of water - water is water. I guess you have to say, "neither - straight out of the faucet." Why create the impression that you've been tricked into being charged $4 when you're clearly there to spend a lot more to begin with??? read more

Ok food. It could be a lot better. We ordered a dish that was supposed to be spicy and we even said we wanted it spicy. It wasn't and on our receipt it said "less spicy". I think they do this if you're white. Pisses me off. Really uneven service. When you are spending that much money...to sit there for twenty minutes without a drink order taken, without anyone coming over to check on you, to constantly have to flag people down for things. The servers were nice, they just seem very understaffed. And again, when you are paying that much money, there is a level of service that is expected. read more
