Husband found this place and came by for dinner on Wednesday night. Apparently, it's so new that it's only been open for 1 week! Glad we were able to enjoy it during their early days, since it was no crowded, and service was attentive. We ordered: 1) Takoyaki octopus balls = these were great; reminds me of the ones I get in NYC or along the streets of Tokyo/Osaka 2) Monkey balls = these were fried mushroom balls; delicious 3) Tsukemen ramen = cold ramen noodles with warm steamy tonkotsu broth; decent flavors and the noodles were chewy. I think the tsukemen served at Tsujita Ramen in Los Angeles is still better though. 3.5 stars. 4) Tonkatsu ramen = husband had this dish and thought it was 3.5 stars. My family had traveled to Bakersfield to visit my sister who lives there. We were looking out for somewhere to eat for dinner and decided upon this place. We ordered some appetizers, Takoyaki and Agedashi Tofu. The flavor profile and textures of both were good. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, and I thought it was delicious! I have been to this place many times and I have never in my life been treated so horribly at a food service place. The guy i talked to literally made me break down and cry in the center of the restaurant. I ordered ramen Togo because I have 100 degree fever and wanted something to soothe my throat, I got home and they only gave me broth. No noodles, no insides nothing. I went back to get it and he argued and told me they gave it to me so they're not going to fix it and literally called me a liar. Said "they have cameras" so I said go and check them. After going back and forth 5 minutes I literally broke down and started crying and I think he just wanted to get me out so they made my noodles which was literally all I wanted. Make sure you're prepared or call to make reservations (if available). Service was lightening fast and you can tell they have it down to a science. I ordered the Ramen + Rice dish combo. Let me tell you, it's a ton of food. A large bowl of Ramen (that lasted another meal) plus a rice dish? Phew! I was stuffed! The soy based ramen was flavorful and rich. The meat wasn't too fatty and noodles were perfect texture. The garlic rice dish was so yummy. I added a bit of soy sauce because... well... I love soy. Boyfriend said I ruined it, but the puffy fingers the next day were well worth it. In all, I enjoyed O Ramen. The monkey balls were okay. Not something I'd consider ordering again. When we got here on a Sunday afternoon on the way home from Norcal, it was pretty busy when we walked in. So we added our names to the waitlist right at the entrance, there were about four or five parties ahead of us, but we were seated after 20 minutes. The food was good, Ramen noodles were slightly over cooked to my husbands liking, as he prefers still being able to have some bite to it when enjoying it with broth, however I enjoyed the cook on the ramen. We arrived to the restaurant around 2:19pm. When we entered the restaurant, we were told that there is a small wait (about 20-30 min). We asked the staff if we will get a spot since they are closed from 3-5pm. The host/hostess assured us that there is no concern with that, apologized for the wait, and said that our table will be ready when other customers will finish eating. We were completely fine with the wait and were picking menu items (prior to being sit down) so we would make life easier for the staff. There were other individuals in front of us, waiting for a table as well. Over time, they were steadily getting seated. At 2:50pm, we were the last customers waiting to get seated. The host/hostess approached us and said that we are unable to accommodate you because our chef has gone on break and we do not want to clean another table and have you stay into our break time. We were shocked!!! We waited for 30 min and then were told that we can either wait till 5pm or they can prepare take-out for us. We said that everyone else was seated, that we waited for more than 30min, and now are being told to leave. The response was basically "tough luck". By any restaurant standards, this is completely unacceptable. That is just unprofessional service, business, and overall treatment of customers. Why not tell us from the get-go that we can not accommodate you? We would have went to another restaurant because we wanted to find a sit-down place. On the search for ramen places I found this place on Yelp. I decided to try it out and see what it's all about! I read some of the reviews and this place seemed promising. I had a party of 2 and there were 3 parties of 2 ahead of us. Within 10 minutes we got seated. We got seated on the left side of the restaurant. The layout was quite interesting. We got sat down right in front of the kitchen. The kitchen had a cutout and you can see all the chefs make the food and we were close enough to hear all of their conversations too. For appetizers we started off with the Monkey Ball (panko fried mushrooms), Seaweed Salad, and Fried Calamari. The mushrooms were the best of the 3 appetizers. They're served with spicy mayo and the spicy mayo here is quite runny compared to the average spicy mayo but it's not bad! The seaweed salad was interesting. I felt like it should be renamed "Cabbage Bowl with Seaweed Salad" because it was 75% cabbage and 25% seaweed salad. It was good but I really wish they served more seaweed salad. We weren't too impressed by it. The fried calamari was really good but definitely on the chewier side. Every time we took a bite and tried ripping the pieces off the entire calamari ring would slide out of the breading. It's also served with the spicy mayo. The calamari rings had some good spice and overall it was good. Now for the ramen! We ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and the Kutobuta 'O Don combo (Soy Sauce broth ramen but it doesn't come with egg so I ordered egg for it). The Tonkotsu ramen was alright. The broth was decently flavorful and they serve quite a bit of noodles. I was a bit bummed out that the eggs are just boiled and not marinated like most ramen places. Also the lack of fish cake made me a bit sad but still not bad at all! The Kutobuta combo was good. The broth was a bit more flavorful and it was as dense as the Tonkotsu. Still had a lot of noodles and overall decent flavors. It also came with a rice bowl with pork belly. The porky belly was soft and I ordered it with their fried rice (waitress recommended it that way) which was really really tasty. Both ramen needed flavor boosters for sure however. Overall this place wasn't too bad. Good enough to come back but for sure not the best I've had. What really helped this place get a 4 out of 5 stars was the service. Very very good service. They checked in on us and even refilled waters without us asking!! The ambiance of the place was welcoming and definitely a good place to eat for ramen! read more

For Bakersfield, it is absolutely ok. But we have been to Ramen places all over the Bay Area. This was a 4 star for a pitstop for roadtrips. But if you are expecting Japanese thick broths and authentic Japanese Ramen noodles, this might not be it. We loved what we had. Friends, coworkers, and fam raved about this place to me so I had to try it finally with my bf. Loved the ambiance of the place and the soulful music playing. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen, my bf ordered the Tantanmen Ramen and we had the 6 pieces chicken gyoza. The gyoza and sauce was good and flavorful. My ramen was really flavorful and really delicious! I wanted to order extra chashu pork because I was thinking it wasn't enough, but I'm glad I didn't order because the whole bowl was enough! My bf's was really good as well, except that it was extra spicy (at least when I got to taste the broth). My bf said it was really good; he wasn't expecting it to be that super spicy, but again flavorful and delicious! I liked that his came with more veggies in it. I'll probably ask if I'd be able to add bean sprouts or other veggies next time I come here. Our service was good and didn't really need our waters refilled since we didn't want to get too full drinking our waters then drinking the broth-y soup. This is one of the better ramen restaurants in Bakersfield. I always get the Tantanmen ramen with a side of corn. I like my food to be spicy, so don't get the Tantanmen if you can't handle a little spice. My husband likes to enjoy the broth, so he opts for the Tonkotsu ramen instead. Delicious! I went here for the first time last week for lunch and had a great experience. I tried the Tantanmen, it was great. The service was quick I was seated immediately, my food arrived quickly after I ordered it and the staff was very friendly. The ramen was spicy but not overbearing it was just to my liking. The soft boiled egg was amazing I wanted another one in there and might pay the extra to have a second egg included next time. There was plenty of ramen noodles and pork in there as well. I left full and not feeling like it was overpriced I don't mind paying $15 for a meal and drink as long as I leave fully and it was tasty, all of the above were met with this meal.
