Can you really ask for anything more? I've tried the Tantanmen and Tonkatsu Ramen, both in which the broth is so flavorful and the pork tender. O Ramen is seriously Ohhhhhhhhhhh soooooooooooo good! There's not another ramen place in town that even comes close to how amazing the ramen is here at O ramen! The portions here are pretty big as well! My fiancé and I share a bowl together and an appetizer and there's still always some left over! We personally love love love the Tantuman spicy beef with Japanese ramen noodles, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, green onions, and a pork of some short , and a perfectly cooked egg! Words don't describe how amazingly delicious that dish is! Today I got a side of their garlic rice and it was super delicious for being only $3! The service is here is absolutely terrible. I came her with my 3 sisters and 2 nephews who are 2 and 3 years old. When it came to paying the bill, they charged a 18% service fee claiming there is 6 people. We were confused and we started to tell them how the kids don't count as they barely ate and didn't even use their own plate and utensils. They continued with saying how the water glass for the kids and the plastic utensils are part of the service. We didn't even ask for these things? We talked to 2 different managers and they weren't being cooperative at all. They ended with saying "You can just find another restaurant to go to." I will not be coming here again. read more

This place is trash. No flavor what's so ever. I added an additional entree to my Ramen because it lacked so much flavor and was served a "Soba Plate" that was not even soba. Garlic rice waS 1/10 as well I could have done better at home with a $1 pack of top ramen noodles and saved about $140 . Aside from the food 2/10. The lemonade was good. The waitress was RUDE, she had ZERO patience and very little interest in explaining the menu to my family. I will be trying the Ramen place on 19th street next. I hear it's a bit pricey but I'd rather pay more and enjoy my meal as opposed to wasting $140 dollars for my Family and not get my monies worth. Zero starts if possible. I always order the Tantanmen ramen. Lately, the owner has been very stingy on the meat portion. The slices on the chashu (pork) comes out almost paper thin and it's mostly fat. Literally looks like scraps of fatty meat serve onto my bowl. It's so DISAPPOINTING because we always order here, so we know exactly how the order should be like. I get that maybe sometimes there's a short supply on your meat, but don't try to charge $13 on something that won't satisfy your customers. This happened to my order 3 times. It sucks because I've been supporting their business since they first open, but I won't be coming back anymore. read more

I love ramen! I'm from a Japanese family and I've lived in Hawaii, a place full of delicious Japanese ramen shops. So, when I'm looking to eat ramen, I'm looking for something authentic. It's all in the noodles and the broth and I just didn't get that from here. I ordered a tonkotsu ramen. The broth itself was lacking a lot of flavor. The coloring was much different and more white than traditional tonkotsu broth,and it tasted completely different than any I'd tasted before. I ordered to-go and the broth was pipping hot, but the noodles, char siu and egg were all really cold. The noodles were okay. I did really like the takoyaki. They were cooked very crisp and there was a lot of tako in each piece. For being in Bakersfield, this was enough to satisfy my ramen craving, but it did fall short in taste for me. read more

Just bad! Went there with my wife and friends. We were one of the first tables seated and one of the last tables to receive part of our food. My wife's ramen wasn't even made correct. We had to ask for the spices that come in the ramen separately because they didn't add it. My food never arrived our friends let them know I never got it and the waitress refused to come to our table and so they had another male waiter came who was some what helpful. I just asked him to take it off the ticket and not bring the food. I wasn't going to eat by myself and I was probably not going to like the food. I use to love going to this place but now it's just horrible to go to. We drove from the Central Coast to come eat here. This place is def the best ramen in Bakersfield! Not up to par with LA ramen, but if you live in Bakersfield and are craving a warm bowl of ramen, this is the place to get it! Whenever I go, I usually get the tantanmen - its the spicy one and is pretty tasty! I've tried the tonkotsu ramen a long time ago, but I've forgotten if I liked it or not.. it was when the Ramen place first opened and didn't have the seasoned egg yet...but they do the seasoned egg now! LOVE the seasoned egg! Ramen just isn't ramen without that delicious soft boiled seasoned egg!! My fiancé had the chicken ramen once and wasn't a fan..but I think it might have a slight fishy taste..maybe fish sauce in it? Not his thing..but when we go, he'll get the chicken katsu rice bowls which he really loves! As for apps, I've tried the monkey balls which were really yummy! Yay! Another ramen shop in Bakersfield! This place satisfies my ramen craving without having to go all the way to LA at Daikokuya. I really love what they did with the remodeling of this place. Remember it used to be the old, dingy looking J's place. Now, it's hip! When I first tried the Tonkatsu, I was unimpressed. I ordered it with the garlic rice combo. Actually, the entire meal was just meh. The rice needed more seasoning and where was the garlic? I gave it another chance bc my friends wanted to try this place out. I tell everyone O ramen is the only place I would get ramen in Bako.... and though I may return... I was a bit disappointed at how much they have changed their Tonkotsu ramen recipe. The broth used to be so rich, fatty and even milky from cooking the bone for a long time.. but it started to thin out and I started to taste more bonito than porky wonderfulness. I was going to still accept that as it was still the best in Bako.... but today I cried a little inside when I noticed their noodle was changed to this flimsy lifeless thing & their egg was cooked completely....hard boiled egg?? Really?? ;( Everything else though - tempura, monkey ball, kaarage were all still good. I hope they read this and return their tonkotsu ramen back to its original recipe. My husband and I visited this cute little ramen shop after hours of Christmas shopping. This place did not disappoint! The servers were so sweet and friendly, and offered refills quite often. The takoyaki was incredible and perfectly gooey. The octopus portion of the takoyaki was perfectly cooked and not tough like other places in town. The tonkatsu ramen was silky smooth and full of flavor. Ramen was served in an enormous bowl and at a perfect temperature. Jeez, where do I begin? First off, I will start by saying that I am very picky about my Japanese food. I have eaten at a lot of different places and some just didn't make the cut, especially in regards to Ramen. We planned to go all out at O Ramen because we seldom go out to eat at sit down places and Bakersfield seems to be seriously lacking in the ramen department. We were very excited to try it, to say the least. We were greeted with a warm, "Irasshaimase!" When we entered and were promptly seated. There isn't a ton of seating here but it is still pretty spacious. We ordered two appetizers, the Agedashi tofu and the vegetable Gyoza. We also inquired about their alcohol menu and we came to find out that they just acquired their liquor license! We ordered a Sapporo, Umeshu (plum wine), and a bottle of milky Sake. Thank god for alcohol. Just a tip, by the way...the plum wine comes in a little jar! I've never had it served this way but it was good, nonetheless. For our entrees, we each ordered the Shio Tofu Ramen with extra bean sprouts, corn, bamboo, egg, and chili oil for some spice. The appetizers came out promptly and the entrees followed shortly after. The Agedashi Tofu was some of the best I've ever had. It had a light crisp on the outside and the inside was fluffy. It came on a bed of cabbage and was topped with green onions and what I believe might've been eel sauce. So good! The vegetable Gyoza appeared to have been lightly pan fried and the filling was awesome. It was some sort of veggie purée and had lots of great flavor. The ramen was excellent, and I don't just say that about any ramen. The broth made my whole belly feel warm. It was literally overflowing with perfectly cooked veggies: corn, carrots, broccoli, cabbage, and bean sprouts. Admittedly, I did add tons more corn and an egg because I have a soft spot for both of those things. I am sooo in love with the eggs at O Ramen! They're super good if you let them soak in the broth for a bit. I also have to commend the servers here on their friendliness. They made us feel welcome and even took the time to chat with us and answer any questions we had. We had a lovely time and will definitely be back to O Ramen. I hope that they expand their menu a little bit. I would definitely like to see some curry on that menu! read more

Love the slightly sweet taste of cabbages in the ramen as it compliments the broth. * My son is loving the tonkatsu ramen and always eating a lot when he comes here! Try both ramen and see which one will be your favorite. I also have to say that their ramen noodles are chewy and delicious with the broths. Tried this place for the first time last night. Staff was extremely courteous and the wait was very short. They have a good selection to choose from and definitely look forward to trying it again. We ordered Monkey balls, Seaweed salad, Chicken Katsu, Tonkotsu Ramen and tofu Ramen. All the dishes were very tasty. My only recommendation would be to serve more broth with the ramen. The bowl is very big but the amount of broth barely reached the half way mark. I have recommended this place to some family members to try it out. We will definitely be back read more

This was my first time here at here so I was really excited to try this place as I've only ever tried ramen in Bakersfield twice. I've had friends and family recommend it so I was eager to see what the hype was about. I ordered the Tsukemen so I can really gauge the flavor of the noodles, broth and add-one separately. The Tsukemen was not that exciting as it tasted exactly like the Tonkatsu someone else at my table ordered. I was hoping for a more unique experience from that alone. Aside from that I tasted 3 other dishes that others at our table ordered and would definitely order something else next time. I rated this place 4 stars solely due to the restaurant ambience, flavor of the calamari and the Tsukemen. The restaurant was very quiet so I wish there was more ambience like maybe light music or anything else, also there are two secluded sides so it felt really disconnected. Also, the flavor of the calamari made it taste exactly like I was eating frozen mozzarella sticks, but other than that I don't have many other critiques. On a really positive note, I would return just for the hospitality, the staff was really amazing, accommodating, and super polite! I really each staff member's enthusiasm and level of engagement. Easy place to find right in Zaika plaza. Plenty of parking in off hours. We came around 7pm and there was a lot of parking on opening day. Ambience is nice and relax when you walk in. Not too crowded but there a lot of space inside. The one weird thing was that they were playing Thai music inside. I ordered the tonkatsu ramen and I gotta say it's pretty good. The broth could be a little thicker but overall good flavor. Noodles are decent. Good flavor. Overall I would give this place a 4.5 stars out of 5.
