This particular O'Reilly Auto Parts is located at the very end of Webster street in Alameda. Great location with a parking lot. I usually come here for simple auto parts like all weather floor mats etc. On this occasion I needed windshield wipers desperately (being that I haven't changed them in a few years) during the little rain showers we had last week in the Bay Area. Walking in I was greeted by an employee Adrian. He asked if I needed any assistance and I told him I was looking for windshield wiper blades. He looked up the size for my car and helped me decide which brand to buy. After purchasing the wiper blades, Adrian also assisted me by attaching the new ones to my car in the parking lot. I thought he provided very good customer service. So for simple Auto Parts and good customer service, this location is great.

I went into the store to replace my windshield wipers and Henry (the manager) assisted me right away, pulled the wipers, and installed them for me in a couple minutes while I waited.

So many auto parts stores reply 'we don't accept oil right now - all our tanks are full' - and I've never heard that from this location. Its very simple - you drop it off in their original containers and it has to be only oil and there is no issue. Beyond that I went in for some diesel additives for my CDi - I really like that car - it replaced my Pitzaaat and its my freeway cruiser and I know the engine will last to one million miles but the downfall of these cars is always the injection system. It can cost $5k+ to rebuild them and then $3k more for all new fuel hoses and injectors and intake cleaning and so on. In short the low sulfur since 2006 that ruined diesel lubricity and so the wear on the injection pump mostly fails at 200k - 300k when all the rest of the drive train will happily soldier on for many more miles. The only solution is to add something to the diesel fuel: XPD all in one, Hotshots secret everyday or Power Service or similar. I heard even adding a bit of Marvel Myster Oil works but I didn't see the data - I know the above three work and I know that this location has Hotshots and Power Service. I bought a bottle of each and will alternate with ever fill up. While I was there I bought some LiqiMoly for my Honda - Jectron - and while it was in the tank the car ran silly smooth - it usually jitters a little like a person with too much caffeine. Oil brands can be a very divisive topic. As is oil additives. I think in general you don't need them if you go to Chevron and change your oil often. If you have a diesel I would recommend you research the fuel lubricity topic yourself and make your own call on it. If you do buy a new $100k diesel truck - there is a lot at stake that perhaps a $10 bottle could help.

I asked if they can help me diagnosis a check engine light an the response was like "sure I guess". I let it go an wanted to give them a try anyway, I should of js said said nvm an called it a day though. came with a check engine light and nothing but desperation to get my car fixed. I was tired of dealing with a p171 code an came here since it was close. I got charged 175 for a diagnosis check per hour. When I got there they said everything was OK with my car, the sensors , mass air flow meter cleaned out, hose fixed. My engine light was cleared out an not even 5 minutes later it came back on. He told me to let him know if it came on, and i messaged them with no response. I'm not going to go back to be charged another 175 for no diagnosis or solution. Fast forward to a monday, I took my car to my regular mechanic and all the problems that was mentioned at this shop he fixed. He replaced my o2 sensors , my hose was incorrectly placed, I had a power steering leak a minor one, and he changed out the mass flow thing. Now my car feels perfect and I haven't had a check engine light since I brought it to him. And he didn't charge me to diagnose my car either. They kept my car all day an called me 15 mins to closing to get it to just clear my light and waste my time. I had faith in this due to the reviews but I just feel scammed honestly. I wouldn't come back everything they said wasn't a issue my mechanic said was. How ironic.
