Came by for some Shabu Shabu after seeing a show at the ice house. There was no wait around 8pm, and we were quickly seated for a table. Pretty traditional shabu shabu without all the frills of some of the other places like Jazz Cat. We got the Pork and Beef combo with just regular soup base. All tasted good and it was a quick meal. My only complaint is that it didn't seem like there was too much meat. If you are VERY hungry, you probably need to get the XL size. Service was fast, but the place did become pretty empty at 9pm. When we left, there was only one guy left there eating.

    Shabu set - Angus Beef

We were around the area and honestly haven't been here since high school! Although, I believe it was the same quality and taste how it was back then. We came around 5:30pm and there were quite some people dining already. It does get crowded much later, so recommended to come early! Parking is very small and shared with other stores, so you're likely to do street parking around. At least street parking around here is very easy. We were seated and the service here is pretty friendly and also very efficient. They're extremely quick when they're setting up, laying out the food, and cleaning up the table. Everything goes by pretty quickly haha. We ordered just all konbu broth, 2 sets of rib eye and 2 sets of angus beef. Everything was pretty alright. The veggie bowl was pretty standard. I mainly had the angus beef and it was more on the tough side. It doesn't taste like high quality meat, so it's just very basic. The ribeye is a bit more fattier, but my dad did not seem to enjoy that one as much either haha. The ponzu sauce was fine, the sesame sauce however tasted more like mayo? I wish it was more stronger in sesame sauce. There's many non-Asian people dining here, so maybe the mayo is to cater for a more 'familiar' taste. Overall, I would say there's nothing really too special dining here. Your typical shabu joint. It does seem like it's catered to non-Asian customers here. It is very clean and spacious here though. Service is good!

Wow! The feast for TWO is a special menu, if you don't see it, you must ask for it. For me if you plan on eating with another person, this is the perfect meal! It comes with your choice of soup for 2, your own protein choices and you can upgrade your meat to a larger amount for a few bucks more, then you get to pick from premium appetizers, you get a choice of beer, sake or soda and lastly you get an amazing dessert. For me I loved that monster tempura matcha ice cream. Everyone gets a bowl of veggies and udon. If you don't like the variety of veggies, just say cabbage and tofu only. My favorite broth is the sukiyaki broth and love how it comes with an optional raw egg for dipping your just cooked meats. My favorite meat has to be the karubi aka short rib beef because it's marbled really well. It's easy to find parking and I love it so much!

The soup base was clean and I appreciate redeeming the SGV Passport Deal. Free Edamame and Add-On. The meat was sliced thin so it cooked fast. Ordered the sukiyaki: 1. Chicken 2. Veggies 3. Udon 4. Rice 5. Lamb My niece wanted a lemonade. I was not a fan of the peanut sauce. Overall, it was a quick lunch with my niece.

I've been wanting to come here and really loved the overall ambiance as well as the food. I came in with a group of four and was seated right away, with plenty of seats still available. We ended up getting two "Feast for Two" meals, which came with a generous amount of food that will definitely leave you full. Each meal included an appetizer, two drinks, two large portions of meat, two special shabu soups, and a single dessert for $70. Here are the selections I tried: Fried Tempura - Fried perfectly, and the sauce it came with was great. I would recommend it. (4.5/5) Angus Prime Beef - Solid quality and very tasty. The large portion is quite satisfying. I would get this one again. (5/5) Karubi - This one was interesting, but still good. I personally preferred the prime beef more. (4/5) Broth - I tried both the Sukiyaki and the Spicy Miso. In my opinion, the Spicy Miso was a bit on the lighter side for my taste, but I really enjoyed the Sukiyaki. Sukiyaki: (4.5/5) Spicy Miso: (4/5) Tempura Ice Cream - This was interesting--strange, yet still good. It's definitely unique for a fried ice cream, and the green tea ice cream it came with was excellent. Not sure if I'd get it again, but overall, it was good. (4/5) Overall, I would come back here. The food was great, the service attentive, and we really enjoyed our time (we spent about two hours hanging out).

    Choice Rib Eye Meal

Came to O'seyo and I don't know, maybe I just ordered the wrong thing, but it was just very average. I got the regular choice ribeye meal with the kombu broth. The vegetable bowl included a solid amount of napa cabbage, a slice of kabocha, king oyster mushrooms, broccoli, and udon. You'll also get a little dish of sesame sauce and ponzu. You also have the option of fortifying your sauce with pre minced garlic, daikon, or scallions. Overall, I felt like everything was tepid. I don't know if it was a lack of salt or if it was because some of the ingredients like the garlic, daikon, and scallions were prepped long before, but it was just missing a certain oomph that shabu often provides. Moreover, a few pieces of my napa were bitter which were very off putting when I happened to pull them. Pricewise, O'seyo is good value. I also felt like my regular portion was just enough food. I just don't think it'll be my first choice to come back to when in Pasadena.

This is my go to place when I want something warm and delish. They have a happy hour special where I get their beef hot pot. Comes with all the side fixings and unlimited broth. Food is fresh and their dipping sauces finishes each bite. The best thing, I can walk from home. The restaurant is always clean and staff is always welcoming. They recognize me and always welcome me with a smile and "welcome back".

A very nice shabu place that you can go alone and they have special menu for 1 and 2 person. It's super worth it! The set comes with house sake as well which I think is very nice and strong. The shabu is very delicious. I ordered extra side dishes but only the set will make me full. The meat is tender. They give you appropriate veggies and noodles. Lovely service. Parking lot is free, which is a plus in Pasadena.

This is not your typical AYCE shabu place. Rather, you order your protein and size and then get the accompanying veggies and carbs. I think for a non AYCE place, the price is fair and the portion is reasonable! I walk out of here comfortably full. The food and the sauces all taste yummy! No complaints! I've come here twice with girlfriends and it's always been a good time. I don't think I've ever felt rushed. The service is nice and everyone is helpful and friendly. The ambiance isn't something to brag about but it's a clean establishment, there are clean restrooms, and there's a free parking lot or free street parking nearby. I'd say the restaurant is on the smaller side so if you're coming with a large group, be prepared! My friends and I recently went during their happy hour pricing, so def check that out for a little discount! Anyways, this is a convenient place to come to when I have a shabu itch.

This place has been in Pasadena for over 10 years now. My dad and I came here and got the feast for 2. Super filling!! You get to pick an appetizer and drink, then 2 soup bases. You end with a dessert. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They help you bag up anything you are taking home. This place is family friendly or solo dining friendly too. They have deals for both. High quality meat + lots of veggies which I like.

very delicious, but slightly expensive. we each ordered a large shabu shabu and finished all the food with no leftovers. service was quick and restaurant was clean. would definitely come back, but probably order the meal for 2 since it seemed like a better deal ordered: large angus prime beef shabu

    Dipping sauces

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a long while but there is always a line so... Today, I went there just as they opened at 11am so it was all good . The restaurant offers a good deal for 1 person: 1 appetizer, 1 drink, a choice of protein, choice of broth, and came with dipping sauces, veggie plate, and rice. AND, Happy Hour menu was also available to order! Appetizer: I chose takoyaki. Man, it was delicious !! I chowed it down in no time. Protein: I got chicken. I had regular size and it was plenty and very good. Drink: i chose iced green tea, but you could choose soda and other stuff. Broth: Sukiyaki and it tasted just right, not too sweet and not too salty. Of course, the 1-person deal also came with 2 dipping sauces, a bowl of rice and the veggie plate which also had udon. This place is now one of my favorite restaurants. Besides, I would love to try other broths, appetizer, and Happy Hour menu items .

My only gripe (what makes this 4 stars instead of 5) is their broth can be very inconsistent with spice. Brought family that can't handle spice so when we ordered the beef broth, we ordered it mild and it still came out incredibly spicy, despite that not being the case when previously ordered. It made the one side nearly inedible for several people. There's a few large fairly inexpensive parking structures within a block of the restaurant which helps a lot with parking.

This was my second time here and overall it's a great experience- fun sauce bar, quick service, elaborate decor - what's not to like? As far as the eating experience goes, I'd give it a solid 4... that is until I went to the ladies room...or tried to. This was my first time going to the restroom and I was appalled by the mustiness of the air and the dirtiness that I saw. I'm familiar with restrooms at basic restaurants and I don't expect aromatherapy candles or scented hand soap but as a consumer I do expect a certain level of cleanliness especially at an eating establishment. I tried to just suck it up and bear it but had to leave as soon as a saw a thin black ring around the toilet bowls...(mold?!?!) Sorry if it's too much info but just had to share- go for the food and the picture worthy decor but skip the bathrooms till they have a thorough clean!

The staff were consistently kind, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing, which made the whole experience feel easy and enjoyable. The restaurant itself was very clean and well-organized. Customer service stood out in a really positive way--everyone was patient, helpful, and genuinely seemed to care that guests were having a good time. Most importantly, the food was high-quality and fresh. The ingredients tasted well-prepared and thoughtfully selected, and the hot pot experience felt both satisfying and well put together. Overall, Happy Ace Hot Pot stands out for its cleanliness, kind service, strong work ethic, and consistently high-quality food. I would definitely come back and recommend it.

He helped us with our order and kindly explained that because of the rush, the meat and soup might take a little longer to arrive. He reassured us and suggested we grab some cooked food first while waiting for the hot pot. We really appreciated his thoughtful service and patience--it made our experience much more enjoyable. Thank you, Lucas!

Mo Mo Paradise has always been my favorite AYCE hotpot place in Southern California. I've been to a…read morefew different locations throughout Socal, yet surprisingly this was my first time at the Arcadia location. I was lucky enough to snag a same-day reservation at dinner time for a party of five. It gets busy so I always recommend getting a reservation online. Parking is easy. There is a parking structure behind the restaurant. There aren't any big signs pointing to it so keep an eye out for a side street opening into a small parking garage. As always, the soups are very flavorful and the meats are always tender and delicious. They allow you to select two soups per pot and I always get a sukiyaki. I love that it comes with poached raw eggs too. I always get the beefs and they always hit so good. My favorite is the wagyu beef curry. It is soooo good and I always get multiple plates of it. Now, the reason why I gave this place 3/5 stars today is unfortunately due to the service. I usually have such a great time at the other Mo Mo Paradise locations I have been to, but unfortunately I felt extremely rushed during this visit. For the majority of our visit, we had a great time. But when we ordered our third round of meats, we found out that we had missed our "Last Call" time and only had 10 minutes left to sit. Our server had unfortunately forgotten to tell us when our "Last Call" was and did not ask us if we wanted to order anything else. This was so disappointing, since I felt like we had barely ordered any meats at this point. Feels bad, especially considering we spent $250+ for this meal. They did give us ice cream, but during these last 10 minutes, the server kept coming to our table saying - "you only have 7 minutes left... you only have 4 minutes left... etc." I was rushing to eat my ice cream so fast. At one point, the server started clearing our plates and our pots while we were finishing our meal. I remember eating a carrot and the server almost pulled the plate from me as I took a bite :( She said she would come back in a minute... The server seemed to be guilt tripping us a little bit too :// She kept telling us that the next party was waiting for our specific table, but I found that to be weird because the empty table behind us could seat six but they weren't in any rush to finish cleaning that other table for some reason. My friends and I usually come out of Mo Mo Paradise so full and happy, but we just had a sour taste left in our mouth because of they rushing us. We also were unable to eat to our hearts' content :( It was weird, when I left the restaurant there really only seemed to be about five people waiting too... Just not sure what was going on that day but it was Memorial Day weekend... maybe they were understaffed or something... This was a really disappointing experience because of this. I have very high expectations for Mo Mo Paradise and normally this place would get more than 5 stars for me, but it just fell a little short that day.

Disclaimer first, i'm a huge fan of chinese style hotpot. Luckily all that shabu offers a selection of broth and sauces. They are true japanese style, so don't expect mala here, even the chili oil is a bit hidden on containers a bit away from the sauce bar. I tried the spicy beef broth, it has miso flavor and slightly tangy undertone. It has heat, but not spicy at all. The spicy pine sauce and wasabi ponzu (the best!) fulfills my search for heat in this place. All the sauces (except sesame sauce) has acidity/tangyness in it. The meat are good quality and very thin so it's ready in just a few dips. The brisket is fatty, and it's my favorite but only at this place thanks to the acidic profile that cuts through the rich fats. The short plate is very thin and tender, the flat iron steak is more lean. The chuck eye is kinda the middle ground. Unfortunately lamb only served as dinner menu. The vegetable and mushrooms bar have adequate variety, but they only have two kinds of tofu which is soft tofu and fried tofu pockets. No beancurds/tofu skin. They have more selection in seafood though. There's ice cream, soda fountain, green tea and black tea, and even buffet food like fried rice and wonton etc. Overall it's a well-priced hotpot for good quality ingredients, with japanese style broths. And the best thing is they accepts solo diners.
