The apple slaw was browning. The mac n cheese and steak fries were pretty good though. The bbq sauces were standard, it tasted like it was store bought even if it wasn't. Ambience is great, i can see how it can get crowded here, the outdoor seating is ample and the staff are really nice and welcoming, which is why i didn't want to say anything bad about this place. They are attentive and welcoming. We saw three of them come out one by one and spend time with a lone gentleman that seems to be a regular. They have pics of patrons dogs on the wall and will bring water out for your dog. They have a kids menu and crayons. Our server was polite and friendly but she said she's hard of hearing after i asked for one of our orders that didn't come out. If you're hard of hearing, that's ok! But say so when the guest is ordering, not after the fact. And also write down the order to repeat it back! For the sides, i ordered medium size and we got the individual sizes bc she didn't hear (?). It was fine since they weren't that good but this means the bill was way less (for smaller portions and missing a meal) so the restaurant lost on revenue and the server lost on a larger tip. Pairing them with the pimento cheese tastes better than expected. The cornbread was okay. It was not buttery enough for me, but my grandmother loved it. CELIAC WARNING!! This place has several Gluten Free listings on their menu. None of them are actually GF because they don't understand how cross contamination works. They use the same fryer for all fried foods so anything listed GF with chips or fries has been contaminated. Ordered the 2 meat Sampler, picked Brisket and Pulled pork. I chose Jalapeño Mac and Cheese with Burnt End Beans as the sides. I was hoping for cornbread as that is what the menu said, but I got dinner rolls instead. The first slice of brisket was good. I could tell the difference between the Deckle muscle and the flat. The deckle (point meat) was pull apart amazing. The flat however was cut with the grain of the meat vs against so it was extremely "stringy". The second piece was from close to the end and you can tell they didn't trim any fat from between the two muscles and it was extremely chewing and not appetizing. The pork was pretty good, plenty of smoke flavor and very juicy. The Mac and Cheese seemed homemade but the Jalapeño part seemed lacking. There were chopped up peppers in the cheese sauce but it seemed like they were just stirred in last minute as they were crunchy and didn't have much spice or heat.
