This is not about the food but about the ordering online system. When trying to order through restaurant website, it wouldn't allow me to complete order. Site said to call. I called and no one picked up after 30 or so rings. Then I tried to order through Yelp. That worked! Says to come 7:30-7:59. Not wanting our food to be cold, we went a bit early. App still hadn't said order was ready. No text info received either. Curbside pick up location was non existent so I went in. Yup, you guessed it, my food was sitting there....cold. Ugh. So this place had a really good rating on doordash (this is what I get for trusting that shit instead of tried and true yelp) and the menu is formidable. Who can pass up waffle fry nachos and soft pretzels with mustard AND beer cheese? Not us, that's for sure. We ordered from this place for delivery on a Friday evening via door dash. The delivery time was approx ETA. The delivery man couldn't figure out how to get the food to our door which is a common theme for us. This isn't OBT's fault but it's starting to get on my nerves. Anyways, we went with obviously the waffle fry nachos and obviously the soft pretzels. Additionally the tavern harvest grain bowl checked the nutritious box and we threw in the caprese AND garden harvest flatbreads for good measure. Onions and mushrooms on the side, of course. Let's start with the nachos. Waffle fry nachos are absolutely brilliant. As nachos usually are when ordered for delivery, they were soggy. The problem is that the onions were not on the side, as they were requested. I absolutely despise onions and this was an onion RESORT. I couldn't eat anything with toppings because that would undoubtedly contain onions so I had to eat from the bottom. There was no layering of cheese whatsoever so I essentially just had to eat plain waffle fries which kinda defeats the purpose of ordering nachos. This was a big fail. The soft pretzels were also a disappointment. The texture was disappointing, it wasn't soft like a freshly baked soft pretzel should be. The cheese and mustard dips weren't great either. How do you fuck up cheese for god's sake? Seriously, how. The mustard (and I am a HUGE condiment bitch) didn't taste great either. I'm someone who would literally swim in mustard so that's saying something. The flatbreads were ok. The grain bowl was decent. The grains they have mixed in there were pretty good and there were some sweet potato and/or an orange-starchy diced substance that was tasty. I'm not a big fan of artichokes so I didn't eat those and the avocado in there was just meh. It didn't taste as fresh as a nice, juicy, avocado I'm used to consuming tastes. I forgot to mention we got green beans as a side and they were actually probably the best thing. In company of nachos and soft pretzels, that's disappointing. I probably won't be eating from here again. read more

This place is nice. It's really big and I got lost going to the bathroom. I also couldn't see my party from the outside, so yeah... The food was good. It wasn't anything super special or whatnot. I got a pulled pork sandwich and my wife got a burger. The food's what you'd expect. The service was good, friendly and on time. The beer selection was lacking. Not much to say about the place. It's a pretty run of the mill place. That said, I heard their standout point is the whisky selection, which from a quick glance LOOKED great, but since I was driving I didn't indulge. We came in on a Sunday night for a group dinner. They were not busy at all ( a little surprised by how slow it was). If you prefer a low top table you have to specify that when you make a reservation or go in. It was a really nice afternoon/night and we were happy to get a table to wait outside until our whole party had arrived. The patio area is very small but its great that they have outdoor seating. The service was good but not great. Our waitress had to be asked a couple times for a few things and didn't offer or even ask if we wanted refills or more drinks. The food we ordered came out quick and hot. I had the left coast burger with tater tots. The burger was big and I asked for it medium well - it was much more well and a little dry. They tater tots were crispy and perfect. I also ordered the fried pickles and peppers app which everyone at the table loved. Their desserts are frozen desserts that they buy and then defrost. We had the brownie sundae which was OK but nothing to rave about. A few of my friends had the flatbread specials which they said were good and one had the chicken parm which she said she really liked. They have a big parking lot. There is a decent size bar area... it seems like more is focused on the bar area than the regular dining area. My bill came to $37 which really isn't bad at all!! - I had the appetizer, Shipyard pumpkin beer, burger and tots and a dessert - you really can't beat that. read more

One thing I appreciate these days is a restaurant that takes reservations. We had a show to go to the night we went and it takes the stress off when you don't have to worry about how long it will take to get a table. The restaurant it new and clean and has a good layout. Most importantly, the food was fantastic. I order the steak with mashed potatoes and green beans and everything was great. When a restaurant cares enough to make the vegetables taste great you can be sure you found a good place. read more

We came in for lunch and got some sandwiches. The grilled chicken and chicken parm were both great with good size servings. Our waitress was the best part of the visit! Madison (Madi?) was so friendly and gave us multiple recommendations for all parts of the menu(which we took!) We got to chat with her a few times and she was one of the best waitresses we've had. Waiter was amazing! He even took our custom drink order and made the beverages and they were amazing. What a great little hideaway place located near WPI. Very cozy and clean set up inside. Great beer choices and food specialties. We sat at the bar and there were some good size TV's with the local games on. We had two of the local wachusett breweries beers and they were very good. I had the oak barrel burger and it was a good size burger cooked just as I had asked. I loved the OBT bran in the bun, made for a picture. My wife had the pesto chicken Parmesan sandwich. I stopped in with a couple people for lunch recently. Started with the fig and prosciutto flatbread. Delicious! I got the Cajun shrimp bowl over rice. It was very good and the spice of the shrimp was very reasonable. Not "too spicy" at all. Also tried the sweet potato tots. Not only are they also tasty... they're adorable. The service is my favorite thing about OBT. The staff are quick, efficient, and friendly. The food is good but inconsistent.

This place is awesome! I have Celiac and I am constantly looking for GOOD gluten free foods. OBT has a fairly good selection of GF options and they are all very good! I suggest the spinach and artichoke dip with veggies as a starter....(they omit the bread and give just veggies to keep it GF). It is delicious!! They have GF buns if you choose to have that with your burger. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff are very attentive. If you're looking for a wonderful little place to enjoy some great food, I highly recommend OBT. You won't be disappointed!! read more

Hang in here with me folks as I make my first disclaimer! I'm not a "pub" food person. HARD to please when it comes to pubs and "pub" food. And of course, this place was not for me. BUT its not to say it wouldn't appeal to my 30+ year old sons or my 18 year old. The good - its new and open. Jessica was our server, a little delight we met back in the days when Tomasso Trattoria was a place we called home, before the owner used us and stabbed us in the back... and Chef Melnick left. Jessica is WONDERFUL! The ribs are fall off the bone! Really good. And now... my sad story: We thought the bourbon would be an appeal, but the manhattans were ok. The one with the chocolate bitters was weird but good, and the maple was ICK sweet. Not for mama here. The waffle fry nachos are an attempt at a garbage plate. Overly thick potatoes and not well distributed nacho-y stuff make for a mess. We were drinking and hungry, so the fat made it easy to sop up the alcohol. But I would NOT order this mess again. As I said, maybe someone younger and skinny. Not me. I would prefer home made potato chip nachos... uhhuh, that sounds better. The place is super loud. Casual, nicely decorated. Wanted to love it. Don't hate it, but it's not for me. That said, listen to your "grandma yelpy" - if you like pub food, upscaly pub food, HUGE portions, and big burgers - give it a whirl. Grandma says it passes muster. IF you are a "granny aged" yelper like me... and like to eat but not kill your gut... take a pass. This is our family's favorite restaurant. There's something for everyone. My son loves the cheeseburger with the tater tots. My daughter loves the pasta dishes. I love the salmon with broccoli and tater tots and my husband loves the meatloaf with mashed potatoes. The flatbread pizza is also good and the Cobb salad. Have lived nearby for years and have never gone until this past month. This left me asking myself ," Why?" It was great !Onion rings for an app were up there as far as the top 5 places that serve onion rings. My friend had chicken Parmesan and he enjoyed it as evidenced by no box needed to take the rest home (although he probably should have). We broke with tradition and ate a late (4.30 pm late) lunch here upon return from spring break. Fish sandwich: fine. Roast Beef Melt: high marks. Friendly greetings, efficient service at the bar, fun to be out and about with my younger son! It's near WPI, so that was nice, a chance to see another part of town. It looks to have been extensively made over, There is a massive old curving building nearby that looks for all the world like a mill factory, but I can't find a water source anywhere near there. At any rate, The Oak Barrel Tavern is a fine place, and I want to go back to try some more of their menu. read more

Great late lunch/early dinner ('linner') with family. Ribs were a little salty, but otherwise hard to find anything we didn't like Fish tacos were great, mac and cheese was fantastic, flatbread pizza was unique, and dipping sauce for the fried pickle app was used for dipping pretty much everything. Enjoyed the Bloody Mary as well as the Jefferson's Bourbon flight. Would definitely return. read more

Ok, another update, because they've gotten their act together. Good drinks, helpful and friendly service (although we're regulars, which may help.) Food good. Some of the best fish and chips in the area, a decent burger (you might even get medium rare if you ask,) good salads, a decent bowl of chili. Steak tips good, meat loaf ok, though the green beans accompanying both are seriously undercooked. Specials are occasionally fun- a chicken quesadilla was a recent hit, though consistency, not creativity, is the theme here. Solid food and a warm greeting in a pleasant atmosphere.
