I've had very little experience with body shops (fortunately). Our car was sideswiped pretty badly and the person who did it had decent insurance. I had the car towed over to Oak Hill Body & Paint. They were close to our home and on the insurance company's approved list. Chris was incredibly helpful in every way. He got the estimate done quickly. When the insurance company gave him the OK to proceed he told me it'd take about two weeks. Two weeks later, to the day, he called and let us know our car was ready. It actually looked much better than before the accident. Not only did they fix everything perfectly, they detailed the car and it was gleaming! We were very lucky. No one was hurt, the insurance company gave us a rental car for the whole time and Oak Hill Body & Paint did such a great job, it's like it never happened. I was passing through Austin on my way back home when a rock came flying out the air and busted my sunroof (there was construction on the side of the road). Oak Hill Body was very close by so I drove over there to ask for help. Nick graciously removed the broken glass and patched it up with Crash Wrap so I could drive home (another 3 hours drive). He had me in and out of there in less than 30 minutes. Didn't even charge me, but I did pull a few dollars out of my wallet and made him take it. We've used Oak Hill Body & Paint for over 20 years. They used to be the gold standard in Southwest Austin. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. 1). They chronically won't answer the phone during business hours. Neither we, nor our insurance company could reach them on numerous occasions. Apparently Ian, our primary contact, doesn't arrive until 10 am and many days is gone by 12:30 p.m.. Additionally, they now have ZERO office staff every other Friday (although this isn't stated anywhere in their hours). You can't even leave a voice mail. Instead, you'll get a fax tone screeching in your ear. 2). They now refuse to see cars for estimates without an appointment. Meanwhile, once you get an estimate they won't book your repairs for weeks. 3). Our insurance company warned us, but we went ahead as Oak Hill Body and Paint used to be a good company and their office personnel swore that they stood by their work with a lifetime warranty. We should have listened to the insurance company... (See Below) 4). Although they said the car should be done in a week to 10 days, they took a full 3 weeks as they don't have enough staff to complete their work in a timely manner. 5). We finally received the car back and it was apparent that they didn't properly prep the panel before shooting. We took the car back and gave them the opportunity to fix it. However, the owner (Nick) said we're crazy... no one wants to work on an older car anymore and their workmanship was "industry standard". (So much for standing behind their work). We were then told don't come back, they don't want our business nor our insurance company's. Caveat Emptor. We were warned, and now you have been too. read more

They repaired my Toyota Tacoma in 2021. The front end was damaged due to a collision. Two days after i got the car out of the shop, the steering went way out of alignment (while driving it!), and was then un-drivable. Since I no longer trusted OHBP to fix it correctly, i took it to oak hill auto, who fixed it correctly, and they said the repair done by OHBP was botched badly. FAIR WARNING! read more

I've used this shop for many years but had one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had in all my years on my last visit. I run a business myself and I've never seen a business owner behave in the way that the owner of Oak Hill paint and body did. I don't need to get into specifics but needless to say I would not recommend this to my worst enemy. I am all about treating people with respect and courtesy. I'm 52 and have never written a negative review, but if there was a way to give less than 1 star I would. The reason for this is the dishonesty I experienced at this place. The crew misplaced my lug lock. They had it of course since they took my wheels off with it. But when I picked up the car and asked for the lug lock, they said I never gave it to them. Not 98...not 99...but 100% dishonest. Worse yet was the owner came out and told me I was being rude by accusing them of losing it! Really? I had to pay my mechanic to take them off. He told me to run from them - bad reputation. I I know sometimes mistakes are made. But I would never flat out lie to a client. In my eyes, trust is #1. There are good people in town - no sense in using someone dishonest. read more

The painter's work looks very good. Unfortunately you can see overspray on the wheel well liner where it was taped/masked so it's obvious a repair was done. Not sure why liner wasn't either removed or loosened and moved out of the way. My car was hit in the door causing additional damage while in their care causing another week delay in getting the car back and costing me another $350 in rental car charges. They need to update the customer of work progress. In the 5 weeks they had the car I never received a single call. read more

I don't usually write reviews unless I obtain exceptionally good service or am profoundly disappointed by the level of service I received. Regrettably, I find myself writing about my experience with Oak Hill Body and Paint. I appreciate that others may have a different experience, but mine was incredibly bad and of a nature that calls me to question the integrity of the owner. As my father told me, it takes a lifetime to build a good reputation, but just a second to ruin it. Oak Hill Body and Paint's reputation is in tatters. The tipoff that I should have used a different shop is the fact that USAA dropped Oak Hill Body and Paint as an authorized repair facility. It should be a warning to others. When I went to pick up my Corvette, the engine was already on and running, which I thought was strange (since no one at the shop knew what time I would be by to pick it up). But I didn't really focus on it. I completed the paperwork, paid for the repairs and drove to a store about 5 miles away. When I returned to my car, it wouldn't start. I then discovered that the electronic key (which was kept in a rubber protective case) was in pieces. It had been crushed while in possession of the shop. Someone at the shop used the circuit board bypass (slot inside the glove compartment on GM vehicles) to start the car and then left it running until I showed up. The key was left sitting in the center console and the car continued to run until the engine was shut down. The shop left it to me to later discover that the key was in pieces inside the protective rubber pouch and was useless when trying to start the car normally. I understand that accidents happen and I don't think the key was purposefully destroyed. What really troubles me is that the shop went to great lengths to deliberately cover it up. If they were unwilling to tell me that my key was accidently crushed, then they are probably likely to lie to customers about the fitness for purpose of the parts they install when making repairs. Hopefully, their dishonesty won't result in an accident, but their willingness to cut corners and not be forthright with customers should be a red flag for any one wanting confidence that the repair of their vehicle was done right. When I tried to discuss this issue with the owner, he said that he didn't know what happened to my key but that it was hard to get good help and he couldn't vouch for the people who worked for him. I was dumbstruck by the answer. Really? He shouldn't be responsible for what goes on in his shop? And he doesn't have a problem with the fact that I was, for all intents and purposes, lied to? When I told him that the only recourse he appeared to be making possible was for me to write a negative review, he said and I quote "Do what you got to do. I've been in business since 1979. You are not going to hurt my business." The really sad thing is, he's probably right. The shop has a contract to repair state vehicles and really doesn't want to bother with one-off customers like me. You should also think about whether he will care about your satisfaction, either... he'll probably never see you again. And as the owner told me, your negative review is not going to hurt his business either. It's really immaterial to me whether this review affects the decisions of others. I will sleep better knowing that I tried to warn others that the owner of this shop has no problem deceiving his customers. As they say caveat emptor ("let the buyer beware"). I took my Corvette there and they failed to deliver a quality paint job over and over. The first time there was horrible orange peel and sanding marks all over the place that my 4 year old could have seen that from across the parking lot. The 2nd time I took the car home and got out while the car was in the sun light and noticed the car was two different colors completely! One side was a cool black the other was obviously a browner black. I took a picture where the panels meet and the 16 year old side was not only a different color, it had a vastly better finish. I took the car back again and said I don't care how long it takes, make it right. Another 2 weeks went by and I went to pick it up again and again there's orange peel really bad on the last inch of the panels and the color on one the quarter panel is better but in the sun its still off from hood to nose panel. The painter obviously didn't want to mess with the front nose emblem so he left it on and attempted to sand and buff around it. The scratches around it were so bad I had to heat the emblem and remove it, buff and correct under, and reinstall the emblem myself. At this point I don't want them to touch my car again, I'm done giving chances. I asked them about all the bad reviews on Google and Yelp and they said most of them are fake. I'm here to say they're not. Their painter gives zero F***s and its blatantly obvious in his work. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE IF YOU TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR VEHICLE. UPDATE: I found today that they didn't wire my HID headlights properly back the way they were. They even left a cable attached to nothing dangling. What a joke of a shop! read more

Oak Hill Body & Paint was recommended to me by my most trusted mechanic, Bobby Hohman , of Hohmans automotive in Oak Hill. My beloved new Ford work van suffered a minor ding in the upper rear driver corner when I was backing into a driveway , and a tree, growing at an angle , did not show up in my mirror or in my rearview camera, OOPS. BOOM! Took it down to Oak Hill body and paint last Friday, they looked at it, gave me an estimate that was extremely fair and told me to bring it in this Monday. They completed it on time, today Tuesday before 5 o'clock, the repair is so flawless i could not see a single piece of evidence of any damage, even though they only spot repaired one corner. My van has expensive graphics all over and their workmanship is incredible, none of my graphics or any of the other paint shows any kind of join, or color difference. This is evidence that there really is true craftsmanship in the USA, these are my "to -go- to -guys " for any body work in the future. Well, I will post my review on what my Mercedes s550 experienced at OAK HILL PAINT BODY SHOP, first we contacted Chris and he told me to come in for an estimate and contacted my insurance since a dingdong hit my car on the corner of the driver side at HEB on 71 bee cave and left a cracked bumper. So I brought it in and he ave me an estitmate of 400 dollars. I had my insurance take over my claim after they had my car for almost a week Chris calls me and told me it was ready to be picked up. The car all together was 714.00 I didn't have a ride so he picked me up arriving in 25 minutes. I saw my car and realized there was no gas so Chris drove me in my car and we went to get gas I was pleased how brand new it looked and how nice Chris was to me. Very well done!!! The good is that they quality of work was eventually of a good standard and their pricing was competitive. Customer service was decent as they were easy to deal with when i highlighted issues. The less than good = quality control. They offered the car back to me as done but a very quick inspection by me showed areas that needed redoing. If I can see this then they could see it and sort it out before releasing the car. i suspect they are under time pressure but it ended up taking more of their time. Overall these guys have reasonable pricing, can do a good job, can offer good customer service but let themselves down on quality control. I just received my car back yesterday, so I will update this review if/when needed. I got into my first accident, being side swiped by an uninsured driver and while I didn't have a huge amount of damage, I was concerned of the impact on my wheel and wanted to bring in my car ASAP. Icalled 5 other shops before Oak Hill, who all stated that my vehicle would take too long to fix and they didn't want their production time to be slowed down. However at Oak Hill, Kris was incredibly accommodating and offered to take my car the same day I called (which was right before Thanksgiving). It did take ~2 weeks for the alignment check, replacement parts, buffing and paint to be complete, but they were up front about the turnaround time (which was better than the other shops who wouldn't even take it). Overall, I am impressed with the customer service and the quality of the work on my vehicle. read more

Oak Hill Body and Paint painted a quarter of my car. The taping, overspray, and quality control were terrible. Even after they repaired the initial work I still find issues. This is the second car they've worked on for me. Another pattern I've seen is in less visible areas they may skip steps such as not putting back all screws or skipping one of the layers of paint. My family has been taking our work - insurance claims and random vehicle problems - to Oak Hill Body and Pain for years. They have ALWAYS taken care of us. We have had body work done on our race truck in the past, and my Jeep had problems with the top (self-inflicted) that they put up with and did the best they could with a faulty "skyslider." I've been hit by a guy U-turning in the street, and I had also tapped a light pole which they had to repaint and did an excellent job. Highly recommended. Remember, it's typically just the irritated people that leave reviews. This place is terrible. My car was getting fixed from a wreck I got into, and they kept telling me a day it would be done and it kept being pushed back. (Total of about five times). Every time I spoke with the owner he did not take responsibility, but rather put the blame on everyone else. We caught them being dishonest about a couple of things too. Couldn't be happier. Oak Hill Body & Paint took on a job that none of the other shops I checked with wanted to touch and final price matched the estimate exactly, which was very reasonable. Some details, I have a high mileage BMW M3 that was involved in a minor accident. Front bumper, grill and hood were bent up. Other shops wanted to buy and paint new parts, charging around $4,000. Given that this was a high mileage car, my goal was a less expensive route - to bend / reattach the aluminum hood and bumper. Only Oak Hill Body & Paint was willing to try, and they did a fantastic job. Looks 95% new, which exceeded my expectations and cost less than $1,000. Highly recommend. read more

Y'all! I just strolled into Oak Hill Body and Paint this morning to get an estimate on a medium size scratch on my passenger doors. I was greeted by the cutest guard dog ever. Then was greeted by an employee, maybe owner. Super nice fella. We immediately walked out and took a look at the damage. He was able to fix it right then. Granted I just needed a buff, but I was back in my car in ten minutes. I would highly recommend this place. This was my second time bringing my vehicle in. I didn't leave disappointed either time. We had a small knick on the bumper's edge but they stand by their work and are professionals so they took care of us. I would definitely recommend them to a friend, I'm a little picky about my cars (I originally went to Berli's but decided to with my local neighborhood shop for our inexpensive Yaris) and am glad I did, their quality is just as good and turnaround times faster. Recently took my car in (during this stage-3 COVID-19 period) to repair damage on two driver's side-doors. Their estimates were good (I also obtained estimates from three other shops as well), they fulfilled their time commitments, the repair work and paint finish was very high quality, and the insurance was handled seamlessly. No complaints. I recommend them. A Note to Readers: During the initial estimate and when dropping off the car, I communicated some specific concerns I had about potential repair difficulties. This was good discussion because I learned how the repairs would be done and what options existed. Additionally, my final conversations with customer service focused on what specifically I would be inspecting for upon car pick-up (mostly reminders from the initial conversations), and for the shop to ensure those items were in A-1 shape prior to releasing the car. Sure enough, when I picked up the car, those areas of concern had received the attention they needed and there were absolutely no issues. Regardless of where you ultimately choose to take your vehicle for repair, this level of communication and rapport is essential for getting the quality of work you expect. Not here.. next day in.. and within a couple days.. it's being repaired. Picked up my Jeep when it was finished and looked better than brand new. Like Andrea, I took my car to Oak Hill through USAA's claims service. But unlike Andrea, my experienced was pretty lame. I was rear-ended and so the rear door (Honda Odyssey) needed to be replaced. When I got the car back, it was evident that they put the rear door of another Odyssey on my car because it had the emblem of the dealership the other owner bought their car from (oops!). Also the fit of the rubber moldings was out of alignment. They said the clips that hold it are hard to get right. Huh? Isn't that why they are supposed to be the experts? It also has a tinny sound when it closed now. So I had to take it back a few times to get to an acceptable state. And only "acceptable" is what I would call it. read more

He asked only a minimal amount for the repair and would not accept a larger amount we offered.
