A place with character and proud to be a dive bar - that is OHT. On 15 July 2026 I had the gauche melt and a Karbach Hopadillo - the beer special at $4. The melt was on great white bread with flavor, some of which came from being toasted with butter. The two cheese were a complementary element to the carne asada filling. My old friend ordered the Carne Asada toco for around $6. My meal was $13.47 plus the beer and tax of course. I asked the server if there was a surcharge for using a credit card - she no, same price either way. So I paid with a card and the receipt showed 79 cents surcharge. That was the only thing that I can gripe about. Cold and well priced beer, hot melty and delicious sandwich. read more

We came during happy hour when they have $1 off draft beers. They were smoking their own pork so I had to try that in taco form, it was quite good. This is great dive bar in San Antonio with delicious bar food. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Their patio is very nice and nicely paved. The cost of both the drinks and the foods are decent. They have about a dozen beers on draft and even have Angry Orchard cider as well as many other hard alcohol drinks. They have one pool table and a smart juke box you can link into on your phone through an app. If you follow them on social media you can see what their specials are and why events they have going on. You can reserve a table there for a large party. They allow smoking in the patio. If the parking in the back and on the sides are full, you can park at the additional paved parking in the lot behind the gravel lot. Had a good time for the karaoke person, happy hour and pool table but they don't have darts, told me they couldn't play sports on the tvs because they're not a sport bar and the bartender was able to make my boyfriend whiskey shots after 2 AM BUT COULDNT MAKE them mixed shots but when I came up and questioned why she could make whiskey shots but not pink starburst she assumed I was drunk but I knew she was just being a BITCH and served something just to get a tip. One of the best dives I've ever been. Great patios front and back and really cool inside (well, to me) reminds me of being in the PNW but a lesser beer selection. Although the draft beers were clean they were mostly corporate brews. Great happy hour and ever better food. Phenomenal food actually. This is a solid dive bar in an area you wouldn't think to find one. Oak Hills is literally hidden in plain sight behind beautiful oak trees. The food is excellent bar food at a steal of a price. The burgers, fries, and tacos all make you think there's an actual restaurant dishing them out. Your best bet at getting that food is to walk up to the bar and order it from the bartender. Those bartenders are fun and offer great service on top of pouring generous drinks. Definitely one of the best dive bars in SA. The food here is amazing, fresh and just hits the spot. So much better than your typical bar food. Brisket fries or pizza, you can also get it as a quesadilla. Bang bang shrimp options in pizza, fries or quesadilla. so good. The drinks are amazing, great nightly specials. I love divey bars and Oak Hills Tavern definitely fits the bill! I also enjoy karaoke and they have it here on Sunday and Tuesday nights starting around 10pm. Dave is the host and he's the best at making you feel welcome. It can get pretty packed and there can be a long wait in the rotation to sing but the cheap drink prices and people watching make the time go by fast. The bartenders are cool and quick with the drinks even when they are slammed. Liz is my favorite (try the rainbow shots!). Food is your typical bar food: burgers, pizza, and tacos. The duck quesadillas were pretty darn good. Pizza was so-so but my friends like the thin crust type more than I do. OHT is a cool place for cheap drinks, karaoke, and fun people! read more
