This is great dive bar in San Antonio with delicious bar food. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Their patio is very nice and nicely paved. The cost of both the drinks and the foods are decent. They have about a dozen beers on draft and even have Angry Orchard cider as well as many other hard alcohol drinks. They have one pool table and a smart juke box you can link into on your phone through an app. If you follow them on social media you can see what their specials are and why events they have going on. You can reserve a table there for a large party. They allow smoking in the patio. If the parking in the back and on the sides are full, you can park at the additional paved parking in the lot behind the gravel lot. One of the best dives I've ever been. Great patios front and back and really cool inside (well, to me) reminds me of being in the PNW but a lesser beer selection. Although the draft beers were clean they were mostly corporate brews. Great happy hour and ever better food. Phenomenal food actually. The burgers, fries, and tacos all make you think there's an actual restaurant dishing them out. Your best bet at getting that food is to walk up to the bar and order it from the bartender. Those bartenders are fun and offer great service on top of pouring generous drinks. We go quite a bit but the last 2 times we've gone the food hasn't been good at all. The pizza sucked and then tonight the hamburger buns were burnt. I love divey bars and Oak Hills Tavern definitely fits the bill! I also enjoy karaoke and they have it here on Sunday and Tuesday nights starting around 10pm. Dave is the host and he's the best at making you feel welcome. It can get pretty packed and there can be a long wait in the rotation to sing but the cheap drink prices and people watching make the time go by fast. The bartenders are cool and quick with the drinks even when they are slammed. Liz is my favorite (try the rainbow shots!). Food is your typical bar food: burgers, pizza, and tacos. The duck quesadillas were pretty darn good. Pizza was so-so but my friends like the thin crust type more than I do. OHT is a cool place for cheap drinks, karaoke, and fun people! read more

My friend had been raving about this hole in the wall since I met her - a little more than a year ago - & to end this year right we decided to take me there. Parking is very minimal, most of the parking is taken up by Blanco cafe but I was told there is more parking in the back. I ordered the Mess of Fries w/ Duck Confit (half order) & two margaritas on the rocks. My friend had The Chelsea Pizza add duck confit and screwdrivers. The vibes here are very chill, it looks small from the outside but quite spacious on the inside. Plenty of patio seating. My fries were great - huge portion even for ordering the half order of fries, BUT WHAT REALLY STANDS OUT?! You'll never guess but it was the pickled jalapeños. So good that I had to go get an extra side of em. Not gonna lie - if they sold em by the jars, I'd buy em. It just had the best bite to it and it was just something so simple yet so yummy. I tried a slice of the Chelsea Pizza - ALSO DELICIOUS. You can tell that they make the food here with fresh ingredients. How does a dive bar make me love two food items I normally don't care for and never order?!?? What kinda magical happenings are going on in that kitchen? So I HATE duck. There I said it. Go ahead. Fight me. I never order it, it's too gamey. I don't like rare duck breast and anything over medium rare is like chewy rubber. I can always find something better on a menu. I also am "meh" about shrimp. Most places do not cooknitnto my personal liking and or don't have enough or the right flavor and seasonings on it. Then, there is OHT. I got the duck confit taco ($5) and the shrimp bang a rang taco ($4). Holy deliciousness!! The duck confit was juicy and divine, slowly cooked in it's own juices with mushrooms. The Shrimp taco is breaded in crushed flaming hot Cheetos (Can I get an Amen from the San Antonio congregation?!?). It was perfectly cooked shrimp with fresh cabbage. I've also had the Little Piggy pizza. Spicy, sweet, & porky pizza pie! It has bacon onion jam and candied jalapenos, ya'll!! Everytime I go, which is too rare, and will be immediately changed to a more frequent arrangement, everyone there from the staff to the patrons were so nice, hilarious, and very welcoming. Many patrons are regulars. Some newbies can be put off going to a venue full of regulars, but you should not have that concern here. You're a friend and a buddy as soon as you step through the door. Please get your butt to OHT. During covid, you have to order food with your drinks. So ensure ensure your bill is at least 51% food. That should not be hard here at all! The libations are cool and cheap and the food is hot and delicious. They are now open for lunch. Please stop by, especially if you are in the med center.
